Unsupervised Pre-training for Temporal Action Localization Tasks

Unsupervised video representation learning has made remarkable achievements in recent years. However, most existing methods are designed and optimized for video classification. These pre-trained models can be sub-optimal for temporal localization tasks due to the inherent discrepancy between video-level classification and clip-level localization. To bridge this gap, we make the first attempt to propose a self-supervised pretext task, coined as Pseudo Action Localization (PAL) to Unsupervisedly Pre-train feature encoders for Temporal Action Localization tasks (UP-TAL). Specifically, we first randomly select temporal regions, each of which contains multiple clips, from one video as pseudo actions and then paste them onto different temporal positions of the other two videos. The pretext task is to align the features of pasted pseudo action regions from two synthetic videos and maximize the agreement between them. Compared to the existing unsupervised video representation learning approaches, our PAL adapts better to downstream TAL tasks by introducing a temporal equivariant contrastive learning paradigm in a temporally dense and scale-aware manner. Extensive experiments show that PAL can utilize large-scale unlabeled video data to significantly boost the performance of existing TAL methods. GroupToM-Bench: Benchmarking Group Theory of Mind and Nonlinear Social Emergence in MLLMs

True general intelligence requires not only a model of the physical world but also a social world model: the capacity to infer how individual mental states interact and crystallize into group-level outcomes. Despite notable progress in individual-level Theory of Mind (ToM) reasoning, existing multimodal large language models fail at this broader task. Collective behavior emerges non-linearly from social tensions, conformity dynamics, and structural constraints, meaning it cannot be recovered by merely summing individual intentions. We present GroupToM-Bench, the first multimodal benchmark for group-level ToM, built around a causal chain spanning micro-level BDI states (belief, desire, intention), meso-level group tension and structural constraints, and macro-level outcome prediction and mechanistic attribution. To probe this full arc, we develop a seven-level cognitive audit framework. Experiments reveal a gap between current models and human baselines, highlighting a failure to process social structures and non-linear collective dynamics.

GeT: Generative Target Structure Debiasing for Domain Adaptation

Domain adaptation (DA) aims to transfer knowledge from a fully labeled source to a scarcely labeled or totally unlabeled target under domain shift. Recently, semi-supervised learning-based (SSL) techniques that leverage pseudo labeling have been increasingly used in DA. Despite the competitive performance, these pseudo labeling methods rely heavily on the source domain to generate pseudo labels for the target domain and therefore still suffer considerably from source data bias. Moreover, class distribution bias in the target domain is also often ignored in the pseudo label generation and thus leading to further deterioration of performance. In this paper, we propose GeT that learns a non-bias target embedding distribution with high quality pseudo labels. Specifically, we formulate an online target generative classifier to induce the target distribution into distinctive Gaussian components weighted by their class priors to mitigate source data bias and enhance target class discriminability. We further propose a structure similarity regularization framework to alleviate target class distribution bias and further improve target class discriminability. Experimental results show that our proposed GeT is effective and achieves consistent improvements under various DA settings with and without class distribution bias. SCAPO: Self-Supervised Category-Level Articulated Pose Estimation from a Single 3D Observation

Existing methods for category-level object articulation from a single 3D observation often rely on dense supervision, multi-frame inputs, or CAD templates, and still struggle to disentangle geometry from articulation or to recover explicit joint parameters. We propose SCAPO, a self-supervised framework that estimates canonical geometry, rigid part segmentation, and joint pivots, axes, and articulation states from a single RGB-D observation without ground-truth labels or category-specific models. Our SCAPO first uses an SE(3)-equivariant vector-neuron autoencoder to factor out global pose and align diverse instances into a shared canonical space. On this aligned shape, a joint-aware blend-skinning module is then designed to model part motion. We learn this representation through cycle reconstruction between observed and canonical shapes and cross-space alignment with a learnable canonical template that decouples shared category geometry from instance-specific residual shape. Experiments on synthetic and real articulated-object datasets show that our SCAPO recovers consistent part structure and accurate articulation parameters and outperforms all self-supervised baselines.

LocVTP: Video-Text Pre-training for Temporal Localization

Video-Text Pre-training (VTP) aims to learn transferable representations for various downstream tasks from large-scale web videos. To date, almost all existing VTP methods are limited to retrieval-based downstream tasks, e.g., video retrieval, whereas their transfer potentials on localization-based tasks, e.g., temporal grounding, are under-explored. In this paper, we experimentally analyze and demonstrate the incompatibility of current VTP methods with localization tasks, and propose a novel Localization-oriented Video-Text Pre-training framework, dubbed as LocVTP. Specifically, we perform the fine-grained contrastive alignment as a complement to the coarse-grained one by a clip-word correspondence discovery scheme. To further enhance the temporal reasoning ability of the learned feature, we propose a context projection head and a temporal aware contrastive loss to perceive the contextual relationships. Extensive experiments on four downstream tasks across six datasets demonstrate that our LocVTP achieves state-of-the-art performance on both retrieval-based and localization-based tasks. Furthermore, we conduct comprehensive ablation studies and thorough analyses to explore the optimum model designs and training strategies.

3D-IDS: Doubly Disentangled Dynamic Intrusion Detection

Network-based intrusion detection system (NIDS) monitors network traffic for malicious activities, forming the frontline defense against increasing attacks over information infrastructures. Although promising, our quantitative analysis shows that existing methods perform inconsistently in declaring various unknown attacks (e.g., 9% and 35% F1 respectively for two distinct unknown threats for an SVM-based method) or detecting diverse known attacks (e.g., 31% F1 for the Backdoor and 93% F1 for DDoS by a GCN-based state-of-the-art method), and reveals that the underlying cause is entangled distributions of flow features. This motivates us to propose 3D-IDS, a novel method that aims to tackle the above issues through two-step feature disentanglements and a dynamic graph diffusion scheme. Specifically, we first disentangle traffic features by a non-parameterized optimization based on mutual information, automatically differentiating tens and hundreds of complex features of various attacks. Such differentiated features will be fed into a memory model to generate representations, which are further disentangled to highlight the attack-specific features. Finally, we use a novel graph diffusion method that dynamically fuses the network topology for spatial-temporal aggregation in evolving data streams. By doing so, we can effectively identify various attacks in encrypted traffics, including unknown threats and known ones that are not easily detected. Experiments show the superiority of our 3D-IDS. We also demonstrate that our two-step feature disentanglements benefit the explainability of NIDS.

