Unified Video-Action Joint Denoising for Dexterous Action and Data GenerationDingrui Wang, YuAn Wang, Jinkun Liu et al.
Recent world action models leverage video foundation models by aligning broad visual-dynamics priors with executable robot actions. We revisit this alignment from a distributional perspective. Existing formulations typically narrow the aligned prior into an observation-conditioned policy distribution over future actions. In contrast, we keep the distribution broader by modeling the joint space of interaction videos and executable hand trajectories under multiple conditioning regimes. We propose Donk, a unified video-action denoising model for dexterous hands. With language, an initial image, and the initial hand state, Donk samples future videos and bimanual MANO trajectories as an action policy. Without the image condition, the same denoising architecture samples paired video-action rollouts from a text-conditioned distribution, turning the aligned video prior into a data engine. Across action, video, and text-only generation evaluations, Donk improves dexterous trajectory accuracy, preserves strong video fidelity, and produces smooth text-conditioned action rollouts under the same unified training recipe.

Bridging the Detection-to-Abstention Gap in Reasoning Models under Insufficient InformationRenjie Gu, Jiaxu Li, Yihao Wang et al.
We highlight a failure mode of large reasoning models on questions with insufficient information: models may recognize that a problem is under-specified, yet still continue reasoning and produce unsupported final answers instead of abstaining. We formalize this mismatch as the detection-to-abstention gap, where detected insufficiency fails to translate into final abstention. This gap is especially concerning in high-risk domains such as medical AI, where answers based on incomplete evidence can be more harmful than refusal. To close this gap, we propose Judge-Then-Solve (JTS), a trajectory-level reasoning-control framework that trains models to make an explicit answerability commitment before solution generation. Rather than treating abstention as a final-answer style, JTS casts it as a control decision: the model either proceeds to solve or terminates early based on its answerability judgment. We instantiate this policy through supervised warm-up and missing-premise reinforcement learning with consistency and length-shaping rewards. Experiments on dense and MoE reasoning models show that JTS substantially improves reliable abstention across datasets and pushes Abstention@Detection (A@D) to near-saturation, indicating that models not only detect missing information but also act on that detection. By terminating unanswerable trajectories immediately after the answerability judgment, JTS reduces unnecessary reasoning and improves inference efficiency when continued deliberation would amplify unsupported assumptions. We also observe that missing-premise training can alter reasoning behavior on difficult but answerable problems, reducing unproductive self-reflection. These results suggest that abstention under insufficient information is a key form of reasoning control for deploying reasoning models safely and efficiently.

AdapMoE: Adaptive Sensitivity-based Expert Gating and Management for Efficient MoE InferenceShuzhang Zhong, Ling Liang, Yuan Wang et al.
Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models are designed to enhance the efficiency of large language models (LLMs) without proportionally increasing the computational demands. However, their deployment on edge devices still faces significant challenges due to high on-demand loading overheads from managing sparsely activated experts. This paper introduces AdapMoE, an algorithm-system co-design framework for efficient MoE inference. AdapMoE features adaptive expert gating and management to reduce the on-demand loading overheads. We observe the heterogeneity of experts loading across layers and tokens, based on which we propose a sensitivity-based strategy to adjust the number of activated experts dynamically. Meanwhile, we also integrate advanced prefetching and cache management techniques to further reduce the loading latency. Through comprehensive evaluations on various platforms, we demonstrate AdapMoE consistently outperforms existing techniques, reducing the average number of activated experts by 25% and achieving a 1.35x speedup without accuracy degradation. Focus on Query: Adversarial Mining Transformer for Few-Shot SegmentationYuan Wang, Naisong Luo, Tianzhu Zhang
Few-shot segmentation (FSS) aims to segment objects of new categories given only a handful of annotated samples. Previous works focus their efforts on exploring the support information while paying less attention to the mining of the critical query branch. In this paper, we rethink the importance of support information and propose a new query-centric FSS model Adversarial Mining Transformer (AMFormer), which achieves accurate query image segmentation with only rough support guidance or even weak support labels. The proposed AMFormer enjoys several merits. First, we design an object mining transformer (G) that can achieve the expansion of incomplete region activated by support clue, and a detail mining transformer (D) to discriminate the detailed local difference between the expanded mask and the ground truth. Second, we propose to train G and D via an adversarial process, where G is optimized to generate more accurate masks approaching ground truth to fool D. We conduct extensive experiments on commonly used Pascal-5i and COCO-20i benchmarks and achieve state-of-the-art results across all settings. In addition, the decent performance with weak support labels in our query-centric paradigm may inspire the development of more general FSS models. Restricted Black-box Adversarial Attack Against DeepFake Face SwappingJunhao Dong, Yuan Wang, Jianhuang Lai et al.
DeepFake face swapping presents a significant threat to online security and social media, which can replace the source face in an arbitrary photo/video with the target face of an entirely different person. In order to prevent this fraud, some researchers have begun to study the adversarial methods against DeepFake or face manipulation. However, existing works focus on the white-box setting or the black-box setting driven by abundant queries, which severely limits the practical application of these methods. To tackle this problem, we introduce a practical adversarial attack that does not require any queries to the facial image forgery model. Our method is built on a substitute model persuing for face reconstruction and then transfers adversarial examples from the substitute model directly to inaccessible black-box DeepFake models. Specially, we propose the Transferable Cycle Adversary Generative Adversarial Network (TCA-GAN) to construct the adversarial perturbation for disrupting unknown DeepFake systems. We also present a novel post-regularization module for enhancing the transferability of generated adversarial examples. To comprehensively measure the effectiveness of our approaches, we construct a challenging benchmark of DeepFake adversarial attacks for future development. Extensive experiments impressively show that the proposed adversarial attack method makes the visual quality of DeepFake face images plummet so that they are easier to be detected by humans and algorithms. Moreover, we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can be generalized to offer face image protection against various face translation methods.

A Multitask Diffusion Strategy with Optimized Inter-Cluster CooperationYuan Wang, Wee Peng Tay, Wuhua Hu
We consider a multitask estimation problem where nodes in a network are divided into several connected clusters, with each cluster performing a least-mean-squares estimation of a different random parameter vector. Inspired by the adapt-then-combine diffusion strategy, we propose a multitask diffusion strategy whose mean stability can be ensured whenever individual nodes are stable in the mean, regardless of the inter-cluster cooperation weights. In addition, the proposed strategy is able to achieve an asymptotically unbiased estimation, when the parameters have same mean. We also develop an inter-cluster cooperation weights selection scheme that allows each node in the network to locally optimize its inter-cluster cooperation weights. Numerical results demonstrate that our approach leads to a lower average steady-state network mean-square deviation, compared with using weights selected by various other commonly adopted methods in the literature.

Exploring Dual Encoder Architectures for Question AnsweringZhe Dong, Jianmo Ni, Daniel M. Bikel et al.
Dual encoders have been used for question-answering (QA) and information retrieval (IR) tasks with good results. Previous research focuses on two major types of dual encoders, Siamese Dual Encoder (SDE), with parameters shared across two encoders, and Asymmetric Dual Encoder (ADE), with two distinctly parameterized encoders. In this work, we explore different ways in which the dual encoder can be structured, and evaluate how these differences can affect their efficacy in terms of QA retrieval tasks. By evaluating on MS MARCO, open domain NQ and the MultiReQA benchmarks, we show that SDE performs significantly better than ADE. We further propose three different improved versions of ADEs by sharing or freezing parts of the architectures between two encoder towers. We find that sharing parameters in projection layers would enable ADEs to perform competitively with or outperform SDEs. We further explore and explain why parameter sharing in projection layer significantly improves the efficacy of the dual encoders, by directly probing the embedding spaces of the two encoder towers with t-SNE algorithm.

