We introduce Nemotron Nano V2 VL, the latest model of the Nemotron vision-language series designed for strong real-world document understanding, long video comprehension, and reasoning tasks. Nemotron Nano V2 VL delivers significant improvements over our previous model, Llama-3.1-Nemotron-Nano-VL-8B, across all vision and text domains through major enhancements in model architecture, datasets, and training recipes. Nemotron Nano V2 VL builds on Nemotron Nano V2, a hybrid Mamba-Transformer LLM, and innovative token reduction techniques to achieve higher inference throughput in long document and video scenarios. We are releasing model checkpoints in BF16, FP8, and FP4 formats and sharing large parts of our datasets, recipes and training code.

R-DFCIL: Relation-Guided Representation Learning for Data-Free Class Incremental LearningQiankun Gao, Chen Zhao, Bernard Ghanem et al. · pku
Class-Incremental Learning (CIL) struggles with catastrophic forgetting when learning new knowledge, and Data-Free CIL (DFCIL) is even more challenging without access to the training data of previously learned classes. Though recent DFCIL works introduce techniques such as model inversion to synthesize data for previous classes, they fail to overcome forgetting due to the severe domain gap between the synthetic and real data. To address this issue, this paper proposes relation-guided representation learning (RRL) for DFCIL, dubbed R-DFCIL. In RRL, we introduce relational knowledge distillation to flexibly transfer the structural relation of new data from the old model to the current model. Our RRL-boosted DFCIL can guide the current model to learn representations of new classes better compatible with representations of previous classes, which greatly reduces forgetting while improving plasticity. To avoid the mutual interference between representation and classifier learning, we employ local rather than global classification loss during RRL. After RRL, the classification head is refined with global class-balanced classification loss to address the data imbalance issue as well as learn the decision boundaries between new and previous classes. Extensive experiments on CIFAR100, Tiny-ImageNet200, and ImageNet100 demonstrate that our R-DFCIL significantly surpasses previous approaches and achieves a new state-of-the-art performance for DFCIL. Nemotron 3 Super: Open, Efficient Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Transformer Model for Agentic ReasoningAakshita Chandiramani, Aaron Blakeman, Abdullahi Olaoye et al. · amazon-science, cmu
We describe the pre-training, post-training, and quantization of Nemotron 3 Super, a 120 billion (active 12 billion) parameter hybrid Mamba-Attention Mixture-of-Experts model. Nemotron 3 Super is the first model in the Nemotron 3 family to 1) be pre-trained in NVFP4, 2) leverage LatentMoE, a new Mixture-of-Experts architecture that optimizes for both accuracy per FLOP and accuracy per parameter, and 3) include MTP layers for inference acceleration through native speculative decoding. We pre-trained Nemotron 3 Super on 25 trillion tokens followed by post-training using supervised fine tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL). The final model supports up to 1M context length and achieves comparable accuracy on common benchmarks, while also achieving up to 2.2x and 7.5x higher inference throughput compared to GPT-OSS-120B and Qwen3.5-122B, respectively. Nemotron 3 Super datasets, along with the base, post-trained, and quantized checkpoints, are open-sourced on HuggingFace.

EDA: Explicit Text-Decoupling and Dense Alignment for 3D Visual GroundingYanmin Wu, Xinhua Cheng, Renrui Zhang et al. · pku
3D visual grounding aims to find the object within point clouds mentioned by free-form natural language descriptions with rich semantic cues. However, existing methods either extract the sentence-level features coupling all words or focus more on object names, which would lose the word-level information or neglect other attributes. To alleviate these issues, we present EDA that Explicitly Decouples the textual attributes in a sentence and conducts Dense Alignment between such fine-grained language and point cloud objects. Specifically, we first propose a text decoupling module to produce textual features for every semantic component. Then, we design two losses to supervise the dense matching between two modalities: position alignment loss and semantic alignment loss. On top of that, we further introduce a new visual grounding task, locating objects without object names, which can thoroughly evaluate the model's dense alignment capacity. Through experiments, we achieve state-of-the-art performance on two widely-adopted 3D visual grounding datasets, ScanRefer and SR3D/NR3D, and obtain absolute leadership on our newly-proposed task. TextWand: A Unified Framework for Scene Text EditingShuyu Wang, Zhile Guan, Hongxiu Chen et al.