Indeterminate Probability Theory

Complex continuous or mixed joint distributions (e.g., P(Y | z_1, z_2, ..., z_N)) generally lack closed-form solutions, often necessitating approximations such as MCMC. This paper proposes Indeterminate Probability Theory (IPT), which makes the following contributions: (1) An observer-centered framework in which experimental outcomes are represented as distributions combining ground truth with observation error; (2) The introduction of three independence candidate axioms that enable a two-phase probabilistic inference framework; (3) The derivation of closed-form solutions for arbitrary complex joint distributions under this framework. Both the Indeterminate Probability Neural Network (IPNN) model and the non-neural multivariate time series forecasting application demonstrate IPT's effectiveness in modeling high-dimensional distributions, with successful validation up to 1000 dimensions. Importantly, IPT is consistent with classical probability theory and subsumes the frequentist equation in the limit of vanishing observation error.

MLP-AMDC: An MLP Architecture for Adaptive-Mask-based Dual-Camera snapshot hyperspectral imaging

Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) system has great advantages over traditional methods in dynamically acquiring Hyper-Spectral Image (HSI), but there are the following problems. 1) Traditional mask relies on random patterns or analytical design, both of which limit the performance improvement of CASSI. 2) Existing high-quality reconstruction algorithms are slow in reconstruction and can only reconstruct scene information offline. To address the above two problems, this paper designs the AMDC-CASSI system, introducing RGB camera with CASSI based on Adaptive-Mask as multimodal input to improve the reconstruction quality. The existing SOTA reconstruction schemes are based on transformer, but the operation of self-attention pulls down the operation efficiency of the network. In order to improve the inference speed of the reconstruction network, this paper proposes An MLP Architecture for Adaptive-Mask-based Dual-Camera (MLP-AMDC) to replace the transformer structure of the network. Numerous experiments have shown that MLP performs no less well than transformer-based structures for HSI reconstruction, while MLP greatly improves the network inference speed and has less number of parameters and operations, our method has a 8 db improvement over SOTA and at least a 5-fold improvement in reconstruction speed. CA-UDA: Class-Aware Unsupervised Domain Adaptation with Optimal Assignment and Pseudo-Label Refinement

Recent works on unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) focus on the selection of good pseudo-labels as surrogates for the missing labels in the target data. However, source domain bias that deteriorates the pseudo-labels can still exist since the shared network of the source and target domains are typically used for the pseudo-label selections. The suboptimal feature space source-to-target domain alignment can also result in unsatisfactory performance. In this paper, we propose CA-UDA to improve the quality of the pseudo-labels and UDA results with optimal assignment, a pseudo-label refinement strategy and class-aware domain alignment. We use an auxiliary network to mitigate the source domain bias for pseudo-label refinement. Our intuition is that the underlying semantics in the target domain can be fully exploited to help refine the pseudo-labels that are inferred from the source features under domain shift. Furthermore, our optimal assignment can optimally align features in the source-to-target domains and our class-aware domain alignment can simultaneously close the domain gap while preserving the classification decision boundaries. Extensive experiments on several benchmark datasets show that our method can achieve state-of-the-art performance in the image classification task.

Improving Scene Graph Generation with Superpixel-Based Interaction Learning

Recent advances in Scene Graph Generation (SGG) typically model the relationships among entities utilizing box-level features from pre-defined detectors. We argue that an overlooked problem in SGG is the coarse-grained interactions between boxes, which inadequately capture contextual semantics for relationship modeling, practically limiting the development of the field. In this paper, we take the initiative to explore and propose a generic paradigm termed Superpixel-based Interaction Learning (SIL) to remedy coarse-grained interactions at the box level. It allows us to model fine-grained interactions at the superpixel level in SGG. Specifically, (i) we treat a scene as a set of points and cluster them into superpixels representing sub-regions of the scene. (ii) We explore intra-entity and cross-entity interactions among the superpixels to enrich fine-grained interactions between entities at an earlier stage. Extensive experiments on two challenging benchmarks (Visual Genome and Open Image V6) prove that our SIL enables fine-grained interaction at the superpixel level above previous box-level methods, and significantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods across all metrics. More encouragingly, the proposed method can be applied to boost the performance of existing box-level approaches in a plug-and-play fashion. In particular, SIL brings an average improvement of 2.0% mR (even up to 3.4%) of baselines for the PredCls task on Visual Genome, which facilitates its integration into any existing box-level method.

