Phi-4-Mini Technical Report: Compact yet Powerful Multimodal Language Models via Mixture-of-LoRAs

We introduce Phi-4-Mini and Phi-4-Multimodal, compact yet highly capable language and multimodal models. Phi-4-Mini is a 3.8-billion-parameter language model trained on high-quality web and synthetic data, significantly outperforming recent open-source models of similar size and matching the performance of models twice its size on math and coding tasks requiring complex reasoning. This achievement is driven by a carefully curated synthetic data recipe emphasizing high-quality math and coding datasets. Compared to its predecessor, Phi-3.5-Mini, Phi-4-Mini features an expanded vocabulary size of 200K tokens to better support multilingual applications, as well as group query attention for more efficient long-sequence generation. Phi-4-Multimodal is a multimodal model that integrates text, vision, and speech/audio input modalities into a single model. Its novel modality extension approach leverages LoRA adapters and modality-specific routers to allow multiple inference modes combining various modalities without interference. For example, it now ranks first in the OpenASR leaderboard to date, although the LoRA component of the speech/audio modality has just 460 million parameters. Phi-4-Multimodal supports scenarios involving (vision + language), (vision + speech), and (speech/audio) inputs, outperforming larger vision-language and speech-language models on a wide range of tasks. Additionally, we experiment to further train Phi-4-Mini to enhance its reasoning capabilities. Despite its compact 3.8-billion-parameter size, this experimental version achieves reasoning performance on par with or surpassing significantly larger models, including DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-7B and DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama-8B.

DS-1000: A Natural and Reliable Benchmark for Data Science Code Generation

We introduce DS-1000, a code generation benchmark with a thousand data science problems spanning seven Python libraries, such as NumPy and Pandas. Compared to prior works, DS-1000 incorporates three core features. First, our problems reflect diverse, realistic, and practical use cases since we collected them from StackOverflow. Second, our automatic evaluation is highly specific (reliable) -- across all Codex-002-predicted solutions that our evaluation accept, only 1.8% of them are incorrect; we achieve this with multi-criteria metrics, checking both functional correctness by running test cases and surface-form constraints by restricting API usages or keywords. Finally, we proactively defend against memorization by slightly modifying our problems to be different from the original StackOverflow source; consequently, models cannot answer them correctly by memorizing the solutions from pre-training. The current best public system (Codex-002) achieves 43.3% accuracy, leaving ample room for improvement. We release our benchmark at https://ds1000-code-gen.github.io.

NeuS2: Fast Learning of Neural Implicit Surfaces for Multi-view Reconstruction

Recent methods for neural surface representation and rendering, for example NeuS, have demonstrated the remarkably high-quality reconstruction of static scenes. However, the training of NeuS takes an extremely long time (8 hours), which makes it almost impossible to apply them to dynamic scenes with thousands of frames. We propose a fast neural surface reconstruction approach, called NeuS2, which achieves two orders of magnitude improvement in terms of acceleration without compromising reconstruction quality. To accelerate the training process, we parameterize a neural surface representation by multi-resolution hash encodings and present a novel lightweight calculation of second-order derivatives tailored to our networks to leverage CUDA parallelism, achieving a factor two speed up. To further stabilize and expedite training, a progressive learning strategy is proposed to optimize multi-resolution hash encodings from coarse to fine. We extend our method for fast training of dynamic scenes, with a proposed incremental training strategy and a novel global transformation prediction component, which allow our method to handle challenging long sequences with large movements and deformations. Our experiments on various datasets demonstrate that NeuS2 significantly outperforms the state-of-the-arts in both surface reconstruction accuracy and training speed for both static and dynamic scenes. Supervision-Guided Codebooks for Masked Prediction in Speech Pre-training

Recently, masked prediction pre-training has seen remarkable progress in self-supervised learning (SSL) for speech recognition. It usually requires a codebook obtained in an unsupervised way, making it less accurate and difficult to interpret. We propose two supervision-guided codebook generation approaches to improve automatic speech recognition (ASR) performance and also the pre-training efficiency, either through decoding with a hybrid ASR system to generate phoneme-level alignments (named PBERT), or performing clustering on the supervised speech features extracted from an end-to-end CTC model (named CTC clustering). Both the hybrid and CTC models are trained on the same small amount of labeled speech as used in fine-tuning. Experiments demonstrate significant superiority of our methods to various SSL and self-training baselines, with up to 17.0% relative WER reduction. Our pre-trained models also show good transferability in a non-ASR speech task.

ConfMix: Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Object Detection via Confidence-based Mixing

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) for object detection aims to adapt a model trained on a source domain to detect instances from a new target domain for which annotations are not available. Different from traditional approaches, we propose ConfMix, the first method that introduces a sample mixing strategy based on region-level detection confidence for adaptive object detector learning. We mix the local region of the target sample that corresponds to the most confident pseudo detections with a source image, and apply an additional consistency loss term to gradually adapt towards the target data distribution. In order to robustly define a confidence score for a region, we exploit the confidence score per pseudo detection that accounts for both the detector-dependent confidence and the bounding box uncertainty. Moreover, we propose a novel pseudo labelling scheme that progressively filters the pseudo target detections using the confidence metric that varies from a loose to strict manner along the training. We perform extensive experiments with three datasets, achieving state-of-the-art performance in two of them and approaching the supervised target model performance in the other. PI-Trans: Parallel-ConvMLP and Implicit-Transformation Based GAN for Cross-View Image Translation

For semantic-guided cross-view image translation, it is crucial to learn where to sample pixels from the source view image and where to reallocate them guided by the target view semantic map, especially when there is little overlap or drastic view difference between the source and target images. Hence, one not only needs to encode the long-range dependencies among pixels in both the source view image and target view semantic map but also needs to translate these learned dependencies. To this end, we propose a novel generative adversarial network, PI-Trans, which mainly consists of a novel Parallel-ConvMLP module and an Implicit Transformation module at multiple semantic levels. Extensive experimental results show that PI-Trans achieves the best qualitative and quantitative performance by a large margin compared to the state-of-the-art methods on two challenging datasets. Igniting Language Intelligence: The Hitchhiker's Guide From Chain-of-Thought Reasoning to Language Agents

