SRENet: Spectral Re-Entry Network for Point Cloud Action Recognition

Recognizing human actions from point cloud sequences is critical for 3D perception driven applications such as autonomous driving and human-computer interaction. However, the irregular structure and temporal inconsistency of point clouds pose unique challenges for spatio-temporal representation learning, especially in capturing both global motion context and fine-grained temporal dynamics. We propose SRENet, a spectral-aware framework designed to explicitly learn both global context and fine-grained temporal dynamics of motion from a frequency perspective for action recognition. SRENet introduces a Spectral Decomposition Block (SDeBlock) that performs wavelet-based analysis along temporal and spatial axes, disentangling features into low- and high-frequency components with frequency-specific attention. To recover residual dynamics and re-align temporal frequency structures distorted during semantic fusion, a Spectral Re-entry Block (SReBlock) performs secondary temporal decomposition. Furthermore, a spectral-aware learning strategy is devised to enhance discriminability in both frequency subspaces via contrastive loss and a curriculum schedule that gradually shifts focus from low- to high-frequency spaces in line with coarse to detailed motion patterns. Extensive experiments on MSR-Action3D, NTU-RGBD and NTU-RGBD120 demonstrate that SRENet achieves state-of-the-art performance, validating the effectiveness of frequency modeling in point cloud-based action understanding.

Semi-supervised Deep Multi-view Stereo

Significant progress has been witnessed in learning-based Multi-view Stereo (MVS) under supervised and unsupervised settings. To combine their respective merits in accuracy and completeness, meantime reducing the demand for expensive labeled data, this paper explores the problem of learning-based MVS in a semi-supervised setting that only a tiny part of the MVS data is attached with dense depth ground truth. However, due to huge variation of scenarios and flexible settings in views, it may break the basic assumption in classic semi-supervised learning, that unlabeled data and labeled data share the same label space and data distribution, named as semi-supervised distribution-gap ambiguity in the MVS problem. To handle these issues, we propose a novel semi-supervised distribution-augmented MVS framework, namely SDA-MVS. For the simple case that the basic assumption works in MVS data, consistency regularization encourages the model predictions to be consistent between original sample and randomly augmented sample. For further troublesome case that the basic assumption is conflicted in MVS data, we propose a novel style consistency loss to alleviate the negative effect caused by the distribution gap. The visual style of unlabeled sample is transferred to labeled sample to shrink the gap, and the model prediction of generated sample is further supervised with the label in original labeled sample. The experimental results in semi-supervised settings of multiple MVS datasets show the superior performance of the proposed method. With the same settings in backbone network, our proposed SDA-MVS outperforms its fully-supervised and unsupervised baselines.

PointDC:Unsupervised Semantic Segmentation of 3D Point Clouds via Cross-modal Distillation and Super-Voxel Clustering

Semantic segmentation of point clouds usually requires exhausting efforts of human annotations, hence it attracts wide attention to the challenging topic of learning from unlabeled or weaker forms of annotations. In this paper, we take the first attempt for fully unsupervised semantic segmentation of point clouds, which aims to delineate semantically meaningful objects without any form of annotations. Previous works of unsupervised pipeline on 2D images fails in this task of point clouds, due to: 1) Clustering Ambiguity caused by limited magnitude of data and imbalanced class distribution; 2) Irregularity Ambiguity caused by the irregular sparsity of point cloud. Therefore, we propose a novel framework, PointDC, which is comprised of two steps that handle the aforementioned problems respectively: Cross-Modal Distillation (CMD) and Super-Voxel Clustering (SVC). In the first stage of CMD, multi-view visual features are back-projected to the 3D space and aggregated to a unified point feature to distill the training of the point representation. In the second stage of SVC, the point features are aggregated to super-voxels and then fed to the iterative clustering process for excavating semantic classes. PointDC yields a significant improvement over the prior state-of-the-art unsupervised methods, on both the ScanNet-v2 (+18.4 mIoU) and S3DIS (+11.5 mIoU) semantic segmentation benchmarks.

