Remote Sensing Cross-Modal Text-Image Retrieval Based on Global and Local InformationZhiqiang Yuan, Wenkai Zhang, Changyuan Tian et al.
Cross-modal remote sensing text-image retrieval (RSCTIR) has recently become an urgent research hotspot due to its ability of enabling fast and flexible information extraction on remote sensing (RS) images. However, current RSCTIR methods mainly focus on global features of RS images, which leads to the neglect of local features that reflect target relationships and saliency. In this article, we first propose a novel RSCTIR framework based on global and local information (GaLR), and design a multi-level information dynamic fusion (MIDF) module to efficaciously integrate features of different levels. MIDF leverages local information to correct global information, utilizes global information to supplement local information, and uses the dynamic addition of the two to generate prominent visual representation. To alleviate the pressure of the redundant targets on the graph convolution network (GCN) and to improve the model s attention on salient instances during modeling local features, the de-noised representation matrix and the enhanced adjacency matrix (DREA) are devised to assist GCN in producing superior local representations. DREA not only filters out redundant features with high similarity, but also obtains more powerful local features by enhancing the features of prominent objects. Finally, to make full use of the information in the similarity matrix during inference, we come up with a plug-and-play multivariate rerank (MR) algorithm. The algorithm utilizes the k nearest neighbors of the retrieval results to perform a reverse search, and improves the performance by combining multiple components of bidirectional retrieval. Extensive experiments on public datasets strongly demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance of GaLR methods on the RSCTIR task. Learning to Evaluate Performance of Multi-modal Semantic LocalizationZhiqiang Yuan, Wenkai Zhang, Chongyang Li et al.
Semantic localization (SeLo) refers to the task of obtaining the most relevant locations in large-scale remote sensing (RS) images using semantic information such as text. As an emerging task based on cross-modal retrieval, SeLo achieves semantic-level retrieval with only caption-level annotation, which demonstrates its great potential in unifying downstream tasks. Although SeLo has been carried out successively, but there is currently no work has systematically explores and analyzes this urgent direction. In this paper, we thoroughly study this field and provide a complete benchmark in terms of metrics and testdata to advance the SeLo task. Firstly, based on the characteristics of this task, we propose multiple discriminative evaluation metrics to quantify the performance of the SeLo task. The devised significant area proportion, attention shift distance, and discrete attention distance are utilized to evaluate the generated SeLo map from pixel-level and region-level. Next, to provide standard evaluation data for the SeLo task, we contribute a diverse, multi-semantic, multi-objective Semantic Localization Testset (AIR-SLT). AIR-SLT consists of 22 large-scale RS images and 59 test cases with different semantics, which aims to provide a comprehensive evaluations for retrieval models. Finally, we analyze the SeLo performance of RS cross-modal retrieval models in detail, explore the impact of different variables on this task, and provide a complete benchmark for the SeLo task. We have also established a new paradigm for RS referring expression comprehension, and demonstrated the great advantage of SeLo in semantics through combining it with tasks such as detection and road extraction. Evaluating Instruction-Tuned Large Language Models on Code Comprehension and GenerationZhiqiang Yuan, Junwei Liu, Qiancheng Zi et al.
In this work, we evaluate 10 open-source instructed LLMs on four representative code comprehension and generation tasks. We have the following main findings. First, for the zero-shot setting, instructed LLMs are very competitive on code comprehension and generation tasks and sometimes even better than small SOTA models specifically fine-tuned on each downstream task. We also find that larger instructed LLMs are not always better on code-related tasks. Second, for the few-shot setting, we find that adding demonstration examples substantially helps instructed LLMs perform better on most code comprehension and generation tasks; however, the examples would sometimes induce unstable or even worse performance. Furthermore, we find widely-used BM25-based shot selection strategy significantly outperforms the basic random selection or fixed selection only on generation problems. Third, for the fine-tuning setting, we find that fine-tuning could further improve the model performance on downstream code comprehension and generation tasks compared to the zero-shot/one-shot performance. In addition, after being fine-tuned on the same downstream task dataset, instructed LLMs outperform both the small SOTA models and similar-scaled LLMs without instruction tuning. Based on our findings, we further present practical implications on model and usage recommendation, performance and cost trade-offs, and future direction.

