GPGait: Generalized Pose-based Gait Recognition

Recent works on pose-based gait recognition have demonstrated the potential of using such simple information to achieve results comparable to silhouette-based methods. However, the generalization ability of pose-based methods on different datasets is undesirably inferior to that of silhouette-based ones, which has received little attention but hinders the application of these methods in real-world scenarios. To improve the generalization ability of pose-based methods across datasets, we propose a \textbf{G}eneralized \textbf{P}ose-based \textbf{Gait} recognition (\textbf{GPGait}) framework. First, a Human-Oriented Transformation (HOT) and a series of Human-Oriented Descriptors (HOD) are proposed to obtain a unified pose representation with discriminative multi-features. Then, given the slight variations in the unified representation after HOT and HOD, it becomes crucial for the network to extract local-global relationships between the keypoints. To this end, a Part-Aware Graph Convolutional Network (PAGCN) is proposed to enable efficient graph partition and local-global spatial feature extraction. Experiments on four public gait recognition datasets, CASIA-B, OUMVLP-Pose, Gait3D and GREW, show that our model demonstrates better and more stable cross-domain capabilities compared to existing skeleton-based methods, achieving comparable recognition results to silhouette-based ones. MonoNeRF: Learning Generalizable NeRFs from Monocular Videos without Camera Pose

We propose a generalizable neural radiance fields - MonoNeRF, that can be trained on large-scale monocular videos of moving in static scenes without any ground-truth annotations of depth and camera poses. MonoNeRF follows an Autoencoder-based architecture, where the encoder estimates the monocular depth and the camera pose, and the decoder constructs a Multiplane NeRF representation based on the depth encoder feature, and renders the input frames with the estimated camera. The learning is supervised by the reconstruction error. Once the model is learned, it can be applied to multiple applications including depth estimation, camera pose estimation, and single-image novel view synthesis. Self-Supervised Geometric Correspondence for Category-Level 6D Object Pose Estimation in the Wild

While 6D object pose estimation has wide applications across computer vision and robotics, it remains far from being solved due to the lack of annotations. The problem becomes even more challenging when moving to category-level 6D pose, which requires generalization to unseen instances. Current approaches are restricted by leveraging annotations from simulation or collected from humans. In this paper, we overcome this barrier by introducing a self-supervised learning approach trained directly on large-scale real-world object videos for category-level 6D pose estimation in the wild. Our framework reconstructs the canonical 3D shape of an object category and learns dense correspondences between input images and the canonical shape via surface embedding. For training, we propose novel geometrical cycle-consistency losses which construct cycles across 2D-3D spaces, across different instances and different time steps. The learned correspondence can be applied for 6D pose estimation and other downstream tasks such as keypoint transfer. Surprisingly, our method, without any human annotations or simulators, can achieve on-par or even better performance than previous supervised or semi-supervised methods on in-the-wild images. Category-Level 6D Object Pose Estimation in the Wild: A Semi-Supervised Learning Approach and A New Dataset

6D object pose estimation is one of the fundamental problems in computer vision and robotics research. While a lot of recent efforts have been made on generalizing pose estimation to novel object instances within the same category, namely category-level 6D pose estimation, it is still restricted in constrained environments given the limited number of annotated data. In this paper, we collect Wild6D, a new unlabeled RGBD object video dataset with diverse instances and backgrounds. We utilize this data to generalize category-level 6D object pose estimation in the wild with semi-supervised learning. We propose a new model, called Rendering for Pose estimation network RePoNet, that is jointly trained using the free ground-truths with the synthetic data, and a silhouette matching objective function on the real-world data. Without using any 3D annotations on real data, our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the previous dataset and our Wild6D test set (with manual annotations for evaluation) by a large margin. Grounded 3D-Aware Spatial Vision-Language Modeling

We present GR3D, a spatial vision language model equipped with three complementary grounding capabilities--explicit 2D grounding, implicit 2D grounding, and monocular 3D grounding--within a single framework. GR3D introduces an implicit grounding mechanism that identifies entity mentions during generation and inserts the corresponding region tokens into the text stream, allowing the model to reference visual evidence on the fly when producing spatial chain-of-thought responses. In parallel, a region-prompted monocular 3D grounding design predicts 3D bounding boxes in the camera view from grounded region queries, supported by intrinsic-aware normalization and dense geometric supervision. Together, these grounding capabilities enable GR3D to decompose complex spatial understanding problems into grounded 2D perception followed by 3D inference. GR3D achieves consistent improvements across grounded and non-grounded spatial benchmarks, demonstrating grounding as an effective inductive bias for strengthening spatial understanding in VLMs. These grounding capabilities collectively enhance general spatial understanding beyond the grounding task itself.

