On the use of deep learning for phase recoveryKaiqiang Wang, Li Song, Chutian Wang et al.
Phase recovery (PR) refers to calculating the phase of the light field from its intensity measurements. As exemplified from quantitative phase imaging and coherent diffraction imaging to adaptive optics, PR is essential for reconstructing the refractive index distribution or topography of an object and correcting the aberration of an imaging system. In recent years, deep learning (DL), often implemented through deep neural networks, has provided unprecedented support for computational imaging, leading to more efficient solutions for various PR problems. In this review, we first briefly introduce conventional methods for PR. Then, we review how DL provides support for PR from the following three stages, namely, pre-processing, in-processing, and post-processing. We also review how DL is used in phase image processing. Finally, we summarize the work in DL for PR and outlook on how to better use DL to improve the reliability and efficiency in PR. Furthermore, we present a live-updating resource (https://github.com/kqwang/phase-recovery) for readers to learn more about PR.

Serial Low-rank Adaptation of Vision TransformerHouqiang Zhong, Shaocheng Shen, Ke Cai et al.
Fine-tuning large pre-trained vision foundation models in a parameter-efficient manner is critical for downstream vision tasks, considering the practical constraints of computational and storage costs. Low-rank adaptation (LoRA) is a well-established technique in this domain, achieving impressive efficiency by reducing the parameter space to a low-rank form. However, developing more advanced low-rank adaptation methods to reduce parameters and memory requirements remains a significant challenge in resource-constrained application scenarios. In this study, we consider on top of the commonly used vision transformer and propose Serial LoRA, a novel LoRA variant that introduces a shared low-rank matrix serially composite with the attention mechanism. Such a design extracts the underlying commonality of parameters in adaptation, significantly reducing redundancy. Notably, Serial LoRA uses only 1/4 parameters of LoRA but achieves comparable performance in most cases. We conduct extensive experiments on a range of vision foundation models with the transformer structure, and the results confirm consistent superiority of our method.

PTSEFormer: Progressive Temporal-Spatial Enhanced TransFormer Towards Video Object DetectionHan Wang, Jun Tang, Xiaodong Liu et al.
Recent years have witnessed a trend of applying context frames to boost the performance of object detection as video object detection. Existing methods usually aggregate features at one stroke to enhance the feature. These methods, however, usually lack spatial information from neighboring frames and suffer from insufficient feature aggregation. To address the issues, we perform a progressive way to introduce both temporal information and spatial information for an integrated enhancement. The temporal information is introduced by the temporal feature aggregation model (TFAM), by conducting an attention mechanism between the context frames and the target frame (i.e., the frame to be detected). Meanwhile, we employ a Spatial Transition Awareness Model (STAM) to convey the location transition information between each context frame and target frame. Built upon a transformer-based detector DETR, our PTSEFormer also follows an end-to-end fashion to avoid heavy post-processing procedures while achieving 88.1% mAP on the ImageNet VID dataset. Freestyle Layout-to-Image SynthesisHan Xue, Zhiwu Huang, Qianru Sun et al.
Typical layout-to-image synthesis (LIS) models generate images for a closed set of semantic classes, e.g., 182 common objects in COCO-Stuff. In this work, we explore the freestyle capability of the model, i.e., how far can it generate unseen semantics (e.g., classes, attributes, and styles) onto a given layout, and call the task Freestyle LIS (FLIS). Thanks to the development of large-scale pre-trained language-image models, a number of discriminative models (e.g., image classification and object detection) trained on limited base classes are empowered with the ability of unseen class prediction. Inspired by this, we opt to leverage large-scale pre-trained text-to-image diffusion models to achieve the generation of unseen semantics. The key challenge of FLIS is how to enable the diffusion model to synthesize images from a specific layout which very likely violates its pre-learned knowledge, e.g., the model never sees "a unicorn sitting on a bench" during its pre-training. To this end, we introduce a new module called Rectified Cross-Attention (RCA) that can be conveniently plugged in the diffusion model to integrate semantic masks. This "plug-in" is applied in each cross-attention layer of the model to rectify the attention maps between image and text tokens. The key idea of RCA is to enforce each text token to act on the pixels in a specified region, allowing us to freely put a wide variety of semantics from pre-trained knowledge (which is general) onto the given layout (which is specific). Extensive experiments show that the proposed diffusion network produces realistic and freestyle layout-to-image generation results with diverse text inputs, which has a high potential to spawn a bunch of interesting applications. Memories are One-to-Many Mapping Alleviators in Talking Face GenerationAnni Tang, Tianyu He, Xu Tan et al. · microsoft-research
Talking face generation aims at generating photo-realistic video portraits of a target person driven by input audio. Due to its nature of one-to-many mapping from the input audio to the output video (e.g., one speech content may have multiple feasible visual appearances), learning a deterministic mapping like previous works brings ambiguity during training, and thus causes inferior visual results. Although this one-to-many mapping could be alleviated in part by a two-stage framework (i.e., an audio-to-expression model followed by a neural-rendering model), it is still insufficient since the prediction is produced without enough information (e.g., emotions, wrinkles, etc.). In this paper, we propose MemFace to complement the missing information with an implicit memory and an explicit memory that follow the sense of the two stages respectively. More specifically, the implicit memory is employed in the audio-to-expression model to capture high-level semantics in the audio-expression shared space, while the explicit memory is employed in the neural-rendering model to help synthesize pixel-level details. Our experimental results show that our proposed MemFace surpasses all the state-of-the-art results across multiple scenarios consistently and significantly.

LLMCodec: Adapting Video Codecs for Efficient Weight Compression of Large Language ModelsRui Wang, Yan Zhao, Li Song et al.
The rapid development of large language models(LLMs) has led to remarkable advances in natural language processing. However, the increasing scale of these models introduces substantial challenges in terms of storage, transmission, and deployment. Though great efforts have been devoted to model compression and quantization, existing methods often rely on fine-tuning or calibration data, which exhibit limited generalization across different tensor types. In this paper, we argue that video codecs offer a promising solution for LLM compression, due to their inherent compatibility with matrix structured data, configurable compression strategies, and the availability of highly optimized, off-the-shelf implementations. Therefore, we present LLMCodec, a video codec-based LLM compression method that integrates affine quantization with the recent VVC/H.266 video codec. Beyond VVC, we further compare a range of video codecs and encoding profiles to evaluate their impact on compression performance. Experiments on different models demonstrate the robustness and generality of LLMCodec. Notably, on LLaMA-3-8B at 2-bit precision, LLMCodec reduces perplexity by over 1.5x and improves downstream task accuracy by 21% compared with the existing method.

Boosting Video Object Segmentation via Space-time Correspondence LearningYurong Zhang, Liulei Li, Wenguan Wang et al.
Current top-leading solutions for video object segmentation (VOS) typically follow a matching-based regime: for each query frame, the segmentation mask is inferred according to its correspondence to previously processed and the first annotated frames. They simply exploit the supervisory signals from the groundtruth masks for learning mask prediction only, without posing any constraint on the space-time correspondence matching, which, however, is the fundamental building block of such regime. To alleviate this crucial yet commonly ignored issue, we devise a correspondence-aware training framework, which boosts matching-based VOS solutions by explicitly encouraging robust correspondence matching during network learning. Through comprehensively exploring the intrinsic coherence in videos on pixel and object levels, our algorithm reinforces the standard, fully supervised training of mask segmentation with label-free, contrastive correspondence learning. Without neither requiring extra annotation cost during training, nor causing speed delay during deployment, nor incurring architectural modification, our algorithm provides solid performance gains on four widely used benchmarks, i.e., DAVIS2016&2017, and YouTube-VOS2018&2019, on the top of famous matching-based VOS solutions.

