Exploring Large Language Models for Knowledge Graph Completion

Knowledge graphs play a vital role in numerous artificial intelligence tasks, yet they frequently face the issue of incompleteness. In this study, we explore utilizing Large Language Models (LLM) for knowledge graph completion. We consider triples in knowledge graphs as text sequences and introduce an innovative framework called Knowledge Graph LLM (KG-LLM) to model these triples. Our technique employs entity and relation descriptions of a triple as prompts and utilizes the response for predictions. Experiments on various benchmark knowledge graphs demonstrate that our method attains state-of-the-art performance in tasks such as triple classification and relation prediction. We also find that fine-tuning relatively smaller models (e.g., LLaMA-7B, ChatGLM-6B) outperforms recent ChatGPT and GPT-4.

Friend Ranking in Online Games via Pre-training Edge Transformers

Friend recall is an important way to improve Daily Active Users (DAU) in online games. The problem is to generate a proper lost friend ranking list essentially. Traditional friend recall methods focus on rules like friend intimacy or training a classifier for predicting lost players' return probability, but ignore feature information of (active) players and historical friend recall events. In this work, we treat friend recall as a link prediction problem and explore several link prediction methods which can use features of both active and lost players, as well as historical events. Furthermore, we propose a novel Edge Transformer model and pre-train the model via masked auto-encoders. Our method achieves state-of-the-art results in the offline experiments and online A/B Tests of three Tencent games.

AKI-BERT: a Pre-trained Clinical Language Model for Early Prediction of Acute Kidney Injury

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common clinical syndrome characterized by a sudden episode of kidney failure or kidney damage within a few hours or a few days. Accurate early prediction of AKI for patients in ICU who are more likely than others to have AKI can enable timely interventions, and reduce the complications of AKI. Much of the clinical information relevant to AKI is captured in clinical notes that are largely unstructured text and requires advanced natural language processing (NLP) for useful information extraction. On the other hand, pre-trained contextual language models such as Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) have improved performances for many NLP tasks in general domain recently. However, few have explored BERT on disease-specific medical domain tasks such as AKI early prediction. In this paper, we try to apply BERT to specific diseases and present an AKI domain-specific pre-trained language model based on BERT (AKI-BERT) that could be used to mine the clinical notes for early prediction of AKI. AKI-BERT is a BERT model pre-trained on the clinical notes of patients having risks for AKI. Our experiments on Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III) dataset demonstrate that AKI-BERT can yield performance improvements for early AKI prediction, thus expanding the utility of the BERT model from general clinical domain to disease-specific domain.

RemoteZero: Geospatial Reasoning with Zero Human Annotations

Geospatial reasoning requires models to resolve complex spatial semantics and user intent into precise target locations for Earth observation. Recent progress has liberated the reasoning path from manual curation, allowing models to generate their own inference chains. Yet a final dependency remains: they are still supervised by human-annotated ground-truth coordinates. This leaves the reasoning process autonomous, but not its spatial endpoint, and prevents true self-evolution on abundant unlabeled remote sensing data. To break this bottleneck, we introduce RemoteZero, a box-supervision-free framework for geospatial reasoning. RemoteZero is motivated by a simple asymmetry: an MLLM is typically better at verifying whether a region satisfies a query than at directly generating precise coordinates. Leveraging this stronger discriminative ability, RemoteZero replaces geometric supervision with intrinsic semantic verification and enables GRPO training without box annotations. The resulting framework further supports iterative self-evolution, allowing the model to improve from unlabeled remote sensing imagery through its own verification signal. Experiments show that RemoteZero achieves competitive performance against strong supervised methods, demonstrating the potential of self-verifying training for geospatial reasoning localization.

Domain-invariant Progressive Knowledge Distillation for UAV-based Object Detection

Knowledge distillation (KD) is an effective method for compressing models in object detection tasks. Due to limited computational capability, UAV-based object detection (UAV-OD) widely adopt the KD technique to obtain lightweight detectors. Existing methods often overlook the significant differences in feature space caused by the large gap in scale between the teacher and student models. This limitation hampers the efficiency of knowledge transfer during the distillation process. Furthermore, the complex backgrounds in UAV images make it challenging for the student model to efficiently learn the object features. In this paper, we propose a novel knowledge distillation framework for UAV-OD. Specifically, a progressive distillation approach is designed to alleviate the feature gap between teacher and student models. Then a new feature alignment method is provided to extract object-related features for enhancing student model's knowledge reception efficiency. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of our proposed approach. The results demonstrate that our proposed method achieves state-of-the-art (SoTA) performance in two UAV-OD datasets.

RemoteShield: Enable Robust Multimodal Large Language Models for Earth Observation

A robust Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) for Earth Observation should maintain consistent interpretation and reasoning under realistic input variations. However, current Remote Sensing MLLMs fail to meet this requirement. Trained on carefully curated clean datasets, they learn brittle mappings that do not generalize to noisy conditions in operational Earth Observation. Consequently, their performance degrades when confronted with imperfect inputs in deployment. To quantify this vulnerability, we construct a realistic set of multimodal perturbations, including visual degradations such as cloud and fog cover, together with diverse human-centric textual variations ranging from colloquialisms to vague or omitted instructions. Empirical evaluations show that these perturbations significantly impair the visual-semantic reasoning capabilities of leading RS foundation models. To address this limitation, we introduce RemoteShield, a robust Remote Sensing MLLM trained to maintain consistent outputs across realistic input variations. During training, each clean sample is paired with its image-text perturbed variants to form a semantic equivalence cluster. Rather than directly fitting noisy samples, RemoteShield is optimized through preference learning over clean and perturbed conditions within the same cluster. By comparing model responses to clean and corrupted inputs, the model is encouraged to favor stable responses over perturbation-induced failures. This cross-condition alignment helps the model focus on underlying task semantics despite visual degradations and textual noise. Experiments on three Earth Observation tasks show that RemoteShield consistently delivers stronger robustness and cross-condition consistency than representative baselines under realistic multimodal perturbations.

