DUFormer: Solving Power Line Detection Task in Aerial Images using Semantic SegmentationDeyu An, Qiang Zhang, Jianshu Chao et al.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are frequently used for inspecting power lines and capturing high-resolution aerial images. However, detecting power lines in aerial images is difficult,as the foreground data(i.e, power lines) is small and the background information is abundant. To tackle this problem, we introduce DUFormer, a semantic segmentation algorithm explicitly designed to detect power lines in aerial images. We presuppose that it is advantageous to train an efficient Transformer model with sufficient feature extraction using a convolutional neural network(CNN) with a strong inductive bias. With this goal in mind, we introduce a heavy token encoder that performs overlapping feature remodeling and tokenization. The encoder comprises a pyramid CNN feature extraction module and a power line feature enhancement module. After successful local feature extraction for power lines, feature fusion is conducted. Then, the Transformer block is used for global modeling. The final segmentation result is achieved by amalgamating local and global features in the decode head. Moreover, we demonstrate the importance of the joint multi-weight loss function in power line segmentation. Our experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms all state-of-the-art methods in power line segmentation on the publicly accessible TTPLA dataset.

GPU Accelerated Color Correction and Frame Warping for Real-time Video StitchingLu Yang, Zhenglun Kong, Ting Li et al. · harvard
Traditional image stitching focuses on a single panorama frame without considering the spatial-temporal consistency in videos. The straightforward image stitching approach will cause temporal flicking and color inconstancy when it is applied to the video stitching task. Besides, inaccurate camera parameters will cause artifacts in the image warping. In this paper, we propose a real-time system to stitch multiple video sequences into a panoramic video, which is based on GPU accelerated color correction and frame warping without accurate camera parameters. We extend the traditional 2D-Matrix (2D-M) color correction approach and a present spatio-temporal 3D-Matrix (3D-M) color correction method for the overlap local regions with online color balancing using a piecewise function on global frames. Furthermore, we use pairwise homography matrices given by coarse camera calibration for global warping followed by accurate local warping based on the optical flow. Experimental results show that our system can generate highquality panorama videos in real time.

HyLiFormer: Hyperbolic Linear Attention for Skeleton-based Human Action RecognitionYue Li, Haoxuan Qu, Mengyuan Liu et al.
Transformers have demonstrated remarkable performance in skeleton-based human action recognition, yet their quadratic computational complexity remains a bottleneck for real-world applications. To mitigate this, linear attention mechanisms have been explored but struggle to capture the hierarchical structure of skeleton data. Meanwhile, the Poincaré model, as a typical hyperbolic geometry, offers a powerful framework for modeling hierarchical structures but lacks well-defined operations for existing mainstream linear attention. In this paper, we propose HyLiFormer, a novel hyperbolic linear attention Transformer tailored for skeleton-based action recognition. Our approach incorporates a Hyperbolic Transformation with Curvatures (HTC) module to map skeleton data into hyperbolic space and a Hyperbolic Linear Attention (HLA) module for efficient long-range dependency modeling. Theoretical analysis and extensive experiments on NTU RGB+D and NTU RGB+D 120 datasets demonstrate that HyLiFormer significantly reduces computational complexity while preserving model accuracy, making it a promising solution for efficiency-critical applications.
Latent-space adversarial training with post-aware calibration for defending large language models against jailbreak attacksXin Yi, Yue Li, Dongsheng Shi et al.
Ensuring safety alignment is a critical requirement for large language models (LLMs), particularly given increasing deployment in real-world applications. Despite considerable advancements, LLMs remain susceptible to jailbreak attacks, which exploit system vulnerabilities to circumvent safety measures and elicit harmful or inappropriate outputs. Furthermore, while adversarial training-based defense methods have shown promise, a prevalent issue is the unintended over-defense behavior, wherein models excessively reject benign queries, significantly undermining their practical utility. To address these limitations, we introduce LATPC, a Latent-space Adversarial Training with Post-aware Calibration framework. LATPC dynamically identifies safety-critical latent dimensions by contrasting harmful and benign inputs, enabling the adaptive construction of targeted refusal feature removal attacks. This mechanism allows adversarial training to concentrate on real-world jailbreak tactics that disguise harmful queries as benign ones. During inference, LATPC employs an efficient embedding-level calibration mechanism to minimize over-defense behaviors with negligible computational overhead. Experimental results across five types of disguise-based jailbreak attacks demonstrate that LATPC achieves a superior balance between safety and utility compared to existing defense frameworks. Further analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of leveraging safety-critical dimensions in developing robust defense methods against jailbreak attacks.

DeepSuM: Deep Sufficient Modality Learning FrameworkZhe Gao, Jian Huang, Ting Li et al.
Multimodal learning has become a pivotal approach in developing robust learning models with applications spanning multimedia, robotics, large language models, and healthcare. The efficiency of multimodal systems is a critical concern, given the varying costs and resource demands of different modalities. This underscores the necessity for effective modality selection to balance performance gains against resource expenditures. In this study, we propose a novel framework for modality selection that independently learns the representation of each modality. This approach allows for the assessment of each modality's significance within its unique representation space, enabling the development of tailored encoders and facilitating the joint analysis of modalities with distinct characteristics. Our framework aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of multimodal learning by optimizing modality integration and selection.