OmniRe: Omni Urban Scene ReconstructionZiyu Chen, Jiawei Yang, Jiahui Huang et al.
We introduce OmniRe, a comprehensive system for efficiently creating high-fidelity digital twins of dynamic real-world scenes from on-device logs. Recent methods using neural fields or Gaussian Splatting primarily focus on vehicles, hindering a holistic framework for all dynamic foregrounds demanded by downstream applications, e.g., the simulation of human behavior. OmniRe extends beyond vehicle modeling to enable accurate, full-length reconstruction of diverse dynamic objects in urban scenes. Our approach builds scene graphs on 3DGS and constructs multiple Gaussian representations in canonical spaces that model various dynamic actors, including vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and others. OmniRe allows holistically reconstructing any dynamic object in the scene, enabling advanced simulations (~60Hz) that include human-participated scenarios, such as pedestrian behavior simulation and human-vehicle interaction. This comprehensive simulation capability is unmatched by existing methods. Extensive evaluations on the Waymo dataset show that our approach outperforms prior state-of-the-art methods quantitatively and qualitatively by a large margin. We further extend our results to 5 additional popular driving datasets to demonstrate its generalizability on common urban scenes.

Content-Adaptive Rate-Quality Curve Prediction Model in Media Processing SystemShibo Yin, Zhiyu Zhang, Peirong Ning et al.
In streaming media services, video transcoding is a common practice to alleviate bandwidth demands. Unfortunately, traditional methods employing a uniform rate factor (RF) across all videos often result in significant inefficiencies. Content-adaptive encoding (CAE) techniques address this by dynamically adjusting encoding parameters based on video content characteristics. However, existing CAE methods are often tightly coupled with specific encoding strategies, leading to inflexibility. In this paper, we propose a model that predicts both RF-quality and RF-bitrate curves, which can be utilized to derive a comprehensive bitrate-quality curve. This approach facilitates flexible adjustments to the encoding strategy without necessitating model retraining. The model leverages codec features, content features, and anchor features to predict the bitrate-quality curve accurately. Additionally, we introduce an anchor suspension method to enhance prediction accuracy. Experiments confirm that the actual quality metric (VMAF) of the compressed video stays within 1 of the target, achieving an accuracy of 99.14%. By incorporating our quality improvement strategy with the rate-quality curve prediction model, we conducted online A/B tests, obtaining both +0.107% improvements in video views and video completions and +0.064% app duration time. Our model has been deployed on the Xiaohongshu App.

StableFace: Analyzing and Improving Motion Stability for Talking Face GenerationJun Ling, Xu Tan, Liyang Chen et al.
While previous speech-driven talking face generation methods have made significant progress in improving the visual quality and lip-sync quality of the synthesized videos, they pay less attention to lip motion jitters which greatly undermine the realness of talking face videos. What causes motion jitters, and how to mitigate the problem? In this paper, we conduct systematic analyses on the motion jittering problem based on a state-of-the-art pipeline that uses 3D face representations to bridge the input audio and output video, and improve the motion stability with a series of effective designs. We find that several issues can lead to jitters in synthesized talking face video: 1) jitters from the input 3D face representations; 2) training-inference mismatch; 3) lack of dependency modeling among video frames. Accordingly, we propose three effective solutions to address this issue: 1) we propose a gaussian-based adaptive smoothing module to smooth the 3D face representations to eliminate jitters in the input; 2) we add augmented erosions on the input data of the neural renderer in training to simulate the distortion in inference to reduce mismatch; 3) we develop an audio-fused transformer generator to model dependency among video frames. Besides, considering there is no off-the-shelf metric for measuring motion jitters in talking face video, we devise an objective metric (Motion Stability Index, MSI), to quantitatively measure the motion jitters by calculating the reciprocal of variance acceleration. Extensive experimental results show the superiority of our method on motion-stable face video generation, with better quality than previous systems.

360-Degree Panorama Generation from Few Unregistered NFoV ImagesJionghao Wang, Ziyu Chen, Jun Ling et al.
360$^\circ$ panoramas are extensively utilized as environmental light sources in computer graphics. However, capturing a 360$^\circ$ $\times$ 180$^\circ$ panorama poses challenges due to the necessity of specialized and costly equipment, and additional human resources. Prior studies develop various learning-based generative methods to synthesize panoramas from a single Narrow Field-of-View (NFoV) image, but they are limited in alterable input patterns, generation quality, and controllability. To address these issues, we propose a novel pipeline called PanoDiff, which efficiently generates complete 360$^\circ$ panoramas using one or more unregistered NFoV images captured from arbitrary angles. Our approach has two primary components to overcome the limitations. Firstly, a two-stage angle prediction module to handle various numbers of NFoV inputs. Secondly, a novel latent diffusion-based panorama generation model uses incomplete panorama and text prompts as control signals and utilizes several geometric augmentation schemes to ensure geometric properties in generated panoramas. Experiments show that PanoDiff achieves state-of-the-art panoramic generation quality and high controllability, making it suitable for applications such as content editing.

Learning Dense UV Completion for Human Mesh RecoveryYanjun Wang, Qingping Sun, Wenjia Wang et al.
Human mesh reconstruction from a single image is challenging in the presence of occlusion, which can be caused by self, objects, or other humans. Existing methods either fail to separate human features accurately or lack proper supervision for feature completion. In this paper, we propose Dense Inpainting Human Mesh Recovery (DIMR), a two-stage method that leverages dense correspondence maps to handle occlusion. Our method utilizes a dense correspondence map to separate visible human features and completes human features on a structured UV map dense human with an attention-based feature completion module. We also design a feature inpainting training procedure that guides the network to learn from unoccluded features. We evaluate our method on several datasets and demonstrate its superior performance under heavily occluded scenarios compared to other methods. Extensive experiments show that our method obviously outperforms prior SOTA methods on heavily occluded images and achieves comparable results on the standard benchmarks (3DPW).

OmniScaleSR: Unleashing Scale-Controlled Diffusion Prior for Faithful and Realistic Arbitrary-Scale Image Super-ResolutionXinning Chai, Zhengxue Cheng, Yuhong Zhang et al.
Arbitrary-scale super-resolution (ASSR) overcomes the limitation of traditional super-resolution (SR) methods that operate only at fixed scales (e.g., 4x), enabling a single model to handle arbitrary magnification. Most existing ASSR approaches rely on implicit neural representation (INR), but its regression-driven feature extraction and aggregation intrinsically limit the ability to synthesize fine details, leading to low realism. Recent diffusion-based realistic image super-resolution (Real-ISR) models leverage powerful pre-trained diffusion priors and show impressive results at the 4x setting. We observe that they can also achieve ASSR because the diffusion prior implicitly adapts to scale by encouraging high-realism generation. However, without explicit scale control, the diffusion process cannot be properly adjusted for different magnification levels, resulting in excessive hallucination or blurry outputs, especially under ultra-high scales. To address these issues, we propose OmniScaleSR, a diffusion-based realistic arbitrary-scale SR framework designed to achieve both high fidelity and high realism. We introduce explicit, diffusion-native scale control mechanisms that work synergistically with implicit scale adaptation, enabling scale-aware and content-aware modulation of the diffusion process. In addition, we incorporate multi-domain fidelity enhancement designs to further improve reconstruction accuracy. Extensive experiments on bicubic degradation benchmarks and real-world datasets show that OmniScaleSR surpasses state-of-the-art methods in both fidelity and perceptual realism, with particularly strong performance at large magnification factors. Implicit-explicit Integrated Representations for Multi-view Video CompressionChen Zhu, Guo Lu, Bing He et al.
With the increasing consumption of 3D displays and virtual reality, multi-view video has become a promising format. However, its high resolution and multi-camera shooting result in a substantial increase in data volume, making storage and transmission a challenging task. To tackle these difficulties, we propose an implicit-explicit integrated representation for multi-view video compression. Specifically, we first use the explicit representation-based 2D video codec to encode one of the source views. Subsequently, we propose employing the implicit neural representation (INR)-based codec to encode the remaining views. The implicit codec takes the time and view index of multi-view video as coordinate inputs and generates the corresponding implicit reconstruction frames.To enhance the compressibility, we introduce a multi-level feature grid embedding and a fully convolutional architecture into the implicit codec. These components facilitate coordinate-feature and feature-RGB mapping, respectively. To further enhance the reconstruction quality from the INR codec, we leverage the high-quality reconstructed frames from the explicit codec to achieve inter-view compensation. Finally, the compensated results are fused with the implicit reconstructions from the INR to obtain the final reconstructed frames. Our proposed framework combines the strengths of both implicit neural representation and explicit 2D codec. Extensive experiments conducted on public datasets demonstrate that the proposed framework can achieve comparable or even superior performance to the latest multi-view video compression standard MIV and other INR-based schemes in terms of view compression and scene modeling.