RemoteSAM: Towards Segment Anything for Earth Observation

We aim to develop a robust yet flexible visual foundation model for Earth observation. It should possess strong capabilities in recognizing and localizing diverse visual targets while providing compatibility with various input-output interfaces required across different task scenarios. Current systems cannot meet these requirements, as they typically utilize task-specific architecture trained on narrow data domains with limited semantic coverage. Our study addresses these limitations from two aspects: data and modeling. We first introduce an automatic data engine that enjoys significantly better scalability compared to previous human annotation or rule-based approaches. It has enabled us to create the largest dataset of its kind to date, comprising 270K image-text-mask triplets covering an unprecedented range of diverse semantic categories and attribute specifications. Based on this data foundation, we further propose a task unification paradigm that centers around referring expression segmentation. It effectively handles a wide range of vision-centric perception tasks, including classification, detection, segmentation, grounding, etc, using a single model without any task-specific heads. Combining these innovations on data and modeling, we present RemoteSAM, a foundation model that establishes new SoTA on several earth observation perception benchmarks, outperforming other foundation models such as Falcon, GeoChat, and LHRS-Bot with significantly higher efficiency. Large Language Models are Contrastive Reasoners

Prompting methods play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of pre-trained large language models (LLMs). We explore how contrastive prompting (CP) significantly improves the ability of large language models to perform complex reasoning. We demonstrate that LLMs are decent contrastive reasoners by simply adding "Let's give a correct and a wrong answer." before LLMs provide answers. Experiments on various large language models show that zero-shot contrastive prompting improves the performance of standard zero-shot prompting on a range of arithmetic, commonsense, and symbolic reasoning tasks without any hand-crafted few-shot examples, such as increasing the accuracy on GSM8K from 35.9% to 88.8% and AQUA-RAT from 41.3% to 62.2% with the state-of-the-art GPT-4 model. Our method not only surpasses zero-shot CoT and few-shot CoT in most arithmetic and commonsense reasoning tasks but also can seamlessly integrate with existing prompting methods, resulting in improved or comparable results when compared to state-of-the-art methods. Evaluating Remote Sensing Image Captions Beyond Metric Biases

The core objective of image captioning is to achieve lossless semantic compression from visual signals into textual modalities. However, the reliance on manually curated reference texts for evaluation essentially forces models to mimic specific human annotation styles, thereby masking the true descriptive capabilities of advanced foundation models. This systemic misalignment prompts a critical question: Is task-specific fine-tuning truly necessary for Remote Sensing Image Captioning, or is the perceived performance gap merely an artifact of flawed evaluation criteria? To investigate this discrepancy, we propose ReconScore, a novel reference-free evaluation metric. Rather than computing textual similarities, we assess caption quality by its capability to reconstruct the original visual elements solely from the generated text, effectively neutralizing human annotation biases. Applying this metric, we uncover a profound, counterintuitive truth: inherently powerful, unfine-tuned MLLMs surpass their fine-tuned counterparts in authentic zero-shot RSIC tasks. Driven by this structural discovery, we introduce RemoteDescriber, a completely training-free generation methodology. By employing ReconScore as a self-correction mechanism, we iteratively refine the semantic precision of MLLM outputs without any computational fine-tuning overhead. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that RemoteDescriber achieves state-of-the-art performance on three datasets. RemoteAgent: Bridging Vague Human Intents and Earth Observation with RL-based Agentic MLLMs

Earth Observation (EO) systems are essentially designed to support domain experts who often express their requirements through vague natural language rather than precise, machine-friendly instructions. Depending on the specific application scenario, these vague queries can demand vastly different levels of visual precision. Consequently, a practical EO AI system must bridge the gap between ambiguous human queries and the appropriate multi-granularity visual analysis tasks, ranging from holistic image interpretation to fine-grained pixel-wise predictions. While Multi-modal Large Language Models (MLLMs) demonstrate strong semantic understanding, their text-based output format is inherently ill-suited for dense, precision-critical spatial predictions. Existing agentic frameworks address this limitation by delegating tasks to external tools, but indiscriminate tool invocation is computationally inefficient and underutilizes the MLLM's native capabilities. To this end, we propose RemoteAgent, an agentic framework that strategically respects the intrinsic capability boundaries of MLLMs. To empower this framework to understand real user intents, we construct VagueEO, a human-centric instruction dataset pairing EO tasks with simulated vague natural-language queries. By leveraging VagueEO for reinforcement fine-tuning, we align an MLLM into a robust cognitive core that directly resolves image- and sparse region-level tasks. Consequently, RemoteAgent processes suitable tasks internally while intelligently orchestrating specialized tools via the Model Context Protocol exclusively for dense predictions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RemoteAgent achieves robust intent recognition capabilities while delivering highly competitive performance across diverse EO tasks.