BrowseComp-ZH: Benchmarking Web Browsing Ability of Large Language Models in Chinese

As large language models (LLMs) evolve into tool-using agents, the ability to browse the web in real-time has become a critical yardstick for measuring their reasoning and retrieval competence. Existing benchmarks such as BrowseComp concentrate on English and overlook the linguistic, infrastructural, and censorship-related complexities of other major information ecosystems -- most notably Chinese. To address this gap, we introduce BrowseComp-ZH, a high-difficulty benchmark purpose-built to comprehensively evaluate LLM agents on the Chinese web. BrowseComp-ZH consists of 289 multi-hop questions spanning 11 diverse domains. Each question is reverse-engineered from a short, objective, and easily verifiable answer (e.g., a date, number, or proper noun). A two-stage quality control protocol is applied to strive for high question difficulty and answer uniqueness. We benchmark over 20 state-of-the-art language models and agentic search systems on our proposed BrowseComp-ZH. Despite their strong conversational and retrieval capabilities, most models struggle severely: a large number achieve accuracy rates below 10%, and only a handful exceed 20%. Even the best-performing system, OpenAI's DeepResearch, reaches just 42.9%. These results demonstrate the considerable difficulty of BrowseComp-ZH, where success demands not only effective retrieval strategies, but also sophisticated reasoning and information reconciliation -- capabilities that current models still struggle to master. Uncovering What, Why and How: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Causation Understanding of Video Anomaly

Video anomaly understanding (VAU) aims to automatically comprehend unusual occurrences in videos, thereby enabling various applications such as traffic surveillance and industrial manufacturing. While existing VAU benchmarks primarily concentrate on anomaly detection and localization, our focus is on more practicality, prompting us to raise the following crucial questions: "what anomaly occurred?", "why did it happen?", and "how severe is this abnormal event?". In pursuit of these answers, we present a comprehensive benchmark for Causation Understanding of Video Anomaly (CUVA). Specifically, each instance of the proposed benchmark involves three sets of human annotations to indicate the "what", "why" and "how" of an anomaly, including 1) anomaly type, start and end times, and event descriptions, 2) natural language explanations for the cause of an anomaly, and 3) free text reflecting the effect of the abnormality. In addition, we also introduce MMEval, a novel evaluation metric designed to better align with human preferences for CUVA, facilitating the measurement of existing LLMs in comprehending the underlying cause and corresponding effect of video anomalies. Finally, we propose a novel prompt-based method that can serve as a baseline approach for the challenging CUVA. Valley2: Exploring Multimodal Models with Scalable Vision-Language Design

Recently, vision-language models have made remarkable progress, demonstrating outstanding capabilities in various tasks such as image captioning and video understanding. We introduce Valley2, a novel multimodal large language model designed to enhance performance across all domains and extend the boundaries of practical applications in e-commerce and short video scenarios. Notably, Valley2 achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance on e-commerce benchmarks, surpassing open-source models of similar size by a large margin (79.66 vs. 72.76). Additionally, Valley2 ranks second on the OpenCompass leaderboard among models with fewer than 10B parameters, with an impressive average score of 67.4. GThinker: Towards General Multimodal Reasoning via Cue-Guided Rethinking

Despite notable advancements in multimodal reasoning, leading Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) still underperform on vision-centric multimodal reasoning tasks in general scenarios. This shortfall stems from their predominant reliance on logic- and knowledge-based slow thinking strategies, while effective for domains like math and science, fail to integrate visual information effectively during reasoning. Consequently, these models often fail to adequately ground visual cues, resulting in suboptimal performance in tasks that require multiple plausible visual interpretations and inferences. To address this, we present GThinker (General Thinker), a novel reasoning MLLM excelling in multimodal reasoning across general scenarios, mathematics, and science. GThinker introduces Cue-Rethinking, a flexible reasoning pattern that grounds inferences in visual cues and iteratively reinterprets these cues to resolve inconsistencies. Building on this pattern, we further propose a two-stage training pipeline, including pattern-guided cold start and incentive reinforcement learning, designed to enable multimodal reasoning capabilities across domains. Furthermore, to support the training, we construct GThinker-11K, comprising 7K high-quality, iteratively-annotated reasoning paths and 4K curated reinforcement learning samples, filling the data gap toward general multimodal reasoning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that GThinker achieves 81.5% on the challenging comprehensive multimodal reasoning benchmark M$^3$CoT, surpassing the latest O4-mini model. It also shows an average improvement of 2.1% on general scenario multimodal reasoning benchmarks, while maintaining on-par performance in mathematical reasoning compared to counterpart advanced reasoning models. CoSpace: Benchmarking Continuous Space Perception Ability for Vision-Language Models

Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have recently witnessed significant progress in visual comprehension. As the permitting length of image context grows, VLMs can now comprehend a broader range of views and spaces. Current benchmarks provide insightful analysis of VLMs in tasks involving complex visual instructions following, multi-image understanding and spatial reasoning. However, they usually focus on spatially irrelevant images or discrete images captured from varied viewpoints. The compositional characteristic of images captured from a static viewpoint remains underestimated. We term this characteristic as Continuous Space Perception. When observing a scene from a static viewpoint while shifting orientations, it produces a series of spatially continuous images, enabling the reconstruction of the entire space. In this paper, we present CoSpace, a multi-image visual understanding benchmark designed to assess the Continuous Space perception ability for VLMs. CoSpace contains 2,918 images and 1,626 question-answer pairs, covering seven types of tasks. We conduct evaluation across 19 proprietary and open-source VLMs. Results reveal that there exist pitfalls on the continuous space perception ability for most of the evaluated models, including proprietary ones. Interestingly, we find that the main discrepancy between open-source and proprietary models lies not in accuracy but in the consistency of responses. We believe that enhancing the ability of continuous space perception is essential for VLMs to perform effectively in real-world tasks and encourage further research to advance this capability.

