HyperDreamer: Hyper-Realistic 3D Content Generation and Editing from a Single ImageTong Wu, Zhibing Li, Shuai Yang et al.
3D content creation from a single image is a long-standing yet highly desirable task. Recent advances introduce 2D diffusion priors, yielding reasonable results. However, existing methods are not hyper-realistic enough for post-generation usage, as users cannot view, render and edit the resulting 3D content from a full range. To address these challenges, we introduce HyperDreamer with several key designs and appealing properties: 1) Viewable: 360 degree mesh modeling with high-resolution textures enables the creation of visually compelling 3D models from a full range of observation points. 2) Renderable: Fine-grained semantic segmentation and data-driven priors are incorporated as guidance to learn reasonable albedo, roughness, and specular properties of the materials, enabling semantic-aware arbitrary material estimation. 3) Editable: For a generated model or their own data, users can interactively select any region via a few clicks and efficiently edit the texture with text-based guidance. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of HyperDreamer in modeling region-aware materials with high-resolution textures and enabling user-friendly editing. We believe that HyperDreamer holds promise for advancing 3D content creation and finding applications in various domains.

Eguard: Defending LLM Embeddings Against Inversion Attacks via Text Mutual Information OptimizationTiantian Liu, Hongwei Yao, Feng Lin et al.
Embeddings have become a cornerstone in the functionality of large language models (LLMs) due to their ability to transform text data into rich, dense numerical representations that capture semantic and syntactic properties. These embedding vector databases serve as the long-term memory of LLMs, enabling efficient handling of a wide range of natural language processing tasks. However, the surge in popularity of embedding vector databases in LLMs has been accompanied by significant concerns about privacy leakage. Embedding vector databases are particularly vulnerable to embedding inversion attacks, where adversaries can exploit the embeddings to reverse-engineer and extract sensitive information from the original text data. Existing defense mechanisms have shown limitations, often struggling to balance security with the performance of downstream tasks. To address these challenges, we introduce Eguard, a novel defense mechanism designed to mitigate embedding inversion attacks. Eguard employs a transformer-based projection network and text mutual information optimization to safeguard embeddings while preserving the utility of LLMs. Our approach significantly reduces privacy risks, protecting over 95% of tokens from inversion while maintaining high performance across downstream tasks consistent with original embeddings.

Generalizing Nucleus Recognition Model in Multi-source Images via PruningJiatong Cai, Chenglu Zhu, Can Cui et al.
Ki67 is a significant biomarker in the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer, whose index can be evaluated by quantifying its expression in Ki67 immunohistochemistry (IHC) stained images. However, quantitative analysis on multi-source Ki67 images is yet a challenging task in practice due to cross-domain distribution differences, which result from imaging variation, staining styles, and lesion types. Many recent studies have made some efforts on domain generalization (DG), whereas there are still some noteworthy limitations. Specifically in the case of Ki67 images, learning invariant representation is at the mercy of the insufficient number of domains and the cell categories mismatching in different domains. In this paper, we propose a novel method to improve DG by searching the domain-agnostic subnetwork in a domain merging scenario. Partial model parameters are iteratively pruned according to the domain gap, which is caused by the data converting from a single domain into merged domains during training. In addition, the model is optimized by fine-tuning on merged domains to eliminate the interference of class mismatching among various domains. Furthermore, an appropriate implementation is attained by applying the pruning method to different parts of the framework. Compared with known DG methods, our method yields excellent performance in multiclass nucleus recognition of Ki67 IHC images, especially in the lost category cases. Moreover, our competitive results are also evaluated on the public dataset over the state-of-the-art DG methods.

Physical Adversarial Attack on Vehicle Detector in the Carla SimulatorTong Wu, Xuefei Ning, Wenshuo Li et al.
In this paper, we tackle the issue of physical adversarial examples for object detectors in the wild. Specifically, we proposed to generate adversarial patterns to be applied on vehicle surface so that it's not recognizable by detectors in the photo-realistic Carla simulator. Our approach contains two main techniques, an Enlarge-and-Repeat process and a Discrete Searching method, to craft mosaic-like adversarial vehicle textures without access to neither the model weight of the detector nor a differential rendering procedure. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in the simulator.

Meta Segmentation Network for Ultra-Resolution Medical ImagesTong Wu, Yuan Xie, Yanyun Qu et al.
Despite recent progress on semantic segmentation, there still exist huge challenges in medical ultra-resolution image segmentation. The methods based on multi-branch structure can make a good balance between computational burdens and segmentation accuracy. However, the fusion structure in these methods require to be designed elaborately to achieve desirable result, which leads to model redundancy. In this paper, we propose Meta Segmentation Network (MSN) to solve this challenging problem. With the help of meta-learning, the fusion module of MSN is quite simple but effective. MSN can fast generate the weights of fusion layers through a simple meta-learner, requiring only a few training samples and epochs to converge. In addition, to avoid learning all branches from scratch, we further introduce a particular weight sharing mechanism to realize a fast knowledge adaptation and share the weights among multiple branches, resulting in the performance improvement and significant parameters reduction. The experimental results on two challenging ultra-resolution medical datasets BACH and ISIC show that MSN achieves the best performance compared with the state-of-the-art methods.
Defending Against Physically Realizable Attacks on Image ClassificationTong Wu, Liang Tong, Yevgeniy Vorobeychik
We study the problem of defending deep neural network approaches for image classification from physically realizable attacks. First, we demonstrate that the two most scalable and effective methods for learning robust models, adversarial training with PGD attacks and randomized smoothing, exhibit very limited effectiveness against three of the highest profile physical attacks. Next, we propose a new abstract adversarial model, rectangular occlusion attacks, in which an adversary places a small adversarially crafted rectangle in an image, and develop two approaches for efficiently computing the resulting adversarial examples. Finally, we demonstrate that adversarial training using our new attack yields image classification models that exhibit high robustness against the physically realizable attacks we study, offering the first effective generic defense against such attacks.

AIBench: An Industry Standard Internet Service AI Benchmark SuiteWanling Gao, Fei Tang, Lei Wang et al.
Today's Internet Services are undergoing fundamental changes and shifting to an intelligent computing era where AI is widely employed to augment services. In this context, many innovative AI algorithms, systems, and architectures are proposed, and thus the importance of benchmarking and evaluating them rises. However, modern Internet services adopt a microservice-based architecture and consist of various modules. The diversity of these modules and complexity of execution paths, the massive scale and complex hierarchy of datacenter infrastructure, the confidential issues of data sets and workloads pose great challenges to benchmarking. In this paper, we present the first industry-standard Internet service AI benchmark suite---AIBench with seventeen industry partners, including several top Internet service providers. AIBench provides a highly extensible, configurable, and flexible benchmark framework that contains loosely coupled modules. We identify sixteen prominent AI problem domains like learning to rank, each of which forms an AI component benchmark, from three most important Internet service domains: search engine, social network, and e-commerce, which is by far the most comprehensive AI benchmarking effort. On the basis of the AIBench framework, abstracting the real-world data sets and workloads from one of the top e-commerce providers, we design and implement the first end-to-end Internet service AI benchmark, which contains the primary modules in the critical paths of an industry scale application and is scalable to deploy on different cluster scales. The specifications, source code, and performance numbers are publicly available from the benchmark council web site http://www.benchcouncil.org/AIBench/index.html.