Large language models (LLMs) have dramatically enhanced the field of language intelligence, as demonstrably evidenced by their formidable empirical performance across a spectrum of complex reasoning tasks. Additionally, theoretical proofs have illuminated their emergent reasoning capabilities, providing a compelling showcase of their advanced cognitive abilities in linguistic contexts. Critical to their remarkable efficacy in handling complex reasoning tasks, LLMs leverage the intriguing chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning techniques, obliging them to formulate intermediate steps en route to deriving an answer. The CoT reasoning approach has not only exhibited proficiency in amplifying reasoning performance but also in enhancing interpretability, controllability, and flexibility. In light of these merits, recent research endeavors have extended CoT reasoning methodologies to nurture the development of autonomous language agents, which adeptly adhere to language instructions and execute actions within varied environments. This survey paper orchestrates a thorough discourse, penetrating vital research dimensions, encompassing: (i) the foundational mechanics of CoT techniques, with a focus on elucidating the circumstances and justification behind its efficacy; (ii) the paradigm shift in CoT; and (iii) the burgeoning of language agents fortified by CoT approaches. Prospective research avenues envelop explorations into generalization, efficiency, customization, scaling, and safety. This paper caters to a wide audience, including beginners seeking comprehensive knowledge of CoT reasoning and language agents, as well as experienced researchers interested in foundational mechanics and engaging in cutting-edge discussions on these topics. Order within Chaos: Capturing Intrinsic Energy Anomalies for AI-Manipulated Image Forgery Localization

Recent advancements in generative AI have led to image editing models capable of producing realistic forgeries that evade traditional image forgery localization methods, as these approaches depend on physical noise absent in synthetic data. To address this challenge, we theoretically demonstrate that the diffusion process inherently suppresses local high-frequency variance, creating a statistical energy gap that is distinguishable from the natural entropy of optical imaging. Guided by this insight, we propose FLAME, a unified framework that utilizes a LAD map to capture these intrinsic anomalies, coupled with a parameter-efficient adapter for SAM to achieve precise, pixel-level forgery localization. Furthermore, to bridge the lag between forensic benchmarks and evolving generative models, we introduce EditStream, an automated pipeline for continuous, instruction-based training data synthesis. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FLAME establishes a new state-of-the-art, significantly outperforming previous methods on AI-generated forgery datasets while effectively generalizing to unseen generative architectures. Meta-Reasoning: Semantics-Symbol Deconstruction for Large Language Models

Neural-symbolic methods have demonstrated efficiency in enhancing the reasoning abilities of large language models (LLMs). However, existing methods mainly rely on syntactically mapping natural languages to complete formal languages like Python and SQL. Those methods require that reasoning tasks be convertible into programs, which cater to the computer execution mindset and deviate from human reasoning habits. To broaden symbolic methods' applicability and adaptability in the real world, we propose the Meta-Reasoning from a linguistic perspective. This method empowers LLMs to deconstruct reasoning-independent semantic information into generic symbolic representations, thereby efficiently capturing more generalized reasoning knowledge. We conduct extensive experiments on more than ten datasets encompassing conventional reasoning tasks like arithmetic, symbolic, and logical reasoning, and the more complex interactive reasoning tasks like theory-of-mind reasoning. Experimental results demonstrate that Meta-Reasoning significantly enhances in-context reasoning accuracy, learning efficiency, out-of-domain generalization, and output stability compared to the Chain-of-Thought technique. Self-Enhancement Improves Text-Image Retrieval in Foundation Visual-Language Models

The emergence of cross-modal foundation models has introduced numerous approaches grounded in text-image retrieval. However, on some domain-specific retrieval tasks, these models fail to focus on the key attributes required. To address this issue, we propose a self-enhancement framework, A^{3}R, based on the CLIP-ViT/G-14, one of the largest cross-modal models. First, we perform an Attribute Augmentation strategy to enrich the textual description for fine-grained representation before model learning. Then, we propose an Adaption Re-ranking method to unify the representation space of textual query and candidate images and re-rank candidate images relying on the adapted query after model learning. The proposed framework is validated to achieve a salient improvement over the baseline and other teams' solutions in the cross-modal image retrieval track of the 1st foundation model challenge without introducing any additional samples. Neural Novel Actor: Learning a Generalized Animatable Neural Representation for Human Actors

We propose a new method for learning a generalized animatable neural human representation from a sparse set of multi-view imagery of multiple persons. The learned representation can be used to synthesize novel view images of an arbitrary person from a sparse set of cameras, and further animate them with the user's pose control. While existing methods can either generalize to new persons or synthesize animations with user control, none of them can achieve both at the same time. We attribute this accomplishment to the employment of a 3D proxy for a shared multi-person human model, and further the warping of the spaces of different poses to a shared canonical pose space, in which we learn a neural field and predict the person- and pose-dependent deformations, as well as appearance with the features extracted from input images. To cope with the complexity of the large variations in body shapes, poses, and clothing deformations, we design our neural human model with disentangled geometry and appearance. Furthermore, we utilize the image features both at the spatial point and on the surface points of the 3D proxy for predicting person- and pose-dependent properties. Query Your Model with Definitions in FrameNet: An Effective Method for Frame Semantic Role Labeling

Frame Semantic Role Labeling (FSRL) identifies arguments and labels them with frame semantic roles defined in FrameNet. Previous researches tend to divide FSRL into argument identification and role classification. Such methods usually model role classification as naive multi-class classification and treat arguments individually, which neglects label semantics and interactions between arguments and thus hindering performance and generalization of models. In this paper, we propose a query-based framework named ArGument Extractor with Definitions in FrameNet (AGED) to mitigate these problems. Definitions of frames and frame elements (FEs) in FrameNet can be used to query arguments in text. Encoding text-definition pairs can guide models in learning label semantics and strengthening argument interactions. Experiments show that AGED outperforms previous state-of-the-art by up to 1.3 F1-score in two FrameNet datasets and the generalization power of AGED in zero-shot and fewshot scenarios. Vocabulary-free Image Classification

Recent advances in large vision-language models have revolutionized the image classification paradigm. Despite showing impressive zero-shot capabilities, a pre-defined set of categories, a.k.a. the vocabulary, is assumed at test time for composing the textual prompts. However, such assumption can be impractical when the semantic context is unknown and evolving. We thus formalize a novel task, termed as Vocabulary-free Image Classification (VIC), where we aim to assign to an input image a class that resides in an unconstrained language-induced semantic space, without the prerequisite of a known vocabulary. VIC is a challenging task as the semantic space is extremely large, containing millions of concepts, with hard-to-discriminate fine-grained categories. In this work, we first empirically verify that representing this semantic space by means of an external vision-language database is the most effective way to obtain semantically relevant content for classifying the image. We then propose Category Search from External Databases (CaSED), a method that exploits a pre-trained vision-language model and an external vision-language database to address VIC in a training-free manner. CaSED first extracts a set of candidate categories from captions retrieved from the database based on their semantic similarity to the image, and then assigns to the image the best matching candidate category according to the same vision-language model. Experiments on benchmark datasets validate that CaSED outperforms other complex vision-language frameworks, while being efficient with much fewer parameters, paving the way for future research in this direction.