Memory-efficient Segmentation of High-resolution Volumetric MicroCT ImagesYuan Wang, Laura Blackie, Irene Miguel-Aliaga et al.
In recent years, 3D convolutional neural networks have become the dominant approach for volumetric medical image segmentation. However, compared to their 2D counterparts, 3D networks introduce substantially more training parameters and higher requirement for the GPU memory. This has become a major limiting factor for designing and training 3D networks for high-resolution volumetric images. In this work, we propose a novel memory-efficient network architecture for 3D high-resolution image segmentation. The network incorporates both global and local features via a two-stage U-net-based cascaded framework and at the first stage, a memory-efficient U-net (meU-net) is developed. The features learnt at the two stages are connected via post-concatenation, which further improves the information flow. The proposed segmentation method is evaluated on an ultra high-resolution microCT dataset with typically 250 million voxels per volume. Experiments show that it outperforms state-of-the-art 3D segmentation methods in terms of both segmentation accuracy and memory efficiency.

Topological Persistence Guided Knowledge Distillation for Wearable Sensor DataEun Som Jeon, Hongjun Choi, Ankita Shukla et al.
Deep learning methods have achieved a lot of success in various applications involving converting wearable sensor data to actionable health insights. A common application areas is activity recognition, where deep-learning methods still suffer from limitations such as sensitivity to signal quality, sensor characteristic variations, and variability between subjects. To mitigate these issues, robust features obtained by topological data analysis (TDA) have been suggested as a potential solution. However, there are two significant obstacles to using topological features in deep learning: (1) large computational load to extract topological features using TDA, and (2) different signal representations obtained from deep learning and TDA which makes fusion difficult. In this paper, to enable integration of the strengths of topological methods in deep-learning for time-series data, we propose to use two teacher networks, one trained on the raw time-series data, and another trained on persistence images generated by TDA methods. The distilled student model utilizes only the raw time-series data at test-time. This approach addresses both issues. The use of KD with multiple teachers utilizes complementary information, and results in a compact model with strong supervisory features and an integrated richer representation. To assimilate desirable information from different modalities, we design new constraints, including orthogonality imposed on feature correlation maps for improving feature expressiveness and allowing the student to easily learn from the teacher. Also, we apply an annealing strategy in KD for fast saturation and better accommodation from different features, while the knowledge gap between the teachers and student is reduced. Finally, a robust student model is distilled, which uses only the time-series data as an input, while implicitly preserving topological features.

Resilient Consensus Through Event-based CommunicationYuan Wang, Hideaki Ishii
We consider resilient versions of discrete-time multi-agent consensus in the presence of faulty or even malicious agents in the network. In particular, we develop event-triggered update rules which can mitigate the influence of the malicious agents and at the same time reduce the necessary communication. Each regular agent updates its state based on a given rule using its neighbors' information. Only when the triggering condition is satisfied, the regular agents send their current states to their neighbors. Otherwise, the neighbors will continue to use the state received the last time. Assuming that a bound on the number of malicious nodes is known, we propose two update rules with event-triggered communication. They follow the so-called mean subsequence reduced (MSR) type algorithms and ignore values received from potentially malicious neighbors. We provide full characterizations for the necessary connectivity in the network for the algorithms to perform correctly, which are stated in terms of the notion of graph robustness. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Razor SNN: Efficient Spiking Neural Network with Temporal EmbeddingsYuan Zhang, Jian Cao, Ling Zhang et al.
The event streams generated by dynamic vision sensors (DVS) are sparse and non-uniform in the spatial domain, while still dense and redundant in the temporal domain. Although spiking neural network (SNN), the event-driven neuromorphic model, has the potential to extract spatio-temporal features from the event streams, it is not effective and efficient. Based on the above, we propose an events sparsification spiking framework dubbed as Razor SNN, pruning pointless event frames progressively. Concretely, we extend the dynamic mechanism based on the global temporal embeddings, reconstruct the features, and emphasize the events effect adaptively at the training stage. During the inference stage, eliminate fruitless frames hierarchically according to a binary mask generated by the trained temporal embeddings. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our Razor SNN achieves competitive performance consistently on four events-based benchmarks: DVS 128 Gesture, N-Caltech 101, CIFAR10-DVS and SHD.

Beyond Land Surface Temperature: Explainable Spatial Machine Learning Reveals Urban Morphology Effects on Human-Centric Heat StressYuan Wang, Shengao Yi, Xiaojiang Li et al.
Heat exposure connects the built environment and public health, directly shaping the livability and sustainability of urban areas. Understanding the spatial heterogeneity of heat exposure and its drivers is vital for climate-adaptive urban planning. However, most planning-oriented studies rely on land surface temperature (LST), and whether LST adequately represents human heat exposure and how it differs from physiologically relevant heat stress remains insufficiently examined. Here, adopting Landsat-retrieved 30-m LST and GPU-accelerated 1-m universal thermal climate index (UTCI) in Singapore, this study establishes a comprehensive "Modeling-Comparing-Assessing" framework to systematically evaluate the spatial and mechanistic discrepancies between the two metrics. We further investigate pronounced non-stationary and threshold-based quantitative relationships of the two metrics with urban factors by employing a novel geographically weighted XGBoost (GW-XGBoost) and generalized additive model (GAM) workflow. Our results demonstrate notable discrepancies in spatial patterns of LST and UTCI, along with substantial spatial heterogeneity in how 2D and 3D urban factors impact these two thermal metrics, as revealed by explainable GW-XGBoost models (global out-of-bag R2 = 0.855 for LST and 0.905 for UTCI, respectively). Crucially, spatially explicit SHAP interprets that sky view factor plays a central role in explaining UTCI variability but exhibits a comparatively marginal independent contribution to LST, indicating that LST inadequately captures shading-driven and radiative processes governing actual human heat stress. Notably, SHAP-GAM analysis indicates that higher albedo is associated with increased UTCI. These novel findings provide evidence for integrating physiologically relevant thermal indices to inform targeted heat risk management and climate-adaptive urban planning.

A Fourier Neural Operator Approach for Modelling Exciton-Polariton Condensate SystemsYuan Wang, Surya T. Sathujoda, Krzysztof Sawicki et al.
A plethora of next-generation all-optical devices based on exciton-polaritons have been proposed in latest years, including prototypes of transistors, switches, analogue quantum simulators and others. However, for such systems consisting of multiple polariton condensates, it is still challenging to predict their properties in a fast and accurate manner. The condensate physics is conventionally described by Gross-Pitaevskii equations (GPEs). While GPU-based solvers currently exist, we propose a significantly more efficient machine-learning-based Fourier neural operator approach to find the solution to the GPE coupled with exciton rate equations, trained on both numerical and experimental datasets. The proposed method predicts solutions almost three orders of magnitude faster than CUDA-based solvers in numerical studies, maintaining the high degree of accuracy. Our method not only accelerates simulations but also opens the door to faster, more scalable designs for all-optical chips and devices, offering profound implications for quantum computing, neuromorphic systems, and beyond.

LENS: A Staged Design for Interaction Granularityin Sequential CTR PredictionYuan Wang, Yue Liu, Jun Zhang et al.
In sequential CTR prediction, a central design question is at what granularity the target should interact with the user behaviour sequence. Existing models mainly follow two routes. Raw-item architectures such as DIN let the target score each item in the sequence directly. This relies on well-trained item embeddings and becomes brittle for sparse items. Latent-query architectures such as HyFormer, MixFormer, and OneTrans build query representations by combining the target with other information. This is more robust across item-density regimes but blunter: target-specific control is diluted. We propose LENS to restore target-specific control within these coarser bottlenecks. LENS has two modules: a Target-Conditioned Query Gate (TCQG) for query activation and a Target-Conditioned Position Bias (TCPB) for history retrieval. We further introduce Query-Specific Position Bias (QueryPos), a simple static position-aware reference for latent-query backbones. Across three representative latent-query backbones and four datasets, the combined QueryPos+LENS design achieves positive total-gain point estimates in all twelve evaluated backbone--dataset cells. We also identify a density-dependent conditioning rule: as item density decreases, the optimal condition source shifts from item-only to item-plus-sequence.