SPEC-RL: Accelerating On-Policy Reinforcement Learning via Speculative Rollouts

Large Language Models (LLMs) increasingly rely on reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) to elicit reliable chain-of-thought reasoning. However, the training process remains bottlenecked by the computationally expensive rollout stage. Existing acceleration methods-such as parallelization, objective- and data-driven modifications, and replay buffers-either incur diminishing returns, introduce bias, or overlook redundancy across iterations. We identify that rollouts from consecutive training epochs frequently share a large portion of overlapping segments, wasting computation. To address this, we propose SPEC-RL, a novel framework that integrates SPECulative decoding with the RL rollout process. SPEC-RL reuses prior trajectory segments as speculative prefixes and extends them via a draft-and-verify mechanism, avoiding redundant generation while ensuring policy consistency. Experiments on diverse math reasoning and generalization benchmarks, including GSM8K, MATH-500, OlympiadBench, MMLU-STEM, and others, demonstrate that SPEC-RL reduces rollout time by 2-3x without compromising policy quality. As a purely rollout-stage enhancement, SPEC-RL integrates seamlessly with mainstream algorithms (e.g., PPO, GRPO, DAPO), offering a general and practical path to scale RLVR for large reasoning models. The DAWN of World-Action Interactive Models

A plausible scene evolution depends on the maneuver being considered, while a good maneuver depends on how the scene may evolve. Existing World Action Models (WAMs) largely miss this reciprocity, treating world prediction and action generation as either isolated parallel branches or rigid predict-then-plan pipelines. We formalize this perspective as World-Action Interactive Models (WAIMs), and instantiate it in autonomous driving with \textbf{DAWN} (\textbf{D}enoising \textbf{A}ctions and \textbf{W}orld i\textbf{N}teractive model), a simple yet strong latent generative baseline. DAWN operates in a compact semantic latent space and couples a \emph{World Predictor} with a \emph{World-Conditioned Action Denoiser}: the predicted world hypothesis conditions action denoising, while the denoised action hypothesis is fed back to update the world prediction, so that both are recursively refined during inference. Rather than eliminating test-time world evolution altogether or rolling out the full future in pixel space, DAWN performs a short explicit latent rollout that is sufficient to support long-horizon trajectory generation in complex interactive scenes. Experiments show that DAWN achieves strong planning performance and favorable safety-related results across multiple autonomous driving benchmarks. More broadly, our results suggest that interactive world-action generation is a principled path toward truly actionable world models.

TIEG-Youpu Solution for NeurIPS 2022 WikiKG90Mv2-LSC

WikiKG90Mv2 in NeurIPS 2022 is a large encyclopedic knowledge graph. Embedding knowledge graphs into continuous vector spaces is important for many practical applications, such as knowledge acquisition, question answering, and recommendation systems. Compared to existing knowledge graphs, WikiKG90Mv2 is a large scale knowledge graph, which is composed of more than 90 millions of entities. Both efficiency and accuracy should be considered when building graph embedding models for knowledge graph at scale. To this end, we follow the retrieve then re-rank pipeline, and make novel modifications in both retrieval and re-ranking stage. Specifically, we propose a priority infilling retrieval model to obtain candidates that are structurally and semantically similar. Then we propose an ensemble based re-ranking model with neighbor enhanced representations to produce final link prediction results among retrieved candidates. Experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms existing baseline methods and improves MRR of validation set from 0.2342 to 0.2839.

Compass-Embedding v4: Robust Contrastive Learning for Multilingual E-commerce Embeddings

As global e-commerce rapidly expands into emerging markets, the lack of high-quality semantic representations for low-resource languages has become a decisive bottleneck for retrieval, recommendation, and search systems. In this work, we present Compass-Embedding v4, a high-efficiency multilingual embedding framework specifically optimized for Southeast Asian (SEA) e-commerce scenarios, where data scarcity, noisy supervision, and strict production constraints jointly challenge representation learning. Compass-Embedding v4 addresses three core challenges. First, large-batch contrastive training under mixed task supervision introduces systematic false negatives that degrade semantic alignment. We propose Class-Aware Masking (CAM), a lightweight modification to the InfoNCE objective that suppresses invalid in-batch negatives and improves semantic discrimination without altering training efficiency. Second, low-resource SEA languages suffer from limited and uneven data coverage. We construct a diversified training corpus through context-grounded synthetic data generation, cross-lingual translation, and structured e-commerce data construction, enabling robust multilingual and domain-specific learning. Third, production deployment requires high-throughput inference while preserving embedding quality. We combine robustness-driven large-batch training with spherical model merging to mitigate catastrophic forgetting, and optimize inference via vLLM and FP8 quantization. Extensive evaluations across multilingual benchmarks and proprietary e-commerce tasks show that Compass-Embedding v4 achieves state-of-the-art performance on major SEA languages, significantly outperforming general-purpose embedding models in domain-specific retrieval and classification, while maintaining competitive performance on high-resource languages.