STMR: Spiral Transformer for Hand Mesh Reconstruction

Recent advancements in both transformer-based methods and spiral neighbor sampling techniques have greatly enhanced hand mesh reconstruction. Transformers excel in capturing complex vertex relationships, and spiral neighbor sampling is vital for utilizing topological structures. This paper ingeniously integrates spiral sampling into the Transformer architecture, enhancing its ability to leverage mesh topology for superior performance in hand mesh reconstruction, resulting in substantial accuracy boosts. STMR employs a single image encoder for model efficiency. To augment its information extraction capability, we design the multi-scale pose feature extraction (MSPFE) module, which facilitates the extraction of rich pose features, ultimately enhancing the model's performance. Moreover, the proposed predefined pose-to-vertex lifting (PPVL) method improves vertex feature representation, further boosting reconstruction performance. Extensive experiments on the FreiHAND dataset demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance and unparalleled inference speed of STMR compared with similar backbone methods, showcasing its efficiency and effectiveness. GLDiTalker: Speech-Driven 3D Facial Animation with Graph Latent Diffusion Transformer

Speech-driven talking head generation is a critical yet challenging task with applications in augmented reality and virtual human modeling. While recent approaches using autoregressive and diffusion-based models have achieved notable progress, they often suffer from modality inconsistencies, particularly misalignment between audio and mesh, leading to reduced motion diversity and lip-sync accuracy. To address this, we propose GLDiTalker, a novel speech-driven 3D facial animation model based on a Graph Latent Diffusion Transformer. GLDiTalker resolves modality misalignment by diffusing signals within a quantized spatiotemporal latent space. It employs a two-stage training pipeline: the Graph-Enhanced Quantized Space Learning Stage ensures lip-sync accuracy, while the Space-Time Powered Latent Diffusion Stage enhances motion diversity. Together, these stages enable GLDiTalker to generate realistic, temporally stable 3D facial animations. Extensive evaluations on standard benchmarks demonstrate that GLDiTalker outperforms existing methods, achieving superior results in both lip-sync accuracy and motion diversity.

PhysMamba: State Space Duality Model for Remote Physiological Measurement

Remote Photoplethysmography (rPPG) enables non-contact physiological signal extraction from facial videos, offering applications in psychological state analysis, medical assistance, and anti-face spoofing. However, challenges such as motion artifacts, lighting variations, and noise limit its real-world applicability. To address these issues, we propose PhysMamba, a novel dual-pathway time-frequency interaction model based on Synergistic State Space Duality (SSSD), which for the first time integrates state space models with attention mechanisms in a dual-branch framework. Combined with a Multi-Scale Query (MQ) mechanism, PhysMamba achieves efficient information exchange and enhanced feature representation, ensuring robustness under noisy and dynamic conditions. Experiments on PURE, UBFC-rPPG, and MMPD datasets demonstrate that PhysMamba outperforms state-of-the-art methods, offering superior accuracy and generalization. This work lays a strong foundation for practical applications in non-contact health monitoring, including real-time remote patient care.

Pb4U-GNet: Resolution-Adaptive Garment Simulation via Propagation-before-Update Graph Network

Garment simulation is fundamental to various applications in computer vision and graphics, from virtual try-on to digital human modelling. However, conventional physics-based methods remain computationally expensive, hindering their application in time-sensitive scenarios. While graph neural networks (GNNs) offer promising acceleration, existing approaches exhibit poor cross-resolution generalisation, demonstrating significant performance degradation on higher-resolution meshes beyond the training distribution. This stems from two key factors: (1) existing GNNs employ fixed message-passing depth that fails to adapt information aggregation to mesh density variation, and (2) vertex-wise displacement magnitudes are inherently resolution-dependent in garment simulation. To address these issues, we introduce Propagation-before-Update Graph Network (Pb4U-GNet), a resolution-adaptive framework that decouples message propagation from feature updates. Pb4U-GNet incorporates two key mechanisms: (1) dynamic propagation depth control, adjusting message-passing iterations based on mesh resolution, and (2) geometry-aware update scaling, which scales predictions according to local mesh characteristics. Extensive experiments show that even trained solely on low-resolution meshes, Pb4U-GNet exhibits strong generalisability across diverse mesh resolutions, addressing a fundamental challenge in neural garment simulation.