Think, then Score: Decoupled Reasoning and Scoring for Video Reward ModelingYuan Wang, Ouxiang Li, Yulong Xu et al.
Recent advances in generative video models are increasingly driven by post-training and test-time scaling, both of which critically depend on the quality of video reward models (RMs). An ideal reward model should predict accurate rewards that align with human preferences across diverse scenarios. However, existing paradigms face a fundamental dilemma: \textit{Discriminative RMs} regress rewards directly on features extracted by multimodal large language models (MLLMs) without explicit reasoning, making them prone to shortcut learning and heavily reliant on massive data scaling for generalization. In contrast, \textit{Generative RMs} with Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning exhibit superior interpretability and generalization potential, as they leverage fine-grained semantic supervision to internalize the rationales behind human preferences. However, they suffer from inherent optimization bottlenecks due to the coupling of reasoning and scoring within a single autoregressive inference chain. To harness the generalization benefits of CoT reasoning while mitigating the training instability of coupled reasoning and scoring, we introduce DeScore, a training-efficient and generalizable video reward model. DeScore employs a decoupled ``think-then-score'' paradigm: an MLLM first generates an explicit CoT, followed by a dedicated discriminative scoring module consisting of a learnable query token and a regression head that predicts the final reward. DeScore is optimized via a two-stage framework: (1) a discriminative cold start incorporating a random mask mechanism to ensure robust scoring capabilities, and (2) a dual-objective reinforcement learning stage that independently refines CoT reasoning quality and calibrates the final reward, ensuring that higher-quality reasoning directly translates to superior model performance.

Enhancing Multi-Modal LLMs Reasoning via Difficulty-Aware Group NormalizationJinghan Li, Junfeng Fang, Jinda Lu et al.
Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) and Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) have significantly advanced the reasoning capabilities of large language models. Extending these methods to multimodal settings, however, faces a critical challenge: the instability of std-based normalization, which is easily distorted by extreme samples with nearly positive or negative rewards. Unlike pure-text LLMs, multimodal models are particularly sensitive to such distortions, as both perceptual and reasoning errors influence their responses. To address this, we characterize each sample by its difficulty, defined through perceptual complexity (measured via visual entropy) and reasoning uncertainty (captured by model confidence). Building on this characterization, we propose difficulty-aware group normalization (Durian), which re-groups samples by difficulty levels and shares the std within each group. Our approach preserves GRPO's intra-group distinctions while eliminating sensitivity to extreme cases, yielding significant performance gains across multiple multimodal reasoning benchmarks.

VisionReward: Fine-Grained Multi-Dimensional Human Preference Learning for Image and Video GenerationJiazheng Xu, Yu Huang, Jiale Cheng et al. · tsinghua
Visual generative models have achieved remarkable progress in synthesizing photorealistic images and videos, yet aligning their outputs with human preferences across critical dimensions remains a persistent challenge. Though reinforcement learning from human feedback offers promise for preference alignment, existing reward models for visual generation face limitations, including black-box scoring without interpretability and potentially resultant unexpected biases. We present VisionReward, a general framework for learning human visual preferences in both image and video generation. Specifically, we employ a hierarchical visual assessment framework to capture fine-grained human preferences, and leverages linear weighting to enable interpretable preference learning. Furthermore, we propose a multi-dimensional consistent strategy when using VisionReward as a reward model during preference optimization for visual generation. Experiments show that VisionReward can significantly outperform existing image and video reward models on both machine metrics and human evaluation. Notably, VisionReward surpasses VideoScore by 17.2% in preference prediction accuracy, and text-to-video models with VisionReward achieve a 31.6% higher pairwise win rate compared to the same models using VideoScore. Localization and Expansion: A Decoupled Framework for Point Cloud Few-shot Semantic SegmentationZhaoyang Li, Yuan Wang, Wangkai Li et al.
Point cloud few-shot semantic segmentation (PC-FSS) aims to segment targets of novel categories in a given query point cloud with only a few annotated support samples. The current top-performing prototypical learning methods employ prototypes originating from support samples to direct the classification of query points. However, the inherent fragility of point-level matching and the prevalent intra-class diversity pose great challenges to this cross-instance matching paradigm, leading to erroneous background activations or incomplete target excavation. In this work, we propose a simple yet effective framework in the spirit of Decoupled Localization and Expansion (DLE). The proposed DLE, including a structural localization module (SLM) and a self-expansion module (SEM), enjoys several merits. First, structural information is injected into the matching process through the agent-level correlation in SLM, and the confident target region can thus be precisely located. Second, more reliable intra-object similarity is harnessed in SEM to derive the complete target, and the conservative expansion strategy is introduced to reasonably constrain the expansion. Extensive experiments on two challenging benchmarks under different settings demonstrate that DLE outperforms previous state-of-the-art approaches by large margins.

GLM-4.5V and GLM-4.1V-Thinking: Towards Versatile Multimodal Reasoning with Scalable Reinforcement LearningGLM-V Team, Wenyi Hong, Wenmeng Yu et al.
We present GLM-4.1V-Thinking and GLM-4.5V, a family of vision-language models (VLMs) designed to advance general-purpose multimodal understanding and reasoning. In this report, we share our key findings in the development of the reasoning-centric training framework. We first develop a capable vision foundation model with significant potential through large-scale pre-training, which arguably sets the upper bound for the final performance. We then propose Reinforcement Learning with Curriculum Sampling (RLCS) to unlock the full potential of the model, leading to comprehensive capability enhancement across a diverse range of tasks, including STEM problem solving, video understanding, content recognition, coding, grounding, GUI-based agents, and long document interpretation. In a comprehensive evaluation across 42 public benchmarks, GLM-4.5V achieves state-of-the-art performance on nearly all tasks among open-source models of similar size, and demonstrates competitive or even superior results compared to closed-source models such as Gemini-2.5-Flash on challenging tasks including Coding and GUI Agents. Meanwhile, the smaller GLM-4.1V-9B-Thinking remains highly competitive-achieving superior results to the much larger Qwen2.5-VL-72B on 29 benchmarks. Can Multimodal Large Language Models Understand Pathologic Movements? A Pilot Study on Seizure SemiologyLina Zhang, Tonmoy Monsoor, Mehmet Efe Lorasdagi et al.
Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have demonstrated robust capabilities in recognizing everyday human activities, yet their potential for analyzing clinically significant involuntary movements in neurological disorders remains largely unexplored. This pilot study evaluates the capability of MLLMs for automated recognition of pathological movements in seizure videos. We assessed the zero-shot performance of state-of-the-art MLLMs on 20 ILAE-defined semiological features across 90 clinical seizure recordings. MLLMs outperformed fine-tuned Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Vision Transformer (ViT) baseline models on 13 of 18 features without task-specific training, demonstrating particular strength in recognizing salient postural and contextual features while struggling with subtle, high-frequency movements. Feature-targeted signal enhancement (facial cropping, pose estimation, audio denoising) improved performance on 10 of 20 features. Expert evaluation showed that 94.3 percent of MLLM-generated explanations for correctly predicted cases achieved at least 60 percent faithfulness scores, aligning with epileptologist reasoning. These findings demonstrate the potential of adapting general-purpose MLLMs for specialized clinical video analysis through targeted preprocessing strategies, offering a path toward interpretable, efficient diagnostic assistance. Data-Efficient RLVR via Off-Policy Influence GuidanceErle Zhu, Dazhi Jiang, Yuan Wang et al.
Data selection is a critical aspect of Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) for enhancing the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). Current data selection methods are largely heuristic-based, lacking theoretical guarantees and generalizability. This work proposes a theoretically-grounded approach using influence functions to estimate the contribution of each data point to the learning objective. To overcome the prohibitive computational cost of policy rollouts required for online influence estimation, we introduce an off-policy influence estimation method that efficiently approximates data influence using pre-collected offline trajectories. Furthermore, to manage the high-dimensional gradients of LLMs, we employ sparse random projection to reduce dimensionality and improve storage and computation efficiency. Leveraging these techniques, we develop \textbf{C}urriculum \textbf{R}L with \textbf{O}ff-\textbf{P}olicy \text{I}nfluence guidance (\textbf{CROPI}), a multi-stage RL framework that iteratively selects the most influential data for the current policy. Experiments on models up to 7B parameters demonstrate that CROPI significantly accelerates training. On a 1.5B model, it achieves a 2.66x step-level acceleration while using only 10\% of the data per stage compared to full-dataset training. Our results highlight the substantial potential of influence-based data selection for efficient RLVR.