3D Reconstruction with Generalizable Neural Fields using Scene Priors

High-fidelity 3D scene reconstruction has been substantially advanced by recent progress in neural fields. However, most existing methods train a separate network from scratch for each individual scene. This is not scalable, inefficient, and unable to yield good results given limited views. While learning-based multi-view stereo methods alleviate this issue to some extent, their multi-view setting makes it less flexible to scale up and to broad applications. Instead, we introduce training generalizable Neural Fields incorporating scene Priors (NFPs). The NFP network maps any single-view RGB-D image into signed distance and radiance values. A complete scene can be reconstructed by merging individual frames in the volumetric space WITHOUT a fusion module, which provides better flexibility. The scene priors can be trained on large-scale datasets, allowing for fast adaptation to the reconstruction of a new scene with fewer views. NFP not only demonstrates SOTA scene reconstruction performance and efficiency, but it also supports single-image novel-view synthesis, which is underexplored in neural fields. Uniboost: Global Coordination with Value Alignment for Fair and Efficient Traffic Allocation

With the rapid evolution of internet services, recommendation systems have become indispensable. In particular, the blending (re-ranking) stage plays a pivotal role in allocating traffic across diverse business objectives. However, existing approaches often suffer from coupled allocation plans, score inflation, and a lack of interpretability. To address these challenges, we propose Uniboost, a unified traffic allocation framework. Uniboost introduces a posterior value alignment mechanism that calibrates abstract model scores to anchor metrics with explicit business semantics, significantly enhancing interpretability. Furthermore, it employs an independent linear boosting paradigm to decouple complex weighting schemes, enabling precise attribution of each plan's contribution. We validate the effectiveness of Uniboost through online A/B tests and in-depth data analysis, demonstrating three key findings: 1) Reducing the overall weight of weighted scores effectively mitigates unintended business interference, yielding a more efficient micro-level traffic allocation strategy; 2) Post-hoc analyses and aggregated dashboards provide intuitive, macro-level insights that guide the design of the overall traffic allocation mechanism; 3) The proposed "Effective Completion Score" serves as an easily obtainable post-metric that offers a reliable anchor for content recommendation pipelines. Collectively, our experiments show that Uniboost not only improves traffic allocation efficiency and recommendation performance at the micro level but also provides macro-level guidance for system iteration. Thus, this work provides an efficient and controllable traffic regulation solution for large-scale industrial recommendation systems.

TIPS: Turn-Level Information-Potential Reward Shaping for Search-Augmented LLMs

Search-augmented large language models (LLMs) trained with reinforcement learning (RL) have achieved strong results on open-domain question answering (QA), but training still remains a significant challenge. The optimization is often unstable due to sparse rewards and difficult credit assignments across reasoning and tool calls. To address this, we introduce Turn-Level Information Potential Reward Shaping (TIPS), a simple framework that assigns dense, turn-level rewards to each reasoning + tool-call segment based on the increased likelihood of the correct answer under a teacher model. By leveraging the potential-based reward shaping, TIPS offers fine-grained and policy-invariant guidance that overcomes the limitations of outcome-only optimization. Evaluated on seven QA benchmarks, TIPS consistently outperforms GRPO/PPO baselines and substantially improves training stability. For instance, with a Qwen-2.5 7B Instruct model, TIPS improves the average Exact Match score by 11.8% and F1 by 13.6% relative to PPO. Our results demonstrate that turn-level information-potential reward shaping provides an effective and general solution to sparse-reward credit assignment for multi-turn LLM reasoning.

Variance reduction in lattice QCD observables via normalizing flows

Normalizing flows can be used to construct unbiased, reduced-variance estimators for lattice field theory observables that are defined by a derivative with respect to action parameters. This work implements the approach for observables involving gluonic operator insertions in the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory and two-flavor Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) in four space-time dimensions. Variance reduction by factors of $10$-$60$ is achieved in glueball correlation functions and in gluonic matrix elements related to hadron structure, with demonstrated computational advantages. The observed variance reduction is found to be approximately independent of the lattice volume, so that volume transfer can be utilized to minimize training costs.

