Ghost-free High Dynamic Range Imaging with Context-aware TransformerZhen Liu, Yinglong Wang, Bing Zeng et al.
High dynamic range (HDR) deghosting algorithms aim to generate ghost-free HDR images with realistic details. Restricted by the locality of the receptive field, existing CNN-based methods are typically prone to producing ghosting artifacts and intensity distortions in the presence of large motion and severe saturation. In this paper, we propose a novel Context-Aware Vision Transformer (CA-ViT) for ghost-free high dynamic range imaging. The CA-ViT is designed as a dual-branch architecture, which can jointly capture both global and local dependencies. Specifically, the global branch employs a window-based Transformer encoder to model long-range object movements and intensity variations to solve ghosting. For the local branch, we design a local context extractor (LCE) to capture short-range image features and use the channel attention mechanism to select informative local details across the extracted features to complement the global branch. By incorporating the CA-ViT as basic components, we further build the HDR-Transformer, a hierarchical network to reconstruct high-quality ghost-free HDR images. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets show that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods qualitatively and quantitatively with considerably reduced computational budgets. Minimum Latency Deep Online Video StabilizationZhuofan Zhang, Zhen Liu, Ping Tan et al.
We present a novel camera path optimization framework for the task of online video stabilization. Typically, a stabilization pipeline consists of three steps: motion estimating, path smoothing, and novel view rendering. Most previous methods concentrate on motion estimation, proposing various global or local motion models. In contrast, path optimization receives relatively less attention, especially in the important online setting, where no future frames are available. In this work, we adopt recent off-the-shelf high-quality deep motion models for motion estimation to recover the camera trajectory and focus on the latter two steps. Our network takes a short 2D camera path in a sliding window as input and outputs the stabilizing warp field of the last frame in the window, which warps the coming frame to its stabilized position. A hybrid loss is well-defined to constrain the spatial and temporal consistency. In addition, we build a motion dataset that contains stable and unstable motion pairs for the training. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms state-of-the-art online methods both qualitatively and quantitatively and achieves comparable performance to offline methods. Supervised Homography Learning with Realistic Dataset GenerationHai Jiang, Haipeng Li, Songchen Han et al.
In this paper, we propose an iterative framework, which consists of two phases: a generation phase and a training phase, to generate realistic training data and yield a supervised homography network. In the generation phase, given an unlabeled image pair, we utilize the pre-estimated dominant plane masks and homography of the pair, along with another sampled homography that serves as ground truth to generate a new labeled training pair with realistic motion. In the training phase, the generated data is used to train the supervised homography network, in which the training data is refined via a content consistency module and a quality assessment module. Once an iteration is finished, the trained network is used in the next data generation phase to update the pre-estimated homography. Through such an iterative strategy, the quality of the dataset and the performance of the network can be gradually and simultaneously improved. Experimental results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance and existing supervised methods can be also improved based on the generated dataset. CamFlow+: Hybrid Motion Bases for 2D Camera Motion Estimation with Stabilization ApplicationsHaipeng Li, Zhen Liu, Zhanglei Yang et al.
Estimating 2D camera motion is fundamental to computer vision and computational photography. Existing homography-based methods work well for planar scenes or pure rotation, but struggle with camera translation, depth variation, and local parallax; local homography and mesh-based models improve flexibility but still rely on piecewise planar assumptions. We introduce CamFlow+, a hybrid-basis framework that represents 2D camera motion directly in dense-flow space. CamFlow+ combines homography-derived physical bases, stochastic bases sampled from homography flows, and depth-translational bases derived from depth and camera intrinsics, relaxing the single-plane constraint while preserving camera-motion regularity. A depth-aware smoothness term further regularizes translation-induced parallax in continuous-depth regions while preserving motion changes near depth boundaries. We evaluate CamFlow+ on GHOF-Cam, a camera-motion benchmark that masks out dynamic objects and ill-posed occlusion regions in an optical-flow benchmark to isolate camera-induced motion. Experiments show that CamFlow+ improves sparse and dense camera-motion estimation. In digital video stabilization, CamFlow+ also improves global and local stability, achieving the best top-1 preference rate in a blind user study. Single-Image-Based Deep Learning for Segmentation of Early Esophageal Cancer LesionsHaipeng Li, Dingrui Liu, Yu Zeng et al.
Accurate segmentation of lesions is crucial for diagnosis and treatment of early esophageal cancer (EEC). However, neither traditional nor deep learning-based methods up to today can meet the clinical requirements, with the mean Dice score - the most important metric in medical image analysis - hardly exceeding 0.75. In this paper, we present a novel deep learning approach for segmenting EEC lesions. Our approach stands out for its uniqueness, as it relies solely on a single image coming from one patient, forming the so-called "You-Only-Have-One" (YOHO) framework. On one hand, this "one-image-one-network" learning ensures complete patient privacy as it does not use any images from other patients as the training data. On the other hand, it avoids nearly all generalization-related problems since each trained network is applied only to the input image itself. In particular, we can push the training to "over-fitting" as much as possible to increase the segmentation accuracy. Our technical details include an interaction with clinical physicians to utilize their expertise, a geometry-based rendering of a single lesion image to generate the training set (the \emph{biggest} novelty), and an edge-enhanced UNet. We have evaluated YOHO over an EEC data-set created by ourselves and achieved a mean Dice score of 0.888, which represents a significant advance toward clinical applications.

GyroFlow+: Gyroscope-Guided Unsupervised Deep Homography and Optical Flow LearningHaipeng Li, Kunming Luo, Bing Zeng et al.
Existing homography and optical flow methods are erroneous in challenging scenes, such as fog, rain, night, and snow because the basic assumptions such as brightness and gradient constancy are broken. To address this issue, we present an unsupervised learning approach that fuses gyroscope into homography and optical flow learning. Specifically, we first convert gyroscope readings into motion fields named gyro field. Second, we design a self-guided fusion module (SGF) to fuse the background motion extracted from the gyro field with the optical flow and guide the network to focus on motion details. Meanwhile, we propose a homography decoder module (HD) to combine gyro field and intermediate results of SGF to produce the homography. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first deep learning framework that fuses gyroscope data and image content for both deep homography and optical flow learning. To validate our method, we propose a new dataset that covers regular and challenging scenes. Experiments show that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in both regular and challenging scenes.