UniVBench: Towards Unified Evaluation for Video Foundation ModelsJianhui Wei, Xiaotian Zhang, Yichen Li et al.
Video foundation models aim to integrate video understanding, generation, editing, and instruction following within a single framework, making them a central direction for next-generation multimodal systems. However, existing evaluation benchmarks remain fragmented and limited in scope, as they each target a single task, rely on task-specific metrics, and typically use short or simple video clips. As a result, they do not capture the unified capabilities that these models are designed to deliver. To address this gap, we introduce UniVBench, a benchmark purpose-built for evaluating video foundation models across four core abilities: video understanding, video generation, video editing, and a newly proposed task, video reconstruction, which assesses how faithfully a model can reproduce video content it has encountered. Our benchmark substantially expands the complexity of evaluation by incorporating 200 high-quality, diverse and multi-shot videos, each paired with detailed captions, multi-format editing instructions, and reference images. All videos are human-created and carefully validated, offering richer cinematic information than prior benchmarks. In addition, we develop a unified agentic evaluation system (UniV-Eval) that standardizes prompting, instruction parsing, and scoring across all tasks, enabling fair, scalable, and reproducible comparisons of unified video models. By grounding evaluation in instruction-based multi-shot video tasks, UniVBench provides the first framework for measuring the integrated capabilities that video foundation models aim to achieve. Extensive human annotations ensure our evaluation aligns with human judgment, enabling rigorous assessment and accelerating progress toward robust video intelligence.

Semantic-Enriched Latent Visual ReasoningTianrun Xu, Yue Sun, Qixun Wang et al.
Multimodal latent-space reasoning aims to replace explicit thinking with images by performing visual reasoning directly in a compact latent space. However, existing approaches largely rely on visual supervision and produce latent representations that lack sufficient semantic richness, limiting their ability to support diverse region-level reasoning tasks. In this work, we introduce Semantic-Enriched Latent Visual Reasoning (SLVR), a two-stage learning framework that enriches latent representations with attribute-level visual semantics and aligns them with diverse reasoning objectives. In the first stage, SLVR learns semantically enriched region-centric latents under fine-grained attribute supervision. In the second stage, we design Multi-query Group Relative Policy Optimization (M-GRPO) to align latent representations across multiple queries grounded in the same region. To support this framework, we construct SLV-Set, comprising approximately 400K region-level attribute annotations and 800K multi-query question answering samples, and introduce SV-QA, a benchmark that evaluates latent reasoning under semantic variation. Experiments demonstrate that SLVR improves the robustness and semantic consistency of latent visual reasoning compared to existing baselines.

SPEED: Scalable, Precise, and Efficient Concept Erasure for Diffusion ModelsOuxiang Li, Yuan Wang, Xinting Hu et al.
Erasing concepts from large-scale text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models has become increasingly crucial due to the growing concerns over copyright infringement, offensive content, and privacy violations. In scalable applications, fine-tuning-based methods are time-consuming to precisely erase multiple target concepts, while real-time editing-based methods often degrade the generation quality of non-target concepts due to conflicting optimization objectives. To address this dilemma, we introduce SPEED, an efficient concept erasure approach that directly edits model parameters. SPEED searches for a null space, a model editing space where parameter updates do not affect non-target concepts, to achieve scalable and precise erasure. To facilitate accurate null space optimization, we incorporate three complementary strategies: Influence-based Prior Filtering (IPF) to selectively retain the most affected non-target concepts, Directed Prior Augmentation (DPA) to enrich the filtered retain set with semantically consistent variations, and Invariant Equality Constraints (IEC) to preserve key invariants during the T2I generation process. Extensive evaluations across multiple concept erasure tasks demonstrate that SPEED consistently outperforms existing methods in non-target preservation while achieving efficient and high-fidelity concept erasure, successfully erasing 100 concepts within only 5 seconds. Exploiting Dynamic and Fine-grained Semantic Scope for Extreme Multi-label Text ClassificationYuan Wang, Huiling Song, Peng Huo et al.
Extreme multi-label text classification (XMTC) refers to the problem of tagging a given text with the most relevant subset of labels from a large label set. A majority of labels only have a few training instances due to large label dimensionality in XMTC. To solve this data sparsity issue, most existing XMTC methods take advantage of fixed label clusters obtained in early stage to balance performance on tail labels and head labels. However, such label clusters provide static and coarse-grained semantic scope for every text, which ignores distinct characteristics of different texts and has difficulties modelling accurate semantics scope for texts with tail labels. In this paper, we propose a novel framework TReaderXML for XMTC, which adopts dynamic and fine-grained semantic scope from teacher knowledge for individual text to optimize text conditional prior category semantic ranges. TReaderXML dynamically obtains teacher knowledge for each text by similar texts and hierarchical label information in training sets to release the ability of distinctly fine-grained label-oriented semantic scope. Then, TReaderXML benefits from a novel dual cooperative network that firstly learns features of a text and its corresponding label-oriented semantic scope by parallel Encoding Module and Reading Module, secondly embeds two parts by Interaction Module to regularize the text's representation by dynamic and fine-grained label-oriented semantic scope, and finally find target labels by Prediction Module. Experimental results on three XMTC benchmark datasets show that our method achieves new state-of-the-art results and especially performs well for severely imbalanced and sparse datasets.

Learning Transferable Temporal Primitives for Video Reasoning via Synthetic VideosSongtao Jiang, Sibo Song, Chenyi Zhou et al.
The transition from image to video understanding requires vision-language models (VLMs) to shift from recognizing static patterns to reasoning over temporal dynamics such as motion trajectories, speed changes, and state transitions. Yet current post-training methods fall short due to two critical limitations: (1) existing datasets often lack temporal-centricity, where answers can be inferred from isolated keyframes rather than requiring holistic temporal integration; and (2) training data generated by proprietary models contains systematic errors in fundamental temporal perception, such as confusing motion directions or misjudging speeds. We introduce SynRL, a post-training framework that teaches models temporal primitives, the fundamental building blocks of temporal understanding including direction, speed, and state tracking. Our key insight is that these abstract primitives, learned from programmatically generated synthetic videos, transfer effectively to real-world scenarios. We decompose temporal understanding into short-term perceptual primitives (speed, direction) and long-term cognitive primitives, constructing 7.7K CoT and 7K RL samples with ground-truth frame-level annotations through code-based video generation. Despite training on simple geometric shapes, SynRL achieves substantial improvements across 15 benchmarks spanning temporal grounding, complex reasoning, and general video understanding. Remarkably, our 7.7K synthetic CoT samples outperform Video-R1 with 165K real-world samples. We attribute this to fundamental temporal skills, such as tracking frame by frame changes and comparing velocity, that transfer effectively from abstract synthetic patterns to complex real-world scenarios. This establishes a new paradigm for video post-training: video temporal learning through carefully designed synthetic data provides a more cost efficient scaling path.