MeetBench-XL: Calibrated Multi-Dimensional Evaluation and Learned Dual-Policy Agents for Real-Time MeetingsYuelin Hu, Jun Xu, Bingcong Lu et al.
Enterprise meeting environments require AI assistants that handle diverse operational tasks, from rapid fact checking during live discussions to cross meeting analysis for strategic planning, under strict latency, cost, and privacy constraints. Existing meeting benchmarks mainly focus on simplified question answering and fail to reflect real world enterprise workflows, where queries arise organically from multi stakeholder collaboration, span long temporal contexts, and require tool augmented reasoning. We address this gap through a grounded dataset and a learned agent framework. First, we introduce MeetAll, a bilingual and multimodal corpus derived from 231 enterprise meetings totaling 140 hours. Questions are injected using an enterprise informed protocol validated by domain expert review and human discriminability studies. Unlike purely synthetic benchmarks, this protocol is grounded in four enterprise critical dimensions: cognitive load, temporal context span, domain expertise, and actionable task execution, calibrated through interviews with stakeholders across finance, healthcare, and technology sectors. Second, we propose MeetBench XL, a multi dimensional evaluation protocol aligned with human judgment that measures factual fidelity, intent alignment, response efficiency, structural clarity, and completeness. Third, we present MeetMaster XL, a learned dual policy agent that jointly optimizes query routing between fast and slow reasoning paths and tool invocation, including retrieval, cross meeting aggregation, and web search. A lightweight classifier enables accurate routing with minimal overhead, achieving a superior quality latency tradeoff over single model baselines. HPC: Hierarchical Progressive Coding Framework for Volumetric VideoZihan Zheng, Houqiang Zhong, Qiang Hu et al.
Volumetric video based on Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) holds vast potential for various 3D applications, but its substantial data volume poses significant challenges for compression and transmission. Current NeRF compression lacks the flexibility to adjust video quality and bitrate within a single model for various network and device capacities. To address these issues, we propose HPC, a novel hierarchical progressive volumetric video coding framework achieving variable bitrate using a single model. Specifically, HPC introduces a hierarchical representation with a multi-resolution residual radiance field to reduce temporal redundancy in long-duration sequences while simultaneously generating various levels of detail. Then, we propose an end-to-end progressive learning approach with a multi-rate-distortion loss function to jointly optimize both hierarchical representation and compression. Our HPC trained only once can realize multiple compression levels, while the current methods need to train multiple fixed-bitrate models for different rate-distortion (RD) tradeoffs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that HPC achieves flexible quality levels with variable bitrate by a single model and exhibits competitive RD performance, even outperforming fixed-bitrate models across various datasets.

GAC: Noise-Aware Adaptive Mixing for Hybrid SFT-RL Post-TrainingYuelin Hu, Zhenbo Yu, Zhengxue Cheng et al.
Hybrid post-training usually combines supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, but fixed mixing schedules cannot adapt when the relative noise of the two signals changes over time. We propose GAC, a noise-aware controller that derives an adaptive mixing weight from online estimates of gradient variance and disagreement between the two training signals. The method adds smoothing, prior guidance, and bounded updates while reusing existing training tensors. Experiments on math, code, science, and logic benchmarks show that GAC consistently improves hybrid post-training over strong fixed and rule-based baselines, with larger gains at larger model scales and less than 1% training overhead.

Full-4D: Generating Full-Scope 4D Scenes from a Single-View VideoTingxi Chen, Ke Hao, Yabo Chen et al.
Generating 4D scenes from a single-view video is inherently ill-posed: a single viewpoint lacks the information needed to recover a complete, dynamic scene with full coverage. Existing methods are typically limited to monocular videos, simple 3D effects, or only small viewpoint perturbations around the original viewpoint, falling short of true 4D generation. Meanwhile, the lack of large-scale datasets capturing full-scope 4D scenes with synchronized multi-view videos further hinders progress in this direction. We propose a novel single-view video-to-4D framework that casts full-scope 4D generation as a multi-view video synthesis followed by optimization-based 4D reconstruction from the generated views. To instantiate this formulation end-to-end, we make three key contributions. First, we introduce Real-MV-4D, a large-scale dataset of synchronized multi-view videos captured in diverse real-world environments to provide the 4D supervision. Second, we train a multi-view video diffusion model driven by a novel fused time(T)-view(V) attention mechanism that directly embeds geometric reprojection priors and explicit camera conditioning into its view-time interactions. Unlike basic feature fusion, this direct binding strictly aligns the generation process with physical 3D priors to produce a dense, synchronized T$\times $V video grid. Third, rather than relying on non-interactive and inconsistent 2D video interpolations, we lift the synthesized multi-view videos into an explicit 4D representation (i.e. 4DGS), regularized by a Flow Matching Distillation loss that exploits the multi-view prior to improve novel-view rendering. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms existing approaches in both visual fidelity and geometric consistency, enabling full-scope 4D scene generation from single-view videos.

A Codec Information Assisted Framework for Efficient Compressed Video Super-ResolutionHengsheng Zhang, Xueyi Zou, Jiaming Guo et al.
Online processing of compressed videos to increase their resolutions attracts increasing and broad attention. Video Super-Resolution (VSR) using recurrent neural network architecture is a promising solution due to its efficient modeling of long-range temporal dependencies. However, state-of-the-art recurrent VSR models still require significant computation to obtain a good performance, mainly because of the complicated motion estimation for frame/feature alignment and the redundant processing of consecutive video frames. In this paper, considering the characteristics of compressed videos, we propose a Codec Information Assisted Framework (CIAF) to boost and accelerate recurrent VSR models for compressed videos. Firstly, the framework reuses the coded video information of Motion Vectors to model the temporal relationships between adjacent frames. Experiments demonstrate that the models with Motion Vector based alignment can significantly boost the performance with negligible additional computation, even comparable to those using more complex optical flow based alignment. Secondly, by further making use of the coded video information of Residuals, the framework can be informed to skip the computation on redundant pixels. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework can save up to 70% of the computation without performance drop on the REDS4 test videos encoded by H.264 when CRF is 23.

