WaveGAN: Frequency-aware GAN for High-Fidelity Few-shot Image Generation

Mengping Yang, Zhe Wang, Ziqiu Chi et al.

Existing few-shot image generation approaches typically employ fusion-based strategies, either on the image or the feature level, to produce new images. However, previous approaches struggle to synthesize high-frequency signals with fine details, deteriorating the synthesis quality. To address this, we propose WaveGAN, a frequency-aware model for few-shot image generation. Concretely, we disentangle encoded features into multiple frequency components and perform low-frequency skip connections to preserve outline and structural information. Then we alleviate the generator's struggles of synthesizing fine details by employing high-frequency skip connections, thus providing informative frequency information to the generator. Moreover, we utilize a frequency L1-loss on the generated and real images to further impede frequency information loss. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and advancement of our method on three datasets. Noticeably, we achieve new state-of-the-art with FID 42.17, LPIPS 0.3868, FID 30.35, LPIPS 0.5076, and FID 4.96, LPIPS 0.3822 respectively on Flower, Animal Faces, and VGGFace. Uni-COAL: A Unified Framework for Cross-Modality Synthesis and Super-Resolution of MR Images

Zhiyun Song, Zengxin Qi, Xin Wang et al.

Cross-modality synthesis (CMS), super-resolution (SR), and their combination (CMSR) have been extensively studied for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Their primary goals are to enhance the imaging quality by synthesizing the desired modality and reducing the slice thickness. Despite the promising synthetic results, these techniques are often tailored to specific tasks, thereby limiting their adaptability to complex clinical scenarios. Therefore, it is crucial to build a unified network that can handle various image synthesis tasks with arbitrary requirements of modality and resolution settings, so that the resources for training and deploying the models can be greatly reduced. However, none of the previous works is capable of performing CMS, SR, and CMSR using a unified network. Moreover, these MRI reconstruction methods often treat alias frequencies improperly, resulting in suboptimal detail restoration. In this paper, we propose a Unified Co-Modulated Alias-free framework (Uni-COAL) to accomplish the aforementioned tasks with a single network. The co-modulation design of the image-conditioned and stochastic attribute representations ensures the consistency between CMS and SR, while simultaneously accommodating arbitrary combinations of input/output modalities and thickness. The generator of Uni-COAL is also designed to be alias-free based on the Shannon-Nyquist signal processing framework, ensuring effective suppression of alias frequencies. Additionally, we leverage the semantic prior of Segment Anything Model (SAM) to guide Uni-COAL, ensuring a more authentic preservation of anatomical structures during synthesis. Experiments on three datasets demonstrate that Uni-COAL outperforms the alternatives in CMS, SR, and CMSR tasks for MR images, which highlights its generalizability to wide-range applications.

MCLPD:Multi-view Contrastive Learning for EEG-based PD Detection Across Datasets

Qian Zhang, Ruilin Zhang, Jun Xiao et al.

Electroencephalography has been validated as an effective technique for detecting Parkinson's disease, particularly in its early stages. However, the high cost of EEG data annotation often results in limited dataset size and considerable discrepancies across datasets, including differences in acquisition protocols and subject demographics, significantly hinder the robustness and generalizability of models in cross-dataset detection scenarios. To address such challenges, this paper proposes a semi-supervised learning framework named MCLPD,which integrates multi-view contrastive pre-training with lightweight supervised fine-tuning to enhance cross-dataset PD detection performance.During pre-training,MCLPD uses self-supervised learning on the unlabeled UNM dataset. To build contrastive pairs,it applies dual augmentations in both time and frequency domains, which enrich the data and naturally fuse time-frequency information. In the fine-tuning phase, only a small proportion of labeled data from another two datasets (UI and UC)is used for supervised optimization.Experimental results show that MCLPD achieves F1 scores of 0.91 on UI and 0.81 on UC using only 1%of labeled data, which further improve to 0.97 and 0.87,respectively,when 5%of labeled data is used.Compared to existing methods,MCLPD substantially improves cross-dataset generalization while reducing the dependency on labeled data, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