Seed1.5-VL Technical Report

We present Seed1.5-VL, a vision-language foundation model designed to advance general-purpose multimodal understanding and reasoning. Seed1.5-VL is composed with a 532M-parameter vision encoder and a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) LLM of 20B active parameters. Despite its relatively compact architecture, it delivers strong performance across a wide spectrum of public VLM benchmarks and internal evaluation suites, achieving the state-of-the-art performance on 38 out of 60 public benchmarks. Moreover, in agent-centric tasks such as GUI control and gameplay, Seed1.5-VL outperforms leading multimodal systems, including OpenAI CUA and Claude 3.7. Beyond visual and video understanding, it also demonstrates strong reasoning abilities, making it particularly effective for multimodal reasoning challenges such as visual puzzles. We believe these capabilities will empower broader applications across diverse tasks. In this report, we mainly provide a comprehensive review of our experiences in building Seed1.5-VL across model design, data construction, and training at various stages, hoping that this report can inspire further research. Unleashing Perception-Time Scaling to Multimodal Reasoning Models

Recent advances in inference-time scaling, particularly those leveraging reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards, have substantially enhanced the reasoning capabilities of Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs). Inspired by this success, similar strategies have been applied to multimodal reasoning, yet their impact on visual perception remains unclear. To investigate this gap, we introduce DisTANCE, a perception-centric benchmark for visual estimation tasks. Evaluation results show that LVLMs exhibit limited estimation precision, and inference-time scaling offers only marginal gains. We attribute this to the fast perception paradigm of current LVLMs, where visual understanding is treated as a one-shot output without modeling the underlying perceptual process. To address this, we propose Perception-Time Scaling (PTS), a novel paradigm that encourages token-rich perception and decomposes complex perception problems into intermediate tractable sub-problems, thereby enabling perception to align with and benefit from inference-time scaling. Combined with reinforcement learning techniques, PTS significantly improves perception accuracy, raising high-precision performance on DisTANCE from 8.0% to 64.7%, and generalizes well to out-of-domain tasks. Surprisingly, even though PTS data are purely synthetic, combining them with math reasoning data yields consistent gains in both reasoning and real-world perception benchmarks. Further analysis reveals that PTS introduces more perception-related tokens and increases the model's attention to image tokens. Our code and data will be publicly released.

Latent Space Consistency for Sparse-View CT Reconstruction

Computed Tomography (CT) is a widely utilized imaging modality in clinical settings. Using densely acquired rotational X-ray arrays, CT can capture 3D spatial features. However, it is confronted with challenged such as significant time consumption and high radiation exposure. CT reconstruction methods based on sparse-view X-ray images have garnered substantial attention from researchers as they present a means to mitigate costs and risks. In recent years, diffusion models, particularly the Latent Diffusion Model (LDM), have demonstrated promising potential in the domain of 3D CT reconstruction. Nonetheless, due to the substantial differences between the 2D latent representation of X-ray modalities and the 3D latent representation of CT modalities, the vanilla LDM is incapable of achieving effective alignment within the latent space. To address this issue, we propose the Consistent Latent Space Diffusion Model (CLS-DM), which incorporates cross-modal feature contrastive learning to efficiently extract latent 3D information from 2D X-ray images and achieve latent space alignment between modalities. Experimental results indicate that CLS-DM outperforms classical and state-of-the-art generative models in terms of standard voxel-level metrics (PSNR, SSIM) on the LIDC-IDRI and CTSpine1K datasets. This methodology not only aids in enhancing the effectiveness and economic viability of sparse X-ray reconstructed CT but can also be generalized to other cross-modal transformation tasks, such as text-to-image synthesis. CoLA: Weakly-Supervised Temporal Action Localization with Snippet Contrastive Learning

Weakly-supervised temporal action localization (WS-TAL) aims to localize actions in untrimmed videos with only video-level labels. Most existing models follow the "localization by classification" procedure: locate temporal regions contributing most to the video-level classification. Generally, they process each snippet (or frame) individually and thus overlook the fruitful temporal context relation. Here arises the single snippet cheating issue: "hard" snippets are too vague to be classified. In this paper, we argue that learning by comparing helps identify these hard snippets and we propose to utilize snippet Contrastive learning to Localize Actions, CoLA for short. Specifically, we propose a Snippet Contrast (SniCo) Loss to refine the hard snippet representation in feature space, which guides the network to perceive precise temporal boundaries and avoid the temporal interval interruption. Besides, since it is infeasible to access frame-level annotations, we introduce a Hard Snippet Mining algorithm to locate the potential hard snippets. Substantial analyses verify that this mining strategy efficaciously captures the hard snippets and SniCo Loss leads to more informative feature representation. Extensive experiments show that CoLA achieves state-of-the-art results on THUMOS'14 and ActivityNet v1.2 datasets. CoLA code is publicly available at https://github.com/zhang-can/CoLA.

PAN: Towards Fast Action Recognition via Learning Persistence of Appearance

Efficiently modeling dynamic motion information in videos is crucial for action recognition task. Most state-of-the-art methods heavily rely on dense optical flow as motion representation. Although combining optical flow with RGB frames as input can achieve excellent recognition performance, the optical flow extraction is very time-consuming. This undoubtably will count against real-time action recognition. In this paper, we shed light on fast action recognition by lifting the reliance on optical flow. Our motivation lies in the observation that small displacements of motion boundaries are the most critical ingredients for distinguishing actions, so we design a novel motion cue called Persistence of Appearance (PA). In contrast to optical flow, our PA focuses more on distilling the motion information at boundaries. Also, it is more efficient by only accumulating pixel-wise differences in feature space, instead of using exhaustive patch-wise search of all the possible motion vectors. Our PA is over 1000x faster (8196fps vs. 8fps) than conventional optical flow in terms of motion modeling speed. To further aggregate the short-term dynamics in PA to long-term dynamics, we also devise a global temporal fusion strategy called Various-timescale Aggregation Pooling (VAP) that can adaptively model long-range temporal relationships across various timescales. We finally incorporate the proposed PA and VAP to form a unified framework called Persistent Appearance Network (PAN) with strong temporal modeling ability. Extensive experiments on six challenging action recognition benchmarks verify that our PAN outperforms recent state-of-the-art methods at low FLOPs. Non-Autoregressive Coarse-to-Fine Video Captioning