Attentive Multimodal Fusion for Optical and Scene Flow

This paper presents an investigation into the estimation of optical and scene flow using RGBD information in scenarios where the RGB modality is affected by noise or captured in dark environments. Existing methods typically rely solely on RGB images or fuse the modalities at later stages, which can result in lower accuracy when the RGB information is unreliable. To address this issue, we propose a novel deep neural network approach named FusionRAFT, which enables early-stage information fusion between sensor modalities (RGB and depth). Our approach incorporates self- and cross-attention layers at different network levels to construct informative features that leverage the strengths of both modalities. Through comparative experiments, we demonstrate that our approach outperforms recent methods in terms of performance on the synthetic dataset Flyingthings3D, as well as the generalization on the real-world dataset KITTI. We illustrate that our approach exhibits improved robustness in the presence of noise and low-lighting conditions that affect the RGB images. LCReg: Long-Tailed Image Classification with Latent Categories based Recognition

In this work, we tackle the challenging problem of long-tailed image recognition. Previous long-tailed recognition approaches mainly focus on data augmentation or re-balancing strategies for the tail classes to give them more attention during model training. However, these methods are limited by the small number of training images for the tail classes, which results in poor feature representations. To address this issue, we propose the Latent Categories based long-tail Recognition (LCReg) method. Our hypothesis is that common latent features shared by head and tail classes can be used to improve feature representation. Specifically, we learn a set of class-agnostic latent features shared by both head and tail classes, and then use semantic data augmentation on the latent features to implicitly increase the diversity of the training sample. We conduct extensive experiments on five long-tailed image recognition datasets, and the results show that our proposed method significantly improves the baselines.

3DSGrasp: 3D Shape-Completion for Robotic Grasp

Real-world robotic grasping can be done robustly if a complete 3D Point Cloud Data (PCD) of an object is available. However, in practice, PCDs are often incomplete when objects are viewed from few and sparse viewpoints before the grasping action, leading to the generation of wrong or inaccurate grasp poses. We propose a novel grasping strategy, named 3DSGrasp, that predicts the missing geometry from the partial PCD to produce reliable grasp poses. Our proposed PCD completion network is a Transformer-based encoder-decoder network with an Offset-Attention layer. Our network is inherently invariant to the object pose and point's permutation, which generates PCDs that are geometrically consistent and completed properly. Experiments on a wide range of partial PCD show that 3DSGrasp outperforms the best state-of-the-art method on PCD completion tasks and largely improves the grasping success rate in real-world scenarios. Spatial Commonsense Graph for Object Localisation in Partial Scenes

We solve object localisation in partial scenes, a new problem of estimating the unknown position of an object (e.g. where is the bag?) given a partial 3D scan of a scene. The proposed solution is based on a novel scene graph model, the Spatial Commonsense Graph (SCG), where objects are the nodes and edges define pairwise distances between them, enriched by concept nodes and relationships from a commonsense knowledge base. This allows SCG to better generalise its spatial inference over unknown 3D scenes. The SCG is used to estimate the unknown position of the target object in two steps: first, we feed the SCG into a novel Proximity Prediction Network, a graph neural network that uses attention to perform distance prediction between the node representing the target object and the nodes representing the observed objects in the SCG; second, we propose a Localisation Module based on circular intersection to estimate the object position using all the predicted pairwise distances in order to be independent of any reference system. We create a new dataset of partially reconstructed scenes to benchmark our method and baselines for object localisation in partial scenes, where our proposed method achieves the best localisation performance.

Cluster-level pseudo-labelling for source-free cross-domain facial expression recognition

Automatically understanding emotions from visual data is a fundamental task for human behaviour understanding. While models devised for Facial Expression Recognition (FER) have demonstrated excellent performances on many datasets, they often suffer from severe performance degradation when trained and tested on different datasets due to domain shift. In addition, as face images are considered highly sensitive data, the accessibility to large-scale datasets for model training is often denied. In this work, we tackle the above-mentioned problems by proposing the first Source-Free Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (SFUDA) method for FER. Our method exploits self-supervised pretraining to learn good feature representations from the target data and proposes a novel and robust cluster-level pseudo-labelling strategy that accounts for in-cluster statistics. We validate the effectiveness of our method in four adaptation setups, proving that it consistently outperforms existing SFUDA methods when applied to FER, and is on par with methods addressing FER in the UDA setting.

RetroDiff: Retrosynthesis as Multi-stage Distribution Interpolation

Retrosynthesis poses a key challenge in biopharmaceuticals, aiding chemists in finding appropriate reactant molecules for given product molecules. With reactants and products represented as 2D graphs, retrosynthesis constitutes a conditional graph-to-graph (G2G) generative task. Inspired by advancements in discrete diffusion models for graph generation, we aim to design a diffusion-based method to address this problem. However, integrating a diffusion-based G2G framework while retaining essential chemical reaction template information presents a notable challenge. Our key innovation involves a multi-stage diffusion process. We decompose the retrosynthesis procedure to first sample external groups from the dummy distribution given products, then generate external bonds to connect products and generated groups. Interestingly, this generation process mirrors the reverse of the widely adapted semi-template retrosynthesis workflow, \emph{i.e.} from reaction center identification to synthon completion. Based on these designs, we introduce Retrosynthesis Diffusion (RetroDiff), a novel diffusion-based method for the retrosynthesis task. Experimental results demonstrate that RetroDiff surpasses all semi-template methods in accuracy, and outperforms template-based and template-free methods in large-scale scenarios and molecular validity, respectively. Long-tailed Recognition by Learning from Latent Categories

In this work, we address the challenging task of long-tailed image recognition. Previous long-tailed recognition methods commonly focus on the data augmentation or re-balancing strategy of the tail classes to give more attention to tail classes during the model training. However, due to the limited training images for tail classes, the diversity of tail class images is still restricted, which results in poor feature representations. In this work, we hypothesize that common latent features among the head and tail classes can be used to give better feature representation. Motivated by this, we introduce a Latent Categories based long-tail Recognition (LCReg) method. Specifically, we propose to learn a set of class-agnostic latent features shared among the head and tail classes. Then, we implicitly enrich the training sample diversity via applying semantic data augmentation to the latent features. Extensive experiments on five long-tailed image recognition datasets demonstrate that our proposed LCReg is able to significantly outperform previous methods and achieve state-of-the-art results.