Precise, Fast, and Low-cost Concept Erasure in Value Space: Orthogonal Complement MattersYuan Wang, Ouxiang Li, Tingting Mu et al.
Recent success of text-to-image (T2I) generation and its increasing practical applications, enabled by diffusion models, require urgent consideration of erasing unwanted concepts, e.g., copyrighted, offensive, and unsafe ones, from the pre-trained models in a precise, timely, and low-cost manner. The twofold demand of concept erasure includes not only a precise removal of the target concept (i.e., erasure efficacy) but also a minimal change on non-target content (i.e., prior preservation), during generation. Existing methods face challenges in maintaining an effective balance between erasure efficacy and prior preservation, and they can be computationally costly. To improve, we propose a precise, fast, and low-cost concept erasure method, called Adaptive Value Decomposer (AdaVD), which is training-free. Our method is grounded in a classical linear algebraic operation of computing the orthogonal complement, implemented in the value space of each cross-attention layer within the UNet of diffusion models. We design a shift factor to adaptively navigate the erasure strength, enhancing effective prior preservation without sacrificing erasure efficacy. Extensive comparative experiments with both training-based and training-free state-of-the-art methods demonstrate that the proposed AdaVD excels in both single and multiple concept erasure, showing 2 to 10 times improvement in prior preservation than the second best, meanwhile achieving the best or near best erasure efficacy. Thinking in Text and Images: Interleaved Vision--Language Reasoning Traces for Long-Horizon Robot ManipulationJinkun Liu, Haohan Chi, Lingfeng Zhang et al.
Long-horizon robotic manipulation requires plans that are both logically coherent and geometrically grounded. Existing Vision-Language-Action policies usually hide planning in latent states or expose only one modality: text-only chain-of-thought encodes causal order but misses spatial constraints, while visual prediction provides geometric cues but often remains local and semantically underconstrained. We introduce Interleaved Vision--Language Reasoning (IVLR), a policy framework built around \trace{}, an explicit intermediate representation that alternates textual subgoals with visual keyframes over the full task horizon. At test time, a single native multimodal transformer self-generates this global semantic-geometric trace from the initial observation and instruction, caches it, and conditions a closed-loop action decoder on the trace, original instruction, and current observation. Because standard robot datasets lack such traces, we construct pseudo-supervision by temporally segmenting demonstrations and captioning each stage with a vision-language model. Across simulated benchmarks for long-horizon manipulation and visual distribution shift, \method{} reaches 95.5\% average success on LIBERO, including 92.4\% on LIBERO-Long, and 59.4\% overall success on SimplerEnv-WidowX. Ablations show that both modalities are necessary: without traces, LIBERO-Long success drops to 37.7\%; text-only and vision-only traces reach 62.0\% and 68.4\%, while the full interleaved trace reaches 92.4\%. Stress tests with execution perturbations and masked trace content show moderate degradation, suggesting that the trace can tolerate local corruption and moderate execution drift, but remains limited under stale or incorrect global plans.

Aging Aware Adaptive Voltage Scaling for Reliable and Efficient AI AcceleratorsTong Xie, Zuodong Zhang, Chao Yang et al.
Deep neural networks (DNNs) have showcased remarkable performance across various tasks and are widely deployed on AI accelerators fabricated in advanced technology nodes for efficiency. As aging effects become more pronounced, timing and voltage guardbands are increasingly applied. Aging-aware adaptive voltage scaling (AVS), which adjusts supply voltage based on on-chip aging scenarios, has emerged as a promising solution to avoid excessive guardbanding. However, conventional AVS techniques overlook the inherent resilience of DNNs and frequently raise the supply voltage unnecessarily, thereby exacerbating aging and increasing power consumption. To enable reliable and efficient AI inference with AVS, in this paper, we develop an accurate aging prediction framework that incorporates historical effects and iterative extrapolation for full-lifetime modeling. Building on this framework, we propose a fault-tolerant voltage scaling policy that exploits DNN resilience and defers voltage increases accordingly. Experiments show that our framework mitigates the pessimism of maximum-voltage baselines, reducing predicted threshold voltage shift (ΔVth) by 19.4% for PMOS and 19.1% for NMOS, respectively. Furthermore, evaluation on representative DNN workloads demonstrates that our optimization reduces aging degradation by up to 45.8% (NMOS) and 30.6% (PMOS) while achieving 14.0% average lifetime power savings compared to resilience-agnostic methods.

HG-PIPE: Vision Transformer Acceleration with Hybrid-Grained PipelineQingyu Guo, Jiayong Wan, Songqiang Xu et al.
Vision Transformer (ViT) acceleration with field programmable gate array (FPGA) is promising but challenging. Existing FPGA-based ViT accelerators mainly rely on temporal architectures, which process different operators by reusing the same hardware blocks and suffer from extensive memory access overhead. Pipelined architectures, either coarse-grained or fine-grained, unroll the ViT computation spatially for memory access efficiency. However, they usually suffer from significant hardware resource constraints and pipeline bubbles induced by the global computation dependency of ViT. In this paper, we introduce HG-PIPE, a pipelined FPGA accelerator for high-throughput and low-latency ViT processing. HG-PIPE features a hybrid-grained pipeline architecture to reduce on-chip buffer cost and couples the computation dataflow and parallelism design to eliminate the pipeline bubbles. HG-PIPE further introduces careful approximations to implement both linear and non-linear operators with abundant Lookup Tables (LUTs), thus alleviating resource constraints. On a ZCU102 FPGA, HG-PIPE achieves 2.78 times better throughput and 2.52 times better resource efficiency than the prior-art accelerators, e.g., AutoViTAcc. With a VCK190 FPGA, HG-PIPE realizes end-to-end ViT acceleration on a single device and achieves 7118 images/s, which is 2.81 times faster than a V100 GPU.

LightMamba: Efficient Mamba Acceleration on FPGA with Quantization and Hardware Co-designRenjie Wei, Songqiang Xu, Linfeng Zhong et al.
State space models (SSMs) like Mamba have recently attracted much attention. Compared to Transformer-based large language models (LLMs), Mamba achieves linear computation complexity with the sequence length and demonstrates superior performance. However, Mamba is hard to accelerate due to the scattered activation outliers and the complex computation dependency, rendering existing LLM accelerators inefficient. In this paper, we propose LightMamba that co-designs the quantization algorithm and FPGA accelerator architecture for efficient Mamba inference. We first propose an FPGA-friendly post-training quantization algorithm that features rotation-assisted quantization and power-of-two SSM quantization to reduce the majority of computation to 4-bit. We further design an FPGA accelerator that partially unrolls the Mamba computation to balance the efficiency and hardware costs. Through computation reordering as well as fine-grained tiling and fusion, the hardware utilization and memory efficiency of the accelerator get drastically improved. We implement LightMamba on Xilinx Versal VCK190 FPGA and achieve 4.65x to 6.06x higher energy efficiency over the GPU baseline. When evaluated on Alveo U280 FPGA, LightMamba reaches 93 tokens/s, which is 1.43x that of the GPU baseline. Our code is available at https://github.com/PKU-SEC-Lab/LightMamba.