It is encouraged to see that progress has been made to bridge videos and natural language. However, mainstream video captioning methods suffer from slow inference speed due to the sequential manner of autoregressive decoding, and prefer generating generic descriptions due to the insufficient training of visual words (e.g., nouns and verbs) and inadequate decoding paradigm. In this paper, we propose a non-autoregressive decoding based model with a coarse-to-fine captioning procedure to alleviate these defects. In implementations, we employ a bi-directional self-attention based network as our language model for achieving inference speedup, based on which we decompose the captioning procedure into two stages, where the model has different focuses. Specifically, given that visual words determine the semantic correctness of captions, we design a mechanism of generating visual words to not only promote the training of scene-related words but also capture relevant details from videos to construct a coarse-grained sentence "template". Thereafter, we devise dedicated decoding algorithms that fill in the "template" with suitable words and modify inappropriate phrasing via iterative refinement to obtain a fine-grained description. Extensive experiments on two mainstream video captioning benchmarks, i.e., MSVD and MSR-VTT, demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance, generates diverse descriptions, and obtains high inference efficiency. XMusic: Towards a Generalized and Controllable Symbolic Music Generation Framework

In recent years, remarkable advancements in artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) have been achieved in the fields of image synthesis and text generation, generating content comparable to that produced by humans. However, the quality of AI-generated music has not yet reached this standard, primarily due to the challenge of effectively controlling musical emotions and ensuring high-quality outputs. This paper presents a generalized symbolic music generation framework, XMusic, which supports flexible prompts (i.e., images, videos, texts, tags, and humming) to generate emotionally controllable and high-quality symbolic music. XMusic consists of two core components, XProjector and XComposer. XProjector parses the prompts of various modalities into symbolic music elements (i.e., emotions, genres, rhythms and notes) within the projection space to generate matching music. XComposer contains a Generator and a Selector. The Generator generates emotionally controllable and melodious music based on our innovative symbolic music representation, whereas the Selector identifies high-quality symbolic music by constructing a multi-task learning scheme involving quality assessment, emotion recognition, and genre recognition tasks. In addition, we build XMIDI, a large-scale symbolic music dataset that contains 108,023 MIDI files annotated with precise emotion and genre labels. Objective and subjective evaluations show that XMusic significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art methods with impressive music quality. Leveraging Consistent Spatio-Temporal Correspondence for Robust Visual Odometry

Recent approaches to VO have significantly improved performance by using deep networks to predict optical flow between video frames. However, existing methods still suffer from noisy and inconsistent flow matching, making it difficult to handle challenging scenarios and long-sequence estimation. To overcome these challenges, we introduce Spatio-Temporal Visual Odometry (STVO), a novel deep network architecture that effectively leverages inherent spatio-temporal cues to enhance the accuracy and consistency of multi-frame flow matching. With more accurate and consistent flow matching, STVO can achieve better pose estimation through the bundle adjustment (BA). Specifically, STVO introduces two innovative components: 1) the Temporal Propagation Module that utilizes multi-frame information to extract and propagate temporal cues across adjacent frames, maintaining temporal consistency; 2) the Spatial Activation Module that utilizes geometric priors from the depth maps to enhance spatial consistency while filtering out excessive noise and incorrect matches. Our STVO achieves state-of-the-art performance on TUM-RGBD, EuRoc MAV, ETH3D and KITTI Odometry benchmarks. Notably, it improves accuracy by 77.8% on ETH3D benchmark and 38.9% on KITTI Odometry benchmark over the previous best methods.

IAAO: Interactive Affordance Learning for Articulated Objects in 3D Environments

This work presents IAAO, a novel framework that builds an explicit 3D model for intelligent agents to gain understanding of articulated objects in their environment through interaction. Unlike prior methods that rely on task-specific networks and assumptions about movable parts, our IAAO leverages large foundation models to estimate interactive affordances and part articulations in three stages. We first build hierarchical features and label fields for each object state using 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) by distilling mask features and view-consistent labels from multi-view images. We then perform object- and part-level queries on the 3D Gaussian primitives to identify static and articulated elements, estimating global transformations and local articulation parameters along with affordances. Finally, scenes from different states are merged and refined based on the estimated transformations, enabling robust affordance-based interaction and manipulation of objects. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Mitigating Cache Noise in Test-Time Adaptation for Large Vision-Language Models

Test-time adaptation (TTA) of visual language models has recently attracted significant attention as a solution to the performance degradation caused by distribution shifts in downstream tasks. However, existing cache-based TTA methods have certain limitations. They mainly rely on the accuracy of cached feature labels, and the presence of noisy pseudo-labels can cause these features to deviate from their true distribution. This makes cache retrieval methods based on similarity matching highly sensitive to outliers or extreme samples. Moreover, current methods lack effective mechanisms to model class distributions, which limits their ability to fully exploit the potential of cached information. To address these challenges, we introduce a comprehensive and reliable caching mechanism and propose a novel zero-shot TTA method called "Cache, Residual, Gaussian" (CRG). This method not only employs learnable residual parameters to better align positive and negative visual prototypes with text prototypes, thereby optimizing the quality of cached features, but also incorporates Gaussian Discriminant Analysis (GDA) to dynamically model intra-class feature distributions, further mitigating the impact of noisy features. Experimental results on 13 benchmarks demonstrate that CRG outperforms state-of-the-art TTA methods, showcasing exceptional robustness and adaptability.

econSG: Efficient and Multi-view Consistent Open-Vocabulary 3D Semantic Gaussians

The primary focus of most recent works on open-vocabulary neural fields is extracting precise semantic features from the VLMs and then consolidating them efficiently into a multi-view consistent 3D neural fields representation. However, most existing works over-trusted SAM to regularize image-level CLIP without any further refinement. Moreover, several existing works improved efficiency by dimensionality reduction of semantic features from 2D VLMs before fusing with 3DGS semantic fields, which inevitably leads to multi-view inconsistency. In this work, we propose econSG for open-vocabulary semantic segmentation with 3DGS. Our econSG consists of: 1) A Confidence-region Guided Regularization (CRR) that mutually refines SAM and CLIP to get the best of both worlds for precise semantic features with complete and precise boundaries. 2) A low dimensional contextual space to enforce 3D multi-view consistency while improving computational efficiency by fusing backprojected multi-view 2D features and follow by dimensional reduction directly on the fused 3D features instead of operating on each 2D view separately. Our econSG shows state-of-the-art performance on four benchmark datasets compared to the existing methods. Furthermore, we are also the most efficient training among all the methods.