Scene Reconstruction as Mapping Priors for 3D Detection

In autonomous driving, mapping is critical for motion planning but remains an under-utilized resource for perception tasks such as 3D object detection. Maps can provide robust structural priors of the static environment, helping resolve ambiguities and correct for sensor data sparsity or noise, especially for distant objects or under adverse weather conditions. However, conventional High-Definition (HD) maps are resource-intensive to obtain and maintain, which presents a challenge for efficient, large-scale deployment. In this paper, we propose a scalable solution to systematically leverage mapping to improve 3D detection by overcoming two primary challenges. First, we introduce a pipeline to automatically build dense mapping priors from aggregated sensor data, eliminating the need for human labeling. Second, we design a novel Mapping Priors Augmented 3D Detection (MPA3D) framework to effectively integrate mapping priors with different sensor modalities. Extensive experiments on the Waymo Open Dataset demonstrate that our approach achieves new state-of-the-art results, proving the effectiveness of scalable reconstructed scene priors for enhancing 3D detection.

STELLAR: Scaling 3D Perception Large Models for Autonomous Driving

Model scaling has demonstrated remarkable success through large-scale training on diverse datasets. It remains an open question whether the same paradigm would apply to autonomous driving perception systems due to unique challenges, such as fusing heterogeneous sensor data and the need for sophisticated 3D spatial understanding. To bridge this gap, we present a comprehensive study on systematically analyzing the impact of scale on these systems. We develop our STELLAR model based on Sparse Window Transformer, by extending the input modalities to include LiDAR, radar, camera, and map prior. We train the model on a large-scale dataset of 50 million driving examples with up to 500 million parameters. Our large-scale experiments reveal empirical scaling trends that connect model performance to model size, data, and compute. The resulting model establishes a new state-of-the-art on the Waymo Open Dataset challenge, outperforming prior arts by a large margin. Our work demonstrates that large-scale training is a highly promising path for advancing the capabilities of perception models for autonomous driving.

EffectErase: Joint Video Object Removal and Insertion for High-Quality Effect Erasing

Video object removal aims to eliminate dynamic target objects and their visual effects, such as deformation, shadows, and reflections, while restoring seamless backgrounds. Recent diffusion-based video inpainting and object removal methods can remove the objects but often struggle to erase these effects and to synthesize coherent backgrounds. Beyond method limitations, progress is further hampered by the lack of a comprehensive dataset that systematically captures common object effects across varied environments for training and evaluation. To address this, we introduce VOR (Video Object Removal), a large-scale dataset that provides diverse paired videos, each consisting of one video where the target object is present with its effects and a counterpart where the object and effects are absent, with corresponding object masks. VOR contains 60K high-quality video pairs from captured and synthetic sources, covers five effects types, and spans a wide range of object categories as well as complex, dynamic multi-object scenes. Building on VOR, we propose EffectErase, an effect-aware video object removal method that treats video object insertion as the inverse auxiliary task within a reciprocal learning scheme. The model includes task-aware region guidance that focuses learning on affected areas and enables flexible task switching. Then, an insertion-removal consistency objective that encourages complementary behaviors and shared localization of effect regions and structural cues. Trained on VOR, EffectErase achieves superior performance in extensive experiments, delivering high-quality video object effect erasing across diverse scenarios.

COLMAP-Free 3D Gaussian Splatting

While neural rendering has led to impressive advances in scene reconstruction and novel view synthesis, it relies heavily on accurately pre-computed camera poses. To relax this constraint, multiple efforts have been made to train Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) without pre-processed camera poses. However, the implicit representations of NeRFs provide extra challenges to optimize the 3D structure and camera poses at the same time. On the other hand, the recently proposed 3D Gaussian Splatting provides new opportunities given its explicit point cloud representations. This paper leverages both the explicit geometric representation and the continuity of the input video stream to perform novel view synthesis without any SfM preprocessing. We process the input frames in a sequential manner and progressively grow the 3D Gaussians set by taking one input frame at a time, without the need to pre-compute the camera poses. FastPoseGait: A Toolbox and Benchmark for Efficient Pose-based Gait Recognition

