Towards Chapter-to-Chapter Context-Aware Literary Translation via Large Language ModelsLinghao Jin, Li An, Xuezhe Ma
Discourse phenomena in existing document-level translation datasets are sparse, which has been a fundamental obstacle in the development of context-aware machine translation models. Moreover, most existing document-level corpora and context-aware machine translation methods rely on an unrealistic assumption on sentence-level alignments. To mitigate these issues, we first curate a novel dataset of Chinese-English literature, which consists of 160 books with intricate discourse structures. Then, we propose a more pragmatic and challenging setting for context-aware translation, termed chapter-to-chapter (Ch2Ch) translation, and investigate the performance of commonly-used machine translation models under this setting. Furthermore, we introduce a potential approach of finetuning large language models (LLMs) within the domain of Ch2Ch literary translation, yielding impressive improvements over baselines. Through our comprehensive analysis, we unveil that literary translation under the Ch2Ch setting is challenging in nature, with respect to both model learning methods and translation decoding algorithms.

GenPC: Zero-shot Point Cloud Completion via 3D Generative PriorsAn Li, Zhe Zhu, Mingqiang Wei
Existing point cloud completion methods, which typically depend on predefined synthetic training datasets, encounter significant challenges when applied to out-of-distribution, real-world scans. To overcome this limitation, we introduce a zero-shot completion framework, termed GenPC, designed to reconstruct high-quality real-world scans by leveraging explicit 3D generative priors. Our key insight is that recent feed-forward 3D generative models, trained on extensive internet-scale data, have demonstrated the ability to perform 3D generation from single-view images in a zero-shot setting. To harness this for completion, we first develop a Depth Prompting module that links partial point clouds with image-to-3D generative models by leveraging depth images as a stepping stone. To retain the original partial structure in the final results, we design the Geometric Preserving Fusion module that aligns the generated shape with input by adaptively adjusting its pose and scale. Extensive experiments on widely used benchmarks validate the superiority and generalizability of our approach, bringing us a step closer to robust real-world scan completion.

EvolMathEval: Towards Evolvable Benchmarks for Mathematical Reasoning via Evolutionary TestingShengbo Wang, Mingwei Liu, Zike Li et al.
The rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) poses a significant challenge to existing mathematical reasoning benchmarks. However, these benchmarks tend to become easier over time as LLMs can learn from the published benchmarks. This limitation hinder the precise evaluation of the true capabilities of SOTA models. To address this challenge, this paper introduces EvolMathEval, an automated mathematical benchmark generation and evolution framework based on evolutionary testing. Experimental results demonstrate that EvolMathEval can not only generate a large volume of high-difficulty problems through continuous self-iteration, but it can also significantly enhance the complexity of public datasets like GSM8K through evolution, reducing model accuracy by an average of 48\%. Deeper investigation reveals that when solving these evolved problems, LLMs tend to bypass complex multi-step logical reasoning by relying on simplistic and fuzzy conditions, consequently leading to incorrect solutions. We define this phenomenon as the ``Pseudo Aha Moment", which we find accounts for 77\% to 100\% of errors on targeted problems.