Seeing is Believing? Mitigating OCR Hallucinations in Multimodal Large Language Models

Recent advancements in multimodal large language models have enhanced document understanding by integrating textual and visual information. However, existing models exhibit incompleteness within their paradigm in real-world scenarios, particularly under visual degradation. In such conditions, the current response paradigm often fails to adequately perceive visual degradation and ambiguity, leading to overreliance on linguistic priors or misaligned visual-textual reasoning. This difficulty in recognizing uncertainty frequently results in the generation of hallucinatory content, especially when a precise answer is not feasible. To better demonstrate and analyze this phenomenon and problem, we propose KIE-HVQA, the first benchmark dedicated to evaluating OCR hallucination in degraded document understanding. This dataset includes test samples spanning identity cards and invoices, with simulated real-world degradations for OCR reliability. This setup allows for evaluating models' capacity, under degraded input, to distinguish reliable visual information and answer accordingly, thereby highlighting the challenge of avoiding hallucination on uncertain data. To achieve vision-faithful reasoning and thereby avoid the aforementioned issues, we further introduce a GRPO-based framework featuring a novel reward mechanism. By incorporating a self-awareness of visual uncertainty and an analysis method that initiates refusal to answer to increase task difficulty within our supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning framework, we successfully mitigated hallucinations in ambiguous regions. Experiments on Qwen2.5-VL demonstrate that our 7B-parameter model achieves a 22\% absolute improvement in hallucination-free accuracy over GPT-4o on KIE-HVQA and there is no significant performance drop in standard tasks, highlighting both effectiveness and robustness.

Multi-Cache Enhanced Prototype Learning for Test-Time Generalization of Vision-Language Models

In zero-shot setting, test-time adaptation adjusts pre-trained models using unlabeled data from the test phase to enhance performance on unknown test distributions. Existing cache-enhanced TTA methods rely on a low-entropy criterion to select samples for prototype construction, assuming intra-class compactness. However, low-entropy samples may be unreliable under distribution shifts, and the resulting prototypes may not ensure compact intra-class distributions. This study identifies a positive correlation between cache-enhanced performance and intra-class compactness. Based on this observation, we propose a Multi-Cache enhanced Prototype-based Test-Time Adaptation (MCP) featuring three caches: an entropy cache for initializing prototype representations with low-entropy samples, an align cache for integrating visual and textual information to achieve compact intra-class distributions, and a negative cache for prediction calibration using high-entropy samples. We further developed MCP++, a framework incorporating cross-modal prototype alignment and residual learning, introducing prototype residual fine-tuning. Comparative and ablation experiments across 15 downstream tasks demonstrate that the proposed method and framework achieve state-of-the-art generalization performance. Exchange of Perspective Prompting Enhances Reasoning in Large Language Models

Large language models (LLMs) have made significant advancements in addressing diverse natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, their performance is often limited by inherent comprehension of problems. To address this limitation, we propose Exchange-of-Perspective (EoP), a novel framework designed to exchange perspectives across different definitions of problem, so that it can break the fixed mindset from any particular formulation of the question. We conducted extensive and comprehensive experiments on 8 benchmarks. The results show that EoP can significantly improve performance. For instance, compared to the non-commutative baseline PHP, with GPT-3.5-Turbo and EoP, we observe a 3.6% improvement on AQuA (60.6% to 64.2%), while GPT-4-powered EoP demonstrates a 7.7% overall accuracy enhancement on Math (53.9% to 61.6%) and a 3.5% improvement on OlympiadBench Maths (43.5% to 47.0%) when using Qwen-2.5-72b.

Cross-Modality Time-Variant Relation Learning for Generating Dynamic Scene Graphs

Dynamic scene graphs generated from video clips could help enhance the semantic visual understanding in a wide range of challenging tasks such as environmental perception, autonomous navigation, and task planning of self-driving vehicles and mobile robots. In the process of temporal and spatial modeling during dynamic scene graph generation, it is particularly intractable to learn time-variant relations in dynamic scene graphs among frames. In this paper, we propose a Time-variant Relation-aware TRansformer (TR$^2$), which aims to model the temporal change of relations in dynamic scene graphs. Explicitly, we leverage the difference of text embeddings of prompted sentences about relation labels as the supervision signal for relations. In this way, cross-modality feature guidance is realized for the learning of time-variant relations. Implicitly, we design a relation feature fusion module with a transformer and an additional message token that describes the difference between adjacent frames. Extensive experiments on the Action Genome dataset prove that our TR$^2$ can effectively model the time-variant relations. TR$^2$ significantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods under two different settings by 2.1% and 2.6% respectively.

SpatioTemporal Focus for Skeleton-based Action Recognition

Graph convolutional networks (GCNs) are widely adopted in skeleton-based action recognition due to their powerful ability to model data topology. We argue that the performance of recent proposed skeleton-based action recognition methods is limited by the following factors. First, the predefined graph structures are shared throughout the network, lacking the flexibility and capacity to model the multi-grain semantic information. Second, the relations among the global joints are not fully exploited by the graph local convolution, which may lose the implicit joint relevance. For instance, actions such as running and waving are performed by the co-movement of body parts and joints, e.g., legs and arms, however, they are located far away in physical connection. Inspired by the recent attention mechanism, we propose a multi-grain contextual focus module, termed MCF, to capture the action associated relation information from the body joints and parts. As a result, more explainable representations for different skeleton action sequences can be obtained by MCF. In this study, we follow the common practice that the dense sample strategy of the input skeleton sequences is adopted and this brings much redundancy since number of instances has nothing to do with actions. To reduce the redundancy, a temporal discrimination focus module, termed TDF, is developed to capture the local sensitive points of the temporal dynamics. MCF and TDF are integrated into the standard GCN network to form a unified architecture, named STF-Net. It is noted that STF-Net provides the capability to capture robust movement patterns from these skeleton topology structures, based on multi-grain context aggregation and temporal dependency. Extensive experimental results show that our STF-Net significantly achieves state-of-the-art results on three challenging benchmarks NTU RGB+D 60, NTU RGB+D 120, and Kinetics-skeleton.

