Feature Combination Meets Attention: Baidu Soccer Embeddings and Transformer based Temporal Detection

Xin Zhou, Le Kang, Zhiyu Cheng et al.

With rapidly evolving internet technologies and emerging tools, sports related videos generated online are increasing at an unprecedentedly fast pace. To automate sports video editing/highlight generation process, a key task is to precisely recognize and locate the events in the long untrimmed videos. In this tech report, we present a two-stage paradigm to detect what and when events happen in soccer broadcast videos. Specifically, we fine-tune multiple action recognition models on soccer data to extract high-level semantic features, and design a transformer based temporal detection module to locate the target events. This approach achieved the state-of-the-art performance in both two tasks, i.e., action spotting and replay grounding, in the SoccerNet-v2 Challenge, under CVPR 2021 ActivityNet workshop. Our soccer embedding features are released at https://github.com/baidu-research/vidpress-sports. By sharing these features with the broader community, we hope to accelerate the research into soccer video understanding.

TextFlint: Unified Multilingual Robustness Evaluation Toolkit for Natural Language Processing

Tao Gui, Xiao Wang, Qi Zhang et al.

Various robustness evaluation methodologies from different perspectives have been proposed for different natural language processing (NLP) tasks. These methods have often focused on either universal or task-specific generalization capabilities. In this work, we propose a multilingual robustness evaluation platform for NLP tasks (TextFlint) that incorporates universal text transformation, task-specific transformation, adversarial attack, subpopulation, and their combinations to provide comprehensive robustness analysis. TextFlint enables practitioners to automatically evaluate their models from all aspects or to customize their evaluations as desired with just a few lines of code. To guarantee user acceptability, all the text transformations are linguistically based, and we provide a human evaluation for each one. TextFlint generates complete analytical reports as well as targeted augmented data to address the shortcomings of the model's robustness. To validate TextFlint's utility, we performed large-scale empirical evaluations (over 67,000 evaluations) on state-of-the-art deep learning models, classic supervised methods, and real-world systems. Almost all models showed significant performance degradation, including a decline of more than 50% of BERT's prediction accuracy on tasks such as aspect-level sentiment classification, named entity recognition, and natural language inference. Therefore, we call for the robustness to be included in the model evaluation, so as to promote the healthy development of NLP technology.

Cross Copy Network for Dialogue Generation

Changzhen Ji, Xin Zhou, Yating Zhang et al.

In the past few years, audiences from different fields witness the achievements of sequence-to-sequence models (e.g., LSTM+attention, Pointer Generator Networks, and Transformer) to enhance dialogue content generation. While content fluency and accuracy often serve as the major indicators for model training, dialogue logics, carrying critical information for some particular domains, are often ignored. Take customer service and court debate dialogue as examples, compatible logics can be observed across different dialogue instances, and this information can provide vital evidence for utterance generation. In this paper, we propose a novel network architecture - Cross Copy Networks(CCN) to explore the current dialog context and similar dialogue instances' logical structure simultaneously. Experiments with two tasks, court debate and customer service content generation, proved that the proposed algorithm is superior to existing state-of-art content generation models.