Delving into CLIP latent space for Video Anomaly Recognition

We tackle the complex problem of detecting and recognising anomalies in surveillance videos at the frame level, utilising only video-level supervision. We introduce the novel method AnomalyCLIP, the first to combine Large Language and Vision (LLV) models, such as CLIP, with multiple instance learning for joint video anomaly detection and classification. Our approach specifically involves manipulating the latent CLIP feature space to identify the normal event subspace, which in turn allows us to effectively learn text-driven directions for abnormal events. When anomalous frames are projected onto these directions, they exhibit a large feature magnitude if they belong to a particular class. We also introduce a computationally efficient Transformer architecture to model short- and long-term temporal dependencies between frames, ultimately producing the final anomaly score and class prediction probabilities. We compare AnomalyCLIP against state-of-the-art methods considering three major anomaly detection benchmarks, i.e. ShanghaiTech, UCF-Crime, and XD-Violence, and empirically show that it outperforms baselines in recognising video anomalies.

Leveraging commonsense for object localisation in partial scenes

We propose an end-to-end solution to address the problem of object localisation in partial scenes, where we aim to estimate the position of an object in an unknown area given only a partial 3D scan of the scene. We propose a novel scene representation to facilitate the geometric reasoning, Directed Spatial Commonsense Graph (D-SCG), a spatial scene graph that is enriched with additional concept nodes from a commonsense knowledge base. Specifically, the nodes of D-SCG represent the scene objects and the edges are their relative positions. Each object node is then connected via different commonsense relationships to a set of concept nodes. With the proposed graph-based scene representation, we estimate the unknown position of the target object using a Graph Neural Network that implements a novel attentional message passing mechanism. The network first predicts the relative positions between the target object and each visible object by learning a rich representation of the objects via aggregating both the object nodes and the concept nodes in D-SCG. These relative positions then are merged to obtain the final position. We evaluate our method using Partial ScanNet, improving the state-of-the-art by 5.9% in terms of the localisation accuracy at a 8x faster training speed.

This report presents Wan, a comprehensive and open suite of video foundation models designed to push the boundaries of video generation. Built upon the mainstream diffusion transformer paradigm, Wan achieves significant advancements in generative capabilities through a series of innovations, including our novel VAE, scalable pre-training strategies, large-scale data curation, and automated evaluation metrics. These contributions collectively enhance the model's performance and versatility. Specifically, Wan is characterized by four key features: Leading Performance: The 14B model of Wan, trained on a vast dataset comprising billions of images and videos, demonstrates the scaling laws of video generation with respect to both data and model size. It consistently outperforms the existing open-source models as well as state-of-the-art commercial solutions across multiple internal and external benchmarks, demonstrating a clear and significant performance superiority. Comprehensiveness: Wan offers two capable models, i.e., 1.3B and 14B parameters, for efficiency and effectiveness respectively. It also covers multiple downstream applications, including image-to-video, instruction-guided video editing, and personal video generation, encompassing up to eight tasks. Consumer-Grade Efficiency: The 1.3B model demonstrates exceptional resource efficiency, requiring only 8.19 GB VRAM, making it compatible with a wide range of consumer-grade GPUs. Openness: We open-source the entire series of Wan, including source code and all models, with the goal of fostering the growth of the video generation community. This openness seeks to significantly expand the creative possibilities of video production in the industry and provide academia with high-quality video foundation models. Positional Diffusion: Ordering Unordered Sets with Diffusion Probabilistic Models

Positional reasoning is the process of ordering unsorted parts contained in a set into a consistent structure. We present Positional Diffusion, a plug-and-play graph formulation with Diffusion Probabilistic Models to address positional reasoning. We use the forward process to map elements' positions in a set to random positions in a continuous space. Positional Diffusion learns to reverse the noising process and recover the original positions through an Attention-based Graph Neural Network. We conduct extensive experiments with benchmark datasets including two puzzle datasets, three sentence ordering datasets, and one visual storytelling dataset, demonstrating that our method outperforms long-lasting research on puzzle solving with up to +18% compared to the second-best deep learning method, and performs on par against the state-of-the-art methods on sentence ordering and visual storytelling. Our work highlights the suitability of diffusion models for ordering problems and proposes a novel formulation and method for solving various ordering tasks. Physics-Informed Learning of Characteristic Trajectories for Smoke Reconstruction

We delve into the physics-informed neural reconstruction of smoke and obstacles through sparse-view RGB videos, tackling challenges arising from limited observation of complex dynamics. Existing physics-informed neural networks often emphasize short-term physics constraints, leaving the proper preservation of long-term conservation less explored. We introduce Neural Characteristic Trajectory Fields, a novel representation utilizing Eulerian neural fields to implicitly model Lagrangian fluid trajectories. This topology-free, auto-differentiable representation facilitates efficient flow map calculations between arbitrary frames as well as efficient velocity extraction via auto-differentiation. Consequently, it enables end-to-end supervision covering long-term conservation and short-term physics priors. Building on the representation, we propose physics-informed trajectory learning and integration into NeRF-based scene reconstruction. We enable advanced obstacle handling through self-supervised scene decomposition and seamless integrated boundary constraints. Our results showcase the ability to overcome challenges like occlusion uncertainty, density-color ambiguity, and static-dynamic entanglements. Data-Efficient On-Policy Distillation for Automatic Speech Recognition

Building competitive automatic speech recognition (ASR) models usually requires large-scale au- dio supervision, which makes reproduction and specialization expensive. We study Ark-ASR, a 0.6B- parameter audio-conditioned language model trained with 100k hours of speech, and examine whether a strong Qwen-ASR teacher can transfer additional recognition capability through on-policy distillation. Across Mandarin and English ASR benchmarks, the proposed training recipe consistently improves over supervised fine-tuning alone and outperforms the same-scale Qwen3-ASR-0.6B baseline on four of five evaluation sets. This is achieved with only 100k hours of speech, compared with the 20M hours of super- vised audio reported for the Qwen3-Omni AuT encoder. The larger Qwen3-ASR-1.7B remains stronger, but the results show that teacher-guided on-policy training can substantially close the gap for compact ASR models under a much smaller audio budget. A support-overlap diagnostic further suggests that the teacher-data stage improves local student-teacher compatibility, matching recent analyses of when on-policy distillation is effective.