MISS: Multi-Interest Self-Supervised Learning Framework for Click-Through Rate Prediction

CTR prediction is essential for modern recommender systems. Ranging from early factorization machines to deep learning based models in recent years, existing CTR methods focus on capturing useful feature interactions or mining important behavior patterns. Despite the effectiveness, we argue that these methods suffer from the risk of label sparsity (i.e., the user-item interactions are highly sparse with respect to the feature space), label noise (i.e., the collected user-item interactions are usually noisy), and the underuse of domain knowledge (i.e., the pairwise correlations between samples). To address these challenging problems, we propose a novel Multi-Interest Self-Supervised learning (MISS) framework which enhances the feature embeddings with interest-level self-supervision signals. With the help of two novel CNN-based multi-interest extractors,self-supervision signals are discovered with full considerations of different interest representations (point-wise and union-wise), interest dependencies (short-range and long-range), and interest correlations (inter-item and intra-item). Based on that, contrastive learning losses are further applied to the augmented views of interest representations, which effectively improves the feature representation learning. Furthermore, our proposed MISS framework can be used as an plug-in component with existing CTR prediction models and further boost their performances. Extensive experiments on three large-scale datasets show that MISS significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art models, by up to 13.55% in AUC, and also enjoys good compatibility with representative deep CTR models.

On Pursuit of Designing Multi-modal Transformer for Video Grounding

Video grounding aims to localize the temporal segment corresponding to a sentence query from an untrimmed video. Almost all existing video grounding methods fall into two frameworks: 1) Top-down model: It predefines a set of segment candidates and then conducts segment classification and regression. 2) Bottom-up model: It directly predicts frame-wise probabilities of the referential segment boundaries. However, all these methods are not end-to-end, i.e., they always rely on some time-consuming post-processing steps to refine predictions. To this end, we reformulate video grounding as a set prediction task and propose a novel end-to-end multi-modal Transformer model, dubbed as GTR. Specifically, GTR has two encoders for video and language encoding, and a cross-modal decoder for grounding prediction. To facilitate the end-to-end training, we use a Cubic Embedding layer to transform the raw videos into a set of visual tokens. To better fuse these two modalities in the decoder, we design a new Multi-head Cross-Modal Attention. The whole GTR is optimized via a Many-to-One matching loss. Furthermore, we conduct comprehensive studies to investigate different model design choices. Extensive results on three benchmarks have validated the superiority of GTR. All three typical GTR variants achieve record-breaking performance on all datasets and metrics, with several times faster inference speed.

Deep Motion Prior for Weakly-Supervised Temporal Action Localization

Weakly-Supervised Temporal Action Localization (WSTAL) aims to localize actions in untrimmed videos with only video-level labels. Currently, most state-of-the-art WSTAL methods follow a Multi-Instance Learning (MIL) pipeline: producing snippet-level predictions first and then aggregating to the video-level prediction. However, we argue that existing methods have overlooked two important drawbacks: 1) inadequate use of motion information and 2) the incompatibility of prevailing cross-entropy training loss. In this paper, we analyze that the motion cues behind the optical flow features are complementary informative. Inspired by this, we propose to build a context-dependent motion prior, termed as motionness. Specifically, a motion graph is introduced to model motionness based on the local motion carrier (e.g., optical flow). In addition, to highlight more informative video snippets, a motion-guided loss is proposed to modulate the network training conditioned on motionness scores. Extensive ablation studies confirm that motionness efficaciously models action-of-interest, and the motion-guided loss leads to more accurate results. Besides, our motion-guided loss is a plug-and-play loss function and is applicable with existing WSTAL methods. Without loss of generality, based on the standard MIL pipeline, our method achieves new state-of-the-art performance on three challenging benchmarks, including THUMOS'14, ActivityNet v1.2 and v1.3.

Long-Short Temporal Modeling for Efficient Action Recognition

Efficient long-short temporal modeling is key for enhancing the performance of action recognition task. In this paper, we propose a new two-stream action recognition network, termed as MENet, consisting of a Motion Enhancement (ME) module and a Video-level Aggregation (VLA) module to achieve long-short temporal modeling. Specifically, motion representations have been proved effective in capturing short-term and high-frequency action. However, current motion representations are calculated from adjacent frames, which may have poor interpretation and bring useless information (noisy or blank). Thus, for short-term motions, we design an efficient ME module to enhance the short-term motions by mingling the motion saliency among neighboring segments. As for long-term aggregations, VLA is adopted at the top of the appearance branch to integrate the long-term dependencies across all segments. The two components of MENet are complementary in temporal modeling. Extensive experiments are conducted on UCF101 and HMDB51 benchmarks, which verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed MENet.

