Using Augmented Face Images to Improve Facial Recognition TasksShuo Cheng, Guoxian Song, Wan-Chun Ma et al.
We present a framework that uses GAN-augmented images to complement certain specific attributes, usually underrepresented, for machine learning model training. This allows us to improve inference quality over those attributes for the facial recognition tasks.

Evaluating Supervised Learning Models for Fraud Detection: A Comparative Study of Classical and Deep Architectures on Imbalanced Transaction DataChao Wang, Chuanhao Nie, Yunbo Liu
Fraud detection remains a critical task in high-stakes domains such as finance and e-commerce, where undetected fraudulent transactions can lead to significant economic losses. In this study, we systematically compare the performance of four supervised learning models - Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM), and a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) network - on a large-scale, highly imbalanced online transaction dataset. While ensemble methods such as Random Forest and LightGBM demonstrated superior performance in both overall and class-specific metrics, Logistic Regression offered a reliable and interpretable baseline. The GRU model showed strong recall for the minority fraud class, though at the cost of precision, highlighting a trade-off relevant for real-world deployment. Our evaluation emphasizes not only weighted averages but also per-class precision, recall, and F1-scores, providing a nuanced view of each model's effectiveness in detecting rare but consequential fraudulent activity. The findings underscore the importance of choosing models based on the specific risk tolerance and operational needs of fraud detection systems.

Attention Deep Model with Multi-Scale Deep Supervision for Person Re-IdentificationDi Wu, Chao Wang, Yong Wu et al.
In recent years, person re-identification (PReID) has become a hot topic in computer vision duo to it is an important part in intelligent surveillance. Many state-of-the-art PReID methods are attention-based or multi-scale feature learning deep models. However, introducing attention mechanism may lead to some important feature information losing issue. Besides, most of the multi-scale models embedding the multi-scale feature learning block into the feature extraction deep network, which reduces the efficiency of inference network. To address these issue, in this study, we introduce an attention deep architecture with multi-scale deep supervision for PReID. Technically, we contribute a reverse attention block to complement the attention block, and a novel multi-scale layer with deep supervision operator for training the backbone network. The proposed block and operator are only used for training, and discard in test phase. Experiments have been performed on Market-1501, DukeMTMC-reID and CUHK03 datasets. All the experiment results show that the proposed model significantly outperforms the other competitive state-of-the-art methods.