Spatio-Temporal Contrastive Self-Supervised Learning for POI-level Crowd Flow InferenceSongyu Ke, Ting Li, Li Song et al.
Accurate acquisition of crowd flow at Points of Interest (POIs) is pivotal for effective traffic management, public service, and urban planning. Despite this importance, due to the limitations of urban sensing techniques, the data quality from most sources is inadequate for monitoring crowd flow at each POI. This renders the inference of accurate crowd flow from low-quality data a critical and challenging task. The complexity is heightened by three key factors: 1) The scarcity and rarity of labeled data, 2) The intricate spatio-temporal dependencies among POIs, and 3) The myriad correlations between precise crowd flow and GPS reports. To address these challenges, we recast the crowd flow inference problem as a self-supervised attributed graph representation learning task and introduce a novel Contrastive Self-learning framework for Spatio-Temporal data (CSST). Our approach initiates with the construction of a spatial adjacency graph founded on the POIs and their respective distances. We then employ a contrastive learning technique to exploit large volumes of unlabeled spatio-temporal data. We adopt a swapped prediction approach to anticipate the representation of the target subgraph from similar instances. Following the pre-training phase, the model is fine-tuned with accurate crowd flow data. Our experiments, conducted on two real-world datasets, demonstrate that the CSST pre-trained on extensive noisy data consistently outperforms models trained from scratch.

OmniZip: Learning a Unified and Lightweight Lossless Compressor for Multi-Modal DataYan Zhao, Zhengxue Cheng, Junxuan Zhang et al.
Lossless compression is essential for efficient data storage and transmission. Although learning-based lossless compressors achieve strong results, most of them are designed for a single modality, leading to redundant compressor deployments in multi-modal settings. Designing a unified multi-modal compressor is critical yet challenging, as different data types vary largely in format, dimension, and statistics. Multi-modal large language models offer a promising resolution but remain too complex for practical use. Thus, we propose \textbf{OmniZip}, \textbf{a unified and lightweight lossless compressor for multi-modal data (like image, text, speech, tactile, database, and gene sequence)}. Built on a lightweight backbone, OmniZip incorporates three key components to enable efficient multi-modal lossless compression: a modality-unified tokenizer that reversibly transforms diverse data into tokens, a modality-routing context learning mechanism that enables flexible multi-modal context modeling, and a modality-routing feedforward design that further enhances the model's nonlinear representation flexibility. A reparameterization training strategy is used to enhance model capacity. OmniZip outperforms or matches other state-of-the-art compressors on multiple modalities, achieving 42\%, 57\%, 62\% and 42\%, 53\% higher compression efficiency than gzip on CLIC-M, TouchandGo, enwik9, LibriSpeech, and WikiSQL datasets, respectively. It also supports near real-time inference on resource-constrained edge devices, reaching about 1MB/s on MacBook CPUs and iPhone NPUs. Diff-Restorer: Unleashing Visual Prompts for Diffusion-based Universal Image RestorationYuhong Zhang, Hengsheng Zhang, Xinning Chai et al.
Image restoration is a classic low-level problem aimed at recovering high-quality images from low-quality images with various degradations such as blur, noise, rain, haze, etc. However, due to the inherent complexity and non-uniqueness of degradation in real-world images, it is challenging for a model trained for single tasks to handle real-world restoration problems effectively. Moreover, existing methods often suffer from over-smoothing and lack of realism in the restored results. To address these issues, we propose Diff-Restorer, a universal image restoration method based on the diffusion model, aiming to leverage the prior knowledge of Stable Diffusion to remove degradation while generating high perceptual quality restoration results. Specifically, we utilize the pre-trained visual language model to extract visual prompts from degraded images, including semantic and degradation embeddings. The semantic embeddings serve as content prompts to guide the diffusion model for generation. In contrast, the degradation embeddings modulate the Image-guided Control Module to generate spatial priors for controlling the spatial structure of the diffusion process, ensuring faithfulness to the original image. Additionally, we design a Degradation-aware Decoder to perform structural correction and convert the latent code to the pixel domain. We conducted comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis on restoration tasks with different degradations, demonstrating the effectiveness and superiority of our approach.

PoseTalk: Text-and-Audio-based Pose Control and Motion Refinement for One-Shot Talking Head GenerationJun Ling, Yiwen Wang, Han Xue et al.
While previous audio-driven talking head generation (THG) methods generate head poses from driving audio, the generated poses or lips cannot match the audio well or are not editable. In this study, we propose \textbf{PoseTalk}, a THG system that can freely generate lip-synchronized talking head videos with free head poses conditioned on text prompts and audio. The core insight of our method is using head pose to connect visual, linguistic, and audio signals. First, we propose to generate poses from both audio and text prompts, where the audio offers short-term variations and rhythm correspondence of the head movements and the text prompts describe the long-term semantics of head motions. To achieve this goal, we devise a Pose Latent Diffusion (PLD) model to generate motion latent from text prompts and audio cues in a pose latent space. Second, we observe a loss-imbalance problem: the loss for the lip region contributes less than 4\% of the total reconstruction loss caused by both pose and lip, making optimization lean towards head movements rather than lip shapes. To address this issue, we propose a refinement-based learning strategy to synthesize natural talking videos using two cascaded networks, i.e., CoarseNet, and RefineNet. The CoarseNet estimates coarse motions to produce animated images in novel poses and the RefineNet focuses on learning finer lip motions by progressively estimating lip motions from low-to-high resolutions, yielding improved lip-synchronization performance. Experiments demonstrate our pose prediction strategy achieves better pose diversity and realness compared to text-only or audio-only, and our video generator model outperforms state-of-the-art methods in synthesizing talking videos with natural head motions. NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Quality Assessment and Enhancement: Methods and ResultsXin Li, Kun Yuan, Bingchen Li et al.
This paper presents a review for the NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Quality Assessment and Enhancement. The challenge comprises two tracks: (i) Efficient Video Quality Assessment (KVQ), and (ii) Diffusion-based Image Super-Resolution (KwaiSR). Track 1 aims to advance the development of lightweight and efficient video quality assessment (VQA) models, with an emphasis on eliminating reliance on model ensembles, redundant weights, and other computationally expensive components in the previous IQA/VQA competitions. Track 2 introduces a new short-form UGC dataset tailored for single image super-resolution, i.e., the KwaiSR dataset. It consists of 1,800 synthetically generated S-UGC image pairs and 1,900 real-world S-UGC images, which are split into training, validation, and test sets using a ratio of 8:1:1. The primary objective of the challenge is to drive research that benefits the user experience of short-form UGC platforms such as Kwai and TikTok. This challenge attracted 266 participants and received 18 valid final submissions with corresponding fact sheets, significantly contributing to the progress of short-form UGC VQA and image superresolution. H3D-DGS: Exploring Heterogeneous 3D Motion Representation for Deformable 3D Gaussian SplattingBing He, Yunuo Chen, Guo Lu et al.
Dynamic scene reconstruction poses a persistent challenge in 3D vision. Deformable 3D Gaussian Splatting has emerged as an effective method for this task, offering real-time rendering and high visual fidelity. This approach decomposes a dynamic scene into a static representation in a canonical space and time-varying scene motion. Scene motion is defined as the collective movement of all Gaussian points, and for compactness, existing approaches commonly adopt implicit neural fields or sparse control points. However, these methods predominantly rely on gradient-based optimization for all motion information. Due to the high degree of freedom, they struggle to converge on real-world datasets exhibiting complex motion. To preserve the compactness of motion representation and address convergence challenges, this paper proposes heterogeneous 3D control points, termed \textbf{H3D control points}, whose attributes are obtained using a hybrid strategy combining optical flow back-projection and gradient-based methods. This design decouples directly observable motion components from those that are geometrically occluded. Specifically, components of 3D motion that project onto the image plane are directly acquired via optical flow back projection, while unobservable portions are refined through gradient-based optimization. Experiments on the Neu3DV and CMU-Panoptic datasets demonstrate that our method achieves superior performance over state-of-the-art deformable 3D Gaussian splatting techniques. Remarkably, our method converges within just 100 iterations and achieves a per-frame processing speed of 2 seconds on a single NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU.