FaithFusion: Harmonizing Reconstruction and Generation via Pixel-wise Information GainYuAn Wang, Xiaofan Li, Chi Huang et al.
In controllable driving-scene reconstruction and 3D scene generation, maintaining geometric fidelity while synthesizing visually plausible appearance under large viewpoint shifts is crucial. However, effective fusion of geometry-based 3DGS and appearance-driven diffusion models faces inherent challenges, as the absence of pixel-wise, 3D-consistent editing criteria often leads to over-restoration and geometric drift. To address these issues, we introduce \textbf{FaithFusion}, a 3DGS-diffusion fusion framework driven by pixel-wise Expected Information Gain (EIG). EIG acts as a unified policy for coherent spatio-temporal synthesis: it guides diffusion as a spatial prior to refine high-uncertainty regions, while its pixel-level weighting distills the edits back into 3DGS. The resulting plug-and-play system is free from extra prior conditions and structural modifications.Extensive experiments on the Waymo dataset demonstrate that our approach attains SOTA performance across NTA-IoU, NTL-IoU, and FID, maintaining an FID of 107.47 even at 6 meters lane shift. Bridging Large Language Models and Optimization: A Unified Framework for Text-attributed Combinatorial OptimizationXia Jiang, Yaoxin Wu, Yuan Wang et al.
To advance capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in solving combinatorial optimization problems (COPs), this paper presents the Language-based Neural COP Solver (LNCS), a novel framework that is unified for the end-to-end resolution of diverse text-attributed COPs. LNCS leverages LLMs to encode problem instances into a unified semantic space, and integrates their embeddings with a Transformer-based solution generator to produce high-quality solutions. By training the solution generator with conflict-free multi-task reinforcement learning, LNCS effectively enhances LLM performance in tackling COPs of varying types and sizes, achieving state-of-the-art results across diverse problems. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness and generalizability of the LNCS, highlighting its potential as a unified and practical framework for real-world COP applications.

Towards Proactive Personalization through Profile Customization for Individual Users in DialoguesXiaotian Zhang, Yuan Wang, Ruizhe Chen et al.
The deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs) in interactive systems necessitates a deep alignment with the nuanced and dynamic preferences of individual users. Current alignment techniques predominantly address universal human values or static, single-turn preferences, thereby failing to address the critical needs of long-term personalization and the initial user cold-start problem. To bridge this gap, we propose PersonalAgent, a novel user-centric lifelong agent designed to continuously infer and adapt to user preferences. PersonalAgent constructs and dynamically refines a unified user profile by decomposing dialogues into single-turn interactions, framing preference inference as a sequential decision-making task. Experiments show that PersonalAgent achieves superior performance over strong prompt-based and policy optimization baselines, not only in idealized but also in noisy conversational contexts, while preserving cross-session preference consistency. Furthermore, human evaluation confirms that PersonalAgent excels at capturing user preferences naturally and coherently. Our findings underscore the importance of lifelong personalization for developing more inclusive and adaptive conversational agents. Our code is available here.

MedResearcher-R1: Expert-Level Medical Deep Researcher via A Knowledge-Informed Trajectory Synthesis FrameworkAiling Yu, Lan Yao, Jingnan Liu et al.
Recent developments in Large Language Model (LLM)-based agents have shown impressive capabilities spanning multiple domains, exemplified by deep research systems that demonstrate superior performance on complex information-seeking and synthesis tasks. While general-purpose deep research agents have shown impressive capabilities, they struggle significantly with medical domain challenges, as evidenced by leading proprietary systems achieving limited accuracy on complex medical benchmarks. The key limitations are: (1) the model lacks sufficient dense medical knowledge for clinical reasoning, and (2) the framework is constrained by the absence of specialized retrieval tools tailored for medical contexts. We present a medical deep research agent that addresses these challenges through two core innovations. First, we develop a novel data synthesis framework using medical knowledge graphs, extracting the longest chains from subgraphs around rare medical entities to generate complex multi-hop question-answer pairs. Second, we integrate a custom-built private medical retrieval engine alongside general-purpose tools, enabling accurate medical information synthesis. Our approach generates 2100+ diverse trajectories across 12 medical specialties, each averaging 4.2 tool interactions. Through a two-stage training paradigm combining supervised fine-tuning and online reinforcement learning with composite rewards, our MedResearcher-R1-32B model demonstrates exceptional performance, establishing new state-of-the-art results on medical benchmarks while maintaining competitive performance on general deep research tasks. Our work demonstrates that strategic domain-specific innovations in architecture, tool design, and training data construction can enable smaller open-source models to outperform much larger proprietary systems in specialized domains.

Near-Optimal Resilient Aggregation Rules for Distributed Learning Using 1-Center and 1-Mean Clustering with OutliersYuhao Yi, Ronghui You, Hong Liu et al.
Byzantine machine learning has garnered considerable attention in light of the unpredictable faults that can occur in large-scale distributed learning systems. The key to secure resilience against Byzantine machines in distributed learning is resilient aggregation mechanisms. Although abundant resilient aggregation rules have been proposed, they are designed in ad-hoc manners, imposing extra barriers on comparing, analyzing, and improving the rules across performance criteria. This paper studies near-optimal aggregation rules using clustering in the presence of outliers. Our outlier-robust clustering approach utilizes geometric properties of the update vectors provided by workers. Our analysis show that constant approximations to the 1-center and 1-mean clustering problems with outliers provide near-optimal resilient aggregators for metric-based criteria, which have been proven to be crucial in the homogeneous and heterogeneous cases respectively. In addition, we discuss two contradicting types of attacks under which no single aggregation rule is guaranteed to improve upon the naive average. Based on the discussion, we propose a two-phase resilient aggregation framework. We run experiments for image classification using a non-convex loss function. The proposed algorithms outperform previously known aggregation rules by a large margin with both homogeneous and heterogeneous data distributions among non-faulty workers. Towards Effective and Sparse Adversarial Attack on Spiking Neural Networks via Breaking Invisible Surrogate GradientsLi Lun, Kunyu Feng, Qinglong Ni et al.
Spiking neural networks (SNNs) have shown their competence in handling spatial-temporal event-based data with low energy consumption. Similar to conventional artificial neural networks (ANNs), SNNs are also vulnerable to gradient-based adversarial attacks, wherein gradients are calculated by spatial-temporal back-propagation (STBP) and surrogate gradients (SGs). However, the SGs may be invisible for an inference-only model as they do not influence the inference results, and current gradient-based attacks are ineffective for binary dynamic images captured by the dynamic vision sensor (DVS). While some approaches addressed the issue of invisible SGs through universal SGs, their SGs lack a correlation with the victim model, resulting in sub-optimal performance. Moreover, the imperceptibility of existing SNN-based binary attacks is still insufficient. In this paper, we introduce an innovative potential-dependent surrogate gradient (PDSG) method to establish a robust connection between the SG and the model, thereby enhancing the adaptability of adversarial attacks across various models with invisible SGs. Additionally, we propose the sparse dynamic attack (SDA) to effectively attack binary dynamic images. Utilizing a generation-reduction paradigm, SDA can fully optimize the sparsity of adversarial perturbations. Experimental results demonstrate that our PDSG and SDA outperform state-of-the-art SNN-based attacks across various models and datasets. Specifically, our PDSG achieves 100% attack success rate on ImageNet, and our SDA obtains 82% attack success rate by modifying only 0.24% of the pixels on CIFAR10DVS. AiRacleX: Automated Detection of Price Oracle Manipulations via LLM-Driven Knowledge Mining and Prompt GenerationBo Gao, Yuan Wang, Qingsong Wei et al.
Decentralized finance (DeFi) applications depend on accurate price oracles to ensure secure transactions, yet these oracles are highly vulnerable to manipulation, enabling attackers to exploit smart contract vulnerabilities for unfair asset valuation and financial gain. Detecting such manipulations traditionally relies on the manual effort of experienced experts, presenting significant challenges. In this paper, we propose a novel LLM-driven framework that automates the detection of price oracle manipulations by leveraging the complementary strengths of different LLM models (LLMs). Our approach begins with domain-specific knowledge extraction, where an LLM model synthesizes precise insights about price oracle vulnerabilities from top-tier academic papers, eliminating the need for profound expertise from developers or auditors. This knowledge forms the foundation for a second LLM model to generate structured, context-aware chain of thought prompts, which guide a third LLM model in accurately identifying manipulation patterns in smart contracts. We validate the effectiveness of framework through experiments on 60 known vulnerabilities from 46 real-world DeFi attacks or projects spanning 2021 to 2023. The best performing combination of LLMs (Haiku-Haiku-4o-mini) identified by AiRacleX demonstrate a 2.58-times improvement in recall (0.667 vs 0.259) compared to the state-of-the-art tool GPTScan, while maintaining comparable precision. Furthermore, our framework demonstrates the feasibility of replacing commercial models with open-source alternatives, enhancing privacy and security for developers.