ERNIE 5.0 Technical Report

In this report, we introduce ERNIE 5.0, a natively autoregressive foundation model desinged for unified multimodal understanding and generation across text, image, video, and audio. All modalities are trained from scratch under a unified next-group-of-tokens prediction objective, based on an ultra-sparse mixture-of-experts (MoE) architecture with modality-agnostic expert routing. To address practical challenges in large-scale deployment under diverse resource constraints, ERNIE 5.0 adopts a novel elastic training paradigm. Within a single pre-training run, the model learns a family of sub-models with varying depths, expert capacities, and routing sparsity, enabling flexible trade-offs among performance, model size, and inference latency in memory- or time-constrained scenarios. Moreover, we systematically address the challenges of scaling reinforcement learning to unified foundation models, thereby guaranteeing efficient and stable post-training under ultra-sparse MoE architectures and diverse multimodal settings. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ERNIE 5.0 achieves strong and balanced performance across multiple modalities. To the best of our knowledge, among publicly disclosed models, ERNIE 5.0 represents the first production-scale realization of a trillion-parameter unified autoregressive model that supports both multimodal understanding and generation. To facilitate further research, we present detailed visualizations of modality-agnostic expert routing in the unified model, alongside comprehensive empirical analysis of elastic training, aiming to offer profound insights to the community.

Specificity-aware reinforcement learning for fine-grained open-world classification

Classifying fine-grained visual concepts under open-world settings, i.e., without a predefined label set, demands models to be both accurate and specific. Recent reasoning Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) exhibit strong visual understanding capability but tend to produce overly generic predictions when performing fine-grained image classification. Our preliminary analysis reveals that models do possess the intrinsic fine-grained domain knowledge. However, promoting more specific predictions (specificity) without compromising correct ones (correctness) remains a non-trivial and understudied challenge. In this work, we investigate how to steer reasoning LMMs toward predictions that are both correct and specific. We propose a novel specificity-aware reinforcement learning framework, SpeciaRL, to fine-tune reasoning LMMs on fine-grained image classification under the open-world setting. SpeciaRL introduces a dynamic, verifier-based reward signal anchored to the best predictions within online rollouts, promoting specificity while respecting the model's capabilities to prevent incorrect predictions. Our out-of-domain experiments show that SpeciaRL delivers the best trade-off between correctness and specificity across extensive fine-grained benchmarks, surpassing existing methods and advancing open-world fine-grained image classification. Garment Particles: A 2D--3D Symmetric Garment Representation for Generation and Editing

Practical garment design spans two modes: intuitive creation from high-level intent, such as a reference image or text description, and complex low-level editing across 2D sewing patterns and 3D draped geometry, which requires professional training to navigate their complex interdependencies. Yet existing frameworks address only part of this challenge, offering either garment generation from casual inputs or direct editing on sewing patterns. To support both ends of the spectrum, we propose Garment Particles, a 5D point-cloud representation that jointly encodes 2D sewing patterns and 3D geometry. This representation enables Garment Particles Flow (GPF), a rectified flow framework that supports intuitive generation from high-level inputs (text, images, sketches) and various editing operations on 2D sewing patterns and 3D geometries via diffusion posterior sampling. Finally, we introduce Particles-to-Pattern Flow that converts generated garment particles into curved-based patterns for simulation. We validate our model's generation ability on multiple datasets, achieving state-of-the-art garment generation results against competitive baselines. Our model also enables many garment editing scenarios, including garment interpolation, sewing pattern editing, point-cloud- and silhouette-conditioned garment generation. Factorize to Generalize: Retrieval-Guided Invariant-Dynamic Decomposition for Time Series Forecasting

Time series foundation models (TSFMs) have recently achieved strong zero-shot forecasting performance through large-scale pretraining and retrieval-augmented prediction. However, our empirical analysis reveals a non-trivial limitation of retrieval-based forecasting: retrieval tends to induce more oscillatory predictions, improving performance on highly fluctuating series while degrading accuracy on smoother, trend-dominated ones. This suggests that retrieved information may be fused into prediction without explicitly distinguishing stable temporal structure from instance-specific variations, which can reduce robustness under distribution shifts. We propose a Retrieval-guided Invariant-Dynamic DEcomposition framework for time series forecasting. Rather than using retrieval as auxiliary predictive context, we leverage retrieved sequences as implicit samples from related environments to guide representation decomposition. Specifically, we first construct a retrieval-aware representation via attention-based aggregation, and then introduce a retrieval-guided routing mechanism to decompose it into an invariant component capturing stable shared structure and a dynamic component modeling context-dependent variations. These two components are forecast separately and fused for final prediction, enabling the model to preserve transferable patterns while remaining adaptive to evolving dynamics. We further design training objectives that encourage invariant learning and disentanglement, and provide theoretical insight showing that retrieval aggregation reduces variance and approximates invariant representation learning without explicit environment supervision. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method consistently improves robustness under distribution shifts and outperforms existing TSFMs and retrieval-based baselines in zero-shot forecasting settings.

ACTIVE:Augmentation-Free Graph Contrastive Learning for Partial Multi-View Clustering

In this paper, we propose an augmentation-free graph contrastive learning framework, namely ACTIVE, to solve the problem of partial multi-view clustering. Notably, we suppose that the representations of similar samples (i.e., belonging to the same cluster) and their multiply views features should be similar. This is distinct from the general unsupervised contrastive learning that assumes an image and its augmentations share a similar representation. Specifically, relation graphs are constructed using the nearest neighbours to identify existing similar samples, then the constructed inter-instance relation graphs are transferred to the missing views to build graphs on the corresponding missing data. Subsequently, two main components, within-view graph contrastive learning (WGC) and cross-view graph consistency learning (CGC), are devised to maximize the mutual information of different views within a cluster. The proposed approach elevates instance-level contrastive learning and missing data inference to the cluster-level, effectively mitigating the impact of individual missing data on clustering. Experiments on several challenging datasets demonstrate the superiority of our proposed methods.

SkyReels-V4: Multi-modal Video-Audio Generation, Inpainting and Editing model

SkyReels V4 is a unified multi modal video foundation model for joint video audio generation, inpainting, and editing. The model adopts a dual stream Multimodal Diffusion Transformer (MMDiT) architecture, where one branch synthesizes video and the other generates temporally aligned audio, while sharing a powerful text encoder based on the Multimodal Large Language Models (MMLM). SkyReels V4 accepts rich multi modal instructions, including text, images, video clips, masks, and audio references. By combining the MMLMs multi modal instruction following capability with in context learning in the video branch MMDiT, the model can inject fine grained visual guidance under complex conditioning, while the audio branch MMDiT simultaneously leverages audio references to guide sound generation. On the video side, we adopt a channel concatenation formulation that unifies a wide range of inpainting style tasks, such as image to video, video extension, and video editing under a single interface, and naturally extends to vision referenced inpainting and editing via multi modal prompts. SkyReels V4 supports up to 1080p resolution, 32 FPS, and 15 second duration, enabling high fidelity, multi shot, cinema level video generation with synchronized audio. To make such high resolution, long-duration generation computationally feasible, we introduce an efficiency strategy: Joint generation of low resolution full sequences and high-resolution keyframes, followed by dedicated super-resolution and frame interpolation models. To our knowledge, SkyReels V4 is the first video foundation model that simultaneously supports multi-modal input, joint video audio generation, and a unified treatment of generation, inpainting, and editing, while maintaining strong efficiency and quality at cinematic resolutions and durations.