We propose TextWand, a general-purpose framework that unifies scene text removal, generation, and replacement into a single model. By decomposing complex editing tasks into the atomic primitives of rendering and erasure, TextWand achieves precise control over both text appearance and background integrity. Specifically, we introduce a novel design, Overlay-Reference Positional Encoding (ORPE), to enforce pixel-level layout fidelity and exemplar-driven style control, alongside a new strategy, Region-Adaptive Suppression (RAS), to ensure clean text erasure. To address the absence of a comprehensive benchmark for general-purpose scene text editing among existing single-task datasets, we construct TextWand-Bench. Extensive experiments demonstrate that TextWand outperforms existing leading open-source and closed-source models by delivering superior text content accuracy, layout and style consistency, and overall image quality across scene text removal, generation and replacement tasks.

Frequency Domain Model Augmentation for Adversarial AttackYuyang Long, Qilong Zhang, Boheng Zeng et al.
For black-box attacks, the gap between the substitute model and the victim model is usually large, which manifests as a weak attack performance. Motivated by the observation that the transferability of adversarial examples can be improved by attacking diverse models simultaneously, model augmentation methods which simulate different models by using transformed images are proposed. However, existing transformations for spatial domain do not translate to significantly diverse augmented models. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel spectrum simulation attack to craft more transferable adversarial examples against both normally trained and defense models. Specifically, we apply a spectrum transformation to the input and thus perform the model augmentation in the frequency domain. We theoretically prove that the transformation derived from frequency domain leads to a diverse spectrum saliency map, an indicator we proposed to reflect the diversity of substitute models. Notably, our method can be generally combined with existing attacks. Extensive experiments on the ImageNet dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, \textit{e.g.}, attacking nine state-of-the-art defense models with an average success rate of \textbf{95.4\%}. A Unified Continual Learning Framework with General Parameter-Efficient TuningQiankun Gao, Chen Zhao, Yifan Sun et al.
The "pre-training $\rightarrow$ downstream adaptation" presents both new opportunities and challenges for Continual Learning (CL). Although the recent state-of-the-art in CL is achieved through Parameter-Efficient-Tuning (PET) adaptation paradigm, only prompt has been explored, limiting its application to Transformers only. In this paper, we position prompting as one instantiation of PET, and propose a unified CL framework with general PET, dubbed as Learning-Accumulation-Ensemble (LAE). PET, e.g., using Adapter, LoRA, or Prefix, can adapt a pre-trained model to downstream tasks with fewer parameters and resources. Given a PET method, our LAE framework incorporates it for CL with three novel designs. 1) Learning: the pre-trained model adapts to the new task by tuning an online PET module, along with our adaptation speed calibration to align different PET modules, 2) Accumulation: the task-specific knowledge learned by the online PET module is accumulated into an offline PET module through momentum update, 3) Ensemble: During inference, we respectively construct two experts with online/offline PET modules (which are favored by the novel/historical tasks) for prediction ensemble. We show that LAE is compatible with a battery of PET methods and gains strong CL capability. For example, LAE with Adaptor PET surpasses the prior state-of-the-art by 1.3% and 3.6% in last-incremental accuracy on CIFAR100 and ImageNet-R datasets, respectively. Implicit Neural Representation for Cooperative Low-light Image EnhancementShuzhou Yang, Moxuan Ding, Yanmin Wu et al. · pku, uw
The following three factors restrict the application of existing low-light image enhancement methods: unpredictable brightness degradation and noise, inherent gap between metric-favorable and visual-friendly versions, and the limited paired training data. To address these limitations, we propose an implicit Neural Representation method for Cooperative low-light image enhancement, dubbed NeRCo. It robustly recovers perceptual-friendly results in an unsupervised manner. Concretely, NeRCo unifies the diverse degradation factors of real-world scenes with a controllable fitting function, leading to better robustness. In addition, for the output results, we introduce semantic-orientated supervision with priors from the pre-trained vision-language model. Instead of merely following reference images, it encourages results to meet subjective expectations, finding more visual-friendly solutions. Further, to ease the reliance on paired data and reduce solution space, we develop a dual-closed-loop constrained enhancement module. It is trained cooperatively with other affiliated modules in a self-supervised manner. Finally, extensive experiments demonstrate the robustness and superior effectiveness of our proposed NeRCo. Large-capacity and Flexible Video Steganography via Invertible Neural NetworkChong Mou, Youmin Xu, Jiechong Song et al.