Hulu-Med: A Transparent Generalist Model towards Holistic Medical Vision-Language UnderstandingSongtao Jiang, Yuan Wang, Sibo Song et al.
Real-world clinical decision-making requires integrating heterogeneous data, including medical text, 2D images, 3D volumes, and videos, while existing AI systems fail to unify all these signals, limiting their utility. In this paper, we introduce Hulu-Med, a transparent, generalist medical Vision-Language Model (VLM) designed to unify language-only, 2D/3D vision-language, and video understanding within a single architecture. Hulu-Med is trained on a curated corpus of 16.7 million samples, comprising exclusively public or synthetic data, spanning 12 major anatomical systems and 14 medical imaging modalities. Hulu-Med employs a medical-aware token-reduction strategy that prunes redundant visual tokens, achieving up to a 55% reduction for 3D and video inputs, improving cross-modal efficiency, and enabling training at 7B-32B parameter scales in approximately 4,000-40,000 GPU hours. Across 30 public in-domain and out-of-domain medical benchmarks-covering text reasoning, visual question answering, report generation, multilingual dialogue, video understanding, and rare disease diagnosis-Hulu-Med surpasses existing open-source models on 27 of 30 benchmarks and outperforms proprietary systems such as GPT-4o on 16 benchmarks. Despite being a VLM, Hulu-Med outperforms GPT-4o and matches GPT-o1 on the text-only HealthBench. For the first time in the community, we provide a fully transparent, reproducible and cost-effective pipeline for holistic medical vision-language understanding by releasing our end-to-end data curation, training procedures, and model parameters. Golden Cudgel Network for Real-Time Semantic SegmentationGuoyu Yang, Yuan Wang, Daming Shi et al.
Recent real-time semantic segmentation models, whether single-branch or multi-branch, achieve good performance and speed. However, their speed is limited by multi-path blocks, and some depend on high-performance teacher models for training. To overcome these issues, we propose Golden Cudgel Network (GCNet). Specifically, GCNet uses vertical multi-convolutions and horizontal multi-paths for training, which are reparameterized into a single convolution for inference, optimizing both performance and speed. This design allows GCNet to self-enlarge during training and self-contract during inference, effectively becoming a "teacher model" without needing external ones. Experimental results show that GCNet outperforms existing state-of-the-art models in terms of performance and speed on the Cityscapes, CamVid, and Pascal VOC 2012 datasets. How Far Are Video Models from True Multimodal Reasoning?Xiaotian Zhang, Jianhui Wei, Yuan Wang et al.
Despite remarkable progress toward general-purpose video models, a critical question remains unanswered: how far are these models from achieving true multimodal reasoning? Existing benchmarks fail to address this question rigorously, as they remain constrained by straightforward task designs and fragmented evaluation metrics that neglect complex multimodal reasoning. To bridge this gap, we introduce CLVG-Bench, an evaluation framework designed to probe video models' zero-shot reasoning capabilities via Context Learning in Video Generation. CLVG-Bench comprises more than 1,000 high-quality, manually annotated metadata across 6 categories and 47 subcategories, covering complex scenarios including physical simulation, logical reasoning, and interactive contexts. To enable rigorous and scalable assessment, we further propose an Adaptive Video Evaluator (AVE) that aligns with human expert perception using minimal annotations, delivering interpretable textual feedback across diverse video context tasks. Extensive experiments reveal a striking answer to our central question: while state-of-the-art (SOTA) video models, such as Seedance 2.0, demonstrate competence on certain understanding and reasoning subtasks, they fall substantially short with logically grounded and interactive generation tasks (achieving success rates <25% and ~0%, respectively), exposing multimodal reasoning and physical grounding as critical bottlenecks. By systematically quantifying these limitations, the proposed method provides actionable feedbacks and a clear roadmap toward truly robust, general-purpose video models. Thinking with Frames: Generative Video Distortion Evaluation via Frame Reward ModelYuan Wang, Borui Liao, Huijuan Huang et al.
Recent advances in video reward models and post-training strategies have improved text-to-video (T2V) generation. While these models typically assess visual quality, motion quality, and text alignment, they often overlook key structural distortions, such as abnormal object appearances and interactions, which can degrade the overall quality of the generative video. To address this gap, we introduce REACT, a frame-level reward model designed specifically for structural distortions evaluation in generative videos. REACT assigns point-wise scores and attribution labels by reasoning over video frames, focusing on recognizing distortions. To support this, we construct a large-scale human preference dataset, annotated based on our proposed taxonomy of structural distortions, and generate additional data using a efficient Chain-of-Thought (CoT) synthesis pipeline. REACT is trained with a two-stage framework: ((1) supervised fine-tuning with masked loss for domain knowledge injection, followed by (2) reinforcement learning with Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) and pairwise rewards to enhance reasoning capability and align output scores with human preferences. During inference, a dynamic sampling mechanism is introduced to focus on frames most likely to exhibit distortion. We also present REACT-Bench, a benchmark for generative video distortion evaluation. Experimental results demonstrate that REACT complements existing reward models in assessing structutal distortion, achieving both accurate quantitative evaluations and interpretable attribution analysis.

Med-U1: Incentivizing Unified Medical Reasoning in LLMs via Large-scale Reinforcement LearningXiaotian Zhang, Yuan Wang, Zhaopeng Feng et al.
Medical Question-Answering (QA) encompasses a broad spectrum of tasks, including multiple choice questions (MCQ), open-ended text generation, and complex computational reasoning. Despite this variety, a unified framework for delivering high-quality medical QA has yet to emerge. Although recent progress in reasoning-augmented large language models (LLMs) has shown promise, their ability to achieve comprehensive medical understanding is still largely unexplored. In this paper, we present Med-U1, a unified framework for robust reasoning across medical QA tasks with diverse output formats, ranging from MCQs to complex generation and computation tasks. Med-U1 employs pure large-scale reinforcement learning with mixed rule-based binary reward functions, incorporating a length penalty to manage output verbosity. With multi-objective reward optimization, Med-U1 directs LLMs to produce concise and verifiable reasoning chains. Empirical results reveal that Med-U1 significantly improves performance across multiple challenging Med-QA benchmarks, surpassing even larger specialized and proprietary models. Furthermore, Med-U1 demonstrates robust generalization to out-of-distribution (OOD) tasks. Extensive analysis presents insights into training strategies, reasoning chain length control, and reward design for medical LLMs. Our code is available here.

Practical Framework for Privacy-Preserving and Byzantine-robust Federated LearningBaolei Zhang, Minghong Fang, Zhuqing Liu et al.
Federated Learning (FL) allows multiple clients to collaboratively train a model without sharing their private data. However, FL is vulnerable to Byzantine attacks, where adversaries manipulate client models to compromise the federated model, and privacy inference attacks, where adversaries exploit client models to infer private data. Existing defenses against both backdoor and privacy inference attacks introduce significant computational and communication overhead, creating a gap between theory and practice. To address this, we propose ABBR, a practical framework for Byzantine-robust and privacy-preserving FL. We are the first to utilize dimensionality reduction to speed up the private computation of complex filtering rules in privacy-preserving FL. Additionally, we analyze the accuracy loss of vector-wise filtering in low-dimensional space and introduce an adaptive tuning strategy to minimize the impact of malicious models that bypass filtering on the global model. We implement ABBR with state-of-the-art Byzantine-robust aggregation rules and evaluate it on public datasets, showing that it runs significantly faster, has minimal communication overhead, and maintains nearly the same Byzantine-resilience as the baselines.

