JustRL: Scaling a 1.5B LLM with a Simple RL RecipeBingxiang He, Zekai Qu, Zeyuan Liu et al.
Recent advances in reinforcement learning for large language models have converged on increasing complexity: multi-stage training pipelines, dynamic hyperparameter schedules, and curriculum learning strategies. This raises a fundamental question: \textbf{Is this complexity necessary?} We present \textbf{JustRL}, a minimal approach using single-stage training with fixed hyperparameters that achieves state-of-the-art performance on two 1.5B reasoning models (54.9\% and 64.3\% average accuracy across nine mathematical benchmarks) while using 2$\times$ less compute than sophisticated approaches. The same hyperparameters transfer across both models without tuning, and training exhibits smooth, monotonic improvement over 4,000+ steps without the collapses or plateaus that typically motivate interventions. Critically, ablations reveal that adding ``standard tricks'' like explicit length penalties and robust verifiers may degrade performance by collapsing exploration. These results suggest that the field may be adding complexity to solve problems that disappear with a stable, scaled-up baseline. We release our models and code to establish a simple, validated baseline for the community.

CPMobius: Iterative Coach-Player Reasoning for Data-Free Reinforcement LearningRan Li, Zeyuan Liu, Yinghao chen et al.
Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong potential in complex reasoning, yet their progress remains fundamentally constrained by reliance on massive high-quality human-curated tasks and labels, either through supervised fine-tuning (SFT) or reinforcement learning (RL) on reasoning-specific data. This dependence renders supervision-heavy training paradigms increasingly unsustainable, with signs of diminishing scalability already evident in practice. To overcome this limitation, we introduce CPMöbius (CPMobius), a collaborative Coach-Player paradigm for data-free reinforcement learning of reasoning models. Unlike traditional adversarial self-play, CPMöbius, inspired by real world human sports collaboration and multi-agent collaboration, treats the Coach and Player as independent but cooperative roles. The Coach proposes instructions targeted at the Player's capability and receives rewards based on changes in the Player's performance, while the Player is rewarded for solving the increasingly instructive tasks generated by the Coach. This cooperative optimization loop is designed to directly enhance the Player's mathematical reasoning ability. Remarkably, CPMöbius achieves substantial improvement without relying on any external training data, outperforming existing unsupervised approaches. For example, on Qwen2.5-Math-7B-Instruct, our method improves accuracy by an overall average of +4.9 and an out-of-distribution average of +5.4, exceeding RENT by +1.5 on overall accuracy and R-zero by +4.2 on OOD accuracy.

Kronecker-Structured Nonparametric Spatiotemporal Point ProcessesZhitong Xu, Qiwei Yuan, Yinghao Chen et al.
Events in spatiotemporal domains arise in numerous real-world applications, where uncovering event relationships and enabling accurate prediction are central challenges. Classical Poisson and Hawkes processes rely on restrictive parametric assumptions that limit their ability to capture complex interaction patterns, while recent neural point process models increase representational capacity but integrate event information in a black-box manner, hindering interpretable relationship discovery. To address these limitations, we propose a Kronecker-Structured Nonparametric Spatiotemporal Point Process (KSTPP) that enables transparent event-wise relationship discovery while retaining high modeling flexibility. We model the background intensity with a spatial Gaussian process (GP) and the influence kernel as a spatiotemporal GP, allowing rich interaction patterns including excitation, inhibition, neutrality, and time-varying effects. To enable scalable training and prediction, we adopt separable product kernels and represent the GPs on structured grids, inducing Kronecker-structured covariance matrices. Exploiting Kronecker algebra substantially reduces computational cost and allows the model to scale to large event collections. In addition, we develop a tensor-product Gauss-Legendre quadrature scheme to efficiently evaluate intractable likelihood integrals. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework.

Structured Neural Marked Point Processes for Interpretable Event Interaction ModelingZhitong Xu, Qiwei Yuan, Yinghao Chen et al.
Multi-class event streams arise in numerous real-world applications, where uncovering structured, interpretable inter-event relationships, together with accurate prediction, remains a central challenge. Existing neural point process models are highly expressive but encode event interactions in a black-box manner, preventing explicit discovery of structured dependencies. In this paper, we propose a structured neural marked point process (SNMPP) that achieves high modeling flexibility while enabling explicit event-wise and class-wise relationship discovery from data. Our model constructs a product-form neural influence kernel composed of a signed interaction network over event types and a delay-aware monotonic temporal network. This design enables explicit characterization of inter-class influence topology -- including excitation, inhibition, and neutrality -- while flexibly capturing diverse temporal decay patterns and potential influence delays. For efficient learning, we develop a stratified Monte Carlo estimator for stochastic training. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world benchmark datasets validate the ability of our approach to uncover structured relationships and deliver strong predictive performance.

