[COMP25] The Automated Negotiating Agents Competition (ANAC) 2025 Challenges and ResultsReyhan Aydoğan, Tim Baarslag, Tamara C. P. Florijn et al.
This paper presents the primary research challenges and key findings from the 15th International Automated Negotiating Agents Competition (ANAC 2025), one of the official competitions of IJCAI 2025. We focus on two critical domains: multi-deal negotiations and the development of agents capable of concurrent negotiation within complex supply chain management environments. Furthermore, this work analyzes the results of the competition and outlines strategic directions for future iterations.

AOAD-MAT: Transformer-based multi-agent deep reinforcement learning model considering agents' order of action decisionsShota Takayama, Katsuhide Fujita
Multi-agent reinforcement learning focuses on training the behaviors of multiple learning agents that coexist in a shared environment. Recently, MARL models, such as the Multi-Agent Transformer (MAT) and ACtion dEpendent deep Q-learning (ACE), have significantly improved performance by leveraging sequential decision-making processes. Although these models can enhance performance, they do not explicitly consider the importance of the order in which agents make decisions. In this paper, we propose an Agent Order of Action Decisions-MAT (AOAD-MAT), a novel MAT model that considers the order in which agents make decisions. The proposed model explicitly incorporates the sequence of action decisions into the learning process, allowing the model to learn and predict the optimal order of agent actions. The AOAD-MAT model leverages a Transformer-based actor-critic architecture that dynamically adjusts the sequence of agent actions. To achieve this, we introduce a novel MARL architecture that cooperates with a subtask focused on predicting the next agent to act, integrated into a Proximal Policy Optimization based loss function to synergistically maximize the advantage of the sequential decision-making. The proposed method was validated through extensive experiments on the StarCraft Multi-Agent Challenge and Multi-Agent MuJoCo benchmarks. The experimental results show that the proposed AOAD-MAT model outperforms existing MAT and other baseline models, demonstrating the effectiveness of adjusting the AOAD order in MARL.

End-to-End Argument Mining for Discussion Threads Based on Parallel Constrained Pointer ArchitectureGaku Morio, Katsuhide Fujita
Argument Mining (AM) is a relatively recent discipline, which concentrates on extracting claims or premises from discourses, and inferring their structures. However, many existing works do not consider micro-level AM studies on discussion threads sufficiently. In this paper, we tackle AM for discussion threads. Our main contributions are follows: (1) A novel combination scheme focusing on micro-level inner- and inter- post schemes for a discussion thread. (2) Annotation of large-scale civic discussion threads with the scheme. (3) Parallel constrained pointer architecture (PCPA), a novel end-to-end technique to discriminate sentence types, inner-post relations, and inter-post interactions simultaneously. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model shows better accuracy in terms of relations extraction, in comparison to existing state-of-the-art models.