We present FastPoseGait, an open-source toolbox for pose-based gait recognition based on PyTorch. Our toolbox supports a set of cutting-edge pose-based gait recognition algorithms and a variety of related benchmarks. Unlike other pose-based projects that focus on a single algorithm, FastPoseGait integrates several state-of-the-art (SOTA) algorithms under a unified framework, incorporating both the latest advancements and best practices to ease the comparison of effectiveness and efficiency. In addition, to promote future research on pose-based gait recognition, we provide numerous pre-trained models and detailed benchmark results, which offer valuable insights and serve as a reference for further investigations. By leveraging the highly modular structure and diverse methods offered by FastPoseGait, researchers can quickly delve into pose-based gait recognition and promote development in the field. In this paper, we outline various features of this toolbox, aiming that our toolbox and benchmarks can further foster collaboration, facilitate reproducibility, and encourage the development of innovative algorithms for pose-based gait recognition. CompFeat: Comprehensive Feature Aggregation for Video Instance Segmentation

Video instance segmentation is a complex task in which we need to detect, segment, and track each object for any given video. Previous approaches only utilize single-frame features for the detection, segmentation, and tracking of objects and they suffer in the video scenario due to several distinct challenges such as motion blur and drastic appearance change. To eliminate ambiguities introduced by only using single-frame features, we propose a novel comprehensive feature aggregation approach (CompFeat) to refine features at both frame-level and object-level with temporal and spatial context information. The aggregation process is carefully designed with a new attention mechanism which significantly increases the discriminative power of the learned features. We further improve the tracking capability of our model through a siamese design by incorporating both feature similarities and spatial similarities. Self-similarity Grouping: A Simple Unsupervised Cross Domain Adaptation Approach for Person Re-identification

Domain adaptation in person re-identification (re-ID) has always been a challenging task. In this work, we explore how to harness the natural similar characteristics existing in the samples from the target domain for learning to conduct person re-ID in an unsupervised manner. Concretely, we propose a Self-similarity Grouping (SSG) approach, which exploits the potential similarity (from global body to local parts) of unlabeled samples to automatically build multiple clusters from different views. These independent clusters are then assigned with labels, which serve as the pseudo identities to supervise the training process. We repeatedly and alternatively conduct such a grouping and training process until the model is stable. Despite the apparent simplify, our SSG outperforms the state-of-the-arts by more than 4.6% (DukeMTMC to Market1501) and 4.4% (Market1501 to DukeMTMC) in mAP, respectively. Upon our SSG, we further introduce a clustering-guided semisupervised approach named SSG ++ to conduct the one-shot domain adaption in an open set setting (i.e. the number of independent identities from the target domain is unknown). Without spending much effort on labeling, our SSG ++ can further promote the mAP upon SSG by 10.7% and 6.9%, respectively. Our Code is available at: https://github.com/OasisYang/SSG .

Horizontal Pyramid Matching for Person Re-identification

Despite the remarkable recent progress, person re-identification (Re-ID) approaches are still suffering from the failure cases where the discriminative body parts are missing. To mitigate such cases, we propose a simple yet effective Horizontal Pyramid Matching (HPM) approach to fully exploit various partial information of a given person, so that correct person candidates can be still identified even even some key parts are missing. Within the HPM, we make the following contributions to produce a more robust feature representation for the Re-ID task: 1) we learn to classify using partial feature representations at different horizontal pyramid scales, which successfully enhance the discriminative capabilities of various person parts; 2) we exploit average and max pooling strategies to account for person-specific discriminative information in a global-local manner. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed HPM, extensive experiments are conducted on three popular benchmarks, including Market-1501, DukeMTMC-ReID and CUHK03. In particular, we achieve mAP scores of 83.1%, 74.5% and 59.7% on these benchmarks, which are the new state-of-the-arts. Our code is available on Github

RGBD Objects in the Wild: Scaling Real-World 3D Object Learning from RGB-D Videos

We introduce a new RGB-D object dataset captured in the wild called WildRGB-D. Unlike most existing real-world object-centric datasets which only come with RGB capturing, the direct capture of the depth channel allows better 3D annotations and broader downstream applications. WildRGB-D comprises large-scale category-level RGB-D object videos, which are taken using an iPhone to go around the objects in 360 degrees. It contains around 8500 recorded objects and nearly 20000 RGB-D videos across 46 common object categories. These videos are taken with diverse cluttered backgrounds with three setups to cover as many real-world scenarios as possible: (i) a single object in one video; (ii) multiple objects in one video; and (iii) an object with a static hand in one video. The dataset is annotated with object masks, real-world scale camera poses, and reconstructed aggregated point clouds from RGBD videos. We benchmark four tasks with WildRGB-D including novel view synthesis, camera pose estimation, object 6d pose estimation, and object surface reconstruction. Our experiments show that the large-scale capture of RGB-D objects provides a large potential to advance 3D object learning. Our project page is https://wildrgbd.github.io/.