Exploring a Fine-Grained Multiscale Method for Cross-Modal Remote Sensing Image RetrievalZhiqiang Yuan, Wenkai Zhang, Kun Fu et al.
Remote sensing (RS) cross-modal text-image retrieval has attracted extensive attention for its advantages of flexible input and efficient query. However, traditional methods ignore the characteristics of multi-scale and redundant targets in RS image, leading to the degradation of retrieval accuracy. To cope with the problem of multi-scale scarcity and target redundancy in RS multimodal retrieval task, we come up with a novel asymmetric multimodal feature matching network (AMFMN). Our model adapts to multi-scale feature inputs, favors multi-source retrieval methods, and can dynamically filter redundant features. AMFMN employs the multi-scale visual self-attention (MVSA) module to extract the salient features of RS image and utilizes visual features to guide the text representation. Furthermore, to alleviate the positive samples ambiguity caused by the strong intraclass similarity in RS image, we propose a triplet loss function with dynamic variable margin based on prior similarity of sample pairs. Finally, unlike the traditional RS image-text dataset with coarse text and higher intraclass similarity, we construct a fine-grained and more challenging Remote sensing Image-Text Match dataset (RSITMD), which supports RS image retrieval through keywords and sentence separately and jointly. Experiments on four RS text-image datasets demonstrate that the proposed model can achieve state-of-the-art performance in cross-modal RS text-image retrieval task.

Frequency Compensated Diffusion Model for Real-scene DehazingJing Wang, Songtao Wu, Kuanhong Xu et al.
Due to distribution shift, deep learning based methods for image dehazing suffer from performance degradation when applied to real-world hazy images. In this paper, we consider a dehazing framework based on conditional diffusion models for improved generalization to real haze. First, we find that optimizing the training objective of diffusion models, i.e., Gaussian noise vectors, is non-trivial. The spectral bias of deep networks hinders the higher frequency modes in Gaussian vectors from being learned and hence impairs the reconstruction of image details. To tackle this issue, we design a network unit, named Frequency Compensation block (FCB), with a bank of filters that jointly emphasize the mid-to-high frequencies of an input signal. We demonstrate that diffusion models with FCB achieve significant gains in both perceptual and distortion metrics. Second, to further boost the generalization performance, we propose a novel data synthesis pipeline, HazeAug, to augment haze in terms of degree and diversity. Within the framework, a solid baseline for blind dehazing is set up where models are trained on synthetic hazy-clean pairs, and directly generalize to real data. Extensive evaluations show that the proposed dehazing diffusion model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on real-world images. Fine-grained Fragment Retrieval in Multi-modal Long-form DialoguesHanbo Bi, Zhiqiang Yuan, Chongyang Li et al.
With the widespread adoption of multi-modal communication platforms, long-form dialogues interleaving text and images have become increasingly common. Users often need to retrieve coherent dialogue fragments related to specific topics, rather than isolated utterances. We propose Fine-grained Fragment Retrieval (FFR), which locates semantically relevant multi-utterance, multi-image fragments in multi-modal long-form dialogues. We explore two settings: (1) FFR within Single-Dialogue, retrieving fragments from a given dialogue; and (2) FFR within Dialogue Corpus, retrieving from a large-scale corpus for open-domain scenarios. For (1), we introduce F2RVLM, a generation-based retrieval model trained with reinforcement learning, using multi-objective rewards and difficulty-aware curriculum sampling to enhance fragment coherence. For (2), we develop FFRS, a two-stage system combining offline fragment-level indexing with online retrieval. Specifically, each dialogue is decomposed into minimal semantic fragments encoded by a Fragment Embedding Model (FEM) into a vector database; at inference, FEM rapidly recalls Top-K candidates, and F2RVLM performs fine-grained reasoning to identify the most relevant sub-content. To support FFR, we construct MLDR, the longest multi-modal dialogue retrieval dataset to date, and a WeChat-based real-world test set. Experiments on both benchmarks demonstrate that F2RVLM and FFRS consistently achieve superior performance across single-dialogue and corpus-level FFR.

