TALL: Thumbnail Layout for Deepfake Video Detection

Yuting Xu, Jian Liang, Gengyun Jia et al.

The growing threats of deepfakes to society and cybersecurity have raised enormous public concerns, and increasing efforts have been devoted to this critical topic of deepfake video detection. Existing video methods achieve good performance but are computationally intensive. This paper introduces a simple yet effective strategy named Thumbnail Layout (TALL), which transforms a video clip into a pre-defined layout to realize the preservation of spatial and temporal dependencies. Specifically, consecutive frames are masked in a fixed position in each frame to improve generalization, then resized to sub-images and rearranged into a pre-defined layout as the thumbnail. TALL is model-agnostic and extremely simple by only modifying a few lines of code. Inspired by the success of vision transformers, we incorporate TALL into Swin Transformer, forming an efficient and effective method TALL-Swin. Extensive experiments on intra-dataset and cross-dataset validate the validity and superiority of TALL and SOTA TALL-Swin. TALL-Swin achieves 90.79$\%$ AUC on the challenging cross-dataset task, FaceForensics++ $\to$ Celeb-DF. The code is available at https://github.com/rainy-xu/TALL4Deepfake.

Disentangled Representation Learning for Text-Video Retrieval

Qiang Wang, Yanhao Zhang, Yun Zheng et al.

Cross-modality interaction is a critical component in Text-Video Retrieval (TVR), yet there has been little examination of how different influencing factors for computing interaction affect performance. This paper first studies the interaction paradigm in depth, where we find that its computation can be split into two terms, the interaction contents at different granularity and the matching function to distinguish pairs with the same semantics. We also observe that the single-vector representation and implicit intensive function substantially hinder the optimization. Based on these findings, we propose a disentangled framework to capture a sequential and hierarchical representation. Firstly, considering the natural sequential structure in both text and video inputs, a Weighted Token-wise Interaction (WTI) module is performed to decouple the content and adaptively exploit the pair-wise correlations. This interaction can form a better disentangled manifold for sequential inputs. Secondly, we introduce a Channel DeCorrelation Regularization (CDCR) to minimize the redundancy between the components of the compared vectors, which facilitate learning a hierarchical representation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the disentangled representation on various benchmarks, e.g., surpassing CLIP4Clip largely by +2.9%, +3.1%, +7.9%, +2.3%, +2.8% and +6.5% R@1 on the MSR-VTT, MSVD, VATEX, LSMDC, AcitivityNet, and DiDeMo, respectively.

NAF: Neural Attenuation Fields for Sparse-View CBCT Reconstruction

Ruyi Zha, Yanhao Zhang, Hongdong Li

This paper proposes a novel and fast self-supervised solution for sparse-view CBCT reconstruction (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) that requires no external training data. Specifically, the desired attenuation coefficients are represented as a continuous function of 3D spatial coordinates, parameterized by a fully-connected deep neural network. We synthesize projections discretely and train the network by minimizing the error between real and synthesized projections. A learning-based encoder entailing hash coding is adopted to help the network capture high-frequency details. This encoder outperforms the commonly used frequency-domain encoder in terms of having higher performance and efficiency, because it exploits the smoothness and sparsity of human organs. Experiments have been conducted on both human organ and phantom datasets. The proposed method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy and spends reasonably short computation time.

All-pairs Consistency Learning for Weakly Supervised Semantic Segmentation

Weixuan Sun, Yanhao Zhang, Zhen Qin et al.