SplatCo: Structure-View Collaborative Gaussian Splatting for Detail-Preserving Rendering of Large-Scale Unbounded Scenes

We present SplatCo, a structure-view collaborative Gaussian splatting framework for high-fidelity rendering of complex outdoor environments. SplatCo builds upon two novel components: (1) a cross-structure collaboration module that combines global tri-plane representations, which capture coarse scene layouts, with local context grid features that represent fine surface details. This fusion is achieved through a novel hierarchical compensation strategy, ensuring both global consistency and local detail preservation; and (2) a cross-view assisted training strategy that enhances multi-view consistency by synchronizing gradient updates across viewpoints, applying visibility-aware densification, and pruning overfitted or inaccurate Gaussians based on structural consistency. Through joint optimization of structural representation and multi-view coherence, SplatCo effectively reconstructs fine-grained geometric structures and complex textures in large-scale scenes. Comprehensive evaluations on 13 diverse large-scale scenes, including Mill19, MatrixCity, Tanks & Temples, WHU, and custom aerial captures, demonstrate that SplatCo consistently achieves higher reconstruction quality than state-of-the-art methods, with PSNR improvements of 1-2 dB and SSIM gains of 0.1 to 0.2. Dynamic Group Convolution for Accelerating Convolutional Neural Networks

Replacing normal convolutions with group convolutions can significantly increase the computational efficiency of modern deep convolutional networks, which has been widely adopted in compact network architecture designs. However, existing group convolutions undermine the original network structures by cutting off some connections permanently resulting in significant accuracy degradation. In this paper, we propose dynamic group convolution (DGC) that adaptively selects which part of input channels to be connected within each group for individual samples on the fly. Specifically, we equip each group with a small feature selector to automatically select the most important input channels conditioned on the input images. Multiple groups can adaptively capture abundant and complementary visual/semantic features for each input image. The DGC preserves the original network structure and has similar computational efficiency as the conventional group convolution simultaneously. Extensive experiments on multiple image classification benchmarks including CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100 and ImageNet demonstrate its superiority over the existing group convolution techniques and dynamic execution methods. EmoFace: Emotion-Content Disentangled Speech-Driven 3D Talking Face Animation

The creation of increasingly vivid 3D talking face has become a hot topic in recent years. Currently, most speech-driven works focus on lip synchronisation but neglect to effectively capture the correlations between emotions and facial motions. To address this problem, we propose a two-stream network called EmoFace, which consists of an emotion branch and a content branch. EmoFace employs a novel Mesh Attention mechanism to analyse and fuse the emotion features and content features. Particularly, a newly designed spatio-temporal graph-based convolution, SpiralConv3D, is used in Mesh Attention to learn potential temporal and spatial feature dependencies between mesh vertices. In addition, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first time to introduce a new self-growing training scheme with intermediate supervision to dynamically adjust the ratio of groundtruth adopted in the 3D face animation task. Comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations on our high-quality 3D emotional facial animation dataset, 3D-RAVDESS ($4.8863\times 10^{-5}$mm for LVE and $0.9509\times 10^{-5}$mm for EVE), together with the public dataset VOCASET ($2.8669\times 10^{-5}$mm for LVE and $0.4664\times 10^{-5}$mm for EVE), demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Mimic: Speaking Style Disentanglement for Speech-Driven 3D Facial Animation

Speech-driven 3D facial animation aims to synthesize vivid facial animations that accurately synchronize with speech and match the unique speaking style. However, existing works primarily focus on achieving precise lip synchronization while neglecting to model the subject-specific speaking style, often resulting in unrealistic facial animations. To the best of our knowledge, this work makes the first attempt to explore the coupled information between the speaking style and the semantic content in facial motions. Specifically, we introduce an innovative speaking style disentanglement method, which enables arbitrary-subject speaking style encoding and leads to a more realistic synthesis of speech-driven facial animations. Subsequently, we propose a novel framework called \textbf{Mimic} to learn disentangled representations of the speaking style and content from facial motions by building two latent spaces for style and content, respectively. Moreover, to facilitate disentangled representation learning, we introduce four well-designed constraints: an auxiliary style classifier, an auxiliary inverse classifier, a content contrastive loss, and a pair of latent cycle losses, which can effectively contribute to the construction of the identity-related style space and semantic-related content space. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments conducted on three publicly available datasets demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods and is capable of capturing diverse speaking styles for speech-driven 3D facial animation. RobustMVS: Single Domain Generalized Deep Multi-view Stereo