DMAligner: Enhancing Image Alignment via Diffusion Model Based View SynthesisXinglong Luo, Ao Luo, Zhengning Wang et al.
Image alignment is a fundamental task in computer vision with broad applications. Existing methods predominantly employ optical flow-based image warping. However, this technique is susceptible to common challenges such as occlusions and illumination variations, leading to degraded alignment visual quality and compromised accuracy in downstream tasks. In this paper, we present DMAligner, a diffusion-based framework for image alignment through alignment-oriented view synthesis. DMAligner is crafted to tackle the challenges in image alignment from a new perspective, employing a generation-based solution that showcases strong capabilities and avoids the problems associated with flow-based image warping. Specifically, we propose a Dynamics-aware Diffusion Training approach for learning conditional image generation, synthesizing a novel view for image alignment. This incorporates a Dynamics-aware Mask Producing (DMP) module to adaptively distinguish dynamic foreground regions from static backgrounds, enabling the diffusion model to more effectively handle challenges that classical methods struggle to solve. Furthermore, we develop the Dynamic Scene Image Alignment (DSIA) dataset using Blender, which includes 1,033 indoor and outdoor scenes with over 30K image pairs tailored for image alignment. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach on DSIA benchmarks, as well as on a series of widely-used video datasets for qualitative comparisons. Luminance-Guided Chrominance Image Enhancement for HEVC Intra CodingHewei Liu, Renwei Yang, Shuyuan Zhu et al.
In this paper, we propose a luminance-guided chrominance image enhancement convolutional neural network for HEVC intra coding. Specifically, we firstly develop a gated recursive asymmetric-convolution block to restore each degraded chrominance image, which generates an intermediate output. Then, guided by the luminance image, the quality of this intermediate output is further improved, which finally produces the high-quality chrominance image. When our proposed method is adopted in the compression of color images with HEVC intra coding, it achieves 28.96% and 16.74% BD-rate gains over HEVC for the U and V images, respectively, which accordingly demonstrate its superiority.

OL-DN: Online learning based dual-domain network for HEVC intra frame quality enhancementRenwei Yang, Shuyuan Zhu, Xiaozhen Zheng et al.
Convolution neural network (CNN) based methods offer effective solutions for enhancing the quality of compressed image and video. However, these methods ignore using the raw data to enhance the quality. In this paper, we adopt the raw data in the quality enhancement for the HEVC intra-coded image by proposing an online learning-based method. When quality enhancement is demanded, we online train our proposed model at encoder side and then use the parameters to update the model of decoder side. This method not only improves model performance, but also makes one model adoptable to multiple coding scenarios. Besides, quantization error in discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients is the root cause of various HEVC compression artifacts. Thus, we combine frequency domain priors to assist image reconstruction. We design a DCT based convolution layer, to produce DCT coefficients that are suitable for CNN learning. Experimental results show that our proposed online learning based dual-domain network (OL-DN) has achieved superior performance, compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

ZeroIDIR: Zero-Reference Illumination Degradation Image Restoration with Perturbed Consistency Diffusion ModelsHai Jiang, Zhen Liu, Yinjie Lei et al.
In this paper, we propose a zero-reference diffusion-based framework, named ZeroIDIR, for illumination degradation image restoration, which decouples the restoration process into adaptive illumination correction and diffusion-based reconstruction while being trained solely on low-quality degraded images. Specifically, we design an adaptive gamma correction module that performs spatially varying exposure correction to generate illumination-corrected only representations to mitigate exposure bias and serve as reliable inputs for subsequent diffusion processes, where a histogram-guided illumination correction loss is introduced to regularize the corrected illumination distribution toward that of natural scenes. Subsequently, the illumination-corrected image is treated as an intermediate noisy state for the proposed perturbed consistency diffusion model to reconstruct details and suppress noise. Moreover, a perturbed diffusion consistency loss is proposed to constrain the forward diffusion trajectory of the final restored image to remain consistent with the perturbed state, thus improving restoration fidelity and stability in the absence of supervision. Extensive experiments on publicly available benchmarks show that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art unsupervised competitors and is comparable to supervised methods while being more generalizable to various scenes. Exposure Fusion for Hand-held Camera Inputs with Optical Flow and PatchMatchRu Li, Guanghui Liu, Bing Zeng et al.
This paper proposes a hybrid synthesis method for multi-exposure image fusion taken by hand-held cameras. Motions either due to the shaky camera or caused by dynamic scenes should be compensated before any content fusion. Any misalignment can easily cause blurring/ghosting artifacts in the fused result. Our hybrid method can deal with such motions and maintain the exposure information of each input effectively. In particular, the proposed method first applies optical flow for a coarse registration, which performs well with complex non-rigid motion but produces deformations at regions with missing correspondences. The absence of correspondences is due to the occlusions of scene parallax or the moving contents. To correct such error registration, we segment images into superpixels and identify problematic alignments based on each superpixel, which is further aligned by PatchMatch. The method combines the efficiency of optical flow and the accuracy of PatchMatch. After PatchMatch correction, we obtain a fully aligned image stack that facilitates a high-quality fusion that is free from blurring/ghosting artifacts. We compare our method with existing fusion algorithms on various challenging examples, including the static/dynamic, the indoor/outdoor and the daytime/nighttime scenes. Experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our method.

Ada-adapter:Fast Few-shot Style Personlization of Diffusion Model with Pre-trained Image EncoderJia Liu, Changlin Li, Qirui Sun et al.
Fine-tuning advanced diffusion models for high-quality image stylization usually requires large training datasets and substantial computational resources, hindering their practical applicability. We propose Ada-Adapter, a novel framework for few-shot style personalization of diffusion models. Ada-Adapter leverages off-the-shelf diffusion models and pre-trained image feature encoders to learn a compact style representation from a limited set of source images. Our method enables efficient zero-shot style transfer utilizing a single reference image. Furthermore, with a small number of source images (three to five are sufficient) and a few minutes of fine-tuning, our method can capture intricate style details and conceptual characteristics, generating high-fidelity stylized images that align well with the provided text prompts. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach on various artistic styles, including flat art, 3D rendering, and logo design. Our experimental results show that Ada-Adapter outperforms existing zero-shot and few-shot stylization methods in terms of output quality, diversity, and training efficiency.

NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Quality Assessment and Enhancement: Methods and ResultsXin Li, Kun Yuan, Bingchen Li et al.
This paper presents a review for the NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Quality Assessment and Enhancement. The challenge comprises two tracks: (i) Efficient Video Quality Assessment (KVQ), and (ii) Diffusion-based Image Super-Resolution (KwaiSR). Track 1 aims to advance the development of lightweight and efficient video quality assessment (VQA) models, with an emphasis on eliminating reliance on model ensembles, redundant weights, and other computationally expensive components in the previous IQA/VQA competitions. Track 2 introduces a new short-form UGC dataset tailored for single image super-resolution, i.e., the KwaiSR dataset. It consists of 1,800 synthetically generated S-UGC image pairs and 1,900 real-world S-UGC images, which are split into training, validation, and test sets using a ratio of 8:1:1. The primary objective of the challenge is to drive research that benefits the user experience of short-form UGC platforms such as Kwai and TikTok. This challenge attracted 266 participants and received 18 valid final submissions with corresponding fact sheets, significantly contributing to the progress of short-form UGC VQA and image superresolution. RAW-Flow: Advancing RGB-to-RAW Image Reconstruction with Deterministic Latent Flow MatchingZhen Liu, Diedong Feng, Hai Jiang et al.
RGB-to-RAW reconstruction, or the reverse modeling of a camera Image Signal Processing (ISP) pipeline, aims to recover high-fidelity RAW data from RGB images. Despite notable progress, existing learning-based methods typically treat this task as a direct regression objective and struggle with detail inconsistency and color deviation, due to the ill-posed nature of inverse ISP and the inherent information loss in quantized RGB images. To address these limitations, we pioneer a generative perspective by reformulating RGB-to-RAW reconstruction as a deterministic latent transport problem and introduce a novel framework named RAW-Flow, which leverages flow matching to learn a deterministic vector field in latent space, to effectively bridge the gap between RGB and RAW representations and enable accurate reconstruction of structural details and color information. To further enhance latent transport, we introduce a cross-scale context guidance module that injects hierarchical RGB features into the flow estimation process. Moreover, we design a dual-domain latent autoencoder with a feature alignment constraint to support the proposed latent transport framework, which jointly encodes RGB and RAW inputs while promoting stable training and high-fidelity reconstruction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RAW-Flow outperforms state-of-the-art approaches both quantitatively and visually.

RecDiffusion: Rectangling for Image Stitching with Diffusion ModelsTianhao Zhou, Haipeng Li, Ziyi Wang et al.
Image stitching from different captures often results in non-rectangular boundaries, which is often considered unappealing. To solve non-rectangular boundaries, current solutions involve cropping, which discards image content, inpainting, which can introduce unrelated content, or warping, which can distort non-linear features and introduce artifacts. To overcome these issues, we introduce a novel diffusion-based learning framework, \textbf{RecDiffusion}, for image stitching rectangling. This framework combines Motion Diffusion Models (MDM) to generate motion fields, effectively transitioning from the stitched image's irregular borders to a geometrically corrected intermediary. Followed by Content Diffusion Models (CDM) for image detail refinement. Notably, our sampling process utilizes a weighted map to identify regions needing correction during each iteration of CDM. Our RecDiffusion ensures geometric accuracy and overall visual appeal, surpassing all previous methods in both quantitative and qualitative measures when evaluated on public benchmarks. SpectralNeRF: Physically Based Spectral Rendering with Neural Radiance FieldRu Li, Jia Liu, Guanghui Liu et al.
In this paper, we propose SpectralNeRF, an end-to-end Neural Radiance Field (NeRF)-based architecture for high-quality physically based rendering from a novel spectral perspective. We modify the classical spectral rendering into two main steps, 1) the generation of a series of spectrum maps spanning different wavelengths, 2) the combination of these spectrum maps for the RGB output. Our SpectralNeRF follows these two steps through the proposed multi-layer perceptron (MLP)-based architecture (SpectralMLP) and Spectrum Attention UNet (SAUNet). Given the ray origin and the ray direction, the SpectralMLP constructs the spectral radiance field to obtain spectrum maps of novel views, which are then sent to the SAUNet to produce RGB images of white-light illumination. Applying NeRF to build up the spectral rendering is a more physically-based way from the perspective of ray-tracing. Further, the spectral radiance fields decompose difficult scenes and improve the performance of NeRF-based methods. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrate the proposed SpectralNeRF is superior to recent NeRF-based methods when synthesizing new views on synthetic and real datasets. A Two-stage Method for Non-extreme Value Salt-and-Pepper Noise RemovalRenwei Yang, YiKe Liu, Bing Zeng
There are several previous methods based on neural network can have great performance in denoising salt and pepper noise. However, those methods are based on a hypothesis that the value of salt and pepper noise is exactly 0 and 255. It is not true in the real world. The result of those methods deviate sharply when the value is different from 0 and 255. To overcome this weakness, our method aims at designing a convolutional neural network to detect the noise pixels in a wider range of value and then a filter is used to modify pixel value to 0, which is beneficial for further filtering. Additionally, another convolutional neural network is used to conduct the denoising and restoration work.

