End-to-end Learnable Clustering for Intent Learning in Recommendation

Yue Liu, Shihao Zhu, Jun Xia et al.

Intent learning, which aims to learn users' intents for user understanding and item recommendation, has become a hot research spot in recent years. However, existing methods suffer from complex and cumbersome alternating optimization, limiting performance and scalability. To this end, we propose a novel intent learning method termed \underline{ELCRec}, by unifying behavior representation learning into an \underline{E}nd-to-end \underline{L}earnable \underline{C}lustering framework, for effective and efficient \underline{Rec}ommendation. Concretely, we encode user behavior sequences and initialize the cluster centers (latent intents) as learnable neurons. Then, we design a novel learnable clustering module to separate different cluster centers, thus decoupling users' complex intents. Meanwhile, it guides the network to learn intents from behaviors by forcing behavior embeddings close to cluster centers. This allows simultaneous optimization of recommendation and clustering via mini-batch data. Moreover, we propose intent-assisted contrastive learning by using cluster centers as self-supervision signals, further enhancing mutual promotion. Both experimental results and theoretical analyses demonstrate the superiority of ELCRec from six perspectives. Compared to the runner-up, ELCRec improves NDCG@5 by 8.9\% and reduces computational costs by 22.5\% on the Beauty dataset. Furthermore, due to the scalability and universal applicability, we deploy this method on the industrial recommendation system with 130 million page views and achieve promising results. The codes are available on GitHub (https://github.com/yueliu1999/ELCRec). A collection (papers, codes, datasets) of deep group recommendation/intent learning methods is available on GitHub (https://github.com/yueliu1999/Awesome-Deep-Group-Recommendation).

Mixture of Style Experts for Diverse Image Stylization

Shihao Zhu, Ziheng Ouyang, Yijia Kang et al.

Diffusion-based stylization has advanced significantly, yet existing methods are limited to color-driven transformations, neglecting complex semantics and material details. We introduce StyleExpert, a semantic-aware framework based on the Mixture of Experts (MoE). Our framework employs a unified style encoder, trained on our large-scale dataset of content-style-stylized triplets, to embed diverse styles into a consistent latent space. This embedding is then used to condition a similarity-aware gating mechanism, which dynamically routes styles to specialized experts within the MoE architecture. Leveraging this MoE architecture, our method adeptly handles diverse styles spanning multiple semantic levels, from shallow textures to deep semantics. Extensive experiments show that StyleExpert outperforms existing approaches in preserving semantics and material details, while generalizing to unseen styles. Our code and collected images are available at the project page: https://hh-lg.github.io/StyleExpert-Page/.

The Consistency Critic: Correcting Inconsistencies in Generated Images via Reference-Guided Attentive Alignment

Ziheng Ouyang, Yiren Song, Yaoli Liu et al.

Previous works have explored various customized generation tasks given a reference image, but they still face limitations in generating consistent fine-grained details. In this paper, our aim is to solve the inconsistency problem of generated images by applying a reference-guided post-editing approach and present our ImageCritic. We first construct a dataset of reference-degraded-target triplets obtained via VLM-based selection and explicit degradation, which effectively simulates the common inaccuracies or inconsistencies observed in existing generation models. Furthermore, building on a thorough examination of the model's attention mechanisms and intrinsic representations, we accordingly devise an attention alignment loss and a detail encoder to precisely rectify inconsistencies. ImageCritic can be integrated into an agent framework to automatically detect inconsistencies and correct them with multi-round and local editing in complex scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ImageCritic can effectively resolve detail-related issues in various customized generation scenarios, providing significant improvements over existing methods.

AgeBooth: Controllable Facial Aging and Rejuvenation via Diffusion Models

Shihao Zhu, Bohan Cao, Ziheng Ouyang et al.

Recent diffusion model research focuses on generating identity-consistent images from a reference photo, but they struggle to accurately control age while preserving identity, and fine-tuning such models often requires costly paired images across ages. In this paper, we propose AgeBooth, a novel age-specific finetuning approach that can effectively enhance the age control capability of adapterbased identity personalization models without the need for expensive age-varied datasets. To reduce dependence on a large amount of age-labeled data, we exploit the linear nature of aging by introducing age-conditioned prompt blending and an age-specific LoRA fusion strategy that leverages SVDMix, a matrix fusion technique. These techniques enable high-quality generation of intermediate-age portraits. Our AgeBooth produces realistic and identity-consistent face images across different ages from a single reference image. Experiments show that AgeBooth achieves superior age control and visual quality compared to previous state-of-the-art editing-based methods.
