ParZC: Parametric Zero-Cost Proxies for Efficient NAS

Peijie Dong, Lujun Li, Xinglin Pan et al.

Recent advancements in Zero-shot Neural Architecture Search (NAS) highlight the efficacy of zero-cost proxies in various NAS benchmarks. Several studies propose the automated design of zero-cost proxies to achieve SOTA performance but require tedious searching progress. Furthermore, we identify a critical issue with current zero-cost proxies: they aggregate node-wise zero-cost statistics without considering the fact that not all nodes in a neural network equally impact performance estimation. Our observations reveal that node-wise zero-cost statistics significantly vary in their contributions to performance, with each node exhibiting a degree of uncertainty. Based on this insight, we introduce a novel method called Parametric Zero-Cost Proxies (ParZC) framework to enhance the adaptability of zero-cost proxies through parameterization. To address the node indiscrimination, we propose a Mixer Architecture with Bayesian Network (MABN) to explore the node-wise zero-cost statistics and estimate node-specific uncertainty. Moreover, we propose DiffKendall as a loss function to directly optimize Kendall's Tau coefficient in a differentiable manner so that our ParZC can better handle the discrepancies in ranking architectures. Comprehensive experiments on NAS-Bench-101, 201, and NDS demonstrate the superiority of our proposed ParZC compared to existing zero-shot NAS methods. Additionally, we demonstrate the versatility and adaptability of ParZC by transferring it to the Vision Transformer search space.

Learning Shape-Independent Transformation via Spherical Representations for Category-Level Object Pose Estimation

Huan Ren, Wenfei Yang, Xiang Liu et al.

Category-level object pose estimation aims to determine the pose and size of novel objects in specific categories. Existing correspondence-based approaches typically adopt point-based representations to establish the correspondences between primitive observed points and normalized object coordinates. However, due to the inherent shape-dependence of canonical coordinates, these methods suffer from semantic incoherence across diverse object shapes. To resolve this issue, we innovatively leverage the sphere as a shared proxy shape of objects to learn shape-independent transformation via spherical representations. Based on this insight, we introduce a novel architecture called SpherePose, which yields precise correspondence prediction through three core designs. Firstly, We endow the point-wise feature extraction with SO(3)-invariance, which facilitates robust mapping between camera coordinate space and object coordinate space regardless of rotation transformation. Secondly, the spherical attention mechanism is designed to propagate and integrate features among spherical anchors from a comprehensive perspective, thus mitigating the interference of noise and incomplete point cloud. Lastly, a hyperbolic correspondence loss function is designed to distinguish subtle distinctions, which can promote the precision of correspondence prediction. Experimental results on CAMERA25, REAL275 and HouseCat6D benchmarks demonstrate the superior performance of our method, verifying the effectiveness of spherical representations and architectural innovations.

AnTKV: Anchor Token-Aware Sub-Bit Vector Quantization for KV Cache in Large Language Models

Zeyu Li, Chuanfu Xiao, Yang Wang et al.

Quantization has emerged as an effective and lightweight solution to reduce the memory footprint of the KV cache in Large Language Models. Nevertheless, minimizing the accuracy degradation caused by ultra-low-bit KV cache quantization remains a significant challenge. While scalar quantization is constrained by 1-bit bound, vector quantization exploits intra-vector correlations and enables sub-bit regimes, making it more suitable for ultra-low-bit quantization. To further mitigate quantization-induced degradation, we reveal that the degradation is highly uneven across tokens in attention quality. To investigate this unevenness, we introduce anchor score to measure each token's sensitivity to quantization. Our analysis and experiments show that preserving a small subset (1\%) of tokens with the highest Anchor Score significantly mitigates accuracy loss under aggressive quantization. We propose AnTKV, a dual-stage framework that leverages anchor token-aware vector quantization to compress the KV cache. It combines offline token-aware centroids learning and online anchor token selection to balance compression and accuracy. To enable efficient deployment, we design an online anchor token selection kernel compatible with FlashAttention. It allows LLaMA3-8B to scale to 840K tokens on a single 80GB A100, while delivering up to $3.5\times$ higher decoding throughput over the FP16 baseline. Experiments demonstrate that AnTKV matches or surpasses prior methods at 4-bit, and significantly reduce perplexity under ultra-low-bit quantization, achieving 6.32 at 1-bit on Mistral-7B, compared to 7.25 for CQ and 15.36 for KVQuant.

S3TU-Net: Structured Convolution and Superpixel Transformer for Lung Nodule Segmentation

Yuke Wu, Xiang Liu, Yunyu Shi et al.

The irregular and challenging characteristics of lung adenocarcinoma nodules in computed tomography (CT) images complicate staging diagnosis, making accurate segmentation critical for clinicians to extract detailed lesion information. In this study, we propose a segmentation model, S3TU-Net, which integrates multi-dimensional spatial connectors and a superpixel-based visual transformer. S3TU-Net is built on a multi-view CNN-Transformer hybrid architecture, incorporating superpixel algorithms, structured weighting, and spatial shifting techniques to achieve superior segmentation performance. The model leverages structured convolution blocks (DWF-Conv/D2BR-Conv) to extract multi-scale local features while mitigating overfitting. To enhance multi-scale feature fusion, we introduce the S2-MLP Link, integrating spatial shifting and attention mechanisms at the skip connections. Additionally, the residual-based superpixel visual transformer (RM-SViT) effectively merges global and local features by employing sparse correlation learning and multi-branch attention to capture long-range dependencies, with residual connections enhancing stability and computational efficiency. Experimental results on the LIDC-IDRI dataset demonstrate that S3TU-Net achieves a DSC, precision, and IoU of 89.04%, 90.73%, and 90.70%, respectively. Compared to recent methods, S3TU-Net improves DSC by 4.52% and sensitivity by 3.16%, with other metrics showing an approximate 2% increase. In addition to comparison and ablation studies, we validated the generalization ability of our model on the EPDB private dataset, achieving a DSC of 86.40%.

Diverse Part Discovery: Occluded Person Re-identification with Part-Aware Transformer

Yulin Li, Jianfeng He, Tianzhu Zhang et al.

Occluded person re-identification (Re-ID) is a challenging task as persons are frequently occluded by various obstacles or other persons, especially in the crowd scenario. To address these issues, we propose a novel end-to-end Part-Aware Transformer (PAT) for occluded person Re-ID through diverse part discovery via a transformer encoderdecoder architecture, including a pixel context based transformer encoder and a part prototype based transformer decoder. The proposed PAT model enjoys several merits. First, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to exploit the transformer encoder-decoder architecture for occluded person Re-ID in a unified deep model. Second, to learn part prototypes well with only identity labels, we design two effective mechanisms including part diversity and part discriminability. Consequently, we can achieve diverse part discovery for occluded person Re-ID in a weakly supervised manner. Extensive experimental results on six challenging benchmarks for three tasks (occluded, partial and holistic Re-ID) demonstrate that our proposed PAT performs favorably against stat-of-the-art methods.