Video steganography is the art of unobtrusively concealing secret data in a cover video and then recovering the secret data through a decoding protocol at the receiver end. Although several attempts have been made, most of them are limited to low-capacity and fixed steganography. To rectify these weaknesses, we propose a Large-capacity and Flexible Video Steganography Network (LF-VSN) in this paper. For large-capacity, we present a reversible pipeline to perform multiple videos hiding and recovering through a single invertible neural network (INN). Our method can hide/recover 7 secret videos in/from 1 cover video with promising performance. For flexibility, we propose a key-controllable scheme, enabling different receivers to recover particular secret videos from the same cover video through specific keys. Moreover, we further improve the flexibility by proposing a scalable strategy in multiple videos hiding, which can hide variable numbers of secret videos in a cover video with a single model and a single training session. Extensive experiments demonstrate that with the significant improvement of the video steganography performance, our proposed LF-VSN has high security, large hiding capacity, and flexibility. Optimization-Inspired Cross-Attention Transformer for Compressive SensingJiechong Song, Chong Mou, Shiqi Wang et al.
By integrating certain optimization solvers with deep neural networks, deep unfolding network (DUN) with good interpretability and high performance has attracted growing attention in compressive sensing (CS). However, existing DUNs often improve the visual quality at the price of a large number of parameters and have the problem of feature information loss during iteration. In this paper, we propose an Optimization-inspired Cross-attention Transformer (OCT) module as an iterative process, leading to a lightweight OCT-based Unfolding Framework (OCTUF) for image CS. Specifically, we design a novel Dual Cross Attention (Dual-CA) sub-module, which consists of an Inertia-Supplied Cross Attention (ISCA) block and a Projection-Guided Cross Attention (PGCA) block. ISCA block introduces multi-channel inertia forces and increases the memory effect by a cross attention mechanism between adjacent iterations. And, PGCA block achieves an enhanced information interaction, which introduces the inertia force into the gradient descent step through a cross attention block. Extensive CS experiments manifest that our OCTUF achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods while training lower complexity. DragonDiffusion: Enabling Drag-style Manipulation on Diffusion ModelsChong Mou, Xintao Wang, Jiechong Song et al.
Despite the ability of existing large-scale text-to-image (T2I) models to generate high-quality images from detailed textual descriptions, they often lack the ability to precisely edit the generated or real images. In this paper, we propose a novel image editing method, DragonDiffusion, enabling Drag-style manipulation on Diffusion models. Specifically, we construct classifier guidance based on the strong correspondence of intermediate features in the diffusion model. It can transform the editing signals into gradients via feature correspondence loss to modify the intermediate representation of the diffusion model. Based on this guidance strategy, we also build a multi-scale guidance to consider both semantic and geometric alignment. Moreover, a cross-branch self-attention is added to maintain the consistency between the original image and the editing result. Our method, through an efficient design, achieves various editing modes for the generated or real images, such as object moving, object resizing, object appearance replacement, and content dragging. It is worth noting that all editing and content preservation signals come from the image itself, and the model does not require fine-tuning or additional modules. MM-RealSR: Metric Learning based Interactive Modulation for Real-World Super-ResolutionChong Mou, Yanze Wu, Xintao Wang et al.
Interactive image restoration aims to restore images by adjusting several controlling coefficients, which determine the restoration strength. Existing methods are restricted in learning the controllable functions under the supervision of known degradation types and levels. They usually suffer from a severe performance drop when the real degradation is different from their assumptions. Such a limitation is due to the complexity of real-world degradations, which can not provide explicit supervision to the interactive modulation during training. However, how to realize the interactive modulation in real-world super-resolution has not yet been studied. In this work, we present a Metric Learning based Interactive Modulation for Real-World Super-Resolution (MM-RealSR). Specifically, we propose an unsupervised degradation estimation strategy to estimate the degradation level in real-world scenarios. Instead of using known degradation levels as explicit supervision to the interactive mechanism, we propose a metric learning strategy to map the unquantifiable degradation levels in real-world scenarios to a metric space, which is trained in an unsupervised manner. Moreover, we introduce an anchor point strategy in the metric learning process to normalize the distribution of metric space. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed MM-RealSR achieves excellent modulation and restoration performance in real-world super-resolution. Self-Supervised Object Goal Navigation with In-Situ FinetuningSo Yeon Min, Yao-Hung Hubert Tsai, Wei Ding et al. · cmu
A household robot should be able to navigate to target objects without requiring users to first annotate everything in their home. Most current approaches to object navigation do not test on real robots and rely solely on reconstructed scans of houses and their expensively labeled semantic 3D meshes. In this work, our goal is to build an agent that builds self-supervised models of the world via exploration, the same as a child might - thus we (1) eschew the expense of labeled 3D mesh and (2) enable self-supervised in-situ finetuning in the real world. We identify a strong source of self-supervision (Location Consistency - LocCon) that can train all components of an ObjectNav agent, using unannotated simulated houses. Our key insight is that embodied agents can leverage location consistency as a self-supervision signal - collecting images from different views/angles and applying contrastive learning. We show that our agent can perform competitively in the real world and simulation. Our results also indicate that supervised training with 3D mesh annotations causes models to learn simulation artifacts, which are not transferrable to the real world. In contrast, our LocCon shows the most robust transfer in the real world among the set of models we compare to, and that the real-world performance of all models can be further improved with self-supervised LocCon in-situ training.