Oracle-guided Contrastive Clustering

Deep clustering aims to learn a clustering representation through deep architectures. Most of the existing methods usually conduct clustering with the unique goal of maximizing clustering performance, that ignores the personalized demand of clustering tasks.% and results in unguided clustering solutions. However, in real scenarios, oracles may tend to cluster unlabeled data by exploiting distinct criteria, such as distinct semantics (background, color, object, etc.), and then put forward personalized clustering tasks. To achieve task-aware clustering results, in this study, Oracle-guided Contrastive Clustering(OCC) is then proposed to cluster by interactively making pairwise ``same-cluster" queries to oracles with distinctive demands. Specifically, inspired by active learning, some informative instance pairs are queried, and evaluated by oracles whether the pairs are in the same cluster according to their desired orientation. And then these queried same-cluster pairs extend the set of positive instance pairs for contrastive learning, guiding OCC to extract orientation-aware feature representation. Accordingly, the query results, guided by oracles with distinctive demands, may drive the OCC's clustering results in a desired orientation. Theoretically, the clustering risk in an active learning manner is given with a tighter upper bound, that guarantees active queries to oracles do mitigate the clustering risk. Experimentally, extensive results verify that OCC can cluster accurately along the specific orientation and it substantially outperforms the SOTA clustering methods as well. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first deep framework to perform personalized clustering.

Cross-view Graph Contrastive Representation Learning on Partially Aligned Multi-view Data

Multi-view representation learning has developed rapidly over the past decades and has been applied in many fields. However, most previous works assumed that each view is complete and aligned. This leads to an inevitable deterioration in their performance when encountering practical problems such as missing or unaligned views. To address the challenge of representation learning on partially aligned multi-view data, we propose a new cross-view graph contrastive learning framework, which integrates multi-view information to align data and learn latent representations. Compared with current approaches, the proposed method has the following merits: (1) our model is an end-to-end framework that simultaneously performs view-specific representation learning via view-specific autoencoders and cluster-level data aligning by combining multi-view information with the cross-view graph contrastive learning; (2) it is easy to apply our model to explore information from three or more modalities/sources as the cross-view graph contrastive learning is devised. Extensive experiments conducted on several real datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on the clustering and classification tasks.

PALM-Bench: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Personalized Audio-Language Models

Large Audio-Language Models (LALMs) have demonstrated strong performance in audio understanding and generation. Yet, our extensive benchmarking reveals that their behavior is largely generic (e.g., summarizing spoken content) and fails to adequately support personalized question answering (e.g., summarizing what my best friend says). In contrast, human conditions their interpretation and decision-making on each individual's personal context. To bridge this gap, we formalize the task of Personalized LALMs (PALM) for recognizing personal concepts and reasoning within personal context. Moreover, we create the first benchmark (PALM-Bench) to foster the methodological advances in PALM and enable structured evaluation on several tasks across multi-speaker scenarios. Our extensive experiments on representative open-source LALMs, show that existing training-free prompting and supervised fine-tuning strategies, while yield improvements, remains limited in modeling personalized knowledge and transferring them across tasks robustly. StructXLIP: Enhancing Vision-language Models with Multimodal Structural Cues

Edge-based representations are fundamental cues for visual understanding, a principle rooted in early vision research and still central today. We extend this principle to vision-language alignment, showing that isolating and aligning structural cues across modalities can greatly benefit fine-tuning on long, detail-rich captions, with a specific focus on improving cross-modal retrieval. We introduce StructXLIP, a fine-tuning alignment paradigm that extracts edge maps (e.g., Canny), treating them as proxies for the visual structure of an image, and filters the corresponding captions to emphasize structural cues, making them "structure-centric". Fine-tuning augments the standard alignment loss with three structure-centric losses: (i) aligning edge maps with structural text, (ii) matching local edge regions to textual chunks, and (iii) connecting edge maps to color images to prevent representation drift. From a theoretical standpoint, while standard CLIP maximizes the mutual information between visual and textual embeddings, StructXLIP additionally maximizes the mutual information between multimodal structural representations. This auxiliary optimization is intrinsically harder, guiding the model toward more robust and semantically stable minima, enhancing vision-language alignment. Beyond outperforming current competitors on cross-modal retrieval in both general and specialized domains, our method serves as a general boosting recipe that can be integrated into future approaches in a plug-and-play manner. Survey on video anomaly detection in dynamic scenes with moving cameras

The increasing popularity of compact and inexpensive cameras, e.g.~dash cameras, body cameras, and cameras equipped on robots, has sparked a growing interest in detecting anomalies within dynamic scenes recorded by moving cameras. However, existing reviews primarily concentrate on Video Anomaly Detection (VAD) methods assuming static cameras. The VAD literature with moving cameras remains fragmented, lacking comprehensive reviews to date. To address this gap, we endeavor to present the first comprehensive survey on Moving Camera Video Anomaly Detection (MC-VAD). We delve into the research papers related to MC-VAD, critically assessing their limitations and highlighting associated challenges. Our exploration encompasses three application domains: security, urban transportation, and marine environments, which in turn cover six specific tasks. We compile an extensive list of 25 publicly-available datasets spanning four distinct environments: underwater, water surface, ground, and aerial. We summarize the types of anomalies these datasets correspond to or contain, and present five main categories of approaches for detecting such anomalies. Lastly, we identify future research directions and discuss novel contributions that could advance the field of MC-VAD. With this survey, we aim to offer a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners striving to develop and advance state-of-the-art MC-VAD methods.