Learning Generalizable Feature Fields for Mobile Manipulation

An open problem in mobile manipulation is how to represent objects and scenes in a unified manner so that robots can use both for navigation and manipulation. The latter requires capturing intricate geometry while understanding fine-grained semantics, whereas the former involves capturing the complexity inherent at an expansive physical scale. In this work, we present GeFF (Generalizable Feature Fields), a scene-level generalizable neural feature field that acts as a unified representation for both navigation and manipulation that performs in real-time. To do so, we treat generative novel view synthesis as a pre-training task, and then align the resulting rich scene priors with natural language via CLIP feature distillation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by deploying GeFF on a quadrupedal robot equipped with a manipulator. We quantitatively evaluate GeFF's ability for open-vocabulary object-/part-level manipulation and show that GeFF outperforms point-based baselines in runtime and storage-accuracy trade-offs, with qualitative examples of semantics-aware navigation and articulated object manipulation.

HOIDiffusion: Generating Realistic 3D Hand-Object Interaction Data

3D hand-object interaction data is scarce due to the hardware constraints in scaling up the data collection process. In this paper, we propose HOIDiffusion for generating realistic and diverse 3D hand-object interaction data. Our model is a conditional diffusion model that takes both the 3D hand-object geometric structure and text description as inputs for image synthesis. This offers a more controllable and realistic synthesis as we can specify the structure and style inputs in a disentangled manner. HOIDiffusion is trained by leveraging a diffusion model pre-trained on large-scale natural images and a few 3D human demonstrations. Beyond controllable image synthesis, we adopt the generated 3D data for learning 6D object pose estimation and show its effectiveness in improving perception systems. Joint Energy Management and Coordinated AIGC Workload Scheduling for Distributed Data Centers: A Diffusion-Aided Reward Shaping Approach

Artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) has emerged as a transformative paradigm for automating the creation of diverse and customized content, giving rise to rapidly growing computational workloads in cloud data centers. It is imperative for AIGC service providers (ASPs) to strategically schedule AIGC workloads to reduce data center energy costs while guaranteeing high-quality content generation. However, the distinctive characteristics of AIGC services pose critical challenges, including model heterogeneity across ASPs, implicit service quality evaluation, and complex inference process control. To tackle these challenges, we propose a joint energy management and coordinated AIGC workload scheduling framework, which introduces an explicit mathematical characterization of service quality to promote both job transfer among ASPs and fine-grained inference process configuration. Moreover, various energy resources within data centers are jointly considered to enhance power usage flexibility. Subsequently, a system utility maximization problem is formulated to balance AIGC service revenue with operational penalties and costs. Nevertheless, the strong coupling among job scheduling decisions induces severe reward sparsity, which limits the effectiveness of existing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms. To address this issue, we develop a diffusion model-aided reward shaping approach to synthesize complementary reward signals through a multi-step denoising process. This approach is seamlessly integrated with DRL to enable efficient learning of scheduling policies under sparse environmental feedback. Experiments based on real-world models and datasets demonstrate that our scheme effectively accommodates electricity price fluctuations and AIGC model heterogeneity, while achieving superior learning convergence and system utility compared with benchmark methods.

3D Aware Region Prompted Vision Language Model

We present Spatial Region 3D (SR-3D) aware vision-language model that connects single-view 2D images and multi-view 3D data through a shared visual token space. SR-3D supports flexible region prompting, allowing users to annotate regions with bounding boxes, segmentation masks on any frame, or directly in 3D, without the need for exhaustive multi-frame labeling. We achieve this by enriching 2D visual features with 3D positional embeddings, which allows the 3D model to draw upon strong 2D priors for more accurate spatial reasoning across frames, even when objects of interest do not co-occur within the same view. Extensive experiments on both general 2D vision language and specialized 3D spatial benchmarks demonstrate that SR-3D achieves state-of-the-art performance, underscoring its effectiveness for unifying 2D and 3D representation space on scene understanding. Moreover, we observe applicability to in-the-wild videos without sensory 3D inputs or ground-truth 3D annotations, where SR-3D accurately infers spatial relationships and metric measurements.