Despite the impressive performance of Multi-view Stereo (MVS) approaches given plenty of training samples, the performance degradation when generalizing to unseen domains has not been clearly explored yet. In this work, we focus on the domain generalization problem in MVS. To evaluate the generalization results, we build a novel MVS domain generalization benchmark including synthetic and real-world datasets. In contrast to conventional domain generalization benchmarks, we consider a more realistic but challenging scenario, where only one source domain is available for training. The MVS problem can be analogized back to the feature matching task, and maintaining robust feature consistency among views is an important factor for improving generalization performance. To address the domain generalization problem in MVS, we propose a novel MVS framework, namely RobustMVS. A DepthClustering-guided Whitening (DCW) loss is further introduced to preserve the feature consistency among different views, which decorrelates multi-view features from viewpoint-specific style information based on geometric priors from depth maps. The experimental results further show that our method achieves superior performance on the domain generalization benchmark.

SeCG: Semantic-Enhanced 3D Visual Grounding via Cross-modal Graph Attention

3D visual grounding aims to automatically locate the 3D region of the specified object given the corresponding textual description. Existing works fail to distinguish similar objects especially when multiple referred objects are involved in the description. Experiments show that direct matching of language and visual modal has limited capacity to comprehend complex referential relationships in utterances. It is mainly due to the interference caused by redundant visual information in cross-modal alignment. To strengthen relation-orientated mapping between different modalities, we propose SeCG, a semantic-enhanced relational learning model based on a graph network with our designed memory graph attention layer. Our method replaces original language-independent encoding with cross-modal encoding in visual analysis. More text-related feature expressions are obtained through the guidance of global semantics and implicit relationships. Experimental results on ReferIt3D and ScanRefer benchmarks show that the proposed method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods, particularly improving the localization performance for the multi-relation challenges.

4DStyleGaussian: Zero-shot 4D Style Transfer with Gaussian Splatting

3D neural style transfer has gained significant attention for its potential to provide user-friendly stylization with spatial consistency. However, existing 3D style transfer methods often fall short in terms of inference efficiency, generalization ability, and struggle to handle dynamic scenes with temporal consistency. In this paper, we introduce 4DStyleGaussian, a novel 4D style transfer framework designed to achieve real-time stylization of arbitrary style references while maintaining reasonable content affinity, multi-view consistency, and temporal coherence. Our approach leverages an embedded 4D Gaussian Splatting technique, which is trained using a reversible neural network for reducing content loss in the feature distillation process. Utilizing the 4D embedded Gaussians, we predict a 4D style transformation matrix that facilitates spatially and temporally consistent style transfer with Gaussian Splatting. Experiments demonstrate that our method can achieve high-quality and zero-shot stylization for 4D scenarios with enhanced efficiency and spatial-temporal consistency.

Pseudo-label Refinement for Improving Self-Supervised Learning Systems

Self-supervised learning systems have gained significant attention in recent years by leveraging clustering-based pseudo-labels to provide supervision without the need for human annotations. However, the noise in these pseudo-labels caused by the clustering methods poses a challenge to the learning process leading to degraded performance. In this work, we propose a pseudo-label refinement (SLR) algorithm to address this issue. The cluster labels from the previous epoch are projected to the current epoch cluster-labels space and a linear combination of the new label and the projected label is computed as a soft refined label containing the information from the previous epoch clusters as well as from the current epoch. In contrast to the common practice of using the maximum value as a cluster/class indicator, we employ hierarchical clustering on these soft pseudo-labels to generate refined hard-labels. This approach better utilizes the information embedded in the soft labels, outperforming the simple maximum value approach for hard label generation. The effectiveness of the proposed SLR algorithm is evaluated in the context of person re-identification (Re-ID) using unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA). Experimental results demonstrate that the modified Re-ID baseline, incorporating the SLR algorithm, achieves significantly improved mean Average Precision (mAP) performance in various UDA tasks, including real-to-synthetic, synthetic-to-real, and different real-to-real scenarios. These findings highlight the efficacy of the SLR algorithm in enhancing the performance of self-supervised learning systems.

