InfoStyler: Disentanglement Information Bottleneck for Artistic Style TransferYueming Lyu, Yue Jiang, Bo Peng et al.
Artistic style transfer aims to transfer the style of an artwork to a photograph while maintaining its original overall content. Many prior works focus on designing various transfer modules to transfer the style statistics to the content image. Although effective, ignoring the clear disentanglement of the content features and the style features from the first beginning, they have difficulty in balancing between content preservation and style transferring. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel information disentanglement method, named InfoStyler, to capture the minimal sufficient information for both content and style representations from the pre-trained encoding network. InfoStyler formulates the disentanglement representation learning as an information compression problem by eliminating style statistics from the content image and removing the content structure from the style image. Besides, to further facilitate disentanglement learning, a cross-domain Information Bottleneck (IB) learning strategy is proposed by reconstructing the content and style domains. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our InfoStyler can synthesize high-quality stylized images while balancing content structure preservation and style pattern richness.

IP-Dialog: Evaluating Implicit Personalization in Dialogue Systems with Synthetic DataBo Peng, Zhiheng Wang, Heyang Gong et al.
In modern dialogue systems, the ability to implicitly infer user backgrounds from conversations and leverage this information for personalized assistance is crucial. However, the scarcity of high-quality data remains a fundamental challenge to evaluating and improving this capability. Traditional dataset construction methods are labor-intensive, resource-demanding, and raise privacy concerns. To address these issues, we propose a novel approach for automatic synthetic data generation and introduce the Implicit Personalized Dialogue (IP-Dialog) benchmark along with a training dataset, covering 10 tasks and 12 user attribute types. Additionally, we develop a systematic evaluation framework with four metrics to assess both attribute awareness and reasoning capabilities. We further propose five causal graphs to elucidate models' reasoning pathways during implicit personalization. Extensive experiments yield insightful observations and prove the reliability of our dataset.

A deep Convolutional Neural Network for topology optimization with strong generalization abilityYiquan Zhang, Bo Peng, Xiaoyi Zhou et al.
This paper proposes a deep Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) with strong generalization ability for structural topology optimization. The architecture of the neural network is made up of encoding and decoding parts, which provide down- and up-sampling operations. In addition, a popular technique, namely U-Net, was adopted to improve the performance of the proposed neural network. The input of the neural network is a well-designed tensor with each channel includes different information for the problem, and the output is the layout of the optimal structure. To train the neural network, a large dataset is generated by a conventional topology optimization approach, i.e. SIMP. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by comparing its efficiency and accuracy with SIMP on a series of typical optimization problems. Results show that a significant reduction in computation cost was achieved with little sacrifice on the optimality of design solutions. Furthermore, the proposed method can intelligently solve problems under boundary conditions not being included in the training dataset.

iQIYI-VID: A Large Dataset for Multi-modal Person IdentificationYuanliu Liu, Bo Peng, Peipei Shi et al.
Person identification in the wild is very challenging due to great variation in poses, face quality, clothes, makeup and so on. Traditional research, such as face recognition, person re-identification, and speaker recognition, often focuses on a single modal of information, which is inadequate to handle all the situations in practice. Multi-modal person identification is a more promising way that we can jointly utilize face, head, body, audio features, and so on. In this paper, we introduce iQIYI-VID, the largest video dataset for multi-modal person identification. It is composed of 600K video clips of 5,000 celebrities. These video clips are extracted from 400K hours of online videos of various types, ranging from movies, variety shows, TV series, to news broadcasting. All video clips pass through a careful human annotation process, and the error rate of labels is lower than 0.2\%. We evaluated the state-of-art models of face recognition, person re-identification, and speaker recognition on the iQIYI-VID dataset. Experimental results show that these models are still far from being perfect for the task of person identification in the wild. We proposed a Multi-modal Attention module to fuse multi-modal features that can improve person identification considerably. We have released the dataset online to promote multi-modal person identification research.

Extreme Network Compression via Filter Group ApproximationBo Peng, Wenming Tan, Zheyang Li et al.
In this paper we propose a novel decomposition method based on filter group approximation, which can significantly reduce the redundancy of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) while maintaining the majority of feature representation. Unlike other low-rank decomposition algorithms which operate on spatial or channel dimension of filters, our proposed method mainly focuses on exploiting the filter group structure for each layer. For several commonly used CNN models, including VGG and ResNet, our method can reduce over 80% floating-point operations (FLOPs) with less accuracy drop than state-of-the-art methods on various image classification datasets. Besides, experiments demonstrate that our method is conducive to alleviating degeneracy of the compressed network, which hurts the convergence and performance of the network.