OS-MAP: How Far Can Computer-Using Agents Go in Breadth and Depth?Xuetian Chen, Yinghao Chen, Xinfeng Yuan et al.
Computer-using agents have shown strong potential to boost human productivity and enable new application forms across platforms. While recent advances have led to usable applications, existing benchmarks fail to account for the internal task heterogeneity and the corresponding agent capabilities, as well as their alignment with actual user demands-hindering both targeted capability development and the reliable transition of research progress into practical deployment. To bridge the gap, we present OS-MAP, a benchmark for daily computer-using automation that organizes its 416 realistic tasks across 15 applications along two key dimensions: a five-level taxonomy of automation and a generalization scope derived from a real-world user demand hierarchy. To enable fine-grained analysis of required capabilities and alignment with real-world scenarios, OS-MAP evaluates agents along two dimensions: automation level across a five-level taxonomy, and generalization scope across a demand hierarchy. This design captures varying levels of required agent autonomy and generalization, forming a performance-generalization evaluation matrix for structured and comprehensive assessment. Experiments show that even State-of-the-Art agents with VLM backbones struggle with higher-level tasks involving perception, reasoning, and coordination-highlighting the need for a deeper understanding of current strengths and limitations to drive the future progress in computer-using agents research and deployment. Adaptive Markup Language Generation for Contextually-Grounded Visual Document UnderstandingHan Xiao, Yina Xie, Guanxin Tan et al.
Visual Document Understanding has become essential with the increase of text-rich visual content. This field poses significant challenges due to the need for effective integration of visual perception and textual comprehension, particularly across diverse document types with complex layouts. Moreover, existing fine-tuning datasets for this domain often fall short in providing the detailed contextual information for robust understanding, leading to hallucinations and limited comprehension of spatial relationships among visual elements. To address these challenges, we propose an innovative pipeline that utilizes adaptive generation of markup languages, such as Markdown, JSON, HTML, and TiKZ, to build highly structured document representations and deliver contextually-grounded responses. We introduce two fine-grained structured datasets: DocMark-Pile, comprising approximately 3.8M pretraining data pairs for document parsing, and DocMark-Instruct, featuring 624k fine-tuning data annotations for grounded instruction following. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed model significantly outperforms existing state-of-theart MLLMs across a range of visual document understanding benchmarks, facilitating advanced reasoning and comprehension capabilities in complex visual scenarios. Universal Image Restoration Pre-training via Masked Degradation ClassificationJiaKui Hu, Zhengjian Yao, Lujia Jin et al.
This study introduces a Masked Degradation Classification Pre-Training method (MaskDCPT), designed to facilitate the classification of degradation types in input images, leading to comprehensive image restoration pre-training. Unlike conventional pre-training methods, MaskDCPT uses the degradation type of the image as an extremely weak supervision, while simultaneously leveraging the image reconstruction to enhance performance and robustness. MaskDCPT includes an encoder and two decoders: the encoder extracts features from the masked low-quality input image. The classification decoder uses these features to identify the degradation type, whereas the reconstruction decoder aims to reconstruct a corresponding high-quality image. This design allows the pre-training to benefit from both masked image modeling and contrastive learning, resulting in a generalized representation suited for restoration tasks. Benefit from the straightforward yet potent MaskDCPT, the pre-trained encoder can be used to address universal image restoration and achieve outstanding performance. Implementing MaskDCPT significantly improves performance for both convolution neural networks (CNNs) and Transformers, with a minimum increase in PSNR of 3.77 dB in the 5D all-in-one restoration task and a 34.8% reduction in PIQE compared to baseline in real-world degradation scenarios. It also emergences strong generalization to previously unseen degradation types and levels. In addition, we curate and release the UIR-2.5M dataset, which includes 2.5 million paired restoration samples across 19 degradation types and over 200 degradation levels, incorporating both synthetic and real-world data. BlueLM-V-3B: Algorithm and System Co-Design for Multimodal Large Language Models on Mobile DevicesXudong Lu, Yinghao Chen, Cheng Chen et al.
The emergence and growing popularity of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have significant potential to enhance various aspects of daily life, from improving communication to facilitating learning and problem-solving. Mobile phones, as essential daily companions, represent the most effective and accessible deployment platform for MLLMs, enabling seamless integration into everyday tasks. However, deploying MLLMs on mobile phones presents challenges due to limitations in memory size and computational capability, making it difficult to achieve smooth and real-time processing without extensive optimization. In this paper, we present BlueLM-V-3B, an algorithm and system co-design approach specifically tailored for the efficient deployment of MLLMs on mobile platforms. To be specific, we redesign the dynamic resolution scheme adopted by mainstream MLLMs and implement system optimization for hardware-aware deployment to optimize model inference on mobile phones. BlueLM-V-3B boasts the following key highlights: (1) Small Size: BlueLM-V-3B features a language model with 2.7B parameters and a vision encoder with 400M parameters. (2) Fast Speed: BlueLM-V-3B achieves a generation speed of 24.4 token/s on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor with 4-bit LLM weight quantization. (3) Strong Performance: BlueLM-V-3B has attained the highest average score of 66.1 on the OpenCompass benchmark among models with $\leq$ 4B parameters and surpassed a series of models with much larger parameter sizes (e.g., MiniCPM-V-2.6, InternVL2-8B).