In this work, we propose a new transformer-based regularization to better localize objects for Weakly supervised semantic segmentation (WSSS). In image-level WSSS, Class Activation Map (CAM) is adopted to generate object localization as pseudo segmentation labels. To address the partial activation issue of the CAMs, consistency regularization is employed to maintain activation intensity invariance across various image augmentations. However, such methods ignore pair-wise relations among regions within each CAM, which capture context and should also be invariant across image views. To this end, we propose a new all-pairs consistency regularization (ACR). Given a pair of augmented views, our approach regularizes the activation intensities between a pair of augmented views, while also ensuring that the affinity across regions within each view remains consistent. We adopt vision transformers as the self-attention mechanism naturally embeds pair-wise affinity. This enables us to simply regularize the distance between the attention matrices of augmented image pairs. Additionally, we introduce a novel class-wise localization method that leverages the gradients of the class token. Our method can be seamlessly integrated into existing WSSS methods using transformers without modifying the architectures. We evaluate our method on PASCAL VOC and MS COCO datasets. Our method produces noticeably better class localization maps (67.3% mIoU on PASCAL VOC train), resulting in superior WSSS performances.

RCL: Recurrent Continuous Localization for Temporal Action Detection

Qiang Wang, Yanhao Zhang, Yun Zheng et al.

Temporal representation is the cornerstone of modern action detection techniques. State-of-the-art methods mostly rely on a dense anchoring scheme, where anchors are sampled uniformly over the temporal domain with a discretized grid, and then regress the accurate boundaries. In this paper, we revisit this foundational stage and introduce Recurrent Continuous Localization (RCL), which learns a fully continuous anchoring representation. Specifically, the proposed representation builds upon an explicit model conditioned with video embeddings and temporal coordinates, which ensure the capability of detecting segments with arbitrary length. To optimize the continuous representation, we develop an effective scale-invariant sampling strategy and recurrently refine the prediction in subsequent iterations. Our continuous anchoring scheme is fully differentiable, allowing to be seamlessly integrated into existing detectors, e.g., BMN and G-TAD. Extensive experiments on two benchmarks demonstrate that our continuous representation steadily surpasses other discretized counterparts by ~2% mAP. As a result, RCL achieves 52.92% mAP@0.5 on THUMOS14 and 37.65% mAP on ActivtiyNet v1.3, outperforming all existing single-model detectors.

Knowledge Distillation from Single to Multi Labels: an Empirical Study

Youcai Zhang, Yuzhuo Qin, Hengwei Liu et al.

Knowledge distillation (KD) has been extensively studied in single-label image classification. However, its efficacy for multi-label classification remains relatively unexplored. In this study, we firstly investigate the effectiveness of classical KD techniques, including logit-based and feature-based methods, for multi-label classification. Our findings indicate that the logit-based method is not well-suited for multi-label classification, as the teacher fails to provide inter-category similarity information or regularization effect on student model's training. Moreover, we observe that feature-based methods struggle to convey compact information of multiple labels simultaneously. Given these limitations, we propose that a suitable dark knowledge should incorporate class-wise information and be highly correlated with the final classification results. To address these issues, we introduce a novel distillation method based on Class Activation Maps (CAMs), which is both effective and straightforward to implement. Across a wide range of settings, CAMs-based distillation consistently outperforms other methods.

AndesVL Technical Report: An Efficient Mobile-side Multimodal Large Language Model

Zhiwei Jin, Xiaohui Song, Nan Wang et al.

In recent years, while cloud-based MLLMs such as QwenVL, InternVL, GPT-4o, Gemini, and Claude Sonnet have demonstrated outstanding performance with enormous model sizes reaching hundreds of billions of parameters, they significantly surpass the limitations in memory, power consumption, and computing capacity of edge devices such as mobile phones. This paper introduces AndesVL, a suite of mobile-side MLLMs with 0.6B to 4B parameters based on Qwen3's LLM and various visual encoders. We comprehensively outline the model architectures, training pipeline, and training data of AndesVL, which achieves first-tier performance across a wide range of open-source benchmarks, including fields such as text-rich image understanding, reasoning and math, multi-image comprehension, general VQA, hallucination mitigation, multilingual understanding, and GUI-related tasks when compared with state-of-the-art models of a similar scale. Furthermore, we introduce a 1+N LoRA architecture alongside a Quantization-Aware LoRA Fine-Tuning (QALFT) framework to facilitate efficient task adaptation and model compression during mobile-side deployment of AndesVL. Moreover, utilizing our cache eviction algorithm -- OKV -- along with customized speculative decoding and compression strategies, we achieve a 6.7x peak decoding speedup ratio, up to 30.9% memory reduction, and 1.8 bits-per-weight when deploying AndesVL-4B on MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chips. We release all models on https://huggingface.co/OPPOer.

