Mamba Based Feature Extraction And Adaptive Multilevel Feature Fusion For 3D Tumor Segmentation From Multi-modal Medical ImageZexin Ji, Beiji Zou, Xiaoyan Kui et al.
Multi-modal 3D medical image segmentation aims to accurately identify tumor regions across different modalities, facing challenges from variations in image intensity and tumor morphology. Traditional convolutional neural network (CNN)-based methods struggle with capturing global features, while Transformers-based methods, despite effectively capturing global context, encounter high computational costs in 3D medical image segmentation. The Mamba model combines linear scalability with long-distance modeling, making it a promising approach for visual representation learning. However, Mamba-based 3D multi-modal segmentation still struggles to leverage modality-specific features and fuse complementary information effectively. In this paper, we propose a Mamba based feature extraction and adaptive multilevel feature fusion for 3D tumor segmentation using multi-modal medical image. We first develop the specific modality Mamba encoder to efficiently extract long-range relevant features that represent anatomical and pathological structures present in each modality. Moreover, we design an bi-level synergistic integration block that dynamically merges multi-modal and multi-level complementary features by the modality attention and channel attention learning. Lastly, the decoder combines deep semantic information with fine-grained details to generate the tumor segmentation map. Experimental results on medical image datasets (PET/CT and MRI multi-sequence) show that our approach achieve competitive performance compared to the state-of-the-art CNN, Transformer, and Mamba-based approaches.

Differential and integral invariants under Mobius transformationHe Zhang, Hanlin Mo, You Hao et al.
One of the most challenging problems in the domain of 2-D image or 3-D shape is to handle the non-rigid deformation. From the perspective of transformation groups, the conformal transformation is a key part of the diffeomorphism. According to the Liouville Theorem, an important part of the conformal transformation is the Mobius transformation, so we focus on Mobius transformation and propose two differential expressions that are invariable under 2-D and 3-D Mobius transformation respectively. Next, we analyze the absoluteness and relativity of invariance on them and their components. After that, we propose integral invariants under Mobius transformation based on the two differential expressions. Finally, we propose a conjecture about the structure of differential invariants under conformal transformation according to our observation on the composition of the above two differential invariants.

Indoor occupancy estimation from carbon dioxide concentrationChaoyang Jiang, Mustafa K. Masood, Yeng Chai Soh et al.
This paper presents an indoor occupancy estimator with which we can estimate the number of real-time indoor occupants based on the carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement. The estimator is actually a dynamic model of the occupancy level. To identify the dynamic model, we propose the Feature Scaled Extreme Learning Machine (FS-ELM) algorithm, which is a variation of the standard Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) but is shown to perform better for the occupancy estimation problem. The measured CO2 concentration suffers from serious spikes. We find that pre-smoothing the CO2 data can greatly improve the estimation accuracy. In real applications, however, we cannot obtain the real-time globally smoothed CO2 data. We provide a way to use the locally smoothed CO2 data instead, which is real-time available. We introduce a new criterion, i.e. $x$-tolerance accuracy, to assess the occupancy estimator. The proposed occupancy estimator was tested in an office room with 24 cubicles and 11 open seats. The accuracy is up to 94 percent with a tolerance of four occupants.