PhotoCraft: Agentic Reasoning with Hierarchical Self-Evolving Memory for Deep Image SearchKailin Lyu, Zhiqiang Yuan, Jianwei He et al.
Deep Image Search requires multi-step reasoning over rich contextual cues, such as time, location, and event relations. However, most existing LLM-based agents are stateless and reactive, lacking persistent memory to maintain long-horizon context or transfer experience across tasks, which often leads to execution drift and experience isolation. To address these limitations, we propose PhotoCraft, a training-free, hierarchical memory system for photo-search agents. Inspired by human cognition, PhotoCraft equips MLLMs with working, episodic, and semantic memory, which are dynamically invoked during reasoning to preserve logical consistency and knowledge transferability throughout multi-step reasoning and answer generation. Extensive experiments on DISBench demonstrate that PhotoCraft consistently improves context-aware retrieval across diverse MLLM backbones, achieving gains of up to 18.5\% and effectively mitigating key bottlenecks in memoryless deep image search, offering a practical path toward reliable and generalizable multimodal search agents.

Bidirectional Feature Globalization for Few-shot Semantic Segmentation of 3D Point Cloud ScenesYongqiang Mao, Zonghao Guo, Xiaonan Lu et al.
Few-shot segmentation of point cloud remains a challenging task, as there is no effective way to convert local point cloud information to global representation, which hinders the generalization ability of point features. In this study, we propose a bidirectional feature globalization (BFG) approach, which leverages the similarity measurement between point features and prototype vectors to embed global perception to local point features in a bidirectional fashion. With point-to-prototype globalization (Po2PrG), BFG aggregates local point features to prototypes according to similarity weights from dense point features to sparse prototypes. With prototype-to-point globalization (Pr2PoG), the global perception is embedded to local point features based on similarity weights from sparse prototypes to dense point features. The sparse prototypes of each class embedded with global perception are summarized to a single prototype for few-shot 3D segmentation based on the metric learning framework. Extensive experiments on S3DIS and ScanNet demonstrate that BFG significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.

Semantic Alignment-Enhanced Code Translation via an LLM-Based Multi-Agent SystemZhiqiang Yuan, Weitong Chen, Hanlin Wang et al.
Code translation converts code from one programming language to another while maintaining its original functionality, which is crucial for software migration, system refactoring, and cross-platform development. Traditional rule-based methods rely on manually-written rules, which can be time-consuming and often result in less readable code. To overcome this, learning-based methods have been developed, leveraging parallel data to train models for automated code translation. More recently, the advance of Large Language Models (LLMs) further boosts learning-based code translation. Although promising, LLM-translated program still suffers from diverse quality issues (e.g., syntax errors and semantic errors). In particular, it can be challenging for LLMs to self-debug these errors when simply provided with the corresponding error messages. In this work, we propose a novel LLM-based multi-agent system TRANSAGENT, which enhances LLM-based code translation by fixing the syntax errors and semantic errors with the synergy between four LLM-based agents, including Initial Code Translator, Syntax Error Fixer, Code Aligner, and Semantic Error Fixer. The main insight of TRANSAGENT is to first localize the error code block in the target program based on the execution alignment between the target and source program, which can narrow down the fixing space and thus lower down the fixing difficulties. To evaluate TRANSAGENT, we first construct a new benchmark from recent programming tasks to mitigate the potential data leakage issue. On our benchmark, TRANSAGENT outperforms the latest LLM-based code translation technique UniTrans in both translation effectiveness and efficiency; additionally, our evaluation on different LLMs show the generalization of TRANSAGENT and our ablation study shows the contribution of each agent.