Disentangle Object and Non-object Infrared Features via Language Guidance

Infrared object detection focuses on identifying and locating objects in complex environments (\eg, dark, snow, and rain) where visible imaging cameras are disabled by poor illumination. However, due to low contrast and weak edge information in infrared images, it is challenging to extract discriminative object features for robust detection. To deal with this issue, we propose a novel vision-language representation learning paradigm for infrared object detection. An additional textual supervision with rich semantic information is explored to guide the disentanglement of object and non-object features. Specifically, we propose a Semantic Feature Alignment (SFA) module to align the object features with the corresponding text features. Furthermore, we develop an Object Feature Disentanglement (OFD) module that disentangles text-aligned object features and non-object features by minimizing their correlation. Finally, the disentangled object features are entered into the detection head. In this manner, the detection performance can be remarkably enhanced via more discriminative and less noisy features. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves superior performance on two benchmarks: M\textsuperscript{3}FD (83.7\% mAP), FLIR (86.1\% mAP). Subject-Consistent and Pose-Diverse Text-to-Image Generation

Subject-consistent generation (SCG)-aiming to maintain a consistent subject identity across diverse scenes-remains a challenge for text-to-image (T2I) models. Existing training-free SCG methods often achieve consistency at the cost of layout and pose diversity, hindering expressive visual storytelling. To address the limitation, we propose subject-Consistent and pose-Diverse T2I framework, dubbed as CoDi, that enables consistent subject generation with diverse pose and layout. Motivated by the progressive nature of diffusion, where coarse structures emerge early and fine details are refined later, CoDi adopts a two-stage strategy: Identity Transport (IT) and Identity Refinement (IR). IT operates in the early denoising steps, using optimal transport to transfer identity features to each target image in a pose-aware manner. This promotes subject consistency while preserving pose diversity. IR is applied in the later denoising steps, selecting the most salient identity features to further refine subject details. Extensive qualitative and quantitative results on subject consistency, pose diversity, and prompt fidelity demonstrate that CoDi achieves both better visual perception and stronger performance across all metrics. UEMM-Air: Make Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Perform More Multi-modal Tasks

The development of multi-modal learning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) typically relies on a large amount of pixel-aligned multi-modal image data. However, existing datasets face challenges such as limited modalities, high construction costs, and imprecise annotations. To this end, we propose a synthetic multi-modal UAV-based multi-task dataset, UEMM-Air. Specifically, we simulate various UAV flight scenarios and object types using the Unreal Engine (UE). Then we design the UAV's flight logic to automatically collect data from different scenarios, perspectives, and altitudes. Furthermore, we propose a novel heuristic automatic annotation algorithm to generate accurate object detection labels. Finally, we utilize labels to generate text descriptions of images to make our UEMM-Air support more cross-modality tasks. In total, our UEMM-Air consists of 120k pairs of images with 6 modalities and precise annotations. Moreover, we conduct numerous experiments and establish new benchmark results on our dataset. We also found that models pre-trained on UEMM-Air exhibit better performance on downstream tasks compared to other similar datasets. ImageGCN: Multi-Relational Image Graph Convolutional Networks for Disease Identification with Chest X-rays

Image representation is a fundamental task in computer vision. However, most of the existing approaches for image representation ignore the relations between images and consider each input image independently. Intuitively, relations between images can help to understand the images and maintain model consistency over related images, leading to better explainability. In this paper, we consider modeling the image-level relations to generate more informative image representations, and propose ImageGCN, an end-to-end graph convolutional network framework for inductive multi-relational image modeling. We apply ImageGCN to chest X-ray images where rich relational information is available for disease identification. Unlike previous image representation models, ImageGCN learns the representation of an image using both its original pixel features and its relationship with other images. Besides learning informative representations for images, ImageGCN can also be used for object detection in a weakly supervised manner. The experimental results on 3 open-source x-ray datasets, ChestX-ray14, CheXpert and MIMIC-CXR demonstrate that ImageGCN can outperform respective baselines in both disease identification and localization tasks and can achieve comparable and often better results than the state-of-the-art methods.

VisionNVS: Self-Supervised Inpainting for Novel View Synthesis under the Virtual-Shift Paradigm

A fundamental bottleneck in Novel View Synthesis (NVS) for autonomous driving is the inherent supervision gap on novel trajectories: models are tasked with synthesizing unseen views during inference, yet lack ground truth images for these shifted poses during training. In this paper, we propose VisionNVS, a camera-only framework that fundamentally reformulates view synthesis from an ill-posed extrapolation problem into a self-supervised inpainting task. By introducing a ``Virtual-Shift'' strategy, we use monocular depth proxies to simulate occlusion patterns and map them onto the original view. This paradigm shift allows the use of raw, recorded images as pixel-perfect supervision, effectively eliminating the domain gap inherent in previous approaches. Furthermore, we address spatial consistency through a Pseudo-3D Seam Synthesis strategy, which integrates visual data from adjacent cameras during training to explicitly model real-world photometric discrepancies and calibration errors. Experiments demonstrate that VisionNVS achieves superior geometric fidelity and visual quality compared to LiDAR-dependent baselines, offering a robust solution for scalable driving simulation.

Each Prompt Matters: Scaling Reinforcement Learning Without Wasting Rollouts on Hundred-Billion-Scale MoE

We present CompassMax-V3-Thinking, a hundred-billion-scale MoE reasoning model trained with a new RL framework built on one principle: each prompt must matter. Scaling RL to this size exposes critical inefficiencies-zero-variance prompts that waste rollouts, unstable importance sampling over long horizons, advantage inversion from standard reward models, and systemic bottlenecks in rollout processing. To overcome these challenges, we introduce several unified innovations: (1) Multi-Stage Zero-Variance Elimination, which filters out non-informative prompts and stabilizes group-based policy optimization (e.g. GRPO) by removing wasted rollouts; (2) ESPO, an entropy-adaptive optimization method that balances token-level and sequence-level importance sampling to maintain stable learning dynamics; (3) a Router Replay strategy that aligns training-time MoE router decisions with inference-time behavior to mitigate train-infer discrepancies, coupled with a reward model adjustment to prevent advantage inversion; (4) a high-throughput RL system with FP8-precision rollouts, overlapped reward computation, and length-aware scheduling to eliminate performance bottlenecks. Together, these contributions form a cohesive pipeline that makes RL on hundred-billion-scale MoE models stable and efficient. The resulting model delivers strong performance across both internal and public evaluations.