TalkCuts: A Large-Scale Dataset for Multi-Shot Human Speech Video Generation

In this work, we present TalkCuts, a large-scale dataset designed to facilitate the study of multi-shot human speech video generation. Unlike existing datasets that focus on single-shot, static viewpoints, TalkCuts offers 164k clips totaling over 500 hours of high-quality human speech videos with diverse camera shots, including close-up, half-body, and full-body views. The dataset includes detailed textual descriptions, 2D keypoints and 3D SMPL-X motion annotations, covering over 10k identities, enabling multimodal learning and evaluation. As a first attempt to showcase the value of the dataset, we present Orator, an LLM-guided multi-modal generation framework as a simple baseline, where the language model functions as a multi-faceted director, orchestrating detailed specifications for camera transitions, speaker gesticulations, and vocal modulation. This architecture enables the synthesis of coherent long-form videos through our integrated multi-modal video generation module. Extensive experiments in both pose-guided and audio-driven settings show that training on TalkCuts significantly enhances the cinematographic coherence and visual appeal of generated multi-shot speech videos. We believe TalkCuts provides a strong foundation for future work in controllable, multi-shot speech video generation and broader multimodal learning.

Fine-Grained AI Model Caching and Downloading With Coordinated Multipoint Broadcasting in Multi-Cell Edge Networks

6G networks are envisioned to support on-demand AI model downloading to accommodate diverse inference requirements of end users. By proactively caching models at edge nodes, users can retrieve the requested models with low latency for on-device AI inference. However, the substantial size of contemporary AI models poses significant challenges for edge caching under limited storage capacity, as well as for the concurrent delivery of heterogeneous models over wireless channels. To address these challenges, we propose a fine-grained AI model caching and downloading system that exploits parameter reusability, stemming from the common practice of fine-tuning task-specific models from a shared pre-trained model with frozen parameters. This system selectively caches model parameter blocks (PBs) at edge nodes, eliminating redundant storage of reusable parameters across different cached models. Additionally, it incorporates coordinated multipoint (CoMP) broadcasting to simultaneously deliver reusable PBs to multiple users, thereby enhancing downlink spectrum utilization. Under this arrangement, we formulate a model downloading delay minimization problem to jointly optimize PB caching, migration (among edge nodes), and broadcasting beamforming. To tackle this intractable problem, we develop a distributed multi-agent learning framework that enables edge nodes to explicitly learn mutual influence among their actions, thereby facilitating cooperation. Furthermore, a data augmentation approach is proposed to adaptively generate synthetic training samples through a predictive model, boosting sample efficiency and accelerating policy learning. Both theoretical analysis and simulation experiments validate the superior convergence performance of the proposed learning framework.

SpatialRGPT: Grounded Spatial Reasoning in Vision Language Models

Vision Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated remarkable performance in 2D vision and language tasks. However, their ability to reason about spatial arrangements remains limited. In this work, we introduce Spatial Region GPT (SpatialRGPT) to enhance VLMs' spatial perception and reasoning capabilities. SpatialRGPT advances VLMs' spatial understanding through two key innovations: (1) a data curation pipeline that enables effective learning of regional representation from 3D scene graphs, and (2) a flexible plugin module for integrating depth information into the visual encoder of existing VLMs. During inference, when provided with user-specified region proposals, SpatialRGPT can accurately perceive their relative directions and distances. Additionally, we propose SpatialRGBT-Bench, a benchmark with ground-truth 3D annotations encompassing indoor, outdoor, and simulated environments, for evaluating 3D spatial cognition in VLMs. Our results demonstrate that SpatialRGPT significantly enhances performance in spatial reasoning tasks, both with and without local region prompts. The model also exhibits strong generalization capabilities, effectively reasoning about complex spatial relations and functioning as a region-aware dense reward annotator for robotic tasks. A Construct-Optimize Approach to Sparse View Synthesis without Camera Pose