Unpaired Image Deraining Using Reward-Guided Self-Reinforcement StrategyYinghao Chen, Yeying Jin, Xiang Chen et al.
Unsupervised deraining has attracted attention for its ability to learn the real-world distribution of rain without paired supervision. However, the lack of strong constraints makes it difficult for the network to converge, especially with the complex diversity of rain degradation. A key motivation is that high-quality deraining results occasionally emerge during training, which can be leveraged to guide the optimization process. To overcome these challenges, we introduce RGSUD (Reward-Guided Self-Reinforcement Unsupervised Image Deraining), comprising two key stages: reward recycling and self-reinforcement (SR) training. For the former stage, we propose an Image Quality Assessment (IQA)-based dynamic reward recycling mechanism that selects optimal derained outputs during training and continuously collects high-quality deraining images. In latter stage, we incorporate these rewards into the model's optimization process, constraining the optimization space and improving alignment between derained outputs and clean images. By leveraging IQA-based self-reinforced loss and dynamically updated rewards, we enhance the quality of synthesized pseudo-paired data and stabilize the optimization. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves SOTA performance across multiple datasets, including paired synthetic, paired real, and unpaired real images, outperforming existing unsupervised deraining approaches in both subjective and objective IQA metrics. Additionally, we show that the self-reinforcement strategy is adaptable to other unsupervised deraining methods and our deraining framework demonstrates strong generalization across existing supervised deraining networks.

We present BlueLM-2.5-3B, a compact and unified dense Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) designed for efficient edge-device deployment, offering strong general-purpose and reasoning capabilities. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first 3B-scale MLLM to support both thinking and non-thinking modes, while also enabling explicit control over thinking token budget. BlueLM-2.5-3B is developed through diversified data curation, key data resampling, hybrid heterogeneous reinforcement learning, and a high-performance training infrastructure. Our model achieves superior multimodal capacity while preserving competitive pure-text performance with only 2.9 billion parameters. We conduct comprehensive evaluations across a broad range of multimodal and text-only benchmarks. In thinking mode, BlueLM-2.5-3B achieves comparable performance to Qwen3-4B on text-only benchmarks, and trails the larger Kimi-VL-A3B-16B by only about 5% on average across multimodal evaluations. In non-thinking mode, it outperforms Qwen2.5-VL-3B on the majority of multimodal benchmarks. Additionally, BlueLM-2.5-3B exhibits exceptional data efficiency. All of the aforementioned performance is achieved with substantially less total training data than Qwen2.5-VL-3B and Qwen3-4B. We hope our work contributes to the advancement of high-performance, on-device MLLMs and provides meaningful insights to the research community.

