LEEC: A Legal Element Extraction Dataset with an Extensive Domain-Specific Label System

Xue Zongyue, Liu Huanghai, Hu Yiran et al.

As a pivotal task in natural language processing, element extraction has gained significance in the legal domain. Extracting legal elements from judicial documents helps enhance interpretative and analytical capacities of legal cases, and thereby facilitating a wide array of downstream applications in various domains of law. Yet existing element extraction datasets are limited by their restricted access to legal knowledge and insufficient coverage of labels. To address this shortfall, we introduce a more comprehensive, large-scale criminal element extraction dataset, comprising 15,831 judicial documents and 159 labels. This dataset was constructed through two main steps: first, designing the label system by our team of legal experts based on prior legal research which identified critical factors driving and processes generating sentencing outcomes in criminal cases; second, employing the legal knowledge to annotate judicial documents according to the label system and annotation guideline. The Legal Element ExtraCtion dataset (LEEC) represents the most extensive and domain-specific legal element extraction dataset for the Chinese legal system. Leveraging the annotated data, we employed various SOTA models that validates the applicability of LEEC for Document Event Extraction (DEE) task. The LEEC dataset is available on https://github.com/THUlawtech/LEEC .

Towards Interactive Intelligence for Digital Humans

Yiyi Cai, Xuangeng Chu, Xiwei Gao et al.

We introduce Interactive Intelligence, a novel paradigm of digital human that is capable of personality-aligned expression, adaptive interaction, and self-evolution. To realize this, we present Mio (Multimodal Interactive Omni-Avatar), an end-to-end framework composed of five specialized modules: Thinker, Talker, Face Animator, Body Animator, and Renderer. This unified architecture integrates cognitive reasoning with real-time multimodal embodiment to enable fluid, consistent interaction. Furthermore, we establish a new benchmark to rigorously evaluate the capabilities of interactive intelligence. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our framework achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods across all evaluated dimensions. Together, these contributions move digital humans beyond superficial imitation toward intelligent interaction.

Scaling Wearable Foundation Models

Girish Narayanswamy, Xin Liu, Kumar Ayush et al.

Wearable sensors have become ubiquitous thanks to a variety of health tracking features. The resulting continuous and longitudinal measurements from everyday life generate large volumes of data; however, making sense of these observations for scientific and actionable insights is non-trivial. Inspired by the empirical success of generative modeling, where large neural networks learn powerful representations from vast amounts of text, image, video, or audio data, we investigate the scaling properties of sensor foundation models across compute, data, and model size. Using a dataset of up to 40 million hours of in-situ heart rate, heart rate variability, electrodermal activity, accelerometer, skin temperature, and altimeter per-minute data from over 165,000 people, we create LSM, a multimodal foundation model built on the largest wearable-signals dataset with the most extensive range of sensor modalities to date. Our results establish the scaling laws of LSM for tasks such as imputation, interpolation and extrapolation, both across time and sensor modalities. Moreover, we highlight how LSM enables sample-efficient downstream learning for tasks like exercise and activity recognition.

Mimicking-Bench: A Benchmark for Generalizable Humanoid-Scene Interaction Learning via Human Mimicking

Yun Liu, Bowen Yang, Licheng Zhong et al.

Learning generic skills for humanoid robots interacting with 3D scenes by mimicking human data is a key research challenge with significant implications for robotics and real-world applications. However, existing methodologies and benchmarks are constrained by the use of small-scale, manually collected demonstrations, lacking the general dataset and benchmark support necessary to explore scene geometry generalization effectively. To address this gap, we introduce Mimicking-Bench, the first comprehensive benchmark designed for generalizable humanoid-scene interaction learning through mimicking large-scale human animation references. Mimicking-Bench includes six household full-body humanoid-scene interaction tasks, covering 11K diverse object shapes, along with 20K synthetic and 3K real-world human interaction skill references. We construct a complete humanoid skill learning pipeline and benchmark approaches for motion retargeting, motion tracking, imitation learning, and their various combinations. Extensive experiments highlight the value of human mimicking for skill learning, revealing key challenges and research directions.