Zero-Shot Temporal Action Localization Through Textual Guidance

Zero-shot temporal action localization (ZS-TAL) consists of classifying and localizing actions in untrimmed videos, where action classes are unseen at training time. Existing work uses Vision and Language Models (VLMs), taking advantage of their strong zero-shot transfer capabilities. Yet, these models face evident challenges with fine-grained action classification, making it difficult to directly use them to distinguish between the presence and absence of an action. Most current methods for ZS-TAL address these challenges by training models on large-scale video datasets, which require annotated data and often result in limited generalization performance. Recently, approaches discarding the use of labeled data have emerged as an alternative. Following this direction, we propose a novel approach, ``Textual Guidance for finer localization of actions in videos'' (TEGU), that compensates for the lack of supervision from training data by exploiting rich textual information derived from large language models and structured text extracted from captions. This additional linguistic context can improve fine-grained discrimination by providing richer cues about fine-grained action differences within videos. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by conducting experiments on the THUMOS14 and the ActivityNet-v1.3 datasets. C$^2$T: Captioning-Structure and LLM-Aligned Common-Sense Reward Learning for Traffic--Vehicle Coordination

State-of-the-art (SOTA) urban traffic control increasingly employs Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) to coordinate Traffic Light Controllers (TLCs) and Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs). However, the performance of these systems is fundamentally capped by their hand-crafted, myopic rewards (e.g., intersection pressure), which fail to capture high-level, human-centric goals like safety, flow stability, and comfort. To overcome this limitation, we introduce C2T, a novel framework that learns a common-sense coordination model from traffic-vehicle dynamics. C2T distills "common-sense" knowledge from a Large Language Model (LLM) into a learned intrinsic reward function. This new reward is then used to guide the coordination policy of a cooperative multi-intersection TLC MARL system on CityFlow-based multi-intersection benchmarks. Our framework significantly outperforms strong MARL baselines in traffic efficiency, safety, and an energy-related proxy. We further highlight C2T's flexibility in principle, allowing distinct "efficiency-focused" versus "safety-focused" policies by modifying the LLM prompt.

MultiLoRA: Democratizing LoRA for Better Multi-Task Learning

LoRA achieves remarkable resource efficiency and comparable performance when adapting LLMs for specific tasks. Since ChatGPT demonstrated superior performance on various tasks, there has been a growing desire to adapt one model for all tasks. However, the explicit low-rank of LoRA limits the adaptation performance in complex multi-task scenarios. LoRA is dominated by a small number of top singular vectors while fine-tuning decomposes into a set of less important unitary transforms. In this paper, we propose MultiLoRA for better multi-task adaptation by reducing the dominance of top singular vectors observed in LoRA. MultiLoRA scales LoRA modules horizontally and change parameter initialization of adaptation matrices to reduce parameter dependency, thus yields more balanced unitary subspaces. We unprecedentedly construct specialized training data by mixing datasets of instruction follow, natural language understanding, world knowledge, to cover semantically and syntactically different samples. With only 2.5% of additional parameters, MultiLoRA outperforms single LoRA counterparts and fine-tuning on multiple benchmarks and model scales. Further investigation into weight update matrices of MultiLoRA exhibits reduced dependency on top singular vectors and more democratic unitary transform contributions.

Augmented Model Predictive Control: A Balance between Satellite Agility and Computation Complexity

Agile earth observation satellites employ multiple actuators to enable flexible and responsive imaging capabilities. While significant advancements in actuator technology have enhanced satellites' torque and momentum, relatively little attention has been given to control strategies specifically tailored to improve satellite agility. This paper provides a comparative analysis of different Model Predictive Control (MPC) formulations and introduces an augmented-MPC method that effectively balances agility requirements with hardware implementation constraints. The proposed method achieves the high-performance characteristics of nonlinear MPC while preserving the computational simplicity of linear MPC. Numerical simulations and physical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach.

Behavior Recognition Based on the Integration of Multigranular Motion Features

The recognition of behaviors in videos usually requires a combinatorial analysis of the spatial information about objects and their dynamic action information in the temporal dimension. Specifically, behavior recognition may even rely more on the modeling of temporal information containing short-range and long-range motions; this contrasts with computer vision tasks involving images that focus on the understanding of spatial information. However, current solutions fail to jointly and comprehensively analyze short-range motion between adjacent frames and long-range temporal aggregations at large scales in videos. In this paper, we propose a novel behavior recognition method based on the integration of multigranular (IMG) motion features. In particular, we achieve reliable motion information modeling through the synergy of a channel attention-based short-term motion feature enhancement module (CMEM) and a cascaded long-term motion feature integration module (CLIM). We evaluate our model on several action recognition benchmarks such as HMDB51, Something-Something and UCF101. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the previous state-of-the-art methods, which confirms its effectiveness and efficiency.

PrivateLoRA For Efficient Privacy Preserving LLM

End users face a choice between privacy and efficiency in current Large Language Model (LLM) service paradigms. In cloud-based paradigms, users are forced to compromise data locality for generation quality and processing speed. Conversely, edge device paradigms maintain data locality but fail to deliver satisfactory performance. In this work, we propose a novel LLM service paradigm that distributes privacy-sensitive computation on edge devices and shared computation in the cloud. Only activations are transmitted between the central cloud and edge devices to ensure data locality. Our core innovation, PrivateLoRA, addresses the challenging communication overhead by exploiting the low rank of residual activations, achieving over 95% communication reduction. Consequently, PrivateLoRA effectively maintains data locality and is extremely resource efficient. Under standard 5G networks, PrivateLoRA achieves throughput over 300% of device-only solutions for 7B models and over 80% of an A100 GPU for 33B models. PrivateLoRA also provides tuning performance comparable to LoRA for advanced personalization. Our approach democratizes access to state-of-the-art generative AI for edge devices, paving the way for more tailored LLM experiences for the general public. To our knowledge, our proposed framework is the first efficient and privacy-preserving LLM solution in the literature.

Tiny-Engram: Trigger-Indexed Concept Tables for Generative Vision

Current personalization methods for generative vision models typically encode new concepts through continuous adapters or weight updates, yet provide limited control over whether and when a concept should be retrieved. In this work, we introduce Tiny-Engram, a compact trigger-indexed concept table that gives visual memories an explicit lexical address and activation boundary inside frozen image and video generators. Tiny-Engram parameterizes each concept as a small set of memory entries indexed by registered n-gram matches, which modulate text-encoder hidden states only within the matched trigger region. Outside this lexical support, the conditioning pathway is identical to that of the frozen base model. Across both single-encoder latent diffusion and multi-encoder diffusion-transformer backbones, this formulation binds a rare trigger phrase to a target identity while preserving compositional control from the surrounding prompt. We further evaluate the same table-based memory in a text-conditioned video generation setting, where the trigger path reliably alters the generated subject but fine-grained identity persistence across held-out video prompts remains limited. Taken together, these results suggest that small, explicitly addressed concept tables are a practical route to modular visual personalization, with strongest evidence in image generation. For video diffusion, the remaining gap points to a broader requirement: temporally stable identity likely depends on tighter coupling between text-side memory and the evolving visual state, motivating future work on memory injection beyond the text-conditioning interface.