ControLRM: Fast and Controllable 3D Generation via Large Reconstruction Model

Despite recent advancements in 3D generation methods, achieving controllability still remains a challenging issue. Current approaches utilizing score-distillation sampling are hindered by laborious procedures that consume a significant amount of time. Furthermore, the process of first generating 2D representations and then mapping them to 3D lacks internal alignment between the two forms of representation. To address these challenges, we introduce ControLRM, an end-to-end feed-forward model designed for rapid and controllable 3D generation using a large reconstruction model (LRM). ControLRM comprises a 2D condition generator, a condition encoding transformer, and a triplane decoder transformer. Instead of training our model from scratch, we advocate for a joint training framework. In the condition training branch, we lock the triplane decoder and reuses the deep and robust encoding layers pretrained with millions of 3D data in LRM. In the image training branch, we unlock the triplane decoder to establish an implicit alignment between the 2D and 3D representations. To ensure unbiased evaluation, we curate evaluation samples from three distinct datasets (G-OBJ, GSO, ABO) rather than relying on cherry-picking manual generation. The comprehensive experiments conducted on quantitative and qualitative comparisons of 3D controllability and generation quality demonstrate the strong generalization capacity of our proposed approach.

Improving 3D Finger Traits Recognition via Generalizable Neural Rendering

3D biometric techniques on finger traits have become a new trend and have demonstrated a powerful ability for recognition and anti-counterfeiting. Existing methods follow an explicit 3D pipeline that reconstructs the models first and then extracts features from 3D models. However, these explicit 3D methods suffer from the following problems: 1) Inevitable information dropping during 3D reconstruction; 2) Tight coupling between specific hardware and algorithm for 3D reconstruction. It leads us to a question: Is it indispensable to reconstruct 3D information explicitly in recognition tasks? Hence, we consider this problem in an implicit manner, leaving the nerve-wracking 3D reconstruction problem for learnable neural networks with the help of neural radiance fields (NeRFs). We propose FingerNeRF, a novel generalizable NeRF for 3D finger biometrics. To handle the shape-radiance ambiguity problem that may result in incorrect 3D geometry, we aim to involve extra geometric priors based on the correspondence of binary finger traits like fingerprints or finger veins. First, we propose a novel Trait Guided Transformer (TGT) module to enhance the feature correspondence with the guidance of finger traits. Second, we involve extra geometric constraints on the volume rendering loss with the proposed Depth Distillation Loss and Trait Guided Rendering Loss. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method on different modalities, we collect two new datasets: SCUT-Finger-3D with finger images and SCUT-FingerVein-3D with finger vein images. Moreover, we also utilize the UNSW-3D dataset with fingerprint images for evaluation. In experiments, our FingerNeRF can achieve 4.37% EER on SCUT-Finger-3D dataset, 8.12% EER on SCUT-FingerVein-3D dataset, and 2.90% EER on UNSW-3D dataset, showing the superiority of the proposed implicit method in 3D finger biometrics.

StyleDyRF: Zero-shot 4D Style Transfer for Dynamic Neural Radiance Fields

4D style transfer aims at transferring arbitrary visual style to the synthesized novel views of a dynamic 4D scene with varying viewpoints and times. Existing efforts on 3D style transfer can effectively combine the visual features of style images and neural radiance fields (NeRF) but fail to handle the 4D dynamic scenes limited by the static scene assumption. Consequently, we aim to handle the novel challenging problem of 4D style transfer for the first time, which further requires the consistency of stylized results on dynamic objects. In this paper, we introduce StyleDyRF, a method that represents the 4D feature space by deforming a canonical feature volume and learns a linear style transformation matrix on the feature volume in a data-driven fashion. To obtain the canonical feature volume, the rays at each time step are deformed with the geometric prior of a pre-trained dynamic NeRF to render the feature map under the supervision of pre-trained visual encoders. With the content and style cues in the canonical feature volume and the style image, we can learn the style transformation matrix from their covariance matrices with lightweight neural networks. The learned style transformation matrix can reflect a direct matching of feature covariance from the content volume to the given style pattern, in analogy with the optimization of the Gram matrix in traditional 2D neural style transfer. The experimental results show that our method not only renders 4D photorealistic style transfer results in a zero-shot manner but also outperforms existing methods in terms of visual quality and consistency.

