Learning Optical Flow and Scene Flow with Bidirectional Camera-LiDAR Fusion

Haisong Liu, Tao Lu, Yihui Xu et al.

In this paper, we study the problem of jointly estimating the optical flow and scene flow from synchronized 2D and 3D data. Previous methods either employ a complex pipeline that splits the joint task into independent stages, or fuse 2D and 3D information in an ``early-fusion'' or ``late-fusion'' manner. Such one-size-fits-all approaches suffer from a dilemma of failing to fully utilize the characteristic of each modality or to maximize the inter-modality complementarity. To address the problem, we propose a novel end-to-end framework, which consists of 2D and 3D branches with multiple bidirectional fusion connections between them in specific layers. Different from previous work, we apply a point-based 3D branch to extract the LiDAR features, as it preserves the geometric structure of point clouds. To fuse dense image features and sparse point features, we propose a learnable operator named bidirectional camera-LiDAR fusion module (Bi-CLFM). We instantiate two types of the bidirectional fusion pipeline, one based on the pyramidal coarse-to-fine architecture (dubbed CamLiPWC), and the other one based on the recurrent all-pairs field transforms (dubbed CamLiRAFT). On FlyingThings3D, both CamLiPWC and CamLiRAFT surpass all existing methods and achieve up to a 47.9\% reduction in 3D end-point-error from the best published result. Our best-performing model, CamLiRAFT, achieves an error of 4.26\% on the KITTI Scene Flow benchmark, ranking 1st among all submissions with much fewer parameters. Besides, our methods have strong generalization performance and the ability to handle non-rigid motion. Code is available at https://github.com/MCG-NJU/CamLiFlow.

Multi-Objective Bilevel Learning

Zhiyao Zhang, Zhuqing Liu, Xin Zhang et al.

As machine learning (ML) applications grow increasingly complex in recent years, modern ML frameworks often need to address multiple potentially conflicting objectives with coupled decision variables across different layers. This creates a compelling need for multi-objective bilevel learning (MOBL). So far, however, the field of MOBL remains in its infancy and many important problems remain under-explored. This motivates us to fill this gap and systematically investigate the theoretical and algorithmic foundation of MOBL. Specifically, we consider MOBL problems with multiple conflicting objectives guided by preferences at the upper-level subproblem, where part of the inputs depend on the optimal solution of the lower-level subproblem. Our goal is to develop efficient MOBL optimization algorithms to (1) identify a preference-guided Pareto-stationary solution with low oracle complexity; and (2) enable systematic Pareto front exploration. To this end, we propose a unifying algorithmic framework called weighted-Chebyshev multi-hyper-gradient-descent (WC-MHGD) for both deterministic and stochastic settings with finite-time Pareto-stationarity convergence rate guarantees, which not only implies low oracle complexity but also induces systematic Pareto front exploration. We further conduct extensive experiments to confirm our theoretical results.

StegaINR4MIH: steganography by implicit neural representation for multi-image hiding

Weina Dong, Jia Liu, Lifeng Chen et al.

Multi-image hiding, which embeds multiple secret images into a cover image and is able to recover these images with high quality, has gradually become a research hotspot in the field of image steganography. However, due to the need to embed a large amount of data in a limited cover image space, issues such as contour shadowing or color distortion often arise, posing significant challenges for multi-image hiding. In this paper, we propose StegaINR4MIH, a novel implicit neural representation steganography framework that enables the hiding of multiple images within a single implicit representation function. In contrast to traditional methods that use multiple encoders to achieve multi-image embedding, our approach leverages the redundancy of implicit representation function parameters and employs magnitude-based weight selection and secret weight substitution on pre-trained cover image functions to effectively hide and independently extract multiple secret images. We conduct experiments on images with a resolution of from three different datasets: CelebA-HQ, COCO, and DIV2K. When hiding two secret images, the PSNR values of both the secret images and the stego images exceed 42. When hiding five secret images, the PSNR values of both the secret images and the stego images exceed 39. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method in terms of visual quality and undetectability.

FDDWNet: A Lightweight Convolutional Neural Network for Real-time Sementic Segmentation

Jia Liu, Quan Zhou, Yong Qiang et al.

This paper introduces a lightweight convolutional neural network, called FDDWNet, for real-time accurate semantic segmentation. In contrast to recent advances of lightweight networks that prefer to utilize shallow structure, FDDWNet makes an effort to design more deeper network architecture, while maintains faster inference speed and higher segmentation accuracy. Our network uses factorized dilated depth-wise separable convolutions (FDDWC) to learn feature representations from different scale receptive fields with fewer model parameters. Additionally, FDDWNet has multiple branches of skipped connections to gather context cues from intermediate convolution layers. The experiments show that FDDWNet only has 0.8M model size, while achieves 60 FPS running speed on a single RTX 2080Ti GPU with a 1024x512 input image. The comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our model achieves state-of-the-art results in terms of available speed and accuracy trade-off on CityScapes and CamVid datasets.

LEDNet: A Lightweight Encoder-Decoder Network for Real-Time Semantic Segmentation

Yu Wang, Quan Zhou, Jia Liu et al.

The extensive computational burden limits the usage of CNNs in mobile devices for dense estimation tasks. In this paper, we present a lightweight network to address this problem, namely LEDNet, which employs an asymmetric encoder-decoder architecture for the task of real-time semantic segmentation.More specifically, the encoder adopts a ResNet as backbone network, where two new operations, channel split and shuffle, are utilized in each residual block to greatly reduce computation cost while maintaining higher segmentation accuracy. On the other hand, an attention pyramid network (APN) is employed in the decoder to further lighten the entire network complexity. Our model has less than 1M parameters, and is able to run at over 71 FPS in a single GTX 1080Ti GPU. The comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art results in terms of speed and accuracy trade-off on CityScapes dataset.