CoDA: Color Distribution Probing for Efficient and Generalizable AI-Generated Image DetectionZexi Jia, Zhiqiang Yuan, Xiaoyue Duan et al.
AI-generated image detection faces a persistent trade-off between generalization and efficiency: lightweight artifact-based methods often degrade on unseen generators or domains, whereas more robust large-scale models are computationally expensive. Meanwhile, existing benchmarks mainly focus on cross-model evaluation in photorealistic settings, leaving cross-domain robustness underexplored. To address this gap, we introduce FakeForm, a large-scale benchmark with approximately 370,000 images across 62 diverse domains for both cross-model and cross-domain evaluation. Motivated by this broader setting, we revisit color-distribution probing as an efficient complementary cue for AI-generated image detection. We observe that, especially for photographic content, real photographs tend to exhibit smoother and more stable color patterns, whereas synthetic images often show characteristic color imbalances introduced by neural generation. Based on this observation, we propose CoDA, a compact 1.48M-parameter detector built on a Noise-Quantization Probe, together with a theoretical analysis linking probe responses to color non-uniformity. Experiments show that CoDA achieves state-of-the-art performance on standard benchmarks and the best results on the challenging cross-domain evaluation of FakeForm, while remaining highly competitive in cross-model photorealistic settings. These results suggest that persistent generative artifacts can provide a practical foundation for efficient and robust AI-generated image detection. Multi-Target Flexible Angular Emulation for ISAC Base Station Testing Using a Conductive Amplitude and Phase Matrix Setup: Framework and Experimental ValidationChunhui Li, Chengrui Wang, Zhiqiang Yuan et al.
Comprehensive evaluation of the functionalities, algorithms, hardware components, and performance characteristics of future integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) base stations (BSs) under realistic deployment scenarios in controlled laboratory environments represents a critical requirement for ISAC technology advancement. A primary challenge in achieving this objective involves the emulation of multiple targets with arbitrary radar cross-section (RCS), range, angle, and Doppler profiles for ISAC BS equipped with large-scale antenna arrays using radar target simulator (RTS) with limited interface ports. In this work, we introduce a simple yet highly effective and practical conductive amplitude and phase matrix framework to address this fundamental challenge. The core concept involves introducing a tunable conductive amplitude and phase modulation network in the test configuration between the ISAC BS under test and a RTS. Based on this structure, we subsequently investigate the corresponding configurations for different sensing operational modes of ISAC BSs, specifically the array duplex transmission and reception (ADTR) mode and the split-array transmission and reception (SATR) mode. For experimental validation, we design two distinct monostatic sensing scenarios to demonstrate the framework capabilities across both operational modes. The first scenario involves dynamic multi-drone sensing validation for ADTR mode operation, while the second scenario addresses static single-drone sensing for SATR mode validation. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework can accurately emulate the joint RCS, range, velocity, and angular characteristics of multiple sensing targets within the conductive test environment, highlighting its significant potential for testing applications in sub-6 GHz ISAC BS development and validation.