SSP-IR: Semantic and Structure Priors for Diffusion-based Realistic Image RestorationYuhong Zhang, Hengsheng Zhang, Zhengxue Cheng et al.
Realistic image restoration is a crucial task in computer vision, and diffusion-based models for image restoration have garnered significant attention due to their ability to produce realistic results. Restoration can be seen as a controllable generation conditioning on priors. However, due to the severity of image degradation, existing diffusion-based restoration methods cannot fully exploit priors from low-quality images and still have many challenges in perceptual quality, semantic fidelity, and structure accuracy. Based on the challenges, we introduce a novel image restoration method, SSP-IR. Our approach aims to fully exploit semantic and structure priors from low-quality images to guide the diffusion model in generating semantically faithful and structurally accurate natural restoration results. Specifically, we integrate the visual comprehension capabilities of Multimodal Large Language Models (explicit) and the visual representations of the original image (implicit) to acquire accurate semantic prior. To extract degradation-independent structure prior, we introduce a Processor with RGB and FFT constraints to extract structure prior from the low-quality images, guiding the diffusion model and preventing the generation of unreasonable artifacts. Lastly, we employ a multi-level attention mechanism to integrate the acquired semantic and structure priors. The qualitative and quantitative results demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods overall on both synthetic and real-world datasets. VidTok: A Versatile and Open-Source Video TokenizerAnni Tang, Tianyu He, Junliang Guo et al.
Encoding video content into compact latent tokens has become a fundamental step in video generation and understanding, driven by the need to address the inherent redundancy in pixel-level representations. Consequently, there is a growing demand for high-performance, open-source video tokenizers as video-centric research gains prominence. We introduce VidTok, a versatile video tokenizer that delivers state-of-the-art performance in both continuous and discrete tokenizations. VidTok incorporates several key advancements over existing approaches: 1) model architecture such as convolutional layers and up/downsampling modules; 2) to address the training instability and codebook collapse commonly associated with conventional Vector Quantization (VQ), we integrate Finite Scalar Quantization (FSQ) into discrete video tokenization; 3) improved training strategies, including a two-stage training process and the use of reduced frame rates. By integrating these advancements, VidTok achieves substantial improvements over existing methods, demonstrating superior performance across multiple metrics, including PSNR, SSIM, LPIPS, and FVD, under standardized evaluation settings.

Domain-Adaptive Communication-Rate Optimization for Sim-to-Real Humanoid-Robot Wireless XR TeleoperationCaolu Xu, Zhiyong Chen, Meixia Tao et al.
Wireless extended reality (XR) teleoperation provides embodied interaction capability for collecting humanoid robot demonstrations, but the large-scale adoption is restricted by the overhead of high-frequency motion transmission. This paper develops a system framework that integrates sampling, transmission, interpolation, and reconstruction and formulates a communication-rate optimization that aims to minimize the communication energy while maintaining the reconstruction accuracy of robot motion trajectories through dimension-wise sampling-rate control. Since acquiring real-time feedback from physical robots is limited by hardware costs, it is necessary to solve the problem through simulator interaction with offline real-domain data correction. To guide sim-to-real adaptation, we provide a PAC-Bayes generalization characterization that reveals the effects of latent density-ratio estimation, finite-sample deviation, and encoder bias. Building on this analysis, we propose a proximal policy optimization (PPO) method with density-ratio weighting and trust-region regularization. Experiments on public humanoid teleoperation dataset show that the proposed method improves the tradeoff between reconstruction error and communication energy consumption under sim-to-real distribution shift. We further analyze the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm across various wireless channels and dynamic motion trajectories.

DP-DeGauss: Dynamic Probabilistic Gaussian Decomposition for Egocentric 4D Scene ReconstructionTingxi Chen, Zhengxue Cheng, Houqiang Zhong et al.
Egocentric video is crucial for next-generation 4D scene reconstruction, with applications in AR/VR and embodied AI. However, reconstructing dynamic first-person scenes is challenging due to complex ego-motion, occlusions, and hand-object interactions. Existing decomposition methods are ill-suited, assuming fixed viewpoints or merging dynamics into a single foreground. To address these limitations, we introduce DP-DeGauss, a dynamic probabilistic Gaussian decomposition framework for egocentric 4D reconstruction. Our method initializes a unified 3D Gaussian set from COLMAP priors, augments each with a learnable category probability, and dynamically routes them into specialized deformation branches for background, hands, or object modeling. We employ category-specific masks for better disentanglement and introduce brightness and motion-flow control to improve static rendering and dynamic reconstruction. Extensive experiments show that DP-DeGauss outperforms baselines by +1.70dB in PSNR on average with SSIM and LPIPS gains. More importantly, our framework achieves the first and state-of-the-art disentanglement of background, hand, and object components, enabling explicit, fine-grained separation, paving the way for more intuitive ego scene understanding and editing.

Dyn-Adapter: Towards Disentangled Representation for Efficient Visual RecognitionYurong Zhang, Honghao Chen, Xinyu Zhang et al.
Parameter-efficient transfer learning (PETL) is a promising task, aiming to adapt the large-scale pre-trained model to downstream tasks with a relatively modest cost. However, current PETL methods struggle in compressing computational complexity and bear a heavy inference burden due to the complete forward process. This paper presents an efficient visual recognition paradigm, called Dynamic Adapter (Dyn-Adapter), that boosts PETL efficiency by subtly disentangling features in multiple levels. Our approach is simple: first, we devise a dynamic architecture with balanced early heads for multi-level feature extraction, along with adaptive training strategy. Second, we introduce a bidirectional sparsity strategy driven by the pursuit of powerful generalization ability. These qualities enable us to fine-tune efficiently and effectively: we reduce FLOPs during inference by 50%, while maintaining or even yielding higher recognition accuracy. Extensive experiments on diverse datasets and pretrained backbones demonstrate the potential of Dyn-Adapter serving as a general efficiency booster for PETL in vision recognition tasks.

