CLIP2GAN: Towards Bridging Text with the Latent Space of GANsYixuan Wang, Wengang Zhou, Jianmin Bao et al.
In this work, we are dedicated to text-guided image generation and propose a novel framework, i.e., CLIP2GAN, by leveraging CLIP model and StyleGAN. The key idea of our CLIP2GAN is to bridge the output feature embedding space of CLIP and the input latent space of StyleGAN, which is realized by introducing a mapping network. In the training stage, we encode an image with CLIP and map the output feature to a latent code, which is further used to reconstruct the image. In this way, the mapping network is optimized in a self-supervised learning way. In the inference stage, since CLIP can embed both image and text into a shared feature embedding space, we replace CLIP image encoder in the training architecture with CLIP text encoder, while keeping the following mapping network as well as StyleGAN model. As a result, we can flexibly input a text description to generate an image. Moreover, by simply adding mapped text features of an attribute to a mapped CLIP image feature, we can effectively edit the attribute to the image. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed CLIP2GAN compared to previous methods.
Improving Grammatical Error Correction via Contextual Data AugmentationYixuan Wang, Baoxin Wang, Yijun Liu et al.
Nowadays, data augmentation through synthetic data has been widely used in the field of Grammatical Error Correction (GEC) to alleviate the problem of data scarcity. However, these synthetic data are mainly used in the pre-training phase rather than the data-limited fine-tuning phase due to inconsistent error distribution and noisy labels. In this paper, we propose a synthetic data construction method based on contextual augmentation, which can ensure an efficient augmentation of the original data with a more consistent error distribution. Specifically, we combine rule-based substitution with model-based generation, using the generative model to generate a richer context for the extracted error patterns. Besides, we also propose a relabeling-based data cleaning method to mitigate the effects of noisy labels in synthetic data. Experiments on CoNLL14 and BEA19-Test show that our proposed augmentation method consistently and substantially outperforms strong baselines and achieves the state-of-the-art level with only a few synthetic data.
Semi-supervised Optimal Transport with Self-paced Ensemble for Cross-hospital Sepsis Early DetectionRuiqing Ding, Yu Zhou, Jie Xu et al.
The utilization of computer technology to solve problems in medical scenarios has attracted considerable attention in recent years, which still has great potential and space for exploration. Among them, machine learning has been widely used in the prediction, diagnosis and even treatment of Sepsis. However, state-of-the-art methods require large amounts of labeled medical data for supervised learning. In real-world applications, the lack of labeled data will cause enormous obstacles if one hospital wants to deploy a new Sepsis detection system. Different from the supervised learning setting, we need to use known information (e.g., from another hospital with rich labeled data) to help build a model with acceptable performance, i.e., transfer learning. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised optimal transport with self-paced ensemble framework for Sepsis early detection, called SPSSOT, to transfer knowledge from the other that has rich labeled data. In SPSSOT, we first extract the same clinical indicators from the source domain (e.g., hospital with rich labeled data) and the target domain (e.g., hospital with little labeled data), then we combine the semi-supervised domain adaptation based on optimal transport theory with self-paced under-sampling to avoid a negative transfer possibly caused by covariate shift and class imbalance. On the whole, SPSSOT is an end-to-end transfer learning method for Sepsis early detection which can automatically select suitable samples from two domains respectively according to the number of iterations and align feature space of two domains. Extensive experiments on two open clinical datasets demonstrate that comparing with other methods, our proposed SPSSOT, can significantly improve the AUC values with only 1% labeled data in the target domain in two transfer learning scenarios, MIMIC $rightarrow$ Challenge and Challenge $rightarrow$ MIMIC.

Robust Visual Tracking via Implicit Low-Rank Constraints and Structural Color HistogramsYi-Xuan Wang, Xiao-Jun Wu, Xue-Feng Zhu
With the guaranteed discrimination and efficiency of spatial appearance model, Discriminative Correlation Filters (DCF-) based tracking methods have achieved outstanding performance recently. However, the construction of effective temporal appearance model is still challenging on account of filter degeneration becomes a significant factor that causes tracking failures in the DCF framework. To encourage temporal continuity and to explore the smooth variation of target appearance, we propose to enhance low-rank structure of the learned filters, which can be realized by constraining the successive filters within a $\ell_2$-norm ball. Moreover, we design a global descriptor, structural color histograms, to provide complementary support to the final response map, improving the stability and robustness to the DCF framework. The experimental results on standard benchmarks demonstrate that our Implicit Low-Rank Constraints and Structural Color Histograms (ILRCSCH) tracker outperforms state-of-the-art methods.