ILDiff: Generate Transparent Animated Stickers by Implicit Layout DistillationTing Zhang, Zhiqiang Yuan, Yeshuang Zhu et al.
High-quality animated stickers usually contain transparent channels, which are often ignored by current video generation models. To generate fine-grained animated transparency channels, existing methods can be roughly divided into video matting algorithms and diffusion-based algorithms. The methods based on video matting have poor performance in dealing with semi-open areas in stickers, while diffusion-based methods are often used to model a single image, which will lead to local flicker when modeling animated stickers. In this paper, we firstly propose an ILDiff method to generate animated transparent channels through implicit layout distillation, which solves the problems of semi-open area collapse and no consideration of temporal information in existing methods. Secondly, we create the Transparent Animated Sticker Dataset (TASD), which contains 0.32M high-quality samples with transparent channel, to provide data support for related fields. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ILDiff can produce finer and smoother transparent channels compared to other methods such as Matting Anything and Layer Diffusion. WalkVLM:Aid Visually Impaired People Walking by Vision Language ModelZhiqiang Yuan, Ting Zhang, Ying Deng et al.
Approximately 200 million individuals around the world suffer from varying degrees of visual impairment, making it crucial to leverage AI technology to offer walking assistance for these people. With the recent progress of vision-language models (VLMs), applying VLMs to offer walking guidance has become popular. However, the existing methods of walking guidance are mainly based on self-curated question-answering datasets that are not publicly accessible, without a standardized benchmark for training or evaluation. Moreover, walking assistance often requires real-time streaming video analysis and the generation of concise yet informative reminders, making VLMs struggle due to excessive responses and low efficiency in inferences. In this paper, we introduce the first large-scale dataset dedicated to walking assistance, comprising 12,000 video-annotation pairs, to provide a unified benchmark for training and evaluating systems to help visually-impaired individuals walk. Furthermore, a WalkVLM model is proposed, which employs chain of thought for hierarchical planning to generate concise but informative reminders and utilizes temporal-aware adaptive prediction to reduce the temporal redundancy of reminders. Finally, we have established a solid benchmark for blind walking task and verified the advantages of WalkVLM in stream video processing for this task compared to other VLMs. Our dataset and code are available at https://walkvlm2024.github.io.

Semantic to Structure: Learning Structural Representations for Infringement DetectionChuanwei Huang, Zexi Jia, Hongyan Fei et al.
Structural information in images is crucial for aesthetic assessment, and it is widely recognized in the artistic field that imitating the structure of other works significantly infringes on creators' rights. The advancement of diffusion models has led to AI-generated content imitating artists' structural creations, yet effective detection methods are still lacking. In this paper, we define this phenomenon as "structural infringement" and propose a corresponding detection method. Additionally, we develop quantitative metrics and create manually annotated datasets for evaluation: the SIA dataset of synthesized data, and the SIR dataset of real data. Due to the current lack of datasets for structural infringement detection, we propose a new data synthesis strategy based on diffusion models and LLM, successfully training a structural infringement detection model. Experimental results show that our method can successfully detect structural infringements and achieve notable improvements on annotated test sets.

Does Pass Rate Tell the Whole Story? Evaluating Design Constraint Compliance in LLM-based Issue ResolutionKai Yu, Zhenhao Zhou, Junhao Zeng et al.
Repository-level issue resolution benchmarks have become a standard testbed for evaluating LLM-based agents, yet success is still predominantly measured by test pass rates. In practice, however, acceptable patches must also comply with project-specific design constraints, such as architectural conventions, error-handling policies, and maintainability requirements, which are rarely encoded in tests and are often documented only implicitly in code review discussions. This paper introduces \textit{design-aware issue resolution} and presents \bench{}, a benchmark that makes such implicit design constraints explicit and measurable. \bench{} is constructed by mining and validating design constraints from real-world pull requests, linking them to issue instances, and automatically checking patch compliance using an LLM-based verifier, yielding 495 issues and 1,787 validated constraints across six repositories, aligned with SWE-bench-Verified and SWE-bench-Pro. Experiments with state-of-the-art agents show that test-based correctness substantially overestimates patch quality: fewer than half of resolved issues are fully design-satisfying, design violations are widespread, and functional correctness exhibits negligible statistical association with design satisfaction. While providing issue-specific design guidance reduces violations, substantial non-compliance remains, highlighting a fundamental gap in current agent capabilities and motivating design-aware evaluation beyond functional correctness.