RemoteTrimmer: Adaptive Structural Pruning for Remote Sensing Image Classification

Since high resolution remote sensing image classification often requires a relatively high computation complexity, lightweight models tend to be practical and efficient. Model pruning is an effective method for model compression. However, existing methods rarely take into account the specificity of remote sensing images, resulting in significant accuracy loss after pruning. To this end, we propose an effective structural pruning approach for remote sensing image classification. Specifically, a pruning strategy that amplifies the differences in channel importance of the model is introduced. Then an adaptive mining loss function is designed for the fine-tuning process of the pruned model. Finally, we conducted experiments on two remote sensing classification datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves minimal accuracy loss after compressing remote sensing classification models, achieving state-of-the-art (SoTA) performance.

RemoteReasoner: Towards Unifying Geospatial Reasoning Workflow

Remote sensing imagery presents vast, inherently unstructured spatial data, necessitating sophisticated reasoning to interpret complex user intents and contextual relationships beyond simple recognition tasks. In this paper, we aim to construct an Earth observation workflow to handle complex queries by reasoning about spatial context and user intent. As a reasoning workflow, it should autonomously explore and construct its own inference paths, rather than being confined to predefined ground-truth sequences. Ideally, its architecture ought to be unified yet generalized, possessing capabilities to perform diverse reasoning tasks through one model without requiring additional fine-tuning. Existing remote sensing approaches rely on supervised fine-tuning paradigms and task-specific heads, limiting both autonomous reasoning and unified generalization. To this end, we propose RemoteReasoner, a unified workflow for geospatial reasoning. The design of RemoteReasoner integrates a multi-modal large language model (MLLM) for interpreting user instructions and localizing targets, together with task transformation strategies that enable multi-granularity tasks, including object-, region-, and pixel-level. In contrast to existing methods, our framework is trained with reinforcement learning (RL) to endow the MLLM sufficient reasoning autonomy. At the inference stage, our transformation strategies enable diverse task output formats without requiring task-specific decoders or further fine-tuning. Experiments demonstrated that RemoteReasoner achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance across multi-granularity reasoning tasks. Furthermore, it retains the MLLM's inherent generalization capability, demonstrating robust performance on unseen tasks and out-of-distribution categories.

Chain-of-Talkers (CoTalk): Fast Human Annotation of Dense Image Captions

While densely annotated image captions significantly facilitate the learning of robust vision-language alignment, methodologies for systematically optimizing human annotation efforts remain underexplored. We introduce Chain-of-Talkers (CoTalk), an AI-in-the-loop methodology designed to maximize the number of annotated samples and improve their comprehensiveness under fixed budget constraints (e.g., total human annotation time). The framework is built upon two key insights. First, sequential annotation reduces redundant workload compared to conventional parallel annotation, as subsequent annotators only need to annotate the ``residual'' -- the missing visual information that previous annotations have not covered. Second, humans process textual input faster by reading while outputting annotations with much higher throughput via talking; thus a multimodal interface enables optimized efficiency. We evaluate our framework from two aspects: intrinsic evaluations that assess the comprehensiveness of semantic units, obtained by parsing detailed captions into object-attribute trees and analyzing their effective connections; extrinsic evaluation measures the practical usage of the annotated captions in facilitating vision-language alignment. Experiments with eight participants show our Chain-of-Talkers (CoTalk) improves annotation speed (0.42 vs. 0.30 units/sec) and retrieval performance (41.13% vs. 40.52%) over the parallel method.

Ultrasound Report Generation with Multimodal Large Language Models for Standardized Texts

Ultrasound (US) report generation is a challenging task due to the variability of US images, operator dependence, and the need for standardized text. Unlike X-ray and CT, US imaging lacks consistent datasets, making automation difficult. In this study, we propose a unified framework for multi-organ and multilingual US report generation, integrating fragment-based multilingual training and leveraging the standardized nature of US reports. By aligning modular text fragments with diverse imaging data and curating a bilingual English-Chinese dataset, the method achieves consistent and clinically accurate text generation across organ sites and languages. Fine-tuning with selective unfreezing of the vision transformer (ViT) further improves text-image alignment. Compared to the previous state-of-the-art KMVE method, our approach achieves relative gains of about 2\% in BLEU scores, approximately 3\% in ROUGE-L, and about 15\% in CIDEr, while significantly reducing errors such as missing or incorrect content. By unifying multi-organ and multi-language report generation into a single, scalable framework, this work demonstrates strong potential for real-world clinical workflows.

Boost UAV-based Ojbect Detection via Scale-Invariant Feature Disentanglement and Adversarial Learning

Detecting objects from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is often hindered by a large number of small objects, resulting in low detection accuracy. To address this issue, mainstream approaches typically utilize multi-stage inferences. Despite their remarkable detecting accuracies, real-time efficiency is sacrificed, making them less practical to handle real applications. To this end, we propose to improve the single-stage inference accuracy through learning scale-invariant features. Specifically, a Scale-Invariant Feature Disentangling module is designed to disentangle scale-related and scale-invariant features. Then an Adversarial Feature Learning scheme is employed to enhance disentanglement. Finally, scale-invariant features are leveraged for robust UAV-based object detection. Furthermore, we construct a multi-modal UAV object detection dataset, State-Air, which incorporates annotated UAV state parameters. We apply our approach to three lightweight detection frameworks on two benchmark datasets. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach can effectively improve model accuracy and achieve state-of-the-art (SoTA) performance on two datasets. Our code and dataset will be publicly available once the paper is accepted.