Linear Attention Modeling for Learned Image CompressionDonghui Feng, Zhengxue Cheng, Shen Wang et al.
Recent years, learned image compression has made tremendous progress to achieve impressive coding efficiency. Its coding gain mainly comes from non-linear neural network-based transform and learnable entropy modeling. However, most studies focus on a strong backbone, and few studies consider a low complexity design. In this paper, we propose LALIC, a linear attention modeling for learned image compression. Specially, we propose to use Bi-RWKV blocks, by utilizing the Spatial Mix and Channel Mix modules to achieve more compact feature extraction, and apply the Conv based Omni-Shift module to adapt to two-dimensional latent representation. Furthermore, we propose a RWKV-based Spatial-Channel ConTeXt model (RWKV-SCCTX), that leverages the Bi-RWKV to modeling the correlation between neighboring features effectively. To our knowledge, our work is the first work to utilize efficient Bi-RWKV models with linear attention for learned image compression. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves competitive RD performances by outperforming VTM-9.1 by -15.26%, -15.41%, -17.63% in BD-rate on Kodak, CLIC and Tecnick datasets. A New People-Object Interaction Dataset and NVS BenchmarksShuai Guo, Houqiang Zhong, Qiuwen Wang et al.
Recently, NVS in human-object interaction scenes has received increasing attention. Existing human-object interaction datasets mainly consist of static data with limited views, offering only RGB images or videos, mostly containing interactions between a single person and objects. Moreover, these datasets exhibit complexities in lighting environments, poor synchronization, and low resolution, hindering high-quality human-object interaction studies. In this paper, we introduce a new people-object interaction dataset that comprises 38 series of 30-view multi-person or single-person RGB-D video sequences, accompanied by camera parameters, foreground masks, SMPL models, some point clouds, and mesh files. Video sequences are captured by 30 Kinect Azures, uniformly surrounding the scene, each in 4K resolution 25 FPS, and lasting for 1$\sim$19 seconds. Meanwhile, we evaluate some SOTA NVS models on our dataset to establish the NVS benchmarks. We hope our work can inspire further research in humanobject interaction.

SurfSplat: Conquering Feedforward 2D Gaussian Splatting with Surface Continuity PriorsBing He, Jingnan Gao, Yunuo Chen et al.
Reconstructing 3D scenes from sparse images remains a challenging task due to the difficulty of recovering accurate geometry and texture without optimization. Recent approaches leverage generalizable models to generate 3D scenes using 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) primitive. However, they often fail to produce continuous surfaces and instead yield discrete, color-biased point clouds that appear plausible at normal resolution but reveal severe artifacts under close-up views. To address this issue, we present SurfSplat, a feedforward framework based on 2D Gaussian Splatting (2DGS) primitive, which provides stronger anisotropy and higher geometric precision. By incorporating a surface continuity prior and a forced alpha blending strategy, SurfSplat reconstructs coherent geometry together with faithful textures. Furthermore, we introduce High-Resolution Rendering Consistency (HRRC), a new evaluation metric designed to evaluate high-resolution reconstruction quality. Extensive experiments on RealEstate10K, DL3DV, and ScanNet demonstrate that SurfSplat consistently outperforms prior methods on both standard metrics and HRRC, establishing a robust solution for high-fidelity 3D reconstruction from sparse inputs. Joint Degradation-Aware Arbitrary-Scale Super-Resolution for Variable-Rate Extreme Image CompressionXinning Chai, Zhengxue Cheng, Xin Li et al.
Recent diffusion-based extreme image compression methods have demonstrated remarkable performance at ultra-low bitrates. However, most approaches require training separate diffusion models for each target bitrate, resulting in substantial computational overhead and hindering practical deployment. Meanwhile, recent studies have shown that joint super-resolution can serve as an effective approach for enhancing low-bitrate reconstruction. However, when moving toward ultra-low bitrate regimes, these methods struggle due to severe information loss, and their reliance on fixed super-resolution scales prevents flexible adaptation across diverse bitrates. To address these limitations, we propose ASSR-EIC, a novel image compression framework that leverages arbitrary-scale super-resolution (ASSR) to support variable-rate extreme image compression (EIC). An arbitrary-scale downsampling module is introduced at the encoder side to provide controllable rate reduction, while a diffusion-based, joint degradation-aware ASSR decoder enables rate-adaptive reconstruction within a single model. We exploit the compression- and rescaling-aware diffusion prior to guide the reconstruction, yielding high fidelity and high realism restoration across diverse compression and rescaling settings. Specifically, we design a global compression-rescaling adaptor that offers holistic guidance for rate adaptation, and a local compression-rescaling modulator that dynamically balances generative and fidelity-oriented behaviors to achieve fine-grained, bitrate-adaptive detail restoration. To further enhance reconstruction quality, we introduce a dual semantic-enhanced design. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ASSR-EIC delivers state-of-the-art performance in extreme image compression while simultaneously supporting flexible bitrate control and adaptive rate-dependent reconstruction.

MultiEgo: A Multi-View Egocentric Video Dataset for 4D Scene ReconstructionBate Li, Houqiang Zhong, Zhengxue Cheng et al.
Multi-view egocentric dynamic scene reconstruction holds significant research value for applications in holographic documentation of social interactions. However, existing reconstruction datasets focus on static multi-view or single-egocentric view setups, lacking multi-view egocentric datasets for dynamic scene reconstruction. Therefore, we present MultiEgo, the first multi-view egocentric dataset for 4D dynamic scene reconstruction. The dataset comprises five canonical social interaction scenes: meetings, performances, and a presentation. Each scene provides five authentic egocentric videos captured by participants wearing AR glasses. We design a hardware-based data acquisition system and processing pipeline, achieving sub-millisecond temporal synchronization across views, coupled with accurate pose annotations. Experiment validation demonstrates the practical utility and effectiveness of our dataset for free-viewpoint video (FVV) applications, establishing MultiEgo as a foundational resource for advancing multi-view egocentric dynamic scene reconstruction research.

L3TC: Leveraging RWKV for Learned Lossless Low-Complexity Text CompressionJunxuan Zhang, Zhengxue Cheng, Yan Zhao et al.
Learning-based probabilistic models can be combined with an entropy coder for data compression. However, due to the high complexity of learning-based models, their practical application as text compressors has been largely overlooked. To address this issue, our work focuses on a low-complexity design while maintaining compression performance. We introduce a novel Learned Lossless Low-complexity Text Compression method (L3TC). Specifically, we conduct extensive experiments demonstrating that RWKV models achieve the fastest decoding speed with a moderate compression ratio, making it the most suitable backbone for our method. Second, we propose an outlier-aware tokenizer that uses a limited vocabulary to cover frequent tokens while allowing outliers to bypass the prediction and encoding. Third, we propose a novel high-rank reparameterization strategy that enhances the learning capability during training without increasing complexity during inference. Experimental results validate that our method achieves 48% bit saving compared to gzip compressor. Besides, L3TC offers compression performance comparable to other learned compressors, with a 50x reduction in model parameters. More importantly, L3TC is the fastest among all learned compressors, providing real-time decoding speeds up to megabytes per second. Distillation-Supervised Convolutional Low-Rank Adaptation for Efficient Image Super-ResolutionXinning Chai, Yao Zhang, Yuxuan Zhang et al.
Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used in efficient image super-resolution. However, for CNN-based methods, performance gains often require deeper networks and larger feature maps, which increase complexity and inference costs. Inspired by LoRA's success in fine-tuning large language models, we explore its application to lightweight models and propose Distillation-Supervised Convolutional Low-Rank Adaptation (DSCLoRA), which improves model performance without increasing architectural complexity or inference costs. Specifically, we integrate ConvLoRA into the efficient SR network SPAN by replacing the SPAB module with the proposed SConvLB module and incorporating ConvLoRA layers into both the pixel shuffle block and its preceding convolutional layer. DSCLoRA leverages low-rank decomposition for parameter updates and employs a spatial feature affinity-based knowledge distillation strategy to transfer second-order statistical information from teacher models (pre-trained SPAN) to student models (ours). This method preserves the core knowledge of lightweight models and facilitates optimal solution discovery under certain conditions. Experiments on benchmark datasets show that DSCLoRA improves PSNR and SSIM over SPAN while maintaining its efficiency and competitive image quality. Notably, DSCLoRA ranked first in the Overall Performance Track of the NTIRE 2025 Efficient Super-Resolution Challenge. WebExpert: domain-aware web agents with critic-guided expert experience for high-precision searchYuelin Hu, Zhengxue Cheng, Ronghua Wu et al.
Specialized web tasks in finance, biomedicine, and pharmaceuticals remain challenging due to missing domain priors: queries drift, evidence is noisy, and reasoning is brittle. We present WebExpert, a domain-aware web agent that we implement end-to-end, featuring : (i) sentence-level experience retrieval with topic merging and rule distillation, (ii) schemalight facet induction that bootstraps time,region,policy,industry facets from weak supervision instead of static hand-written lexicons, and (iii) preference-optimized planning that jointly improves query planning and retrieval via pairwise preference learning alongside a coverage-aware objective. At inference, a lightweight experience gate biases decoding toward active facets with fallback under low-retrieval confidence. On GAIA, GPQA, HLE, and WebWalkerQA, WebExpert improves Answer Exact Match (EM) by 1.5-3.6 pp over the strongest browsing baseline and reduces page hops. Analysis shows consistent gains and ablations on retrieval, topic merging, facet induction, and preference-aware training.