CodingHomo: Bootstrapping Deep Homography With Video CodingYike Liu, Haipeng Li, Shuaicheng Liu et al.
Homography estimation is a fundamental task in computer vision with applications in diverse fields. Recent advances in deep learning have improved homography estimation, particularly with unsupervised learning approaches, offering increased robustness and generalizability. However, accurately predicting homography, especially in complex motions, remains a challenge. In response, this work introduces a novel method leveraging video coding, particularly by harnessing inherent motion vectors (MVs) present in videos. We present CodingHomo, an unsupervised framework for homography estimation. Our framework features a Mask-Guided Fusion (MGF) module that identifies and utilizes beneficial features among the MVs, thereby enhancing the accuracy of homography prediction. Additionally, the Mask-Guided Homography Estimation (MGHE) module is presented for eliminating undesired features in the coarse-to-fine homography refinement process. CodingHomo outperforms existing state-of-the-art unsupervised methods, delivering good robustness and generalizability. Blind Video Super-Resolution based on Implicit KernelsQiang Zhu, Yuxuan Jiang, Shuyuan Zhu et al.
Blind video super-resolution (BVSR) is a low-level vision task which aims to generate high-resolution videos from low-resolution counterparts in unknown degradation scenarios. Existing approaches typically predict blur kernels that are spatially invariant in each video frame or even the entire video. These methods do not consider potential spatio-temporal varying degradations in videos, resulting in suboptimal BVSR performance. In this context, we propose a novel BVSR model based on Implicit Kernels, BVSR-IK, which constructs a multi-scale kernel dictionary parameterized by implicit neural representations. It also employs a newly designed recurrent Transformer to predict the coefficient weights for accurate filtering in both frame correction and feature alignment. Experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed BVSR-IK, when compared with four state-of-the-art BVSR models on three commonly used datasets, with BVSR-IK outperforming the second best approach, FMA-Net, by up to 0.59 dB in PSNR. Learning Efficient Meshflow and Optical Flow from Event CamerasXinglong Luo, Ao Luo, Kunming Luo et al.
In this paper, we explore the problem of event-based meshflow estimation, a novel task that involves predicting a spatially smooth sparse motion field from event cameras. To start, we review the state-of-the-art in event-based flow estimation, highlighting two key areas for further research: i) the lack of meshflow-specific event datasets and methods, and ii) the underexplored challenge of event data density. First, we generate a large-scale High-Resolution Event Meshflow (HREM) dataset, which showcases its superiority by encompassing the merits of high resolution at 1280x720, handling dynamic objects and complex motion patterns, and offering both optical flow and meshflow labels. These aspects have not been fully explored in previous works. Besides, we propose Efficient Event-based MeshFlow (EEMFlow) network, a lightweight model featuring a specially crafted encoder-decoder architecture to facilitate swift and accurate meshflow estimation. Furthermore, we upgrade EEMFlow network to support dense event optical flow, in which a Confidence-induced Detail Completion (CDC) module is proposed to preserve sharp motion boundaries. We conduct comprehensive experiments to show the exceptional performance and runtime efficiency (30x faster) of our EEMFlow model compared to the recent state-of-the-art flow method. As an extension, we expand HREM into HREM+, a multi-density event dataset contributing to a thorough study of the robustness of existing methods across data with varying densities, and propose an Adaptive Density Module (ADM) to adjust the density of input event data to a more optimal range, enhancing the model's generalization ability. We empirically demonstrate that ADM helps to significantly improve the performance of EEMFlow and EEMFlow+ by 8% and 10%, respectively. Coding-Prior Guided Diffusion Network for Video DeblurringYike Liu, Jianhui Zhang, Haipeng Li et al.
While recent video deblurring methods have advanced significantly, they often overlook two valuable prior information: (1) motion vectors (MVs) and coding residuals (CRs) from video codecs, which provide efficient inter-frame alignment cues, and (2) the rich real-world knowledge embedded in pre-trained diffusion generative models. We present CPGDNet, a novel two-stage framework that effectively leverages both coding priors and generative diffusion priors for high-quality deblurring. First, our coding-prior feature propagation (CPFP) module utilizes MVs for efficient frame alignment and CRs to generate attention masks, addressing motion inaccuracies and texture variations. Second, a coding-prior controlled generation (CPC) module network integrates coding priors into a pretrained diffusion model, guiding it to enhance critical regions and synthesize realistic details. Experiments demonstrate our method achieves state-of-the-art perceptual quality with up to 30% improvement in IQA metrics. Both the code and the codingprior-augmented dataset will be open-sourced.

DeepPanoContext: Panoramic 3D Scene Understanding with Holistic Scene Context Graph and Relation-based OptimizationCheng Zhang, Zhaopeng Cui, Cai Chen et al.
Panorama images have a much larger field-of-view thus naturally encode enriched scene context information compared to standard perspective images, which however is not well exploited in the previous scene understanding methods. In this paper, we propose a novel method for panoramic 3D scene understanding which recovers the 3D room layout and the shape, pose, position, and semantic category for each object from a single full-view panorama image. In order to fully utilize the rich context information, we design a novel graph neural network based context model to predict the relationship among objects and room layout, and a differentiable relationship-based optimization module to optimize object arrangement with well-designed objective functions on-the-fly. Realizing the existing data are either with incomplete ground truth or overly-simplified scene, we present a new synthetic dataset with good diversity in room layout and furniture placement, and realistic image quality for total panoramic 3D scene understanding. Experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on panoramic scene understanding in terms of both geometry accuracy and object arrangement. FINet: Dual Branches Feature Interaction for Partial-to-Partial Point Cloud RegistrationHao Xu, Nianjin Ye, Guanghui Liu et al.
Data association is important in the point cloud registration. In this work, we propose to solve the partial-to-partial registration from a new perspective, by introducing multi-level feature interactions between the source and the reference clouds at the feature extraction stage, such that the registration can be realized without the attentions or explicit mask estimation for the overlapping detection as adopted previously. Specifically, we present FINet, a feature interaction-based structure with the capability to enable and strengthen the information associating between the inputs at multiple stages. To achieve this, we first split the features into two components, one for rotation and one for translation, based on the fact that they belong to different solution spaces, yielding a dual branches structure. Second, we insert several interaction modules at the feature extractor for the data association. Third, we propose a transformation sensitivity loss to obtain rotation-attentive and translation-attentive features. Experiments demonstrate that our method performs higher precision and robustness compared to the state-of-the-art traditional and learning-based methods. OMNet: Learning Overlapping Mask for Partial-to-Partial Point Cloud RegistrationHao Xu, Shuaicheng Liu, Guangfu Wang et al.
Point cloud registration is a key task in many computational fields. Previous correspondence matching based methods require the inputs to have distinctive geometric structures to fit a 3D rigid transformation according to point-wise sparse feature matches. However, the accuracy of transformation heavily relies on the quality of extracted features, which are prone to errors with respect to partiality and noise. In addition, they can not utilize the geometric knowledge of all the overlapping regions. On the other hand, previous global feature based approaches can utilize the entire point cloud for the registration, however they ignore the negative effect of non-overlapping points when aggregating global features. In this paper, we present OMNet, a global feature based iterative network for partial-to-partial point cloud registration. We learn overlapping masks to reject non-overlapping regions, which converts the partial-to-partial registration to the registration of the same shape. Moreover, the previously used data is sampled only once from the CAD models for each object, resulting in the same point clouds for the source and reference. We propose a more practical manner of data generation where a CAD model is sampled twice for the source and reference, avoiding the previously prevalent over-fitting issue. MGANet: A Robust Model for Quality Enhancement of Compressed VideoXiandong Meng, Xuan Deng, Shuyuan Zhu et al.
In video compression, most of the existing deep learning approaches concentrate on the visual quality of a single frame, while ignoring the useful priors as well as the temporal information of adjacent frames. In this paper, we propose a multi-frame guided attention network (MGANet) to enhance the quality of compressed videos. Our network is composed of a temporal encoder that discovers inter-frame relations, a guided encoder-decoder subnet that encodes and enhances the visual patterns of target frame, and a multi-supervised reconstruction component that aggregates information to predict details. We design a bidirectional residual convolutional LSTM unit to implicitly discover frames variations over time with respect to the target frame. Meanwhile, the guided map is proposed to guide our network to concentrate more on the block boundary. Our approach takes advantage of intra-frame prior information and inter-frame information to improve the quality of compressed video. ExpoCM: Exposure-Aware One-Step Generative Single-Image HDR ReconstructionAoyu Liu, Zhen Liu, Ziyi Wang et al.
Single-image HDR reconstruction aims to recover high dynamic range radiance from a single low dynamic range (LDR) input, but remains highly ill-posed due to detail saturation in over-exposed regions and noise amplification in under-exposed areas. While recent diffusion-based approaches offer powerful generative priors, they often overlook the exposure-dependent nature of the degradation and incur substantial computational costs from iterative sampling. To address these challenges, we propose ExpoCM, a novel one-step generative HDR reconstruction framework that reformulates HDR reconstruction as a Probability Flow ODE (PF-ODE) and constructs exposure-aware consistency trajectories via exposure-dependent perturbations. Specifically, a soft exposure mask is first constructed to separate the LDR image into over-, under-, and well-exposed regions. Based on this partition, region-conditioned consistency trajectories are designed to hallucinate saturated details, suppress noise in dark regions, and preserve reliable structures within a single, distillation-free inference step. To further enhance perceptual quality, we introduce an Exposure-guided Luminance-Chromaticity Loss in the CIE~$\text{L}^*\text{a}^*\text{b}^*$ space, which assigns exposure-aware weights to luminance and chromaticity components, effectively mitigating brightness bias and color drift. Extensive experiments on the HDR-REAL, HDR-EYE, and AIM2025 benchmarks demonstrate that ExpoCM achieves state-of-the-art fidelity and perceptual accuracy, while enabling over 400$\times$ and 20$\times$ faster inference compared to DDPM (1000 steps) and DDIM (50 steps), respectively.