LLMAtKGE: Large Language Models as Explainable Attackers against Knowledge Graph Embeddings

Adversarial attacks on knowledge graph embeddings (KGE) aim to disrupt the model's ability of link prediction by removing or inserting triples. A recent black-box method has attempted to incorporate textual and structural information to enhance attack performance. However, it is unable to generate human-readable explanations, and exhibits poor generalizability. In the past few years, large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated powerful capabilities in text comprehension, generation, and reasoning. In this paper, we propose LLMAtKGE, a novel LLM-based framework that selects attack targets and generates human-readable explanations. To provide the LLM with sufficient factual context under limited input constraints, we design a structured prompting scheme that explicitly formulates the attack as multiple-choice questions while incorporating KG factual evidence. To address the context-window limitation and hesitation issues, we introduce semantics-based and centrality-based filters, which compress the candidate set while preserving high recall of attack-relevant information. Furthermore, to efficiently integrate both semantic and structural information into the filter, we precompute high-order adjacency and fine-tune the LLM with a triple classification task to enhance filtering performance. Experiments on two widely used knowledge graph datasets demonstrate that our attack outperforms the strongest black-box baselines and provides explanations via reasoning, and showing competitive performance compared with white-box methods. Comprehensive ablation and case studies further validate its capability to generate explanations.

LPS-GNN : Deploying Graph Neural Networks on Graphs with 100-Billion Edges

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have emerged as powerful tools for various graph mining tasks, yet existing scalable solutions often struggle to balance execution efficiency with prediction accuracy. These difficulties stem from iterative message-passing techniques, which place significant computational demands and require extensive GPU memory, particularly when dealing with the neighbor explosion issue inherent in large-scale graphs. This paper introduces a scalable, low-cost, flexible, and efficient GNN framework called LPS-GNN, which can perform representation learning on 100 billion graphs with a single GPU in 10 hours and shows a 13.8% improvement in User Acquisition scenarios. We examine existing graph partitioning methods and design a superior graph partition algorithm named LPMetis. In particular, LPMetis outperforms current state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches on various evaluation metrics. In addition, our paper proposes a subgraph augmentation strategy to enhance the model's predictive performance. It exhibits excellent compatibility, allowing the entire framework to accommodate various GNN algorithms. Successfully deployed on the Tencent platform, LPS-GNN has been tested on public and real-world datasets, achieving performance lifts of 8. 24% to 13. 89% over SOTA models in online applications.

CFNet: Learning Correlation Functions for One-Stage Panoptic Segmentation

Recently, there is growing attention on one-stage panoptic segmentation methods which aim to segment instances and stuff jointly within a fully convolutional pipeline efficiently. However, most of the existing works directly feed the backbone features to various segmentation heads ignoring the demands for semantic and instance segmentation are different: The former needs semantic-level discriminative features, while the latter requires features to be distinguishable across instances. To alleviate this, we propose to first predict semantic-level and instance-level correlations among different locations that are utilized to enhance the backbone features, and then feed the improved discriminative features into the corresponding segmentation heads, respectively. Specifically, we organize the correlations between a given location and all locations as a continuous sequence and predict it as a whole. Considering that such a sequence can be extremely complicated, we adopt Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), a tool that can approximate an arbitrary sequence parameterized by amplitudes and phrases. For different tasks, we generate these parameters from the backbone features in a fully convolutional way which is optimized implicitly by corresponding tasks. As a result, these accurate and consistent correlations contribute to producing plausible discriminative features which meet the requirements of the complicated panoptic segmentation task. To verify the effectiveness of our methods, we conduct experiments on several challenging panoptic segmentation datasets and achieve state-of-the-art performance on MS COCO with $45.1$\% PQ and ADE20k with $32.6$\% PQ.

Towards User-Driven Neural Machine Translation

A good translation should not only translate the original content semantically, but also incarnate personal traits of the original text. For a real-world neural machine translation (NMT) system, these user traits (e.g., topic preference, stylistic characteristics and expression habits) can be preserved in user behavior (e.g., historical inputs). However, current NMT systems marginally consider the user behavior due to: 1) the difficulty of modeling user portraits in zero-shot scenarios, and 2) the lack of user-behavior annotated parallel dataset. To fill this gap, we introduce a novel framework called user-driven NMT. Specifically, a cache-based module and a user-driven contrastive learning method are proposed to offer NMT the ability to capture potential user traits from their historical inputs under a zero-shot learning fashion. Furthermore, we contribute the first Chinese-English parallel corpus annotated with user behavior called UDT-Corpus. Experimental results confirm that the proposed user-driven NMT can generate user-specific translations.

