Reliable Disentanglement Multi-view Learning Against View Adversarial AttacksXuyang Wang, Siyuan Duan, Qizhi Li et al.
Trustworthy multi-view learning has attracted extensive attention because evidence learning can provide reliable uncertainty estimation to enhance the credibility of multi-view predictions. Existing trusted multi-view learning methods implicitly assume that multi-view data is secure. However, in safety-sensitive applications such as autonomous driving and security monitoring, multi-view data often faces threats from adversarial perturbations, thereby deceiving or disrupting multi-view models. This inevitably leads to the adversarial unreliability problem (AUP) in trusted multi-view learning. To overcome this tricky problem, we propose a novel multi-view learning framework, namely Reliable Disentanglement Multi-view Learning (RDML). Specifically, we first propose evidential disentanglement learning to decompose each view into clean and adversarial parts under the guidance of corresponding evidences, which is extracted by a pretrained evidence extractor. Then, we employ the feature recalibration module to mitigate the negative impact of adversarial perturbations and extract potential informative features from them. Finally, to further ignore the irreparable adversarial interferences, a view-level evidential attention mechanism is designed. Extensive experiments on multi-view classification tasks with adversarial attacks show that RDML outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by a relatively large margin. DoubleDiffusion: Combining Heat Diffusion with Denoising Diffusion for Texture Generation on 3D MeshesXuyang Wang, Ziang Cheng, Zhenyu Li et al.
This paper addresses the problem of generating textures for 3D mesh assets. Existing approaches often rely on image diffusion models to generate multi-view image observations, which are then transformed onto the mesh surface to produce a single texture. However, due to the gap between multi-view images and 3D space, such process is susceptible to arange of issues such as geometric inconsistencies, visibility occlusion, and baking artifacts. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel approach that directly generates texture on 3D meshes. Our approach leverages heat dissipation diffusion, which serves as an efficient operator that propagates features on the geometric surface of a mesh, while remaining insensitive to the specific layout of the wireframe. By integrating this technique into a generative diffusion pipeline, we significantly improve the efficiency of texture generation compared to existing texture generation methods. We term our approach DoubleDiffusion, as it combines heat dissipation diffusion with denoising diffusion to enable native generative learning on 3D mesh surfaces.

Generating Adversarial Samples For Training Wake-up Word Detection Systems Against Confusing WordsHaoxu Wang, Yan Jia, Zeqing Zhao et al.
Wake-up word detection models are widely used in real life, but suffer from severe performance degradation when encountering adversarial samples. In this paper we discuss the concept of confusing words in adversarial samples. Confusing words are commonly encountered, which are various kinds of words that sound similar to the predefined keywords. To enhance the wake word detection system's robustness against confusing words, we propose several methods to generate the adversarial confusing samples for simulating real confusing words scenarios in which we usually do not have any real confusing samples in the training set. The generated samples include concatenated audio, synthesized data, and partially masked keywords. Moreover, we use a domain embedding concatenated system to improve the performance. Experimental results show that the adversarial samples generated in our approach help improve the system's robustness in both the common scenario and the confusing words scenario. In addition, we release the confusing words testing database called HI-MIA-CW for future research.

TransfoRNN: Capturing the Sequential Information in Self-Attention Representations for Language ModelingTze Yuang Chong, Xuyang Wang, Lin Yang et al.
In this paper, we describe the use of recurrent neural networks to capture sequential information from the self-attention representations to improve the Transformers. Although self-attention mechanism provides a means to exploit long context, the sequential information, i.e. the arrangement of tokens, is not explicitly captured. We propose to cascade the recurrent neural networks to the Transformers, which referred to as the TransfoRNN model, to capture the sequential information. We found that the TransfoRNN models which consists of only shallow Transformers stack is suffice to give comparable, if not better, performance than a deeper Transformer model. Evaluated on the Penn Treebank and WikiText-2 corpora, the proposed TransfoRNN model has shown lower model perplexities with fewer number of model parameters. On the Penn Treebank corpus, the model perplexities were reduced up to 5.5% with the model size reduced up to 10.5%. On the WikiText-2 corpus, the model perplexity was reduced up to 2.2% with a 27.7% smaller model. Also, the TransfoRNN model was applied on the LibriSpeech speech recognition task and has shown comparable results with the Transformer models.

Training Wake Word Detection with Synthesized Speech Data on Confusion WordsYan Jia, Zexin Cai, Murong Ma et al.
Confusing-words are commonly encountered in real-life keyword spotting applications, which causes severe degradation of performance due to complex spoken terms and various kinds of words that sound similar to the predefined keywords. To enhance the wake word detection system's robustness on such scenarios, we investigate two data augmentation setups for training end-to-end KWS systems. One is involving the synthesized data from a multi-speaker speech synthesis system, and the other augmentation is performed by adding random noise to the acoustic feature. Experimental results show that augmentations help improve the system's robustness. Moreover, by augmenting the training set with the synthetic data generated by the multi-speaker text-to-speech system, we achieve a significant improvement regarding confusing words scenario.

Mask Detection and Breath Monitoring from Speech: on Data Augmentation, Feature Representation and ModelingHaiwei Wu, Lin Zhang, Lin Yang et al.
This paper introduces our approaches for the Mask and Breathing Sub-Challenge in the Interspeech COMPARE Challenge 2020. For the mask detection task, we train deep convolutional neural networks with filter-bank energies, gender-aware features, and speaker-aware features. Support Vector Machines follows as the back-end classifiers for binary prediction on the extracted deep embeddings. Several data augmentation schemes are used to increase the quantity of training data and improve our models' robustness, including speed perturbation, SpecAugment, and random erasing. For the speech breath monitoring task, we investigate different bottleneck features based on the Bi-LSTM structure. Experimental results show that our proposed methods outperform the baselines and achieve 0.746 PCC and 78.8% UAR on the Breathing and Mask evaluation set, respectively.

Acoustic Word Embedding System for Code-Switching Query-by-example Spoken Term DetectionMurong Ma, Haiwei Wu, Xuyang Wang et al.
In this paper, we propose a deep convolutional neural network-based acoustic word embedding system on code-switching query by example spoken term detection. Different from previous configurations, we combine audio data in two languages for training instead of only using one single language. We transform the acoustic features of keyword templates and searching content to fixed-dimensional vectors and calculate the distances between keyword segments and searching content segments obtained in a sliding manner. An auxiliary variability-invariant loss is also applied to training data within the same word but different speakers. This strategy is used to prevent the extractor from encoding undesired speaker- or accent-related information into the acoustic word embeddings. Experimental results show that our proposed system produces promising searching results in the code-switching test scenario. With the increased number of templates and the employment of variability-invariant loss, the searching performance is further enhanced.