Novel view synthesis from a sparse set of input images is a challenging problem of great practical interest, especially when camera poses are absent or inaccurate. Direct optimization of camera poses and usage of estimated depths in neural radiance field algorithms usually do not produce good results because of the coupling between poses and depths, and inaccuracies in monocular depth estimation. In this paper, we leverage the recent 3D Gaussian splatting method to develop a novel construct-and-optimize method for sparse view synthesis without camera poses. Specifically, we construct a solution progressively by using monocular depth and projecting pixels back into the 3D world. During construction, we optimize the solution by detecting 2D correspondences between training views and the corresponding rendered images. We develop a unified differentiable pipeline for camera registration and adjustment of both camera poses and depths, followed by back-projection. We also introduce a novel notion of an expected surface in Gaussian splatting, which is critical to our optimization. These steps enable a coarse solution, which can then be low-pass filtered and refined using standard optimization methods. We demonstrate results on the Tanks and Temples and Static Hikes datasets with as few as three widely-spaced views, showing significantly better quality than competing methods, including those with approximate camera pose information. Moreover, our results improve with more views and outperform previous InstantNGP and Gaussian Splatting algorithms even when using half the dataset. DexMV: Imitation Learning for Dexterous Manipulation from Human Videos

While significant progress has been made on understanding hand-object interactions in computer vision, it is still very challenging for robots to perform complex dexterous manipulation. In this paper, we propose a new platform and pipeline DexMV (Dexterous Manipulation from Videos) for imitation learning. We design a platform with: (i) a simulation system for complex dexterous manipulation tasks with a multi-finger robot hand and (ii) a computer vision system to record large-scale demonstrations of a human hand conducting the same tasks. In our novel pipeline, we extract 3D hand and object poses from videos, and propose a novel demonstration translation method to convert human motion to robot demonstrations. We then apply and benchmark multiple imitation learning algorithms with the demonstrations. We show that the demonstrations can indeed improve robot learning by a large margin and solve the complex tasks which reinforcement learning alone cannot solve. Learning to Track Instances without Video Annotations

Tracking segmentation masks of multiple instances has been intensively studied, but still faces two fundamental challenges: 1) the requirement of large-scale, frame-wise annotation, and 2) the complexity of two-stage approaches. To resolve these challenges, we introduce a novel semi-supervised framework by learning instance tracking networks with only a labeled image dataset and unlabeled video sequences. With an instance contrastive objective, we learn an embedding to discriminate each instance from the others. We show that even when only trained with images, the learned feature representation is robust to instance appearance variations, and is thus able to track objects steadily across frames. We further enhance the tracking capability of the embedding by learning correspondence from unlabeled videos in a self-supervised manner. In addition, we integrate this module into single-stage instance segmentation and pose estimation frameworks, which significantly reduce the computational complexity of tracking compared to two-stage networks. We conduct experiments on the YouTube-VIS and PoseTrack datasets. Without any video annotation efforts, our proposed method can achieve comparable or even better performance than most fully-supervised methods.

Clique: Spatiotemporal Object Re-identification at the City Scale

Object re-identification (ReID) is a key application of city-scale cameras. While classic ReID tasks are often considered as image retrieval, we treat them as spatiotemporal queries for locations and times in which the target object appeared. Spatiotemporal reID is challenged by the accuracy limitation in computer vision algorithms and the colossal videos from city cameras. We present Clique, a practical ReID engine that builds upon two new techniques: (1) Clique assesses target occurrences by clustering fuzzy object features extracted by ReID algorithms, with each cluster representing the general impression of a distinct object to be matched against the input; (2) to search in videos, Clique samples cameras to maximize the spatiotemporal coverage and incrementally adds cameras for processing on demand. Through evaluation on 25 hours of videos from 25 cameras, Clique reached a high accuracy of 0.87 (recall at 5) across 70 queries and runs at 830x of video realtime in achieving high accuracy.

STA: Spatial-Temporal Attention for Large-Scale Video-based Person Re-Identification

In this work, we propose a novel Spatial-Temporal Attention (STA) approach to tackle the large-scale person re-identification task in videos. Different from the most existing methods, which simply compute representations of video clips using frame-level aggregation (e.g. average pooling), the proposed STA adopts a more effective way for producing robust clip-level feature representation. Concretely, our STA fully exploits those discriminative parts of one target person in both spatial and temporal dimensions, which results in a 2-D attention score matrix via inter-frame regularization to measure the importances of spatial parts across different frames. Thus, a more robust clip-level feature representation can be generated according to a weighted sum operation guided by the mined 2-D attention score matrix. In this way, the challenging cases for video-based person re-identification such as pose variation and partial occlusion can be well tackled by the STA. We conduct extensive experiments on two large-scale benchmarks, i.e. MARS and DukeMTMC-VideoReID. In particular, the mAP reaches 87.7% on MARS, which significantly outperforms the state-of-the-arts with a large margin of more than 11.6%.