SRF-Net: Selective Receptive Field Network for Anchor-Free Temporal Action Detection

Temporal action detection (TAD) is a challenging task which aims to temporally localize and recognize the human action in untrimmed videos. Current mainstream one-stage TAD approaches localize and classify action proposals relying on pre-defined anchors, where the location and scale for action instances are set by designers. Obviously, such an anchor-based TAD method limits its generalization capability and will lead to performance degradation when videos contain rich action variation. In this study, we explore to remove the requirement of pre-defined anchors for TAD methods. A novel TAD model termed as Selective Receptive Field Network (SRF-Net) is developed, in which the location offsets and classification scores at each temporal location can be directly estimated in the feature map and SRF-Net is trained in an end-to-end manner. Innovatively, a building block called Selective Receptive Field Convolution (SRFC) is dedicatedly designed which is able to adaptively adjust its receptive field size according to multiple scales of input information at each temporal location in the feature map. Extensive experiments are conducted on the THUMOS14 dataset, and superior results are reported comparing to state-of-the-art TAD approaches.

All You Need is a Second Look: Towards Arbitrary-Shaped Text Detection

Arbitrary-shaped text detection is a challenging task since curved texts in the wild are of the complex geometric layouts. Existing mainstream methods follow the instance segmentation pipeline to obtain the text regions. However, arbitraryshaped texts are difficult to be depicted through one single segmentation network because of the varying scales. In this paper, we propose a two-stage segmentation-based detector, termed as NASK (Need A Second looK), for arbitrary-shaped text detection. Compared to the traditional single-stage segmentation network, our NASK conducts the detection in a coarse-to-fine manner with the first stage segmentation spotting the rectangle text proposals and the second one retrieving compact representations. Specifically, NASK is composed of a Text Instance Segmentation (TIS) network (1st stage), a Geometry-aware Text RoI Alignment (GeoAlign) module, and a Fiducial pOint eXpression (FOX) module (2nd stage). Firstly, TIS extracts the augmented features with a novel Group Spatial and Channel Attention (GSCA) module and conducts instance segmentation to obtain rectangle proposals. Then, GeoAlign converts these rectangles into the fixed size and encodes RoI-wise feature representation. Finally, FOX disintegrates the text instance into serval pivotal geometrical attributes to refine the detection results. Extensive experimental results on three public benchmarks including Total-Text, SCUTCTW1500, and ICDAR 2015 verify that our NASK outperforms recent state-of-the-art methods.

RR-Net: Injecting Interactive Semantics in Human-Object Interaction Detection

Human-Object Interaction (HOI) detection devotes to learn how humans interact with surrounding objects. Latest end-to-end HOI detectors are short of relation reasoning, which leads to inability to learn HOI-specific interactive semantics for predictions. In this paper, we therefore propose novel relation reasoning for HOI detection. We first present a progressive Relation-aware Frame, which brings a new structure and parameter sharing pattern for interaction inference. Upon the frame, an Interaction Intensifier Module and a Correlation Parsing Module are carefully designed, where: a) interactive semantics from humans can be exploited and passed to objects to intensify interactions, b) interactive correlations among humans, objects and interactions are integrated to promote predictions. Based on modules above, we construct an end-to-end trainable framework named Relation Reasoning Network (abbr. RR-Net). Extensive experiments show that our proposed RR-Net sets a new state-of-the-art on both V-COCO and HICO-DET benchmarks and improves the baseline about 5.5% and 9.8% relatively, validating that this first effort in exploring relation reasoning and integrating interactive semantics has brought obvious improvement for end-to-end HOI detection.

Multi-Scale Cascading Network with Compact Feature Learning for RGB-Infrared Person Re-Identification

RGB-Infrared person re-identification (RGB-IR Re-ID) aims to match persons from heterogeneous images captured by visible and thermal cameras, which is of great significance in the surveillance system under poor light conditions. Facing great challenges in complex variances including conventional single-modality and additional inter-modality discrepancies, most of the existing RGB-IR Re-ID methods propose to impose constraints in image level, feature level or a hybrid of both. Despite the better performance of hybrid constraints, they are usually implemented with heavy network architecture. As a matter of fact, previous efforts contribute more as pioneering works in new cross-modal Re-ID area while leaving large space for improvement. This can be mainly attributed to: (1) lack of abundant person image pairs from different modalities for training, and (2) scarcity of salient modality-invariant features especially on coarse representations for effective matching. To address these issues, a novel Multi-Scale Part-Aware Cascading framework (MSPAC) is formulated by aggregating multi-scale fine-grained features from part to global in a cascading manner, which results in a unified representation containing rich and enhanced semantic features. Furthermore, a marginal exponential centre (MeCen) loss is introduced to jointly eliminate mixed variances from intra- and inter-modal examples. Cross-modality correlations can thus be efficiently explored on salient features for distinctive modality-invariant feature learning. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms all the state-of-the-art by a large margin.

Learning Representations for Predicting Future Activities

Foreseeing the future is one of the key factors of intelligence. It involves understanding of the past and current environment as well as decent experience of its possible dynamics. In this work, we address future prediction at the abstract level of activities. We propose a network module for learning embeddings of the environment's dynamics in a self-supervised way. To take the ambiguities and high variances in the future activities into account, we use a multi-hypotheses scheme that can represent multiple futures. We demonstrate the approach by classifying future activities on the Epic-Kitchens and Breakfast datasets. Moreover, we generate captions that describe the future activities

A LabVIEW based user-friendly X-ray phase-contrast imaging system software platform

X-ray phase-contrast imaging can provide greatly improved contrast over conventional absorption-based imaging for weakly absorbing samples, such as biological soft tissues and fibre composites. In this manuscript, we introduce an easy and fast way to develop a user-friendly software platform dedicated to the new grating-based X-ray phase-contrast imaging setup recently built at the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory of the University of Science and Technology of China. Unified management and control of 21 motorized positioning stages, of an ultra-precision piezoelectric translation stage and of the X-ray tube are achieved with this platform. The software package also covers the automatic image acquisition of the phase-stepping scanning with a flat panel detector. Moreover, a data post-processing module for signals retrieval and other custom features are in principle available. With a seamless integration of all necessary functions in a unique package, this software platform will greatly support the user activity during experimental runs.