The Tenth NTIRE 2025 Efficient Super-Resolution Challenge ReportBin Ren, Hang Guo, Lei Sun et al.
This paper presents a comprehensive review of the NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Single-Image Efficient Super-Resolution (ESR). The challenge aimed to advance the development of deep models that optimize key computational metrics, i.e., runtime, parameters, and FLOPs, while achieving a PSNR of at least 26.90 dB on the $\operatorname{DIV2K\_LSDIR\_valid}$ dataset and 26.99 dB on the $\operatorname{DIV2K\_LSDIR\_test}$ dataset. A robust participation saw \textbf{244} registered entrants, with \textbf{43} teams submitting valid entries. This report meticulously analyzes these methods and results, emphasizing groundbreaking advancements in state-of-the-art single-image ESR techniques. The analysis highlights innovative approaches and establishes benchmarks for future research in the field.

Trajectory-aware Shifted State Space Models for Online Video Super-ResolutionQiang Zhu, Xiandong Meng, Yuxian Jiang et al.
Online video super-resolution (VSR) is an important technique for many real-world video processing applications, which aims to restore the current high-resolution video frame based on temporally previous frames. Most of the existing online VSR methods solely employ one neighboring previous frame to achieve temporal alignment, which limits long-range temporal modeling of videos. Recently, state space models (SSMs) have been proposed with linear computational complexity and a global receptive field, which significantly improve computational efficiency and performance. In this context, this paper presents a novel online VSR method based on Trajectory-aware Shifted SSMs (TS-Mamba), leveraging both long-term trajectory modeling and low-complexity Mamba to achieve efficient spatio-temporal information aggregation. Specifically, TS-Mamba first constructs the trajectories within a video to select the most similar tokens from the previous frames. Then, a Trajectory-aware Shifted Mamba Aggregation (TSMA) module consisting of proposed shifted SSMs blocks is employed to aggregate the selected tokens. The shifted SSMs blocks are designed based on Hilbert scannings and corresponding shift operations to compensate for scanning losses and strengthen the spatial continuity of Mamba. Additionally, we propose a trajectory-aware loss function to supervise the trajectory generation, ensuring the accuracy of token selection when training our model. Extensive experiments on three widely used VSR test datasets demonstrate that compared with six online VSR benchmark models, our TS-Mamba achieves state-of-the-art performance in most cases and over 22.7\% complexity reduction (in MACs). Compressed Video Super-Resolution based on Hierarchical EncodingYuxuan Jiang, Siyue Teng, Qiang Zhu et al.
This paper presents a general-purpose video super-resolution (VSR) method, dubbed VSR-HE, specifically designed to enhance the perceptual quality of compressed content. Targeting scenarios characterized by heavy compression, the method upscales low-resolution videos by a ratio of four, from 180p to 720p or from 270p to 1080p. VSR-HE adopts hierarchical encoding transformer blocks and has been sophisticatedly optimized to eliminate a wide range of compression artifacts commonly introduced by H.265/HEVC encoding across various quantization parameter (QP) levels. To ensure robustness and generalization, the model is trained and evaluated under diverse compression settings, allowing it to effectively restore fine-grained details and preserve visual fidelity. The proposed VSR-HE has been officially submitted to the ICME 2025 Grand Challenge on VSR for Video Conferencing (Team BVI-VSR), under both the Track 1 (General-Purpose Real-World Video Content) and Track 2 (Talking Head Videos).

NTIRE 2025 Challenge on Image Super-Resolution ($\times$4): Methods and ResultsZheng Chen, Kai Liu, Jue Gong et al.
This paper presents the NTIRE 2025 image super-resolution ($\times$4) challenge, one of the associated competitions of the 10th NTIRE Workshop at CVPR 2025. The challenge aims to recover high-resolution (HR) images from low-resolution (LR) counterparts generated through bicubic downsampling with a $\times$4 scaling factor. The objective is to develop effective network designs or solutions that achieve state-of-the-art SR performance. To reflect the dual objectives of image SR research, the challenge includes two sub-tracks: (1) a restoration track, emphasizes pixel-wise accuracy and ranks submissions based on PSNR; (2) a perceptual track, focuses on visual realism and ranks results by a perceptual score. A total of 286 participants registered for the competition, with 25 teams submitting valid entries. This report summarizes the challenge design, datasets, evaluation protocol, the main results, and methods of each team. The challenge serves as a benchmark to advance the state of the art and foster progress in image SR.

FCVSR: A Frequency-aware Method for Compressed Video Super-ResolutionQiang Zhu, Fan Zhang, Feiyu Chen et al.
Compressed video super-resolution (SR) aims to generate high-resolution (HR) videos from the corresponding low-resolution (LR) compressed videos. Recently, some compressed video SR methods attempt to exploit the spatio-temporal information in the frequency domain, showing great promise in super-resolution performance. However, these methods do not differentiate various frequency subbands spatially or capture the temporal frequency dynamics, potentially leading to suboptimal results. In this paper, we propose a deep frequency-based compressed video SR model (FCVSR) consisting of a motion-guided adaptive alignment (MGAA) network and a multi-frequency feature refinement (MFFR) module. Additionally, a frequency-aware contrastive loss is proposed for training FCVSR, in order to reconstruct finer spatial details. The proposed model has been evaluated on three public compressed video super-resolution datasets, with results demonstrating its effectiveness when compared to existing works in terms of super-resolution performance (up to a 0.14dB gain in PSNR over the second-best model) and complexity.