From Imitation to Innovation: The Emergence of AI Unique Artistic Styles and the Challenge of Copyright ProtectionZexi Jia, Chuanwei Huang, Yeshuang Zhu et al.
Current legal frameworks consider AI-generated works eligible for copyright protection when they meet originality requirements and involve substantial human intellectual input. However, systematic legal standards and reliable evaluation methods for AI art copyrights are lacking. Through comprehensive analysis of legal precedents, we establish three essential criteria for determining distinctive artistic style: stylistic consistency, creative uniqueness, and expressive accuracy. To address these challenges, we introduce ArtBulb, an interpretable and quantifiable framework for AI art copyright judgment that combines a novel style description-based multimodal clustering method with multimodal large language models (MLLMs). We also present AICD, the first benchmark dataset for AI art copyright annotated by artists and legal experts. Experimental results demonstrate that ArtBulb outperforms existing models in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Our work aims to bridge the gap between the legal and technological communities and bring greater attention to the societal issue of AI art copyrights.

A Visual Leap in CLIP Compositionality Reasoning through Generation of Counterfactual SetsZexi Jia, Chuanwei Huang, Hongyan Fei et al.
Vision-language models (VLMs) often struggle with compositional reasoning due to insufficient high-quality image-text data. To tackle this challenge, we propose a novel block-based diffusion approach that automatically generates counterfactual datasets without manual annotation. Our method utilizes large language models to identify entities and their spatial relationships. It then independently generates image blocks as "puzzle pieces" coherently arranged according to specified compositional rules. This process creates diverse, high-fidelity counterfactual image-text pairs with precisely controlled variations. In addition, we introduce a specialized loss function that differentiates inter-set from intra-set samples, enhancing training efficiency and reducing the need for negative samples. Experiments demonstrate that fine-tuning VLMs with our counterfactual datasets significantly improves visual reasoning performance. Our approach achieves state-of-the-art results across multiple benchmarks while using substantially less training data than existing methods.

RDTF: Resource-efficient Dual-mask Training Framework for Multi-frame Animated Sticker GenerationZhiqiang Yuan, Ting Zhang, Ying Deng et al.
Recently, great progress has been made in video generation technology, attracting the widespread attention of scholars. To apply this technology to downstream applications under resource-constrained conditions, researchers usually fine-tune the pre-trained models based on parameter-efficient tuning methods such as Adapter or Lora. Although these methods can transfer the knowledge from the source domain to the target domain, fewer training parameters lead to poor fitting ability, and the knowledge from the source domain may lead to the inference process deviating from the target domain. In this paper, we argue that under constrained resources, training a smaller video generation model from scratch using only million-level samples can outperform parameter-efficient tuning on larger models in downstream applications: the core lies in the effective utilization of data and curriculum strategy. Take animated sticker generation (ASG) as a case study, we first construct a discrete frame generation network for stickers with low frame rates, ensuring that its parameters meet the requirements of model training under constrained resources. In order to provide data support for models trained from scratch, we come up with a dual-mask based data utilization strategy, which manages to improve the availability and expand the diversity of limited data. To facilitate convergence under dual-mask situation, we propose a difficulty-adaptive curriculum learning method, which decomposes the sample entropy into static and adaptive components so as to obtain samples from easy to difficult. The experiment demonstrates that our resource-efficient dual-mask training framework is quantitatively and qualitatively superior to efficient-parameter tuning methods such as I2V-Adapter and SimDA, verifying the feasibility of our method on downstream tasks under constrained resources. Project-Level C-to-Rust Translation via Synergistic Integration of Knowledge Graphs and Large Language ModelsZhiqiang Yuan, Wenjun Mao, Zhuo Chen et al.
Translating C code into safe Rust is an effective way to ensure its memory safety. Compared to rule-based translation which produces Rust code that remains largely unsafe, LLM-based methods can generate more idiomatic and safer Rust code because LLMs have been trained on vast amount of human-written idiomatic code. Although promising, existing LLM-based methods still struggle with project-level C-to-Rust translation. They typically partition a C project into smaller units (\eg{} functions) based on call graphs and translate them bottom-up to resolve program dependencies. However, this bottom-up, unit-by-unit paradigm often fails to translate pointers due to the lack of a global perspective on their usage. To address this problem, we propose a novel C-Rust Pointer Knowledge Graph (KG) that enriches a code-dependency graph with two types of pointer semantics: (i) pointer-usage information which record global behaviors such as points-to flows and map lower-level struct usage to higher-level units; and (ii) Rust-oriented annotations which encode ownership, mutability, nullability, and lifetime. Synthesizing the \kg{} with LLMs, we further propose \ourtool{}, which implements a project-level C-to-Rust translation technique. In \ourtool{}, the \kg{} provides LLMs with comprehensive pointer semantics from a global perspective, thus guiding LLMs towards generating safe and idiomatic Rust code from a given C project. Our experiments show that \ourtool{} reduces unsafe usages in translated Rust by 99.9\% compared to both rule-based translation and traditional LLM-based rewriting, while achieving an average 29.3\% higher functional correctness than those fuzzing-enhanced LLM methods.