Homography Guided Temporal Fusion for Road Line and Marking Segmentation

Shan Wang, Chuong Nguyen, Jiawei Liu et al.

Reliable segmentation of road lines and markings is critical to autonomous driving. Our work is motivated by the observations that road lines and markings are (1) frequently occluded in the presence of moving vehicles, shadow, and glare and (2) highly structured with low intra-class shape variance and overall high appearance consistency. To solve these issues, we propose a Homography Guided Fusion (HomoFusion) module to exploit temporally-adjacent video frames for complementary cues facilitating the correct classification of the partially occluded road lines or markings. To reduce computational complexity, a novel surface normal estimator is proposed to establish spatial correspondences between the sampled frames, allowing the HomoFusion module to perform a pixel-to-pixel attention mechanism in updating the representation of the occluded road lines or markings. Experiments on ApolloScape, a large-scale lane mark segmentation dataset, and ApolloScape Night with artificial simulated night-time road conditions, demonstrate that our method outperforms other existing SOTA lane mark segmentation models with less than 9\% of their parameters and computational complexity. We show that exploiting available camera intrinsic data and ground plane assumption for cross-frame correspondence can lead to a light-weight network with significantly improved performances in speed and accuracy. We also prove the versatility of our HomoFusion approach by applying it to the problem of water puddle segmentation and achieving SOTA performance.

BARET : Balanced Attention based Real image Editing driven by Target-text Inversion

Yuming Qiao, Fanyi Wang, Jingwen Su et al.

Image editing approaches with diffusion models have been rapidly developed, yet their applicability are subject to requirements such as specific editing types (e.g., foreground or background object editing, style transfer), multiple conditions (e.g., mask, sketch, caption), and time consuming fine-tuning of diffusion models. For alleviating these limitations and realizing efficient real image editing, we propose a novel editing technique that only requires an input image and target text for various editing types including non-rigid edits without fine-tuning diffusion model. Our method contains three novelties:(I) Target-text Inversion Schedule (TTIS) is designed to fine-tune the input target text embedding to achieve fast image reconstruction without image caption and acceleration of convergence.(II) Progressive Transition Scheme applies progressive linear interpolation between target text embedding and its fine-tuned version to generate transition embedding for maintaining non-rigid editing capability.(III) Balanced Attention Module (BAM) balances the tradeoff between textual description and image semantics.By the means of combining self-attention map from reconstruction process and cross-attention map from transition process, the guidance of target text embeddings in diffusion process is optimized. In order to demonstrate editing capability, effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed BARET, we have conducted extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments. Moreover, results derived from user study and ablation study further prove the superiority over other methods.

Lightweight high-resolution Subject Matting in the Real World

Peng Liu, Fanyi Wang, Jingwen Su et al.

Existing saliency object detection (SOD) methods struggle to satisfy fast inference and accurate results simultaneously in high resolution scenes. They are limited by the quality of public datasets and efficient network modules for high-resolution images. To alleviate these issues, we propose to construct a saliency object matting dataset HRSOM and a lightweight network PSUNet. Considering efficient inference of mobile depolyment framework, we design a symmetric pixel shuffle module and a lightweight module TRSU. Compared to 13 SOD methods, the proposed PSUNet has the best objective performance on the high-resolution benchmark dataset. Evaluation results of objective assessment are superior compared to U$^2$Net that has 10 times of parameter amount of our network. On Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, inference a single 640$\times$640 image only takes 113ms. And on the subjective assessment, evaluation results are better than the industry benchmark IOS16 (Lift subject from background).

PIGEON: VLM-Driven Object Navigation via Points of Interest Selection

Cheng Peng, Zhenzhe Zhang, Cheng Chi et al.