Estimating 2D Camera Motion with Hybrid Motion BasisHaipeng Li, Tianhao Zhou, Zhanglei Yang et al.
Estimating 2D camera motion is a fundamental computer vision task that models the projection of 3D camera movements onto the 2D image plane. Current methods rely on either homography-based approaches, limited to planar scenes, or meshflow techniques that use grid-based local homographies but struggle with complex non-linear transformations. A key insight of our work is that combining flow fields from different homographies creates motion patterns that cannot be represented by any single homography. We introduce CamFlow, a novel framework that represents camera motion using hybrid motion bases: physical bases derived from camera geometry and stochastic bases for complex scenarios. Our approach includes a hybrid probabilistic loss function based on the Laplace distribution that enhances training robustness. For evaluation, we create a new benchmark by masking dynamic objects in existing optical flow datasets to isolate pure camera motion. Experiments show CamFlow outperforms state-of-the-art methods across diverse scenarios, demonstrating superior robustness and generalization in zero-shot settings. Compressed Video Quality Enhancement with Temporal Group Alignment and FusionQiang Zhu, Yajun Qiu, Yu Liu et al.
In this paper, we propose a temporal group alignment and fusion network to enhance the quality of compressed videos by using the long-short term correlations between frames. The proposed model consists of the intra-group feature alignment (IntraGFA) module, the inter-group feature fusion (InterGFF) module, and the feature enhancement (FE) module. We form the group of pictures (GoP) by selecting frames from the video according to their temporal distances to the target enhanced frame. With this grouping, the composed GoP can contain either long- or short-term correlated information of neighboring frames. We design the IntraGFA module to align the features of frames of each GoP to eliminate the motion existing between frames. We construct the InterGFF module to fuse features belonging to different GoPs and finally enhance the fused features with the FE module to generate high-quality video frames. The experimental results show that our proposed method achieves up to 0.05dB gain and lower complexity compared to the state-of-the-art method.

Multiple Latent Space Mapping for Compressed Dark Image EnhancementYi Zeng, Zhengning Wang, Yuxuan Liu et al.
Dark image enhancement aims at converting dark images to normal-light images. Existing dark image enhancement methods take uncompressed dark images as inputs and achieve great performance. However, in practice, dark images are often compressed before storage or transmission over the Internet. Current methods get poor performance when processing compressed dark images. Artifacts hidden in the dark regions are amplified by current methods, which results in uncomfortable visual effects for observers. Based on this observation, this study aims at enhancing compressed dark images while avoiding compression artifacts amplification. Since texture details intertwine with compression artifacts in compressed dark images, detail enhancement and blocking artifacts suppression contradict each other in image space. Therefore, we handle the task in latent space. To this end, we propose a novel latent mapping network based on variational auto-encoder (VAE). Firstly, different from previous VAE-based methods with single-resolution features only, we exploit multiple latent spaces with multi-resolution features, to reduce the detail blur and improve image fidelity. Specifically, we train two multi-level VAEs to project compressed dark images and normal-light images into their latent spaces respectively. Secondly, we leverage a latent mapping network to transform features from compressed dark space to normal-light space. Specifically, since the degradation models of darkness and compression are different from each other, the latent mapping process is divided mapping into enlightening branch and deblocking branch. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance in compressed dark image enhancement.

Cross-Block Difference Guided Fast CU Partition for VVC Intra CodingHewei Liu, Shuyuan Zhu, Ruiqin Xiong et al.
In this paper, we propose a new fast CU partition algorithm for VVC intra coding based on cross-block difference. This difference is measured by the gradient and the content of sub-blocks obtained from partition and is employed to guide the skipping of unnecessary horizontal and vertical partition modes. With this guidance, a fast determination of block partitions is accordingly achieved. Compared with VVC, our proposed method can save 41.64% (on average) encoding time with only 0.97% (on average) increase of BD-rate.

Holistic 3D Scene Understanding from a Single Image with Implicit RepresentationCheng Zhang, Zhaopeng Cui, Yinda Zhang et al.
We present a new pipeline for holistic 3D scene understanding from a single image, which could predict object shapes, object poses, and scene layout. As it is a highly ill-posed problem, existing methods usually suffer from inaccurate estimation of both shapes and layout especially for the cluttered scene due to the heavy occlusion between objects. We propose to utilize the latest deep implicit representation to solve this challenge. We not only propose an image-based local structured implicit network to improve the object shape estimation, but also refine the 3D object pose and scene layout via a novel implicit scene graph neural network that exploits the implicit local object features. A novel physical violation loss is also proposed to avoid incorrect context between objects. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of object shape, scene layout estimation, and 3D object detection.

UPHDR-GAN: Generative Adversarial Network for High Dynamic Range Imaging with Unpaired DataRu Li, Chuan Wang, Jue Wang et al.
The paper proposes a method to effectively fuse multi-exposure inputs and generate high-quality high dynamic range (HDR) images with unpaired datasets. Deep learning-based HDR image generation methods rely heavily on paired datasets. The ground truth images play a leading role in generating reasonable HDR images. Datasets without ground truth are hard to be applied to train deep neural networks. Recently, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) have demonstrated their potentials of translating images from source domain X to target domain Y in the absence of paired examples. In this paper, we propose a GAN-based network for solving such problems while generating enjoyable HDR results, named UPHDR-GAN. The proposed method relaxes the constraint of the paired dataset and learns the mapping from the LDR domain to the HDR domain. Although the pair data are missing, UPHDR-GAN can properly handle the ghosting artifacts caused by moving objects or misalignments with the help of the modified GAN loss, the improved discriminator network and the useful initialization phase. The proposed method preserves the details of important regions and improves the total image perceptual quality. Qualitative and quantitative comparisons against the representative methods demonstrate the superiority of the proposed UPHDR-GAN.

JigsawGAN: Auxiliary Learning for Solving Jigsaw Puzzles with Generative Adversarial NetworksRu Li, Shuaicheng Liu, Guangfu Wang et al.
The paper proposes a solution based on Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) for solving jigsaw puzzles. The problem assumes that an image is divided into equal square pieces, and asks to recover the image according to information provided by the pieces. Conventional jigsaw puzzle solvers often determine the relationships based on the boundaries of pieces, which ignore the important semantic information. In this paper, we propose JigsawGAN, a GAN-based auxiliary learning method for solving jigsaw puzzles with unpaired images (with no prior knowledge of the initial images). We design a multi-task pipeline that includes, (1) a classification branch to classify jigsaw permutations, and (2) a GAN branch to recover features to images in correct orders. The classification branch is constrained by the pseudo-labels generated according to the shuffled pieces. The GAN branch concentrates on the image semantic information, where the generator produces the natural images to fool the discriminator, while the discriminator distinguishes whether a given image belongs to the synthesized or the real target domain. These two branches are connected by a flow-based warp module that is applied to warp features to correct the order according to the classification results. The proposed method can solve jigsaw puzzles more efficiently by utilizing both semantic information and boundary information simultaneously. Qualitative and quantitative comparisons against several representative jigsaw puzzle solvers demonstrate the superiority of our method.

