RealCustom++: Representing Images as Real Textual Word for Real-Time CustomizationZhendong Mao, Mengqi Huang, Fei Ding et al.
Given a text and an image of a specific subject, text-to-image customization aims to generate new images that align with both the text and the subject's appearance. Existing works follow the pseudo-word paradigm, which represents the subject as a non-existent pseudo word and combines it with other text to generate images. However, the pseudo word causes semantic conflict from its different learning objective and entanglement from overlapping influence scopes with other texts, resulting in a dual-optimum paradox where subject similarity and text controllability cannot be optimal simultaneously. To address this, we propose RealCustom++, a novel real-word paradigm that represents the subject with a non-conflicting real word to firstly generate a coherent guidance image and corresponding subject mask, thereby disentangling the influence scopes of the text and subject for simultaneous optimization. Specifically, RealCustom++ introduces a train-inference decoupled framework: (1) during training, it learns a general alignment between visual conditions and all real words in the text; and (2) during inference, a dual-branch architecture is employed, where the Guidance Branch produces the subject guidance mask and the Generation Branch utilizes this mask to customize the generation of the specific real word exclusively within subject-relevant regions. In contrast to previous methods that excel in either controllability or similarity, RealCustom++ achieves superior performance in both, with improvements of 7.48% in controllability, 3.04% in similarity, and 76.43% in generation quality. For multi-subject customization, RealCustom++ further achieves improvements of 4.6% in controllability and 6.34% in multi-subject similarity. HeurAgenix: Leveraging LLMs for Solving Complex Combinatorial Optimization ChallengesXianliang Yang, Ling Zhang, Haolong Qian et al.
Heuristic algorithms play a vital role in solving combinatorial optimization (CO) problems, yet traditional designs depend heavily on manual expertise and struggle to generalize across diverse instances. We introduce \textbf{HeurAgenix}, a two-stage hyper-heuristic framework powered by large language models (LLMs) that first evolves heuristics and then selects among them automatically. In the heuristic evolution phase, HeurAgenix leverages an LLM to compare seed heuristic solutions with higher-quality solutions and extract reusable evolution strategies. During problem solving, it dynamically picks the most promising heuristic for each problem state, guided by the LLM's perception ability. For flexibility, this selector can be either a state-of-the-art LLM or a fine-tuned lightweight model with lower inference cost. To mitigate the scarcity of reliable supervision caused by CO complexity, we fine-tune the lightweight heuristic selector with a dual-reward mechanism that jointly exploits singals from selection preferences and state perception, enabling robust selection under noisy annotations. Extensive experiments on canonical benchmarks show that HeurAgenix not only outperforms existing LLM-based hyper-heuristics but also matches or exceeds specialized solvers. Code is available at https://github.com/microsoft/HeurAgenix.
ComRoPE: Scalable and Robust Rotary Position Embedding Parameterized by Trainable Commuting Angle MatricesHao Yu, Tangyu Jiang, Shuning Jia et al.
The Transformer architecture has revolutionized various regions since it was proposed, and its effectiveness largely depends on the ability to encode positional information. Traditional position encoding methods exhibit significant limitations due to lack of robustness and flexibility of position. Therefore, Rotary Positional Encoding (RoPE) was proposed to alleviate these issues, which integrates positional information by rotating the embeddings in the attention mechanism. However, RoPE requires manually defined rotation matrices with limited transformation space, constraining the model's capacity. In this work, we propose ComRoPE, which generalizes RoPE by defining it in terms of trainable commuting angle matrices. Specifically, we demonstrate that pairwise commutativity of these matrices is essential for RoPE to achieve scalability and positional robustness. We formally define the RoPE Equation, which is an essential condition that ensures consistent performance with position offsets. Based on the theoretical analysis, we present two types of trainable commuting angle matrices as sufficient solutions to the RoPE equation, which significantly improve performance, surpassing the current state-of-the-art method by 1.6% at training resolution and 2.9% at higher resolution on the ImageNet-1K dataset. Furthermore, our framework shows versatility in generalizing to existing RoPE formulations and offering new insights for future positional encoding research. To ensure reproducibility, the source code and instructions are available at https://github.com/Longin-Yu/ComRoPE

I2VControl: Disentangled and Unified Video Motion Synthesis ControlWanquan Feng, Tianhao Qi, Jiawei Liu et al.
Motion controllability is crucial in video synthesis. However, most previous methods are limited to single control types, and combining them often results in logical conflicts. In this paper, we propose a disentangled and unified framework, namely I2VControl, to overcome the logical conflicts. We rethink camera control, object dragging, and motion brush, reformulating all tasks into a consistent representation based on point trajectories, each managed by a dedicated formulation. Accordingly, we propose a spatial partitioning strategy, where each unit is assigned to a concomitant control category, enabling diverse control types to be dynamically orchestrated within a single synthesis pipeline without conflicts. Furthermore, we design an adapter structure that functions as a plug-in for pre-trained models and is agnostic to specific model architectures. We conduct extensive experiments, achieving excellent performance on various control tasks, and our method further facilitates user-driven creative combinations, enhancing innovation and creativity. Edge AI without Compromise: Efficient, Versatile and Accurate Neurocomputing in Resistive Random-Access MemoryWeier Wan, Rajkumar Kubendran, Clemens Schaefer et al.
Realizing today's cloud-level artificial intelligence functionalities directly on devices distributed at the edge of the internet calls for edge hardware capable of processing multiple modalities of sensory data (e.g. video, audio) at unprecedented energy-efficiency. AI hardware architectures today cannot meet the demand due to a fundamental "memory wall": data movement between separate compute and memory units consumes large energy and incurs long latency. Resistive random-access memory (RRAM) based compute-in-memory (CIM) architectures promise to bring orders of magnitude energy-efficiency improvement by performing computation directly within memory. However, conventional approaches to CIM hardware design limit its functional flexibility necessary for processing diverse AI workloads, and must overcome hardware imperfections that degrade inference accuracy. Such trade-offs between efficiency, versatility and accuracy cannot be addressed by isolated improvements on any single level of the design. By co-optimizing across all hierarchies of the design from algorithms and architecture to circuits and devices, we present NeuRRAM - the first multimodal edge AI chip using RRAM CIM to simultaneously deliver a high degree of versatility for diverse model architectures, record energy-efficiency $5\times$ - $8\times$ better than prior art across various computational bit-precisions, and inference accuracy comparable to software models with 4-bit weights on all measured standard AI benchmarks including accuracy of 99.0% on MNIST and 85.7% on CIFAR-10 image classification, 84.7% accuracy on Google speech command recognition, and a 70% reduction in image reconstruction error on a Bayesian image recovery task. This work paves a way towards building highly efficient and reconfigurable edge AI hardware platforms for the more demanding and heterogeneous AI applications of the future.
