Auto-Slides: An Interactive Multi-Agent System for Creating and Customizing Research Presentations

Yuheng Yang, Wenjia Jiang, Yang Wang et al.

The rapid progress of large language models (LLMs) has opened new opportunities for education. While learners can interact with academic papers through LLM-powered dialogue, limitations still exist: the lack of structured organization and the heavy reliance on text can impede systematic understanding and engagement with complex concepts. To address these challenges, we propose Auto-Slides, an LLM-driven system that converts research papers into pedagogically structured, multimodal slides (e.g., diagrams and tables). Drawing on cognitive science, it creates a presentation-oriented narrative and allows iterative refinement via an interactive editor to better match learners' knowledge level and goals. Auto-Slides further incorporates verification and knowledge retrieval mechanisms to ensure accuracy and contextual completeness. Through extensive user studies, Auto-Slides demonstrates strong learner acceptance, improved structural support for understanding, and expert-validated gains in narrative quality compared with conventional LLM-based reading. Our contributions lie in designing a multi-agent framework for transforming academic papers into pedagogically optimized slides and introducing interactive customization for personalized learning.

AppAgentX: Evolving GUI Agents as Proficient Smartphone Users

Wenjia Jiang, Yangyang Zhuang, Chenxi Song et al.

Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have led to the development of intelligent LLM-based agents capable of interacting with graphical user interfaces (GUIs). These agents demonstrate strong reasoning and adaptability, enabling them to perform complex tasks that traditionally required predefined rules. However, the reliance on step-by-step reasoning in LLM-based agents often results in inefficiencies, particularly for routine tasks. In contrast, traditional rule-based systems excel in efficiency but lack the intelligence and flexibility to adapt to novel scenarios. To address this challenge, we propose a novel evolutionary framework for GUI agents that enhances operational efficiency while retaining intelligence and flexibility. Our approach incorporates a memory mechanism that records the agent's task execution history. By analyzing this history, the agent identifies repetitive action sequences and evolves high-level actions that act as shortcuts, replacing these low-level operations and improving efficiency. This allows the agent to focus on tasks requiring more complex reasoning, while simplifying routine actions. Experimental results on multiple benchmark tasks demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms existing methods in both efficiency and accuracy. The code will be open-sourced to support further research.

Monocular Depth Estimation and Segmentation for Transparent Object with Iterative Semantic and Geometric Fusion

Jiangyuan Liu, Hongxuan Ma, Yuxin Guo et al.

Transparent object perception is indispensable for numerous robotic tasks. However, accurately segmenting and estimating the depth of transparent objects remain challenging due to complex optical properties. Existing methods primarily delve into only one task using extra inputs or specialized sensors, neglecting the valuable interactions among tasks and the subsequent refinement process, leading to suboptimal and blurry predictions. To address these issues, we propose a monocular framework, which is the first to excel in both segmentation and depth estimation of transparent objects, with only a single-image input. Specifically, we devise a novel semantic and geometric fusion module, effectively integrating the multi-scale information between tasks. In addition, drawing inspiration from human perception of objects, we further incorporate an iterative strategy, which progressively refines initial features for clearer results. Experiments on two challenging synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that our model surpasses state-of-the-art monocular, stereo, and multi-view methods by a large margin of about 38.8%-46.2% with only a single RGB input. Unsupervised Learning of Depth, Optical Flow and Pose with Occlusion from 3D Geometry

Guangming Wang, Chi Zhang, Hesheng Wang et al.

In autonomous driving, monocular sequences contain lots of information. Monocular depth estimation, camera ego-motion estimation and optical flow estimation in consecutive frames are high-profile concerns recently. By analyzing tasks above, pixels in the middle frame are modeled into three parts: the rigid region, the non-rigid region, and the occluded region. In joint unsupervised training of depth and pose, we can segment the occluded region explicitly. The occlusion information is used in unsupervised learning of depth, pose and optical flow, as the image reconstructed by depth-pose and optical flow will be invalid in occluded regions. A less-than-mean mask is designed to further exclude the mismatched pixels interfered with by motion or illumination change in the training of depth and pose networks. This method is also used to exclude some trivial mismatched pixels in the training of the optical flow network. Maximum normalization is proposed for depth smoothness term to restrain depth degradation in textureless regions. In the occluded region, as depth and camera motion can provide more reliable motion estimation, they can be used to instruct unsupervised learning of optical flow. Our experiments in KITTI dataset demonstrate that the model based on three regions, full and explicit segmentation of the occlusion region, the rigid region, and the non-rigid region with corresponding unsupervised losses can improve performance on three tasks significantly. Bimodal Stereo: Joint Shape and Pose Estimation from Color-Depth Image Pair

Chi Zhang, Yuehu Liu, Ying Wu et al.

Mutual calibration between color and depth cameras is a challenging topic in multi-modal data registration. In this paper, we are confronted with a "Bimodal Stereo" problem, which aims to solve camera pose from a pair of an uncalibrated color image and a depth map from different views automatically. To address this problem, an iterative Shape-from-Shading (SfS) based framework is proposed to estimate shape and pose simultaneously. In the pipeline, the estimated shape is refined by the shape prior from the given depth map under the estimated pose. Meanwhile, the estimated pose is improved by the registration of estimated shape and shape from given depth map. We also introduce a shading based refinement in the pipeline to address noisy depth map with holes. Extensive experiments showed that through our method, both the depth map, the recovered shape as well as its pose can be desirably refined and recovered.