A Synthetic-to-Real Dehazing Method based on Domain UnificationZhiqiang Yuan, Jinchao Zhang, Jie Zhou
Due to distribution shift, the performance of deep learning-based method for image dehazing is adversely affected when applied to real-world hazy images. In this paper, we find that such deviation in dehazing task between real and synthetic domains may come from the imperfect collection of clean data. Owing to the complexity of the scene and the effect of depth, the collected clean data cannot strictly meet the ideal conditions, which makes the atmospheric physics model in the real domain inconsistent with that in the synthetic domain. For this reason, we come up with a synthetic-to-real dehazing method based on domain unification, which attempts to unify the relationship between the real and synthetic domain, thus to let the dehazing model more in line with the actual situation. Extensive experiments qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate that the proposed dehazing method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on real-world images.

F2RVLM: Boosting Fine-grained Fragment Retrieval for Multi-Modal Long-form Dialogue with Vision Language ModelHanbo Bi, Zhiqiang Yuan, Zexi Jia et al.
Traditional dialogue retrieval aims to select the most appropriate utterance or image from recent dialogue history. However, they often fail to meet users' actual needs for revisiting semantically coherent content scattered across long-form conversations. To fill this gap, we define the Fine-grained Fragment Retrieval (FFR) task, requiring models to locate query-relevant fragments, comprising both utterances and images, from multimodal long-form dialogues. As a foundation for FFR, we construct MLDR, the longest-turn multimodal dialogue retrieval dataset to date, averaging 25.45 turns per dialogue, with each naturally spanning three distinct topics. To evaluate generalization in real-world scenarios, we curate and annotate a WeChat-based test set comprising real-world multimodal dialogues with an average of 75.38 turns. Building on these resources, we explore existing generation-based Vision-Language Models (VLMs) on FFR and observe that they often retrieve incoherent utterance-image fragments. While optimized for generating responses from visual-textual inputs, these models lack explicit supervision to ensure semantic coherence within retrieved fragments. To this end, we propose F2RVLM, a generative retrieval model trained in a two-stage paradigm: (1) supervised fine-tuning to inject fragment-level retrieval knowledge, and (2) GRPO-based reinforcement learning with multi-objective rewards promoting semantic precision, relevance, and contextual coherence. To handle varying intra-fragment complexity, from locally dense to sparsely distributed, we introduce difficulty-aware curriculum sampling that ranks training instances by model-predicted difficulty and gradually exposes the model to harder samples. This boosts reasoning ability in long, multi-turn contexts. F2RVLM outperforms popular VLMs in both in-domain and real-domain settings, demonstrating superior retrieval performance.