Rethinking Image Deraining via Rain Streaks and VaporsYinglong Wang, Yibing Song, Chao Ma et al.
Single image deraining regards an input image as a fusion of a background image, a transmission map, rain streaks, and atmosphere light. While advanced models are proposed for image restoration (i.e., background image generation), they regard rain streaks with the same properties as background rather than transmission medium. As vapors (i.e., rain streaks accumulation or fog-like rain) are conveyed in the transmission map to model the veiling effect, the fusion of rain streaks and vapors do not naturally reflect the rain image formation. In this work, we reformulate rain streaks as transmission medium together with vapors to model rain imaging. We propose an encoder-decoder CNN named as SNet to learn the transmission map of rain streaks. As rain streaks appear with various shapes and directions, we use ShuffleNet units within SNet to capture their anisotropic representations. As vapors are brought by rain streaks, we propose a VNet containing spatial pyramid pooling (SSP) to predict the transmission map of vapors in multi-scales based on that of rain streaks. Meanwhile, we use an encoder CNN named ANet to estimate atmosphere light. The SNet, VNet, and ANet are jointly trained to predict transmission maps and atmosphere light for rain image restoration. Extensive experiments on the benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed visual model to predict rain streaks and vapors. The proposed deraining method performs favorably against state-of-the-art deraining approaches.

Stereo RGB and Deeper LIDAR Based Network for 3D Object DetectionQingdong He, Zhengning Wang, Hao Zeng et al.
3D object detection has become an emerging task in autonomous driving scenarios. Previous works process 3D point clouds using either projection-based or voxel-based models. However, both approaches contain some drawbacks. The voxel-based methods lack semantic information, while the projection-based methods suffer from numerous spatial information loss when projected to different views. In this paper, we propose the Stereo RGB and Deeper LIDAR (SRDL) framework which can utilize semantic and spatial information simultaneously such that the performance of network for 3D object detection can be improved naturally. Specifically, the network generates candidate boxes from stereo pairs and combines different region-wise features using a deep fusion scheme. The stereo strategy offers more information for prediction compared with prior works. Then, several local and global feature extractors are stacked in the segmentation module to capture richer deep semantic geometric features from point clouds. After aligning the interior points with fused features, the proposed network refines the prediction in a more accurate manner and encodes the whole box in a novel compact method. The decent experimental results on the challenging KITTI detection benchmark demonstrate the effectiveness of utilizing both stereo images and point clouds for 3D object detection.

SlimConv: Reducing Channel Redundancy in Convolutional Neural Networks by Weights FlippingJiaxiong Qiu, Cai Chen, Shuaicheng Liu et al.
The channel redundancy in feature maps of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) results in the large consumption of memories and computational resources. In this work, we design a novel Slim Convolution (SlimConv) module to boost the performance of CNNs by reducing channel redundancies. Our SlimConv consists of three main steps: Reconstruct, Transform and Fuse, through which the features are splitted and reorganized in a more efficient way, such that the learned weights can be compressed effectively. In particular, the core of our model is a weight flipping operation which can largely improve the feature diversities, contributing to the performance crucially. Our SlimConv is a plug-and-play architectural unit which can be used to replace convolutional layers in CNNs directly. We validate the effectiveness of SlimConv by conducting comprehensive experiments on ImageNet, MS COCO2014, Pascal VOC2012 segmentation, and Pascal VOC2007 detection datasets. The experiments show that SlimConv-equipped models can achieve better performances consistently, less consumption of memory and computation resources than non-equipped conterparts. For example, the ResNet-101 fitted with SlimConv achieves 77.84% top-1 classification accuracy with 4.87 GFLOPs and 27.96M parameters on ImageNet, which shows almost 0.5% better performance with about 3 GFLOPs and 38% parameters reduced.

Neural Point Cloud Rendering via Multi-Plane ProjectionPeng Dai, Yinda Zhang, Zhuwen Li et al.
We present a new deep point cloud rendering pipeline through multi-plane projections. The input to the network is the raw point cloud of a scene and the output are image or image sequences from a novel view or along a novel camera trajectory. Unlike previous approaches that directly project features from 3D points onto 2D image domain, we propose to project these features into a layered volume of camera frustum. In this way, the visibility of 3D points can be automatically learnt by the network, such that ghosting effects due to false visibility check as well as occlusions caused by noise interferences are both avoided successfully. Next, the 3D feature volume is fed into a 3D CNN to produce multiple layers of images w.r.t. the space division in the depth directions. The layered images are then blended based on learned weights to produce the final rendering results. Experiments show that our network produces more stable renderings compared to previous methods, especially near the object boundaries. Moreover, our pipeline is robust to noisy and relatively sparse point cloud for a variety of challenging scenes.

Arithmetic addition of two integers by deep image classification networks: experiments to quantify their autonomous reasoning abilityShuaicheng Liu, Zehao Zhang, Kai Song et al.
The unprecedented performance achieved by deep convolutional neural networks for image classification is linked primarily to their ability of capturing rich structural features at various layers within networks. Here we design a series of experiments, inspired by children's learning of the arithmetic addition of two integers, to showcase that such deep networks can go beyond the structural features to learn deeper knowledge. In our experiments, a set of images is constructed, each image containing an arithmetic addition $n+m$ in its central area, and several classification networks are then trained over a subset of images, using the sum as the label. Tests on the excluded images show that, as the image set gets larger, the networks have well learnt the law of arithmetic additions so as to build up their autonomous reasoning ability strongly. For instance, networks trained over a small percentage of images can classify a big majority of the remaining images correctly, and many arithmetic additions involving some integers that have never been seen during the training can also be solved correctly by the trained networks.

