Medical Knowledge Graph QA for Drug-Drug Interaction Prediction based on Multi-hop Machine Reading Comprehension

Peng Gao, Feng Gao, Jian-Cheng Ni et al.

Drug-drug interaction prediction is a crucial issue in molecular biology. Traditional methods of observing drug-drug interactions through medical experiments require significant resources and labor. This paper presents a medical knowledge graph question answering model, dubbed MedKGQA, that predicts drug-drug interaction by employing machine reading comprehension from closed-domain literature and constructing a knowledge graph of drug-protein triplets from open-domain documents. The model vectorizes the drug-protein target attributes in the graph using entity embeddings and establishes directed connections between drug and protein entities based on the metabolic interaction pathways of protein targets in the human body. This aligns multiple external knowledge and applies it to learn the graph neural network. Without bells and whistles, the proposed model achieved a 4.5% improvement in terms of drug-drug interaction prediction accuracy compared to previous state-of-the-art models on the Qangaroo MedHop dataset. Experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the model and verify the feasibility of integrating external knowledge in machine reading comprehension tasks.

Online Micro-gesture Recognition Using Data Augmentation and Spatial-Temporal Attention

Pengyu Liu, Kun Li, Fei Wang et al.

In this paper, we introduce the latest solution developed by our team, HFUT-VUT, for the Micro-gesture Online Recognition track of the IJCAI 2025 MiGA Challenge. The Micro-gesture Online Recognition task is a highly challenging problem that aims to locate the temporal positions and recognize the categories of multiple micro-gesture instances in untrimmed videos. Compared to traditional temporal action detection, this task places greater emphasis on distinguishing between micro-gesture categories and precisely identifying the start and end times of each instance. Moreover, micro-gestures are typically spontaneous human actions, with greater differences than those found in other human actions. To address these challenges, we propose hand-crafted data augmentation and spatial-temporal attention to enhance the model's ability to classify and localize micro-gestures more accurately. Our solution achieved an F1 score of 38.03, outperforming the previous state-of-the-art by 37.9%. As a result, our method ranked first in the Micro-gesture Online Recognition track.

Research on Autonomous Maneuvering Decision of UCAV based on Approximate Dynamic Programming

Zhencai Hu, Peng Gao, Fei Wang

Unmanned aircraft systems can perform some more dangerous and difficult missions than manned aircraft systems. In some highly complicated and changeable tasks, such as air combat, the maneuvering decision mechanism is required to sense the combat situation accurately and make the optimal strategy in real-time. This paper presents a formulation of a 3-D one-on-one air combat maneuvering problem and an approximate dynamic programming approach for computing an optimal policy on autonomous maneuvering decision making. The aircraft learns combat strategies in a Reinforcement Leaning method, while sensing the environment, taking available maneuvering actions and getting feedback reward signals. To solve the problem of dimensional explosion in the air combat, the proposed method is implemented through feature selection, trajectory sampling, function approximation and Bellman backup operation in the air combat simulation environment. This approximate dynamic programming approach provides a fast response to a rapidly changing tactical situation, learns in long-term planning, without any explicitly coded air combat rule base.

Joint Multi-frame Detection and Segmentation for Multi-cell Tracking

Zibin Zhou, Fei Wang, Wenjuan Xi et al.

Tracking living cells in video sequence is difficult, because of cell morphology and high similarities between cells. Tracking-by-detection methods are widely used in multi-cell tracking. We perform multi-cell tracking based on the cell centroid detection, and the performance of the detector has high impact on tracking performance. In this paper, UNet is utilized to extract inter-frame and intra-frame spatio-temporal information of cells. Detection performance of cells in mitotic phase is improved by multi-frame input. Good detection results facilitate multi-cell tracking. A mitosis detection algorithm is proposed to detect cell mitosis and the cell lineage is built up. Another UNet is utilized to acquire primary segmentation. Jointly using detection and primary segmentation, cells can be fine segmented in highly dense cell population. Experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of our method, and results show its state-of-the-art performance.

CSI-Net: Unified Human Body Characterization and Pose Recognition

Fei Wang, Jinsong Han, Shiyuan Zhang et al.

We build CSI-Net, a unified Deep Neural Network~(DNN), to learn the representation of WiFi signals. Using CSI-Net, we jointly solved two body characterization problems: biometrics estimation (including body fat, muscle, water, and bone rates) and person recognition. We also demonstrated the application of CSI-Net on two distinctive pose recognition tasks: the hand sign recognition (fine-scaled action of the hand) and falling detection (coarse-scaled motion of the body).