Tensor Gaussian Processes: Efficient Solvers for Nonlinear PDEsQiwei Yuan, Zhitong Xu, Yinghao Chen et al.
Machine learning solvers for partial differential equations (PDEs) have attracted growing interest. However, most existing approaches, such as neural network solvers, rely on stochastic training, which is inefficient and typically requires a great many training epochs. Gaussian process (GP)/kernel-based solvers, while mathematical principled, suffer from scalability issues when handling large numbers of collocation points often needed for challenging or higher-dimensional PDEs. To overcome these limitations, we propose TGPS, a tensor-GP-based solver that models factor functions along each input dimension using one-dimensional GPs and combines them via tensor decomposition to approximate the full solution. This design reduces the task to learning a collection of one-dimensional GPs, substantially lowering computational complexity, and enabling scalability to massive collocation sets. For efficient nonlinear PDE solving, we use a partial freezing strategy and Newton's method to linerize the nonlinear terms. We then develop an alternating least squares (ALS) approach that admits closed-form updates, thereby substantially enhancing the training efficiency. We establish theoretical guarantees on the expressivity of our model, together with convergence proof and error analysis under standard regularity assumptions. Experiments on several benchmark PDEs demonstrate that our method achieves superior accuracy and efficiency compared to existing approaches.

GenieBlue: Integrating both Linguistic and Multimodal Capabilities for Large Language Models on Mobile DevicesXudong Lu, Yinghao Chen, Renshou Wu et al.
Recent advancements in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have enabled their deployment on mobile devices. However, challenges persist in maintaining strong language capabilities and ensuring hardware compatibility, both of which are crucial for user experience and practical deployment efficiency. In our deployment process, we observe that existing MLLMs often face performance degradation on pure language tasks, and the current NPU platforms on smartphones do not support the MoE architecture, which is commonly used to preserve pure language capabilities during multimodal training. To address these issues, we systematically analyze methods to maintain pure language capabilities during the training of MLLMs, focusing on both training data and model architecture aspects. Based on these analyses, we propose GenieBlue, an efficient MLLM structural design that integrates both linguistic and multimodal capabilities for LLMs on mobile devices. GenieBlue freezes the original LLM parameters during MLLM training to maintain pure language capabilities. It acquires multimodal capabilities by duplicating specific transformer blocks for full fine-tuning and integrating lightweight LoRA modules. This approach preserves language capabilities while achieving comparable multimodal performance through extensive training. Deployed on smartphone NPUs, GenieBlue demonstrates efficiency and practicality for applications on mobile devices.

DADIN: Domain Adversarial Deep Interest Network for Cross Domain Recommender SystemsMenglin Kong, Muzhou Hou, Shaojie Zhao et al.
Click-Through Rate (CTR) prediction is one of the main tasks of the recommendation system, which is conducted by a user for different items to give the recommendation results. Cross-domain CTR prediction models have been proposed to overcome problems of data sparsity, long tail distribution of user-item interactions, and cold start of items or users. In order to make knowledge transfer from source domain to target domain more smoothly, an innovative deep learning cross-domain CTR prediction model, Domain Adversarial Deep Interest Network (DADIN) is proposed to convert the cross-domain recommendation task into a domain adaptation problem. The joint distribution alignment of two domains is innovatively realized by introducing domain agnostic layers and specially designed loss, and optimized together with CTR prediction loss in a way of adversarial training. It is found that the Area Under Curve (AUC) of DADIN is 0.08% higher than the most competitive baseline on Huawei dataset and is 0.71% higher than its competitors on Amazon dataset, achieving the state-of-the-art results on the basis of the evaluation of this model performance on two real datasets. The ablation study shows that by introducing adversarial method, this model has respectively led to the AUC improvements of 2.34% on Huawei dataset and 16.67% on Amazon dataset.

Cross-domain error minimization for unsupervised domain adaptationYuntao Du, Yinghao Chen, Fengli Cui et al.
Unsupervised domain adaptation aims to transfer knowledge from a labeled source domain to an unlabeled target domain. Previous methods focus on learning domain-invariant features to decrease the discrepancy between the feature distributions as well as minimizing the source error and have made remarkable progress. However, a recently proposed theory reveals that such a strategy is not sufficient for a successful domain adaptation. It shows that besides a small source error, both the discrepancy between the feature distributions and the discrepancy between the labeling functions should be small across domains. The discrepancy between the labeling functions is essentially the cross-domain errors which are ignored by existing methods. To overcome this issue, in this paper, a novel method is proposed to integrate all the objectives into a unified optimization framework. Moreover, the incorrect pseudo labels widely used in previous methods can lead to error accumulation during learning. To alleviate this problem, the pseudo labels are obtained by utilizing structural information of the target domain besides source classifier and we propose a curriculum learning based strategy to select the target samples with more accurate pseudo-labels during training. Comprehensive experiments are conducted, and the results validate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods.