B2N3D: Progressive Learning from Binary to N-ary Relationships for 3D Object Grounding

Localizing 3D objects using natural language is essential for robotic scene understanding. The descriptions often involve multiple spatial relationships to distinguish similar objects, making 3D-language alignment difficult. Current methods only model relationships for pairwise objects, ignoring the global perceptual significance of n-ary combinations in multi-modal relational understanding. To address this, we propose a novel progressive relational learning framework for 3D object grounding. We extend relational learning from binary to n-ary to identify visual relations that match the referential description globally. Given the absence of specific annotations for referred objects in the training data, we design a grouped supervision loss to facilitate n-ary relational learning. In the scene graph created with n-ary relationships, we use a multi-modal network with hybrid attention mechanisms to further localize the target within the n-ary combinations. Experiments and ablation studies on the ReferIt3D and ScanRefer benchmarks demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art, and proves the advantages of the n-ary relational perception in 3D localization.

Gesplat: Robust Pose-Free 3D Reconstruction via Geometry-Guided Gaussian Splatting

Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) have advanced 3D reconstruction and novel view synthesis, but remain heavily dependent on accurate camera poses and dense viewpoint coverage. These requirements limit their applicability in sparse-view settings, where pose estimation becomes unreliable and supervision is insufficient. To overcome these challenges, we introduce Gesplat, a 3DGS-based framework that enables robust novel view synthesis and geometrically consistent reconstruction from unposed sparse images. Unlike prior works that rely on COLMAP for sparse point cloud initialization, we leverage the VGGT foundation model to obtain more reliable initial poses and dense point clouds. Our approach integrates several key innovations: 1) a hybrid Gaussian representation with dual position-shape optimization enhanced by inter-view matching consistency; 2) a graph-guided attribute refinement module to enhance scene details; and 3) flow-based depth regularization that improves depth estimation accuracy for more effective supervision. Comprehensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves more robust performance on both forward-facing and large-scale complex datasets compared to other pose-free methods.

Instance-Aware Robust Consistency Regularization for Semi-Supervised Nuclei Instance Segmentation

Nuclei instance segmentation in pathological images is crucial for downstream tasks such as tumor microenvironment analysis. However, the high cost and scarcity of annotated data limit the applicability of fully supervised methods, while existing semi-supervised methods fail to adequately regularize consistency at the instance level, lack leverage of the inherent prior knowledge of pathological structures, and are prone to introducing noisy pseudo-labels during training. In this paper, we propose an Instance-Aware Robust Consistency Regularization Network (IRCR-Net) for accurate instance-level nuclei segmentation. Specifically, we introduce the Matching-Driven Instance-Aware Consistency (MIAC) and Prior-Driven Instance-Aware Consistency (PIAC) mechanisms to refine the nuclei instance segmentation result of the teacher and student subnetwork, particularly for densely distributed and overlapping nuclei. We incorporate morphological prior knowledge of nuclei in pathological images and utilize these priors to assess the quality of pseudo-labels generated from unlabeled data. Low-quality pseudo-labels are discarded, while high-quality predictions are enhanced to reduce pseudo-label noise and benefit the network's robust training. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly enhances semi-supervised nuclei instance segmentation performance across multiple public datasets compared to existing approaches, even surpassing fully supervised methods in some scenarios.

LSVG: Language-Guided Scene Graphs with 2D-Assisted Multi-Modal Encoding for 3D Visual Grounding

3D visual grounding aims to localize the unique target described by natural languages in 3D scenes. The significant gap between 3D and language modalities makes it a notable challenge to distinguish multiple similar objects through the described spatial relationships. Current methods attempt to achieve cross-modal understanding in complex scenes via a target-centered learning mechanism, ignoring the modeling of referred objects. We propose a novel 3D visual grounding framework that constructs language-guided scene graphs with referred object discrimination to improve relational perception. The framework incorporates a dual-branch visual encoder that leverages pre-trained 2D semantics to enhance and supervise the multi-modal 3D encoding. Furthermore, we employ graph attention to promote relationship-oriented information fusion in cross-modal interaction. The learned object representations and scene graph structure enable effective alignment between 3D visual content and textual descriptions. Experimental results on popular benchmarks demonstrate our superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods, especially in handling the challenges of multiple similar distractors.