Deep Image Deraining Via Intrinsic Rainy Image Priors and Multi-scale Auxiliary DecodingYinglong Wang, Chao Ma, Bing Zeng
Different rain models and novel network structures have been proposed to remove rain streaks from single rainy images. In this work, we bring attention to the intrinsic priors and multi-scale features of the rainy images, and develop several intrinsic loss functions to train a CNN deraining network. We first study the sparse priors of rainy images, which have been verified to preserve unbroken edges in image decomposition. However, its mathematical formulation usually leads to an intractable solution, we propose quasi-sparsity priors to decrease complexity, so that our network can be trained under the supervision of sparse properties of rainy images. Quasi-sparsity supervises network training in different gradient domain which is still ill-posed to decompose a rainy image into rain layer and background layer. We develop another $L_1$ loss based on the intrinsic low-value property of rain layer to restore image contents together with the commonly-used $L_1$ similarity loss. Multi-scale features are further explored via a multi-scale auxiliary decoding structure to show which kinds of features contribute the most to the deraining task, and the corresponding multi-scale auxiliary loss improves the deraining performance further. In our network, more efficient group convolution and feature sharing are utilized to obtain an one order of magnitude improvement in network running speed. The proposed deraining method performs favorably against state-of-the-art deraining approaches.

In recent years, deep learning based methods have made significant progress in rain-removing. However, the existing methods usually do not have good generalization ability, which leads to the fact that almost all of existing methods have a satisfied performance on removing a specific type of rain streaks, but may have a relatively poor performance on other types of rain streaks. In this paper, aiming at removing multiple types of rain streaks from single images, we propose a novel deraining framework (GRASPP-GAN), which has better generalization capacity. Specifically, a modified ResNet-18 which extracts the deep features of rainy images and a revised ASPP structure which adapts to the various shapes and sizes of rain streaks are composed together to form the backbone of our deraining network. Taking the more prominent characteristics of rain streaks in the gradient domain into consideration, a gradient loss is introduced to help to supervise our deraining training process, for which, a Sobel convolution layer is built to extract the gradient information flexibly. To further boost the performance, an adversarial learning scheme is employed for the first time to train the proposed network. Extensive experiments on both real-world and synthetic datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art deraining methods quantitatively and qualitatively. In addition, without any modifications, our proposed framework also achieves good visual performance on dehazing.

Deep Single Image Deraining Via Estimating Transmission and Atmospheric Light in rainy ScenesYinglong Wang, Qinfeng Shi, Ehsan Abbasnejad et al.
Rain removal in images/videos is still an important task in computer vision field and attracting attentions of more and more people. Traditional methods always utilize some incomplete priors or filters (e.g. guided filter) to remove rain effect. Deep learning gives more probabilities to better solve this task. However, they remove rain either by evaluating background from rainy image directly or learning a rain residual first then subtracting the residual to obtain a clear background. No other models are used in deep learning based de-raining methods to remove rain and obtain other information about rainy scenes. In this paper, we utilize an extensively-used image degradation model which is derived from atmospheric scattering principles to model the formation of rainy images and try to learn the transmission, atmospheric light in rainy scenes and remove rain further. To reach this goal, we propose a robust evaluation method of global atmospheric light in a rainy scene. Instead of using the estimated atmospheric light directly to learn a network to calculate transmission, we utilize it as ground truth and design a simple but novel triangle-shaped network structure to learn atmospheric light for every rainy image, then fine-tune the network to obtain a better estimation of atmospheric light during the training of transmission network. Furthermore, more efficient ShuffleNet Units are utilized in transmission network to learn transmission map and the de-raining image is then obtained by the image degradation model. By subjective and objective comparisons, our method outperforms the selected state-of-the-art works.

An Effective Two-Branch Model-Based Deep Network for Single Image DerainingYinglong Wang, Dong Gong, Jie Yang et al.
Removing rain effects from an image is of importance for various applications such as autonomous driving, drone piloting, and photo editing. Conventional methods rely on some heuristics to handcraft various priors to remove or separate the rain effects from an image. Recent deep learning models are proposed to learn end-to-end methods to complete this task. However, they often fail to obtain satisfactory results in many realistic scenarios, especially when the observed images suffer from heavy rain. Heavy rain brings not only rain streaks but also haze-like effect caused by the accumulation of tiny raindrops. Different from the existing deep learning deraining methods that mainly focus on handling the rain streaks, we design a deep neural network by incorporating a physical raining image model. Specifically, in the proposed model, two branches are designed to handle both the rain streaks and haze-like effects. An additional submodule is jointly trained to finally refine the results, which give the model flexibility to control the strength of removing the mist. Extensive experiments on several datasets show that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art in both objective assessments and visual quality.

In this paper, we propose a quality enhancement network of versatile video coding (VVC) compressed videos by jointly exploiting spatial details and temporal structure (SDTS). The proposed network consists of a temporal structure fusion subnet and a spatial detail enhancement subnet. The former subnet is used to estimate and compensate the temporal motion across frames, and the latter subnet is used to reduce the compression artifacts and enhance the reconstruction quality of compressed video. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our SDTS-based method.

Rain streaks will inevitably be captured by some outdoor vision systems, which lowers the image visual quality and also interferes various computer vision applications. We present a novel rain removal method in this paper, which consists of two steps, i.e., detection of rain streaks and reconstruction of the rain-removed image. An accurate detection of rain streaks determines the quality of the overall performance. To this end, we first detect rain streaks according to pixel intensities, motivated by the observation that rain streaks often possess higher intensities compared to other neighboring image structures. Some mis-detected locations are then refined through a morphological processing and the principal component analysis (PCA) such that only locations corresponding to real rain streaks are retained. In the second step, we separate image gradients into a background layer and a rain streak layer, thanks to the image quasi-sparsity prior, so that a rain image can be decomposed into a background layer and a rain layer. We validate the effectiveness of our method through quantitative and qualitative evaluations. We show that our method can remove rain (even for some relatively bright rain) from images robustly and outperforms some state-of-the-art rain removal algorithms.

Removing rain streaks from a single image continues to draw attentions today in outdoor vision systems. In this paper, we present an efficient method to remove rain streaks. First, the location map of rain pixels needs to be known as precisely as possible, to which we implement a relatively accurate detection of rain streaks by utilizing two characteristics of rain streaks.The key component of our method is to represent the intensity of each detected rain pixel using a linear model: $p=αs + β$, where $p$ is the observed intensity of a rain pixel and $s$ represents the intensity of the background (i.e., before rain-affected). To solve $α$ and $β$ for each detected rain pixel, we concentrate on a window centered around it and form an $L_2$-norm cost function by considering all detected rain pixels within the window, where the corresponding rain-removed intensity of each detected rain pixel is estimated by some neighboring non-rain pixels. By minimizing this cost function, we determine $α$ and $β$ so as to construct the final rain-removed pixel intensity. Compared with several state-of-the-art works, our proposed method can remove rain streaks from a single color image much more efficiently - it offers not only a better visual quality but also a speed-up of several times to one degree of magnitude.
