3D Semantic Subspace Traverser: Empowering 3D Generative Model with Shape Editing Capability

Ruowei Wang, Yu Liu, Pei Su et al.

Shape generation is the practice of producing 3D shapes as various representations for 3D content creation. Previous studies on 3D shape generation have focused on shape quality and structure, without or less considering the importance of semantic information. Consequently, such generative models often fail to preserve the semantic consistency of shape structure or enable manipulation of the semantic attributes of shapes during generation. In this paper, we proposed a novel semantic generative model named 3D Semantic Subspace Traverser that utilizes semantic attributes for category-specific 3D shape generation and editing. Our method utilizes implicit functions as the 3D shape representation and combines a novel latent-space GAN with a linear subspace model to discover semantic dimensions in the local latent space of 3D shapes. Each dimension of the subspace corresponds to a particular semantic attribute, and we can edit the attributes of generated shapes by traversing the coefficients of those dimensions. Experimental results demonstrate that our method can produce plausible shapes with complex structures and enable the editing of semantic attributes. Pretrained Reversible Generation as Unsupervised Visual Representation Learning

Rongkun Xue, Jinouwen Zhang, Yazhe Niu et al.

Recent generative models based on score matching and flow matching have significantly advanced generation tasks, but their potential in discriminative tasks remains underexplored. Previous approaches, such as generative classifiers, have not fully leveraged the capabilities of these models for discriminative tasks due to their intricate designs. We propose Pretrained Reversible Generation (PRG), which extracts unsupervised representations by reversing the generative process of a pretrained continuous generation model. PRG effectively reuses unsupervised generative models, leveraging their high capacity to serve as robust and generalizable feature extractors for downstream tasks. This framework enables the flexible selection of feature hierarchies tailored to specific downstream tasks. Our method consistently outperforms prior approaches across multiple benchmarks, achieving state-of-the-art performance among generative model based methods, including 78% top-1 accuracy on ImageNet at a resolution of 64*64. Extensive ablation studies, including out-of-distribution evaluations, further validate the effectiveness of our approach.PRG is available at https://github.com/opendilab/PRG.

ARBiBench: Benchmarking Adversarial Robustness of Binarized Neural Networks

Peng Zhao, Jiehua Zhang, Bowen Peng et al.

Network binarization exhibits great potential for deployment on resource-constrained devices due to its low computational cost. Despite the critical importance, the security of binarized neural networks (BNNs) is rarely investigated. In this paper, we present ARBiBench, a comprehensive benchmark to evaluate the robustness of BNNs against adversarial perturbations on CIFAR-10 and ImageNet. We first evaluate the robustness of seven influential BNNs on various white-box and black-box attacks. The results reveal that 1) The adversarial robustness of BNNs exhibits a completely opposite performance on the two datasets under white-box attacks. 2) BNNs consistently exhibit better adversarial robustness under black-box attacks. 3) Different BNNs exhibit certain similarities in their robustness performance. Then, we conduct experiments to analyze the adversarial robustness of BNNs based on these insights. Our research contributes to inspiring future research on enhancing the robustness of BNNs and advancing their application in real-world scenarios.

GMP-AR: Granularity Message Passing and Adaptive Reconciliation for Temporal Hierarchy Forecasting

Fan Zhou, Chen Pan, Lintao Ma et al.

Time series forecasts of different temporal granularity are widely used in real-world applications, e.g., sales prediction in days and weeks for making different inventory plans. However, these tasks are usually solved separately without ensuring coherence, which is crucial for aligning downstream decisions. Previous works mainly focus on ensuring coherence with some straightforward methods, e.g., aggregation from the forecasts of fine granularity to the coarse ones, and allocation from the coarse granularity to the fine ones. These methods merely take the temporal hierarchical structure to maintain coherence without improving the forecasting accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel granularity message-passing mechanism (GMP) that leverages temporal hierarchy information to improve forecasting performance and also utilizes an adaptive reconciliation (AR) strategy to maintain coherence without performance loss. Furthermore, we introduce an optimization module to achieve task-based targets while adhering to more real-world constraints. Experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that our framework (GMP-AR) achieves superior performances on temporal hierarchical forecasting tasks compared to state-of-the-art methods. In addition, our framework has been successfully applied to a real-world task of payment traffic management in Alipay by integrating with the task-based optimization module.