A Comprehensive Survey on Video Scene Parsing:Advances, Challenges, and Prospects

Guohuan Xie, Syed Ariff Syed Hesham, Wenya Guo et al.

Video Scene Parsing (VSP) has emerged as a cornerstone in computer vision, facilitating the simultaneous segmentation, recognition, and tracking of diverse visual entities in dynamic scenes. In this survey, we present a holistic review of recent advances in VSP, covering a wide array of vision tasks, including Video Semantic Segmentation (VSS), Video Instance Segmentation (VIS), Video Panoptic Segmentation (VPS), as well as Video Tracking and Segmentation (VTS), and Open-Vocabulary Video Segmentation (OVVS). We systematically analyze the evolution from traditional hand-crafted features to modern deep learning paradigms -- spanning from fully convolutional networks to the latest transformer-based architectures -- and assess their effectiveness in capturing both local and global temporal contexts. Furthermore, our review critically discusses the technical challenges, ranging from maintaining temporal consistency to handling complex scene dynamics, and offers a comprehensive comparative study of datasets and evaluation metrics that have shaped current benchmarking standards. By distilling the key contributions and shortcomings of state-of-the-art methodologies, this survey highlights emerging trends and prospective research directions that promise to further elevate the robustness and adaptability of VSP in real-world applications.

Transforming Wearable Data into Personal Health Insights using Large Language Model Agents

Mike A. Merrill, Akshay Paruchuri, Naghmeh Rezaei et al.

Deriving personalized insights from popular wearable trackers requires complex numerical reasoning that challenges standard LLMs, necessitating tool-based approaches like code generation. Large language model (LLM) agents present a promising yet largely untapped solution for this analysis at scale. We introduce the Personal Health Insights Agent (PHIA), a system leveraging multistep reasoning with code generation and information retrieval to analyze and interpret behavioral health data. To test its capabilities, we create and share two benchmark datasets with over 4000 health insights questions. A 650-hour human expert evaluation shows that PHIA significantly outperforms a strong code generation baseline, achieving 84% accuracy on objective, numerical questions and, for open-ended ones, earning 83% favorable ratings while being twice as likely to achieve the highest quality rating. This work can advance behavioral health by empowering individuals to understand their data, enabling a new era of accessible, personalized, and data-driven wellness for the wider population.

Coarse-grained decomposition and fine-grained interaction for multi-hop question answering

Xing Cao, Yun Liu

Recent advances regarding question answering and reading comprehension have resulted in models that surpass human performance when the answer is contained in a single, continuous passage of text, requiring only single-hop reasoning. However, in actual scenarios, lots of complex queries require multi-hop reasoning. The key to the Question Answering task is semantic feature interaction between documents and questions, which is widely processed by Bi-directional Attention Flow (Bi-DAF), but Bi-DAF generally captures only the surface semantics of words in complex questions and fails to capture implied semantic feature of intermediate answers. As a result, Bi-DAF partially ignores part of the contexts related to the question and cannot extract the most important parts of multiple documents. In this paper we propose a new model architecture for multi-hop question answering, by applying two completion strategies: (1) Coarse-Grain complex question Decomposition (CGDe) strategy are introduced to decompose complex question into simple ones under the condition of without any additional annotations (2) Fine-Grained Interaction (FGIn) strategy are introduced to better represent each word in the document and extract more comprehensive and accurate sentences related to the inference path. The above two strategies are combined and tested on the SQuAD and HotpotQA datasets, and the experimental results show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art baselines.

Personalized Recommender System for Children's Book Recommendation with A Realtime Interactive Robot

Yun Liu, Tianmeng Gao, Baolin Song et al.

In this paper we study the personalized book recommender system in a child-robot interactive environment. Firstly, we propose a novel text search algorithm using an inverse filtering mechanism that improves the efficiency. Secondly, we propose a user interest prediction method based on the Bayesian network and a novel feedback mechanism. According to children's fuzzy language input, the proposed method gives the predicted interests. Thirdly, the domain specific synonym association is proposed based on word vectorization, in order to improve the understanding of user intention. Experimental results show that the proposed recommender system has an improved performance and it can operate on embedded consumer devices with limited computational resources.