A Novel Transfer Learning Method Utilizing Acoustic and Vibration Signals for Rotating Machinery Fault Diagnosis

Fault diagnosis of rotating machinery plays a important role for the safety and stability of modern industrial systems. However, there is a distribution discrepancy between training data and data of real-world operation scenarios, which causing the decrease of performance of existing systems. This paper proposed a transfer learning based method utilizing acoustic and vibration signal to address this distribution discrepancy. We designed the acoustic and vibration feature fusion MAVgram to offer richer and more reliable information of faults, coordinating with a DNN-based classifier to obtain more effective diagnosis representation. The backbone was pre-trained and then fine-tuned to obtained excellent performance of the target task. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, and achieved improved performance compared to STgram-MFN.

CostFormer:Cost Transformer for Cost Aggregation in Multi-view Stereo

The core of Multi-view Stereo(MVS) is the matching process among reference and source pixels. Cost aggregation plays a significant role in this process, while previous methods focus on handling it via CNNs. This may inherit the natural limitation of CNNs that fail to discriminate repetitive or incorrect matches due to limited local receptive fields. To handle the issue, we aim to involve Transformer into cost aggregation. However, another problem may occur due to the quadratically growing computational complexity caused by Transformer, resulting in memory overflow and inference latency. In this paper, we overcome these limits with an efficient Transformer-based cost aggregation network, namely CostFormer. The Residual Depth-Aware Cost Transformer(RDACT) is proposed to aggregate long-range features on cost volume via self-attention mechanisms along the depth and spatial dimensions. Furthermore, Residual Regression Transformer(RRT) is proposed to enhance spatial attention. The proposed method is a universal plug-in to improve learning-based MVS methods.

From Noise to Feature: Exploiting Intensity Distribution as a Novel Soft Biometric Trait for Finger Vein Recognition

Most finger vein feature extraction algorithms achieve satisfactory performance due to their texture representation abilities, despite simultaneously ignoring the intensity distribution that is formed by the finger tissue, and in some cases, processing it as background noise. In this paper, we exploit this kind of noise as a novel soft biometric trait for achieving better finger vein recognition performance. First, a detailed analysis of the finger vein imaging principle and the characteristics of the image are presented to show that the intensity distribution that is formed by the finger tissue in the background can be extracted as a soft biometric trait for recognition. Then, two finger vein background layer extraction algorithms and three soft biometric trait extraction algorithms are proposed for intensity distribution feature extraction. Finally, a hybrid matching strategy is proposed to solve the issue of dimension difference between the primary and soft biometric traits on the score level. A series of rigorous contrast experiments on three open-access databases demonstrates that our proposed method is feasible and effective for finger vein recognition.

Unconstrained Face Sketch Synthesis via Perception-Adaptive Network and A New Benchmark

Face sketch generation has attracted much attention in the field of visual computing. However, existing methods either are limited to constrained conditions or heavily rely on various preprocessing steps to deal with in-the-wild cases. In this paper, we argue that accurately perceiving facial region and facial components is crucial for unconstrained sketch synthesis. To this end, we propose a novel Perception-Adaptive Network (PANet), which can generate high-quality face sketches under unconstrained conditions in an end-to-end scheme. Specifically, our PANet is composed of i) a Fully Convolutional Encoder for hierarchical feature extraction, ii) a Face-Adaptive Perceiving Decoder for extracting potential facial region and handling face variations, and iii) a Component-Adaptive Perceiving Module for facial component aware feature representation learning. To facilitate further researches of unconstrained face sketch synthesis, we introduce a new benchmark termed WildSketch, which contains 800 pairs of face photo-sketch with large variations in pose, expression, ethnic origin, background, and illumination. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of achieving state-of-the-art performance under both constrained and unconstrained conditions. Digging into Uncertainty in Self-supervised Multi-view Stereo