Exploiting Neural Query Translation into Cross Lingual Information Retrieval

As a crucial role in cross-language information retrieval (CLIR), query translation has three main challenges: 1) the adequacy of translation; 2) the lack of in-domain parallel training data; and 3) the requisite of low latency. To this end, existing CLIR systems mainly exploit statistical-based machine translation (SMT) rather than the advanced neural machine translation (NMT), limiting the further improvements on both translation and retrieval quality. In this paper, we investigate how to exploit neural query translation model into CLIR system. Specifically, we propose a novel data augmentation method that extracts query translation pairs according to user clickthrough data, thus to alleviate the problem of domain-adaptation in NMT. Then, we introduce an asynchronous strategy which is able to leverage the advantages of the real-time in SMT and the veracity in NMT. Experimental results reveal that the proposed approach yields better retrieval quality than strong baselines and can be well applied into a real-world CLIR system, i.e. Aliexpress e-Commerce search engine. Constraint Translation Candidates: A Bridge between Neural Query Translation and Cross-lingual Information Retrieval

Query translation (QT) is a key component in cross-lingual information retrieval system (CLIR). With the help of deep learning, neural machine translation (NMT) has shown promising results on various tasks. However, NMT is generally trained with large-scale out-of-domain data rather than in-domain query translation pairs. Besides, the translation model lacks a mechanism at the inference time to guarantee the generated words to match the search index. The two shortages of QT result in readable texts for human but inadequate candidates for the downstream retrieval task. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to alleviate these problems by limiting the open target vocabulary search space of QT to a set of important words mined from search index database. The constraint translation candidates are employed at both of training and inference time, thus guiding the translation model to learn and generate well performing target queries. The proposed methods are exploited and examined in a real-word CLIR system--Aliexpress e-Commerce search engine. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach yields better performance on both translation quality and retrieval accuracy than the strong NMT baseline.

Towards Expressive Graph Representation

Graph Neural Network (GNN) aggregates the neighborhood of each node into the node embedding and shows its powerful capability for graph representation learning. However, most existing GNN variants aggregate the neighborhood information in a fixed non-injective fashion, which may map different graphs or nodes to the same embedding, reducing the model expressiveness. We present a theoretical framework to design a continuous injective set function for neighborhood aggregation in GNN. Using the framework, we propose expressive GNN that aggregates the neighborhood of each node with a continuous injective set function, so that a GNN layer maps similar nodes with similar neighborhoods to similar embeddings, different nodes to different embeddings and the equivalent nodes or isomorphic graphs to the same embeddings. Moreover, the proposed expressive GNN can naturally learn expressive representations for graphs with continuous node attributes. We validate the proposed expressive GNN (ExpGNN) for graph classification on multiple benchmark datasets including simple graphs and attributed graphs. The experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves state-of-the-art performances on most of the benchmarks.

KG-BERT: BERT for Knowledge Graph Completion

Knowledge graphs are important resources for many artificial intelligence tasks but often suffer from incompleteness. In this work, we propose to use pre-trained language models for knowledge graph completion. We treat triples in knowledge graphs as textual sequences and propose a novel framework named Knowledge Graph Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformer (KG-BERT) to model these triples. Our method takes entity and relation descriptions of a triple as input and computes scoring function of the triple with the KG-BERT language model. Experimental results on multiple benchmark knowledge graphs show that our method can achieve state-of-the-art performance in triple classification, link prediction and relation prediction tasks.

Evaluating the Portability of an NLP System for Processing Echocardiograms: A Retrospective, Multi-site Observational Study

While natural language processing (NLP) of unstructured clinical narratives holds the potential for patient care and clinical research, portability of NLP approaches across multiple sites remains a major challenge. This study investigated the portability of an NLP system developed initially at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to extract 27 key cardiac concepts from free-text or semi-structured echocardiograms from three academic medical centers: Weill Cornell Medicine, Mayo Clinic and Northwestern Medicine. While the NLP system showed high precision and recall measurements for four target concepts (aortic valve regurgitation, left atrium size at end systole, mitral valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve regurgitation) across all sites, we found moderate or poor results for the remaining concepts and the NLP system performance varied between individual sites.

MedGCN: Medication recommendation and lab test imputation via graph convolutional networks

Laboratory testing and medication prescription are two of the most important routines in daily clinical practice. Developing an artificial intelligence system that can automatically make lab test imputations and medication recommendations can save costs on potentially redundant lab tests and inform physicians of a more effective prescription. We present an intelligent medical system (named MedGCN) that can automatically recommend the patients' medications based on their incomplete lab tests, and can even accurately estimate the lab values that have not been taken. In our system, we integrate the complex relations between multiple types of medical entities with their inherent features in a heterogeneous graph. Then we model the graph to learn a distributed representation for each entity in the graph based on graph convolutional networks (GCN). By the propagation of graph convolutional networks, the entity representations can incorporate multiple types of medical information that can benefit multiple medical tasks. Moreover, we introduce a cross regularization strategy to reduce overfitting for multi-task training by the interaction between the multiple tasks. In this study, we construct a graph to associate 4 types of medical entities, i.e., patients, encounters, lab tests, and medications, and applied a graph neural network to learn node embeddings for medication recommendation and lab test imputation. we validate our MedGCN model on two real-world datasets: NMEDW and MIMIC-III. The experimental results on both datasets demonstrate that our model can outperform the state-of-the-art in both tasks. We believe that our innovative system can provide a promising and reliable way to assist physicians to make medication prescriptions and to save costs on potentially redundant lab tests.