Frequency-Enhanced Dual-Subspace Networks for Few-Shot Fine-Grained Image ClassificationMeijia Wang, Guochao Wang, Haozhen Chu et al.
Few-shot fine-grained image classification aims to recognize subcategories with high visual similarity using only a limited number of annotated samples. Existing metric learning-based methods typically rely solely on spatial domain features. Confined to this single perspective, models inevitably suffer from inherent texture biases, entangling essential structural details with high-frequency background noise. Furthermore, lacking cross-view geometric constraints, single-view metrics tend to overfit this noise, resulting in structural instability under few-shot conditions. To address these issues, this paper proposes the Frequency-Enhanced Dual-Subspace Network (FEDSNet). Specifically, FEDSNet utilizes the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and a low-pass filtering mechanism to explicitly isolate low-frequency global structural components from spatial features, thereby suppressing background interference. Truncated Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) is employed to construct independent, low-rank linear subspaces for both spatial texture and frequency structural features. An adaptive gating mechanism is designed to dynamically fuse the projection distances from these dual views. This strategy leverages the structural stability of the frequency subspace to prevent the spatial subspace from overfitting to background features. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets - CUB-200-2011, Stanford Cars, Stanford Dogs, and FGVC-Aircraft - demonstrate that FEDSNet exhibits excellent classification performance and robustness, achieving highly competitive results compared to existing metric learning algorithms. Complexity analysis further confirms that the proposed network achieves a favorable balance between high accuracy and computational efficiency, providing an effective new paradigm for few-shot fine-grained visual recognition.

Heterogeneity in Multi-Agent Reinforcement LearningTianyi Hu, Zhiqiang Pu, Yuan Wang et al.
Heterogeneity is a fundamental property in multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), which is closely related not only to the functional differences of agents, but also to policy diversity and environmental interactions. However, the MARL field currently lacks a rigorous definition and deeper understanding of heterogeneity. This paper systematically discusses heterogeneity in MARL from the perspectives of definition, quantification, and utilization. First, based on an agent-level modeling of MARL, we categorize heterogeneity into five types and provide mathematical definitions. Second, we define the concept of heterogeneity distance and propose a practical quantification method. Third, we design a heterogeneity-based multi-agent dynamic parameter sharing algorithm as an example of the application of our methodology. Case studies demonstrate that our method can effectively identify and quantify various types of agent heterogeneity. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm, compared to other parameter sharing baselines, has better interpretability and stronger adaptability. The proposed methodology will help the MARL community gain a more comprehensive and profound understanding of heterogeneity, and further promote the development of practical algorithms.

Empowering Large Language Model for Sequential Recommendation via Multimodal Embeddings and Semantic IDsYuhao Wang, Junwei Pan, Xinhang Li et al.
Sequential recommendation (SR) aims to capture users' dynamic interests and sequential patterns based on their historical interactions. Recently, the powerful capabilities of large language models (LLMs) have driven their adoption in SR. However, we identify two critical challenges in existing LLM-based SR methods: 1) embedding collapse when incorporating pre-trained collaborative embeddings and 2) catastrophic forgetting of quantized embeddings when utilizing semantic IDs. These issues dampen the model scalability and lead to suboptimal recommendation performance. Therefore, based on LLMs like Llama3-8B-instruct, we introduce a novel SR framework named MME-SID, which integrates multimodal embeddings and quantized embeddings to mitigate embedding collapse. Additionally, we propose a Multimodal Residual Quantized Variational Autoencoder (MM-RQ-VAE) with maximum mean discrepancy as the reconstruction loss and contrastive learning for alignment, which effectively preserve intra-modal distance information and capture inter-modal correlations, respectively. To further alleviate catastrophic forgetting, we initialize the model with the trained multimodal code embeddings. Finally, we fine-tune the LLM efficiently using LoRA in a multimodal frequency-aware fusion manner. Extensive experiments on three public datasets validate the superior performance of MME-SID thanks to its capability to mitigate embedding collapse and catastrophic forgetting. CookingDiffusion: Cooking Procedural Image Generation with Stable DiffusionYuan Wang, Bin Zhu, Yanbin Hao et al.
Recent advancements in text-to-image generation models have excelled in creating diverse and realistic images. This success extends to food imagery, where various conditional inputs like cooking styles, ingredients, and recipes are utilized. However, a yet-unexplored challenge is generating a sequence of procedural images based on cooking steps from a recipe. This could enhance the cooking experience with visual guidance and possibly lead to an intelligent cooking simulation system. To fill this gap, we introduce a novel task called \textbf{cooking procedural image generation}. This task is inherently demanding, as it strives to create photo-realistic images that align with cooking steps while preserving sequential consistency. To collectively tackle these challenges, we present \textbf{CookingDiffusion}, a novel approach that leverages Stable Diffusion and three innovative Memory Nets to model procedural prompts. These prompts encompass text prompts (representing cooking steps), image prompts (corresponding to cooking images), and multi-modal prompts (mixing cooking steps and images), ensuring the consistent generation of cooking procedural images. To validate the effectiveness of our approach, we preprocess the YouCookII dataset, establishing a new benchmark. Our experimental results demonstrate that our model excels at generating high-quality cooking procedural images with remarkable consistency across sequential cooking steps, as measured by both the FID and the proposed Average Procedure Consistency metrics. Furthermore, CookingDiffusion demonstrates the ability to manipulate ingredients and cooking methods in a recipe. We will make our code, models, and dataset publicly accessible.

Video4Edit: Viewing Image Editing as a Degenerate Temporal ProcessXiaofan Li, Yanpeng Sun, Chenming Wu et al.
We observe that recent advances in multimodal foundation models have propelled instruction-driven image generation and editing into a genuinely cross-modal, cooperative regime. Nevertheless, state-of-the-art editing pipelines remain costly: beyond training large diffusion/flow models, they require curating massive high-quality triplets of \{instruction, source image, edited image\} to cover diverse user intents. Moreover, the fidelity of visual replacements hinges on how precisely the instruction references the target semantics. We revisit this challenge through the lens of temporal modeling: if video can be regarded as a full temporal process, then image editing can be seen as a degenerate temporal process. This perspective allows us to transfer single-frame evolution priors from video pre-training, enabling a highly data-efficient fine-tuning regime. Empirically, our approach matches the performance of leading open-source baselines while using only about one percent of the supervision demanded by mainstream editing models.

Unreal-MAP: Unreal-Engine-Based General Platform for Multi-Agent Reinforcement LearningTianyi Hu, Qingxu Fu, Zhiqiang Pu et al.
In this paper, we propose Unreal Multi-Agent Playground (Unreal-MAP), an MARL general platform based on the Unreal-Engine (UE). Unreal-MAP allows users to freely create multi-agent tasks using the vast visual and physical resources available in the UE community, and deploy state-of-the-art (SOTA) MARL algorithms within them. Unreal-MAP is user-friendly in terms of deployment, modification, and visualization, and all its components are open-source. We also develop an experimental framework compatible with algorithms ranging from rule-based to learning-based provided by third-party frameworks. Lastly, we deploy several SOTA algorithms in example tasks developed via Unreal-MAP, and conduct corresponding experimental analyses. We believe Unreal-MAP can play an important role in the MARL field by closely integrating existing algorithms with user-customized tasks, thus advancing the field of MARL.