Self-supervised Multi-view stereo (MVS) with a pretext task of image reconstruction has achieved significant progress recently. However, previous methods are built upon intuitions, lacking comprehensive explanations about the effectiveness of the pretext task in self-supervised MVS. To this end, we propose to estimate epistemic uncertainty in self-supervised MVS, accounting for what the model ignores. Specially, the limitations can be categorized into two types: ambiguious supervision in foreground and invalid supervision in background. To address these issues, we propose a novel Uncertainty reduction Multi-view Stereo (UMVS) framework for self-supervised learning. To alleviate ambiguous supervision in foreground, we involve extra correspondence prior with a flow-depth consistency loss. The dense 2D correspondence of optical flows is used to regularize the 3D stereo correspondence in MVS. To handle the invalid supervision in background, we use Monte-Carlo Dropout to acquire the uncertainty map and further filter the unreliable supervision signals on invalid regions. Extensive experiments on DTU and Tank&Temples benchmark show that our U-MVS framework achieves the best performance among unsupervised MVS methods, with competitive performance with its supervised opponents.

Self-supervised Multi-view Stereo via Effective Co-Segmentation and Data-Augmentation

Recent studies have witnessed that self-supervised methods based on view synthesis obtain clear progress on multi-view stereo (MVS). However, existing methods rely on the assumption that the corresponding points among different views share the same color, which may not always be true in practice. This may lead to unreliable self-supervised signal and harm the final reconstruction performance. To address the issue, we propose a framework integrated with more reliable supervision guided by semantic co-segmentation and data-augmentation. Specially, we excavate mutual semantic from multi-view images to guide the semantic consistency. And we devise effective data-augmentation mechanism which ensures the transformation robustness by treating the prediction of regular samples as pseudo ground truth to regularize the prediction of augmented samples. Experimental results on DTU dataset show that our proposed methods achieve the state-of-the-art performance among unsupervised methods, and even compete on par with supervised methods. Furthermore, extensive experiments on Tanks&Temples dataset demonstrate the effective generalization ability of the proposed method.

JGR-P2O: Joint Graph Reasoning based Pixel-to-Offset Prediction Network for 3D Hand Pose Estimation from a Single Depth Image

State-of-the-art single depth image-based 3D hand pose estimation methods are based on dense predictions, including voxel-to-voxel predictions, point-to-point regression, and pixel-wise estimations. Despite the good performance, those methods have a few issues in nature, such as the poor trade-off between accuracy and efficiency, and plain feature representation learning with local convolutions. In this paper, a novel pixel-wise prediction-based method is proposed to address the above issues. The key ideas are two-fold: a) explicitly modeling the dependencies among joints and the relations between the pixels and the joints for better local feature representation learning; b) unifying the dense pixel-wise offset predictions and direct joint regression for end-to-end training. Specifically, we first propose a graph convolutional network (GCN) based joint graph reasoning module to model the complex dependencies among joints and augment the representation capability of each pixel. Then we densely estimate all pixels' offsets to joints in both image plane and depth space and calculate the joints' positions by a weighted average over all pixels' predictions, totally discarding the complex postprocessing operations. The proposed model is implemented with an efficient 2D fully convolutional network (FCN) backbone and has only about 1.4M parameters. Extensive experiments on multiple 3D hand pose estimation benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed method achieves new state-of-the-art accuracy while running very efficiently with around a speed of 110fps on a single NVIDIA 1080Ti GPU.

Universal-RCNN: Universal Object Detector via Transferable Graph R-CNN

The dominant object detection approaches treat each dataset separately and fit towards a specific domain, which cannot adapt to other domains without extensive retraining. In this paper, we address the problem of designing a universal object detection model that exploits diverse category granularity from multiple domains and predict all kinds of categories in one system. Existing works treat this problem by integrating multiple detection branches upon one shared backbone network. However, this paradigm overlooks the crucial semantic correlations between multiple domains, such as categories hierarchy, visual similarity, and linguistic relationship. To address these drawbacks, we present a novel universal object detector called Universal-RCNN that incorporates graph transfer learning for propagating relevant semantic information across multiple datasets to reach semantic coherency. Specifically, we first generate a global semantic pool by integrating all high-level semantic representation of all the categories. Then an Intra-Domain Reasoning Module learns and propagates the sparse graph representation within one dataset guided by a spatial-aware GCN. Finally, an InterDomain Transfer Module is proposed to exploit diverse transfer dependencies across all domains and enhance the regional feature representation by attending and transferring semantic contexts globally. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms multiple-branch models and achieves the state-of-the-art results on multiple object detection benchmarks (mAP: 49.1% on COCO).