Navigating to a specified object in an unknown environment is a fundamental yet challenging capability of embodied intelligence. However, current methods struggle to balance decision frequency with intelligence, resulting in decisions lacking foresight or discontinuous actions. In this work, we propose PIGEON: Point of Interest Guided Exploration for Object Navigation with VLM, maintaining a lightweight and semantically aligned snapshot memory during exploration as semantic input for the exploration strategy. We use a large Visual-Language Model (VLM), named PIGEON-VL, to select Points of Interest (PoI) formed during exploration and then employ a lower-level planner for action output, increasing the decision frequency. Additionally, this PoI-based decision-making enables the generation of Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Reward (RLVR) data suitable for simulators. Experiments on classic object navigation benchmarks demonstrate that our zero-shot transfer method achieves state-of-the-art performance, while RLVR further enhances the model's semantic guidance capabilities, enabling deep reasoning during real-time navigation.

An Alternative to WSSS? An Empirical Study of the Segment Anything Model (SAM) on Weakly-Supervised Semantic Segmentation Problems

Weixuan Sun, Zheyuan Liu, Yanhao Zhang et al.

The Segment Anything Model (SAM) has demonstrated exceptional performance and versatility, making it a promising tool for various related tasks. In this report, we explore the application of SAM in Weakly-Supervised Semantic Segmentation (WSSS). Particularly, we adapt SAM as the pseudo-label generation pipeline given only the image-level class labels. While we observed impressive results in most cases, we also identify certain limitations. Our study includes performance evaluations on PASCAL VOC and MS-COCO, where we achieved remarkable improvements over the latest state-of-the-art methods on both datasets. We anticipate that this report encourages further explorations of adopting SAM in WSSS, as well as wider real-world applications.

Fashion Focus: Multi-modal Retrieval System for Video Commodity Localization in E-commerce

Yanhao Zhang, Qiang Wang, Pan Pan et al.

Nowadays, live-stream and short video shopping in E-commerce have grown exponentially. However, the sellers are required to manually match images of the selling products to the timestamp of exhibition in the untrimmed video, resulting in a complicated process. To solve the problem, we present an innovative demonstration of multi-modal retrieval system called "Fashion Focus", which enables to exactly localize the product images in the online video as the focuses. Different modality contributes to the community localization, including visual content, linguistic features and interaction context are jointly investigated via presented multi-modal learning. Our system employs two procedures for analysis, including video content structuring and multi-modal retrieval, to automatically achieve accurate video-to-shop matching. Fashion Focus presents a unified framework that can orientate the consumers towards relevant product exhibitions during watching videos and help the sellers to effectively deliver the products over search and recommendation.

Virtual ID Discovery from E-commerce Media at Alibaba: Exploiting Richness of User Click Behavior for Visual Search Relevance

Yanhao Zhang, Pan Pan, Yun Zheng et al.

Visual search plays an essential role for E-commerce. To meet the search demands of users and promote shopping experience at Alibaba, visual search relevance of real-shot images is becoming the bottleneck. Traditional visual search paradigm is usually based upon supervised learning with labeled data. However, large-scale categorical labels are required with expensive human annotations, which limits its applicability and also usually fails in distinguishing the real-shot images. In this paper, we propose to discover Virtual ID from user click behavior to improve visual search relevance at Alibaba. As a totally click-data driven approach, we collect various types of click data for training deep networks without any human annotations at all. In particular, Virtual ID are learned as classification supervision with co-click embedding, which explores image relationship from user co-click behaviors to guide category prediction and feature learning. Concretely, we deploy Virtual ID Category Network by integrating first-clicks and switch-clicks as regularizer. Incorporating triplets and list constraints, Virtual ID Feature Network is trained in a joint classification and ranking manner. Benefiting from exploration of user click data, our networks are more effective to encode richer supervision and better distinguish real-shot images in terms of category and feature. To validate our method for visual search relevance, we conduct an extensive set of offline and online experiments on the collected real-shot images. We consistently achieve better experimental results across all components, compared with alternative and state-of-the-art methods.