Speech LLMs are Contextual Reasoning Transcribers

Despite extensions to speech inputs, effectively leveraging the rich knowledge and contextual understanding of large language models (LLMs) in automatic speech recognition (ASR) remains non-trivial, as the task primarily involves direct speech-to-text mapping. To address this, this paper proposes chain-of-thought ASR (CoT-ASR), which constructs a reasoning chain that enables LLMs to first analyze the input speech and generate contextual analysis, thereby fully exploiting their generative capabilities. With this contextual reasoning, CoT-ASR then performs more informed speech recognition and completes both reasoning and transcription in a single pass. Moreover, CoT-ASR naturally supports user-guided transcription: while designed to self-generate reasoning, it can also seamlessly incorporate user-provided context to guide transcription, further extending ASR functionality. To reduce the modality gap, this paper introduces a CTC-guided Modality Adapter, which uses CTC non-blank token probabilities to weight LLM embeddings, efficiently aligning speech encoder outputs with the LLM's textual latent space. Experiments show that, compared to standard LLM-based ASR, CoT-ASR achieves a relative reduction of 8.7% in word error rate (WER) and 16.9% in entity error rate (EER).

Diversified in-domain synthesis with efficient fine-tuning for few-shot classification

Few-shot image classification aims to learn an image classifier using only a small set of labeled examples per class. A recent research direction for improving few-shot classifiers involves augmenting the labelled samples with synthetic images created by state-of-the-art text-to-image generation models. Following this trend, we propose Diversified In-domain Synthesis with Efficient Fine-tuning (DISEF), a novel approach which addresses the generalization challenge in few-shot learning using synthetic data. DISEF consists of two main components. First, we propose a novel text-to-image augmentation pipeline that, by leveraging the real samples and their rich semantics coming from an advanced captioning model, promotes in-domain sample diversity for better generalization. Second, we emphasize the importance of effective model fine-tuning in few-shot recognition, proposing to use Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) for joint adaptation of the text and image encoders in a Vision Language Model. We validate our method in ten different benchmarks, consistently outperforming baselines and establishing a new state-of-the-art for few-shot classification. Gemini 2.5: Pushing the Frontier with Advanced Reasoning, Multimodality, Long Context, and Next Generation Agentic Capabilities

In this report, we introduce the Gemini 2.X model family: Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash, as well as our earlier Gemini 2.0 Flash and Flash-Lite models. Gemini 2.5 Pro is our most capable model yet, achieving SoTA performance on frontier coding and reasoning benchmarks. In addition to its incredible coding and reasoning skills, Gemini 2.5 Pro is a thinking model that excels at multimodal understanding and it is now able to process up to 3 hours of video content. Its unique combination of long context, multimodal and reasoning capabilities can be combined to unlock new agentic workflows. Gemini 2.5 Flash provides excellent reasoning abilities at a fraction of the compute and latency requirements and Gemini 2.0 Flash and Flash-Lite provide high performance at low latency and cost. Taken together, the Gemini 2.X model generation spans the full Pareto frontier of model capability vs cost, allowing users to explore the boundaries of what is possible with complex agentic problem solving.

Generalizing Dynamics Modeling More Easily from Representation Perspective

Learning system dynamics from observations is a critical problem in many applications over various real-world complex systems, e.g., climate, ecology, and fluid systems. Recently, neural dynamics modeling method have become a prevalent solution that embeds the object's observations into a latent space before learning dynamics using neural methods such as neural Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE). Existing dynamics modeling methods induce a specific model for each observation of different complex systems, resulting in poor generalization across systems. Inspired by the great success of pre-trained models, we conduct a generalized Pre-trained Dynamics EncoDER (PDEDER) which can embed the original state observations into a latent space where the dynamics can be captured more easily. To conduct the generalized PDEDER, we pre-train any Pre-trained Language Model (PLM) by minimizing the Lyapunov exponent objective, which constrains the chaotic behavior of governing dynamics learned in the latent space. By penalizing the divergence of embedded observations, our PDEDER promotes locally stable and well-structured latent dynamics, thereby facilitating more effective dynamics modeling than in the original observation space. In addition, we incorporate reconstruction and forecasting objectives to mitigate the risk of obtaining an over-smoothed latent space. Specifically, we collect 152 sets of real-world and synthetic observations from 23 complex systems as pre-training corpora and employ them to pre-train PDEDER. Given any future dynamic observation, we can fine-tune PDEDER with any specific dynamics modeling method. We evaluate PDEDER on 12 dynamic systems by short/long-term forecasting under both in-domain and cross-domain settings, and the empirical results indicate the effectiveness and generalizability of PDEDER.

Breaking the Overscaling Curse: Thinking Parallelism Before Parallel Thinking

Parallel thinking enhances LLM reasoning by multi-path sampling and aggregation. In system-level evaluations, a global parallelism level N is allocated to all samples, typically set large to maximize overall dataset accuracy. However, due to sample heterogeneity, some samples can achieve comparable performance with a smaller N'< N, causing budget redundancy. This incompatibility between system-level efficacy and sample-level efficiency constitutes the overscaling curse. In this paper, we formalize and quantify the overscaling curse, showing its universality and severity in practice, and analyze its trigger mechanism. We then propose a lightweight method, T2, to break the overscaling curse, which utilizes latent representations to estimate the optimal parallelism level for each sample before decoding. Experiments show that T2 significantly reduces cost while maintaining comparable performance, enabling more efficient parallel thinking.

Vocabulary-Free 3D Instance Segmentation with Vision and Language Assistant

Most recent 3D instance segmentation methods are open vocabulary, offering a greater flexibility than closed-vocabulary methods. Yet, they are limited to reasoning within a specific set of concepts, \ie the vocabulary, prompted by the user at test time. In essence, these models cannot reason in an open-ended fashion, i.e., answering "List the objects in the scene.''. We introduce the first method to address 3D instance segmentation in a setting that is void of any vocabulary prior, namely a vocabulary-free setting. We leverage a large vision-language assistant and an open-vocabulary 2D instance segmenter to discover and ground semantic categories on the posed images. To form 3D instance mask, we first partition the input point cloud into dense superpoints, which are then merged into 3D instance masks. We propose a novel superpoint merging strategy via spectral clustering, accounting for both mask coherence and semantic coherence that are estimated from the 2D object instance masks. We evaluate our method using ScanNet200 and Replica, outperforming existing methods in both vocabulary-free and open-vocabulary settings. Code will be made available.
