Baichuan-Omni-1.5 Technical ReportYadong Li, Jun Liu, Tao Zhang et al.
We introduce Baichuan-Omni-1.5, an omni-modal model that not only has omni-modal understanding capabilities but also provides end-to-end audio generation capabilities. To achieve fluent and high-quality interaction across modalities without compromising the capabilities of any modality, we prioritized optimizing three key aspects. First, we establish a comprehensive data cleaning and synthesis pipeline for multimodal data, obtaining about 500B high-quality data (text, audio, and vision). Second, an audio-tokenizer (Baichuan-Audio-Tokenizer) has been designed to capture both semantic and acoustic information from audio, enabling seamless integration and enhanced compatibility with MLLM. Lastly, we designed a multi-stage training strategy that progressively integrates multimodal alignment and multitask fine-tuning, ensuring effective synergy across all modalities. Baichuan-Omni-1.5 leads contemporary models (including GPT4o-mini and MiniCPM-o 2.6) in terms of comprehensive omni-modal capabilities. Notably, it achieves results comparable to leading models such as Qwen2-VL-72B across various multimodal medical benchmarks.
No Other Representation Component Is Needed: Diffusion Transformers Can Provide Representation Guidance by ThemselvesDengyang Jiang, Mengmeng Wang, Liuzhuozheng Li et al.
Recent studies have demonstrated that learning a meaningful internal representation can both accelerate generative training and enhance the generation quality of diffusion transformers. However, existing approaches necessitate to either introduce an external and complex representation training framework or rely on a large-scale, pre-trained representation foundation model to provide representation guidance during the original generative training process. In this study, we posit that the unique discriminative process inherent to diffusion transformers enables them to offer such guidance without requiring external representation components. We therefore propose Self-Representation Alignment (SRA), a simple yet straightforward method that obtains representation guidance through a self-distillation manner. Specifically, SRA aligns the output latent representation of the diffusion transformer in the earlier layer with higher noise to that in the later layer with lower noise to progressively enhance the overall representation learning during only the generative training process. Experimental results indicate that applying SRA to DiTs and SiTs yields consistent performance improvements. Moreover, SRA not only significantly outperforms approaches relying on auxiliary, complex representation training frameworks but also achieves performance comparable to methods that are heavily dependent on powerful external representation priors.

OSMamba: Omnidirectional Spectral Mamba with Dual-Domain Prior Generator for Exposure CorrectionGehui Li, Bin Chen, Chen Zhao et al.
Exposure correction is a fundamental problem in computer vision and image processing. Recently, frequency domain-based methods have achieved impressive improvement, yet they still struggle with complex real-world scenarios under extreme exposure conditions. This is due to the local convolutional receptive fields failing to model long-range dependencies in the spectrum, and the non-generative learning paradigm being inadequate for retrieving lost details from severely degraded regions. In this paper, we propose Omnidirectional Spectral Mamba (OSMamba), a novel exposure correction network that incorporates the advantages of state space models and generative diffusion models to address these limitations. Specifically, OSMamba introduces an omnidirectional spectral scanning mechanism that adapts Mamba to the frequency domain to capture comprehensive long-range dependencies in both the amplitude and phase spectra of deep image features, hence enhancing illumination correction and structure recovery. Furthermore, we develop a dual-domain prior generator that learns from well-exposed images to generate a degradation-free diffusion prior containing correct information about severely under- and over-exposed regions for better detail restoration. Extensive experiments on multiple-exposure and mixed-exposure datasets demonstrate that the proposed OSMamba achieves state-of-the-art performance both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Leave No Document Behind: Benchmarking Long-Context LLMs with Extended Multi-Doc QAMinzheng Wang, Longze Chen, Cheng Fu et al.
Long-context modeling capabilities have garnered widespread attention, leading to the emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) with ultra-context windows. Meanwhile, benchmarks for evaluating long-context LLMs are gradually catching up. However, existing benchmarks employ irrelevant noise texts to artificially extend the length of test cases, diverging from the real-world scenarios of long-context applications. To bridge this gap, we propose a novel long-context benchmark, Loong, aligning with realistic scenarios through extended multi-document question answering (QA). Unlike typical document QA, in Loong's test cases, each document is relevant to the final answer, ignoring any document will lead to the failure of the answer. Furthermore, Loong introduces four types of tasks with a range of context lengths: Spotlight Locating, Comparison, Clustering, and Chain of Reasoning, to facilitate a more realistic and comprehensive evaluation of long-context understanding. Extensive experiments indicate that existing long-context language models still exhibit considerable potential for enhancement. Retrieval augmented generation (RAG) achieves poor performance, demonstrating that Loong can reliably assess the model's long-context modeling capabilities.

Branch-Cooperative OSNet for Person Re-IdentificationLei Zhang, Xiaofu Wu, Suofei Zhang et al.
Multi-branch is extensively studied for learning rich feature representation for person re-identification (Re-ID). In this paper, we propose a branch-cooperative architecture over OSNet, termed BC-OSNet, for person Re-ID. By stacking four cooperative branches, namely, a global branch, a local branch, a relational branch and a contrastive branch, we obtain powerful feature representation for person Re-ID. Extensive experiments show that the proposed BC-OSNet achieves state-of-art performance on the three popular datasets, including Market-1501, DukeMTMC-reID and CUHK03. In particular, it achieves mAP of 84.0% and rank-1 accuracy of 87.1% on the CUHK03_labeled.

A Priori Analysis of a Higher Order Nonlinear Elasticity Model for an Atomistic Chain with Periodic Boundary ConditionYangshuai Wang, Hao Wang, Lei Zhang
Nonlinear elastic models are widely used to describe the elastic response of crystalline solids, for example, the well-known Cauchy-Born model. While the Cauchy-Born model only depends on the strain, effects of higher order strain gradients are significant and higher order continuum models are preferred, in various applications such as defect dynamics and modeling of carbon nanotubes. In this paper, we rigorously derive a higher order nonlinear elasticity model for crystals from its atomistic description in one dimension. We show that, compared to the second order accuracy of the Cauchy-Born model, the higher order continuum model in this paper is of fourth oder accuracy with respect to the interatomic spacing in the thermal dynamic limit. In addition, we discuss the key issues for the derivation of higher order continuum models in more general cases. The theoretical convergence results are demonstrated by numerical experiments.