Early Prediction of Acute Kidney Injury in Critical Care Setting Using Clinical Notes

Acute kidney injury (AKI) in critically ill patients is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Development of novel methods to identify patients with AKI earlier will allow for testing of novel strategies to prevent or reduce the complications of AKI. We developed data-driven prediction models to estimate the risk of new AKI onset. We generated models from clinical notes within the first 24 hours following intensive care unit (ICU) admission extracted from Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III). From the clinical notes, we generated clinically meaningful word and concept representations and embeddings, respectively. Five supervised learning classifiers and knowledge-guided deep learning architecture were used to construct prediction models. The best configuration yielded a competitive AUC of 0.779. Our work suggests that natural language processing of clinical notes can be applied to assist clinicians in identifying the risk of incident AKI onset in critically ill patients upon admission to the ICU.

Deep Generative Classifiers for Thoracic Disease Diagnosis with Chest X-ray Images

Thoracic diseases are very serious health problems that plague a large number of people. Chest X-ray is currently one of the most popular methods to diagnose thoracic diseases, playing an important role in the healthcare workflow. However, reading the chest X-ray images and giving an accurate diagnosis remain challenging tasks for expert radiologists. With the success of deep learning in computer vision, a growing number of deep neural network architectures were applied to chest X-ray image classification. However, most of the previous deep neural network classifiers were based on deterministic architectures which are usually very noise-sensitive and are likely to aggravate the overfitting issue. In this paper, to make a deep architecture more robust to noise and to reduce overfitting, we propose using deep generative classifiers to automatically diagnose thorax diseases from the chest X-ray images. Unlike the traditional deterministic classifier, a deep generative classifier has a distribution middle layer in the deep neural network. A sampling layer then draws a random sample from the distribution layer and input it to the following layer for classification. The classifier is generative because the class label is generated from samples of a related distribution. Through training the model with a certain amount of randomness, the deep generative classifiers are expected to be robust to noise and can reduce overfitting and then achieve good performances. We implemented our deep generative classifiers based on a number of well-known deterministic neural network architectures, and tested our models on the chest X-ray14 dataset. The results demonstrated the superiority of deep generative classifiers compared with the corresponding deep deterministic classifiers.

Distribution Networks for Open Set Learning

In open set learning, a model must be able to generalize to novel classes when it encounters a sample that does not belong to any of the classes it has seen before. Open set learning poses a realistic learning scenario that is receiving growing attention. Existing studies on open set learning mainly focused on detecting novel classes, but few studies tried to model them for differentiating novel classes. In this paper, we recognize that novel classes should be different from each other, and propose distribution networks for open set learning that can model different novel classes based on probability distributions. We hypothesize that, through a certain mapping, samples from different classes with the same classification criterion should follow different probability distributions from the same distribution family. A deep neural network is learned to map the samples in the original feature space to a latent space where the distributions of known classes can be jointly learned with the network. We additionally propose a distribution parameter transfer and updating strategy for novel class modeling when a novel class is detected in the latent space. By novel class modeling, the detected novel classes can serve as known classes to the subsequent classification. Our experimental results on image datasets MNIST and CIFAR10 show that the distribution networks can detect novel classes accurately, and model them well for the subsequent classification tasks.

Graph Convolutional Networks for Text Classification

Text classification is an important and classical problem in natural language processing. There have been a number of studies that applied convolutional neural networks (convolution on regular grid, e.g., sequence) to classification. However, only a limited number of studies have explored the more flexible graph convolutional neural networks (convolution on non-grid, e.g., arbitrary graph) for the task. In this work, we propose to use graph convolutional networks for text classification. We build a single text graph for a corpus based on word co-occurrence and document word relations, then learn a Text Graph Convolutional Network (Text GCN) for the corpus. Our Text GCN is initialized with one-hot representation for word and document, it then jointly learns the embeddings for both words and documents, as supervised by the known class labels for documents. Our experimental results on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that a vanilla Text GCN without any external word embeddings or knowledge outperforms state-of-the-art methods for text classification. On the other hand, Text GCN also learns predictive word and document embeddings. In addition, experimental results show that the improvement of Text GCN over state-of-the-art comparison methods become more prominent as we lower the percentage of training data, suggesting the robustness of Text GCN to less training data in text classification.

Clinical Text Classification with Rule-based Features and Knowledge-guided Convolutional Neural Networks

Clinical text classification is an important problem in medical natural language processing. Existing studies have conventionally focused on rules or knowledge sources-based feature engineering, but only a few have exploited effective feature learning capability of deep learning methods. In this study, we propose a novel approach which combines rule-based features and knowledge-guided deep learning techniques for effective disease classification. Critical Steps of our method include identifying trigger phrases, predicting classes with very few examples using trigger phrases and training a convolutional neural network with word embeddings and Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) entity embeddings. We evaluated our method on the 2008 Integrating Informatics with Biology and the Bedside (i2b2) obesity challenge. The results show that our method outperforms the state of the art methods.

Developing a Portable Natural Language Processing Based Phenotyping System

This paper presents a portable phenotyping system that is capable of integrating both rule-based and statistical machine learning based approaches. Our system utilizes UMLS to extract clinically relevant features from the unstructured text and then facilitates portability across different institutions and data systems by incorporating OHDSI's OMOP Common Data Model (CDM) to standardize necessary data elements. Our system can also store the key components of rule-based systems (e.g., regular expression matches) in the format of OMOP CDM, thus enabling the reuse, adaptation and extension of many existing rule-based clinical NLP systems. We experimented with our system on the corpus from i2b2's Obesity Challenge as a pilot study. Our system facilitates portable phenotyping of obesity and its 15 comorbidities based on the unstructured patient discharge summaries, while achieving a performance that often ranked among the top 10 of the challenge participants. This standardization enables a consistent application of numerous rule-based and machine learning based classification techniques downstream.