Entropy-Gated Selective Policy Optimization:Token-Level Gradient Allocation for Hybrid Training of Large Language ModelsYuelin Hu, Zhengxue Cheng, Wei Liu et al.
Hybrid training methods for large language models combine supervised fine tuning (SFT) on expert demonstrations with reinforcement learning (RL) on model rollouts, typically at the sample level. We propose Entropy Gated Selective Policy Optimization (EGSPO), a three stage framework that extends sample level mixing with token level gradient modulation. Stage 1, SFT expert learning, establishes a reliable warm up policy using expert demonstrations with a pure SFT loss. Stage 2, RL rollout generation, samples trajectories from the current policy and computes per token predictive entropy. Stage 3, the EGSPO mechanism, applies entropy gated gradient allocation: a predictive entropy module routes high entropy tokens to full PPO updates to encourage exploration, and low entropy tokens to attenuated PPO updates to reduce variance and preserve knowledge. Critically, both branches incorporate the advantage function A_t, ensuring that incorrect trajectories receive consistent negative learning signals and preventing reinforcement of confident errors. EGSPO achieves consistent improvements on mathematical reasoning benchmarks, with gains of 3.8 percent on AIME and 2.9 percent on MATH over the CHORD phi baseline, while incurring only 3.4 percent additional computational overhead.

Lightweight High-Fidelity Low-Bitrate Talking Face Compression for 3D Video ConferenceJianglong Li, Jun Xu, Bingcong Lu et al.
The demand for immersive and interactive communication has driven advancements in 3D video conferencing, yet achieving high-fidelity 3D talking face representation at low bitrates remains a challenge. Traditional 2D video compression techniques fail to preserve fine-grained geometric and appearance details, while implicit neural rendering methods like NeRF suffer from prohibitive computational costs. To address these challenges, we propose a lightweight, high-fidelity, low-bitrate 3D talking face compression framework that integrates FLAME-based parametric modeling with 3DGS neural rendering. Our approach transmits only essential facial metadata in real time, enabling efficient reconstruction with a Gaussian-based head model. Additionally, we introduce a compact representation and compression scheme, including Gaussian attribute compression and MLP optimization, to enhance transmission efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves superior rate-distortion performance, delivering high-quality facial rendering at extremely low bitrates, making it well-suited for real-time 3D video conferencing applications.

TaCo: A Benchmark for Lossless and Lossy Codecs of Heterogeneous Tactile DataZhengxue Cheng, Yan Zhao, Keyu Wang et al.
Tactile sensing is crucial for embodied intelligence, providing fine-grained perception and control in complex environments. However, efficient tactile data compression, which is essential for real-time robotic applications under strict bandwidth constraints, remains underexplored. The inherent heterogeneity and spatiotemporal complexity of tactile data further complicate this challenge. To bridge this gap, we introduce TaCo, the first comprehensive benchmark for Tactile data Codecs. TaCo evaluates 30 compression methods, including off-the-shelf compression algorithms and neural codecs, across five diverse datasets from various sensor types. We systematically assess both lossless and lossy compression schemes on four key tasks: lossless storage, human visualization, material and object classification, and dexterous robotic grasping. Notably, we pioneer the development of data-driven codecs explicitly trained on tactile data, TaCo-LL (lossless) and TaCo-L (lossy). Results have validated the superior performance of our TaCo-LL and TaCo-L. This benchmark provides a foundational framework for understanding the critical trade-offs between compression efficiency and task performance, paving the way for future advances in tactile perception.

