DAG: Depth-Aware Guidance with Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Models

Gyeongnyeon Kim, Wooseok Jang, Gyuseong Lee et al. · nvidia, utoronto

Generative models have recently undergone significant advancement due to the diffusion models. The success of these models can be often attributed to their use of guidance techniques, such as classifier or classifier-free guidance, which provide effective mechanisms to trade-off between fidelity and diversity. However, these methods are not capable of guiding a generated image to be aware of its geometric configuration, e.g., depth, which hinders their application to areas that require a certain level of depth awareness. To address this limitation, we propose a novel guidance method for diffusion models that uses estimated depth information derived from the rich intermediate representations of diffusion models. We first present label-efficient depth estimation framework using internal representations of diffusion models. Subsequently, we propose the incorporation of two guidance techniques based on pseudo-labeling and depth-domain diffusion prior during the sampling phase to self-condition the generated image using the estimated depth map. Experiments and comprehensive ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in guiding the diffusion models towards the generation of geometrically plausible images.

ControlFace: Harnessing Facial Parametric Control for Face Rigging

Wooseok Jang, Youngjun Hong, Geonho Cha et al.

Manipulation of facial images to meet specific controls such as pose, expression, and lighting, also known as face rigging, is a complex task in computer vision. Existing methods are limited by their reliance on image datasets, which necessitates individual-specific fine-tuning and limits their ability to retain fine-grained identity and semantic details, reducing practical usability. To overcome these limitations, we introduce ControlFace, a novel face rigging method conditioned on 3DMM renderings that enables flexible, high-fidelity control. We employ a dual-branch U-Nets: one, referred to as FaceNet, captures identity and fine details, while the other focuses on generation. To enhance control precision, the control mixer module encodes the correlated features between the target-aligned control and reference-aligned control, and a novel guidance method, reference control guidance, steers the generation process for better control adherence. By training on a facial video dataset, we fully utilize FaceNet's rich representations while ensuring control adherence. Extensive experiments demonstrate ControlFace's superior performance in identity preservation and control precision, highlighting its practicality. V-Warper: Appearance-Consistent Video Diffusion Personalization via Value Warping

Hyunkoo Lee, Wooseok Jang, Jini Yang et al.

Video personalization aims to generate videos that faithfully reflect a user-provided subject while following a text prompt. However, existing approaches often rely on heavy video-based finetuning or large-scale video datasets, which impose substantial computational cost and are difficult to scale. Furthermore, they still struggle to maintain fine-grained appearance consistency across frames. To address these limitations, we introduce V-Warper, a training-free coarse-to-fine personalization framework for transformer-based video diffusion models. The framework enhances fine-grained identity fidelity without requiring any additional video training. (1) A lightweight coarse appearance adaptation stage leverages only a small set of reference images, which are already required for the task. This step encodes global subject identity through image-only LoRA and subject-embedding adaptation. (2) A inference-time fine appearance injection stage refines visual fidelity by computing semantic correspondences from RoPE-free mid-layer query--key features. These correspondences guide the warping of appearance-rich value representations into semantically aligned regions of the generation process, with masking ensuring spatial reliability. V-Warper significantly improves appearance fidelity while preserving prompt alignment and motion dynamics, and it achieves these gains efficiently without large-scale video finetuning.