Less Redundancy: Boosting Practicality of Vision Language Model in Walking AssistantsChongyang Li, Zhiqiang Yuan, Jiapei Zhang et al.
Approximately 283 million people worldwide live with visual impairments, motivating increasing research into leveraging Visual Language Models (VLMs) to develop effective walking assistance systems for blind and low vision individuals. However, existing VLMs in walking assistant task often have outputs that contain considerable redundancy and extraneous details, adversely affecting users' ability to accurately assess their surroundings. Moreover, these models typically lack the capability to proactively assess environmental risks and adaptively trigger reminders based on the appropriate scene, leading to excessive temporal redundancy. To mitigate output and temporal redundancy, we propose WalkVLM-LR, a walking assistance model with less redundancy. To reduce output redundancy, we introduce four human-preference-based custom reward functions within the GRPO-based reasoning framework to optimize the output in terms of conciseness, fluency, keyword density, and accuracy, thereby producing more informative and streamlined outputs. To minimize temporal redundancy, we incorporate an environment awareness discriminator, which shares the visual encoder with the VLMs to reduce redundant computations and enhance discriminative efficiency, to make WalkVLM-LR assess scene risk levels and minimize unnecessary reminders. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance across all evaluation metrics compared with other models, particularly in output conciseness and less temporal redundancy.

Control-CLIP: Decoupling Category and Style Guidance in CLIP for Specific-Domain GenerationZexi Jia, Chuanwei Huang, Hongyan Fei et al.
Text-to-image diffusion models have shown remarkable capabilities of generating high-quality images closely aligned with textual inputs. However, the effectiveness of text guidance heavily relies on the CLIP text encoder, which is trained to pay more attention to general content but struggles to capture semantics in specific domains like styles. As a result, generation models tend to fail on prompts like "a photo of a cat in Pokemon style" in terms of simply producing images depicting "a photo of a cat". To fill this gap, we propose Control-CLIP, a novel decoupled CLIP fine-tuning framework that enables the CLIP model to learn the meaning of category and style in a complement manner. With specially designed fine-tuning tasks on minimal data and a modified cross-attention mechanism, Control-CLIP can precisely guide the diffusion model to a specific domain. Moreover, the parameters of the diffusion model remain unchanged at all, preserving the original generation performance and diversity. Experiments across multiple domains confirm the effectiveness of our approach, particularly highlighting its robust plug-and-play capability in generating content with various specific styles.

Pixel Contrastive-Consistent Semi-Supervised Semantic SegmentationYuanyi Zhong, Bodi Yuan, Hong Wu et al.
We present a novel semi-supervised semantic segmentation method which jointly achieves two desiderata of segmentation model regularities: the label-space consistency property between image augmentations and the feature-space contrastive property among different pixels. We leverage the pixel-level L2 loss and the pixel contrastive loss for the two purposes respectively. To address the computational efficiency issue and the false negative noise issue involved in the pixel contrastive loss, we further introduce and investigate several negative sampling techniques. Extensive experiments demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance of our method (PC2Seg) with the DeepLab-v3+ architecture, in several challenging semi-supervised settings derived from the VOC, Cityscapes, and COCO datasets.

Semantically Robust Unpaired Image Translation for Data with Unmatched Semantics StatisticsZhiwei Jia, Bodi Yuan, Kangkang Wang et al.
Many applications of unpaired image-to-image translation require the input contents to be preserved semantically during translations. Unaware of the inherently unmatched semantics distributions between source and target domains, existing distribution matching methods (i.e., GAN-based) can give undesired solutions. In particular, although producing visually reasonable outputs, the learned models usually flip the semantics of the inputs. To tackle this without using extra supervision, we propose to enforce the translated outputs to be semantically invariant w.r.t. small perceptual variations of the inputs, a property we call "semantic robustness". By optimizing a robustness loss w.r.t. multi-scale feature space perturbations of the inputs, our method effectively reduces semantics flipping and produces translations that outperform existing methods both quantitatively and qualitatively.