Enhanced Semantic Extraction and Guidance for UGC Image Super ResolutionYiwen Wang, Ying Liang, Yuxuan Zhang et al.
Due to the disparity between real-world degradations in user-generated content(UGC) images and synthetic degradations, traditional super-resolution methods struggle to generalize effectively, necessitating a more robust approach to model real-world distortions. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to UGC image super-resolution by integrating semantic guidance into a diffusion framework. Our method addresses the inconsistency between degradations in wild and synthetic datasets by separately simulating the degradation processes on the LSDIR dataset and combining them with the official paired training set. Furthermore, we enhance degradation removal and detail generation by incorporating a pretrained semantic extraction model (SAM2) and fine-tuning key hyperparameters for improved perceptual fidelity. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our approach against state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, the proposed model won second place in the CVPR NTIRE 2025 Short-form UGC Image Super-Resolution Challenge, further validating its effectiveness. AlignGS: Aligning Geometry and Semantics for Robust Indoor Reconstruction from Sparse ViewsYijie Gao, Houqiang Zhong, Tianchi Zhu et al.
The demand for semantically rich 3D models of indoor scenes is rapidly growing, driven by applications in augmented reality, virtual reality, and robotics. However, creating them from sparse views remains a challenge due to geometric ambiguity. Existing methods often treat semantics as a passive feature painted on an already-formed, and potentially flawed, geometry. We posit that for robust sparse-view reconstruction, semantic understanding instead be an active, guiding force. This paper introduces AlignGS, a novel framework that actualizes this vision by pioneering a synergistic, end-to-end optimization of geometry and semantics. Our method distills rich priors from 2D foundation models and uses them to directly regularize the 3D representation through a set of novel semantic-to-geometry guidance mechanisms, including depth consistency and multi-faceted normal regularization. Extensive evaluations on standard benchmarks demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art results in novel view synthesis and produces reconstructions with superior geometric accuracy. The results validate that leveraging semantic priors as a geometric regularizer leads to more coherent and complete 3D models from limited input views. AnimeColor: Reference-based Animation Colorization with Diffusion TransformersYuhong Zhang, Liyao Wang, Han Wang et al.
Animation colorization plays a vital role in animation production, yet existing methods struggle to achieve color accuracy and temporal consistency. To address these challenges, we propose \textbf{AnimeColor}, a novel reference-based animation colorization framework leveraging Diffusion Transformers (DiT). Our approach integrates sketch sequences into a DiT-based video diffusion model, enabling sketch-controlled animation generation. We introduce two key components: a High-level Color Extractor (HCE) to capture semantic color information and a Low-level Color Guider (LCG) to extract fine-grained color details from reference images. These components work synergistically to guide the video diffusion process. Additionally, we employ a multi-stage training strategy to maximize the utilization of reference image color information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that AnimeColor outperforms existing methods in color accuracy, sketch alignment, temporal consistency, and visual quality. Our framework not only advances the state of the art in animation colorization but also provides a practical solution for industrial applications. S2CFormer: Revisiting the RD-Latency Trade-off in Transformer-based Learned Image CompressionYunuo Chen, Qian Li, Bing He et al.
Transformer-based Learned Image Compression (LIC) suffers from a suboptimal trade-off between decoding latency and rate-distortion (R-D) performance. Moreover, the critical role of the FeedForward Network (FFN)-based channel aggregation module has been largely overlooked. Our research reveals that efficient channel aggregation-rather than complex and time-consuming spatial operations-is the key to achieving competitive LIC models. Based on this insight, we initiate the ``S2CFormer'' paradigm, a general architecture that simplifies spatial operations and enhances channel operations to overcome the previous trade-off. We present two instances of the S2CFormer: S2C-Conv, and S2C-Attention. Both models demonstrate state-of-the-art (SOTA) R-D performance and significantly faster decoding speed. Furthermore, we introduce S2C-Hybrid, an enhanced variant that maximizes the strengths of different S2CFormer instances to achieve a better performance-latency trade-off. This model outperforms all the existing methods on the Kodak, Tecnick, and CLIC Professional Validation datasets, setting a new benchmark for efficient and high-performance LIC. Region-aware Adaptive Instance Normalization for Image HarmonizationJun Ling, Han Xue, Li Song et al.
Image composition plays a common but important role in photo editing. To acquire photo-realistic composite images, one must adjust the appearance and visual style of the foreground to be compatible with the background. Existing deep learning methods for harmonizing composite images directly learn an image mapping network from the composite to the real one, without explicit exploration on visual style consistency between the background and the foreground images. To ensure the visual style consistency between the foreground and the background, in this paper, we treat image harmonization as a style transfer problem. In particular, we propose a simple yet effective Region-aware Adaptive Instance Normalization (RAIN) module, which explicitly formulates the visual style from the background and adaptively applies them to the foreground. With our settings, our RAIN module can be used as a drop-in module for existing image harmonization networks and is able to bring significant improvements. Toward Fine-grained Facial Expression ManipulationJun Ling, Han Xue, Li Song et al.
Facial expression manipulation aims at editing facial expression with a given condition. Previous methods edit an input image under the guidance of a discrete emotion label or absolute condition (e.g., facial action units) to possess the desired expression. However, these methods either suffer from changing condition-irrelevant regions or are inefficient for fine-grained editing. In this study, we take these two objectives into consideration and propose a novel method. First, we replace continuous absolute condition with relative condition, specifically, relative action units. With relative action units, the generator learns to only transform regions of interest which are specified by non-zero-valued relative AUs. Second, our generator is built on U-Net but strengthened by Multi-Scale Feature Fusion (MSF) mechanism for high-quality expression editing purposes. Extensive experiments on both quantitative and qualitative evaluation demonstrate the improvements of our proposed approach compared to the state-of-the-art expression editing methods. Next-Frame Decoding for Ultra-Low-Bitrate Image Compression with Video Diffusion PriorsYunuo Chen, Chuqin Zhou, Jiangchuan Li et al.
We present a novel paradigm for ultra-low-bitrate image compression (ULB-IC) that exploits the ``temporal'' evolution in generative image compression. Specifically, we define an explicit intermediate state during decoding: a compact anchor frame, which preserves the scene geometry and semantic layout while discarding high-frequency details. We then reinterpret generative decoding as a virtual temporal transition from this anchor to the final reconstructed image.To model this progression, we leverage a pretrained video diffusion model (VDM) as temporal priors: the anchor frame serves as the initial frame and the original image as the target frame, transforming the decoding process into a next-frame prediction task.In contrast to image diffusion-based ULB-IC models, our decoding proceeds from a visible, semantically faithful anchor, which improves both fidelity and realism for perceptual image compression. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves superior objective and subjective performance. On the CLIC2020 test set, our method achieves over \textbf{50\% bitrate savings} across LPIPS, DISTS, FID, and KID compared to DiffC, while also delivering a significant decoding speedup of up to $\times$5. Maximizing Rollout Informativeness under a Fixed Budget: A Submodular View of Tree Search for Tool-Use Agentic Reinforcement LearningYuelin Hu, Zhenbo Yu, Zhengxue Cheng et al.
We formalize Rollout Informativeness under a Fixed Budget (RIFB) as the expected non-vanishing policy-gradient mass that a tool-use rollout set injects into Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO). We prove that any budget-agnostic independent sampler suffers a collapse rate bounded away from zero for hard prompts regardless of the budget. Motivated by this, we recast intermediate state selection as a monotone submodular maximization problem, where a greedy one-step selector enjoys a 1 minus 1/e approximation guarantee. Our Uncertainty-aware Upper Confidence Bound (UUCB) terms arise as closed-form marginal gains of this objective. This turns the token-level entropy bonus from an empirical trick into an analytic consequence of the formulation. We present InfoTree, a training-time tree-search framework coupling UUCB with a learned Adaptive Budget Allocator (ABA) and an asynchronous Speculative Expansion scheme. ABA rescues prompts whose initial tree is wasted on uniform outcomes, lifting the mixed-outcome ratio from 58.1 percent to 76.3 percent with less than 5 percent budget overhead. Speculative Expansion reduces wall-clock overhead from 14.3 percent to 4.8 percent by tolerating bounded staleness in UUCB scores. Across nine benchmarks spanning math reasoning (AIME 2024 and 2025, MATH-500, OlympiadBench, USAMO), web-search agents (GAIA, HLE-100, BrowseComp-lite), and tool-rich coding and OS agents (APPS-verified, AgentBench-OS), InfoTree outperforms flat GRPO, DeepSearch, Tree-GRPO, AT2PO, CW-GRPO, and RC-GRPO. Head-to-head compositions with Tree-GRPO prefix sharing and CW-GRPO contribution weights deliver further gains, confirming that our selector operates orthogonally to rollout reuse and trajectory re-weighting. A 5 by 5 by 5 robustness grid reveals that over three quarters of the hyperparameter space lies on a performance plateau, confirming UUCB robustness.

AuditRepairBench: A Paired-Execution Trace Corpus for Evaluator-Channel Ranking Instability in Agent RepairYuelin Hu, Zhenbo Yu, Zhengxue Cheng et al.
Agent-repair leaderboards reorder under evaluator reconfiguration, and a measurable share of the reordering is produced by methods that consult evaluator-derived signal during internal selection of candidate repairs. We document this failure mode on a public leaderboard and release AuditRepairBench, a paired-execution trace corpus of 576,000 registered cells (96,000 executed) that operationalizes evaluator-channel-blocking ranking instability within a declared observability boundary. A modular screening architecture decides pathway-blocking through four interchangeable implementations, a learned influence proxy, a rule-based channel-exposure ratio that uses no trained model, a counterfactual sensitivity proxy, and a sparse human-audit proxy, combined into a screening posterior that feeds a cell-level flip functional, a set-valued label, a stratified system score, and a set-valued leaderboard. The resource is supported by mechanism-anchored validation on an 80-case source-level channel-surgery subset, an independent-discovery protocol under which two annotator groups separated from the pipeline developers discover coupling patterns blinded to the screening design and the frozen ensemble attains pooled AUROC 0.83 on their 79 cases, implementation robustness, uncertainty propagation that raises 95% coverage from 0.81 to 0.95, and forward transfer with pooled community-evaluator Spearman \r{ho} = 0.65. Screening-guided blinding patches reduce rank displacement by 55--74% (mean 62%) at fewer than 50 lines of code, whereas random channel blinding produces at most 7% reduction and generic retraining at most 13%. AuditRepairBench-Lite, a rule-only configuration on a 12,000-cell subset, preserves the leaderboard at Kendall τ = 0.88 under twenty-four GPU-hours and is the primary release artifact at 42 GB.