Overlap-guided Gaussian Mixture Models for Point Cloud RegistrationGuofeng Mei, Fabio Poiesi, Cristiano Saltori et al.
Probabilistic 3D point cloud registration methods have shown competitive performance in overcoming noise, outliers, and density variations. However, registering point cloud pairs in the case of partial overlap is still a challenge. This paper proposes a novel overlap-guided probabilistic registration approach that computes the optimal transformation from matched Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) parameters. We reformulate the registration problem as the problem of aligning two Gaussian mixtures such that a statistical discrepancy measure between the two corresponding mixtures is minimized. We introduce a Transformer-based detection module to detect overlapping regions, and represent the input point clouds using GMMs by guiding their alignment through overlap scores computed by this detection module. Experiments show that our method achieves superior registration accuracy and efficiency than state-of-the-art methods when handling point clouds with partial overlap and different densities on synthetic and real-world datasets. https://github.com/gfmei/ogmm

Ray Priors through Reprojection: Improving Neural Radiance Fields for Novel View ExtrapolationJian Zhang, Yuanqing Zhang, Huan Fu et al. · stanford
Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) have emerged as a potent paradigm for representing scenes and synthesizing photo-realistic images. A main limitation of conventional NeRFs is that they often fail to produce high-quality renderings under novel viewpoints that are significantly different from the training viewpoints. In this paper, instead of exploiting few-shot image synthesis, we study the novel view extrapolation setting that (1) the training images can well describe an object, and (2) there is a notable discrepancy between the training and test viewpoints' distributions. We present RapNeRF (RAy Priors) as a solution. Our insight is that the inherent appearances of a 3D surface's arbitrary visible projections should be consistent. We thus propose a random ray casting policy that allows training unseen views using seen views. Furthermore, we show that a ray atlas pre-computed from the observed rays' viewing directions could further enhance the rendering quality for extrapolated views. A main limitation is that RapNeRF would remove the strong view-dependent effects because it leverages the multi-view consistency property.

HVTSurv: Hierarchical Vision Transformer for Patient-Level Survival Prediction from Whole Slide ImageZhuchen Shao, Yang Chen, Hao Bian et al.
Survival prediction based on whole slide images (WSIs) is a challenging task for patient-level multiple instance learning (MIL). Due to the vast amount of data for a patient (one or multiple gigapixels WSIs) and the irregularly shaped property of WSI, it is difficult to fully explore spatial, contextual, and hierarchical interaction in the patient-level bag. Many studies adopt random sampling pre-processing strategy and WSI-level aggregation models, which inevitably lose critical prognostic information in the patient-level bag. In this work, we propose a hierarchical vision Transformer framework named HVTSurv, which can encode the local-level relative spatial information, strengthen WSI-level context-aware communication, and establish patient-level hierarchical interaction. Firstly, we design a feature pre-processing strategy, including feature rearrangement and random window masking. Then, we devise three layers to progressively obtain patient-level representation, including a local-level interaction layer adopting Manhattan distance, a WSI-level interaction layer employing spatial shuffle, and a patient-level interaction layer using attention pooling. Moreover, the design of hierarchical network helps the model become more computationally efficient. Finally, we validate HVTSurv with 3,104 patients and 3,752 WSIs across 6 cancer types from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The average C-Index is 2.50-11.30% higher than all the prior weakly supervised methods over 6 TCGA datasets. Masked Vision-Language Transformers for Scene Text RecognitionJie Wu, Ying Peng, Shengming Zhang et al.
Scene text recognition (STR) enables computers to recognize and read the text in various real-world scenes. Recent STR models benefit from taking linguistic information in addition to visual cues into consideration. We propose a novel Masked Vision-Language Transformers (MVLT) to capture both the explicit and the implicit linguistic information. Our encoder is a Vision Transformer, and our decoder is a multi-modal Transformer. MVLT is trained in two stages: in the first stage, we design a STR-tailored pretraining method based on a masking strategy; in the second stage, we fine-tune our model and adopt an iterative correction method to improve the performance. Deep Generalized Unfolding Networks for Image RestorationChong Mou, Qian Wang, Jian Zhang
Deep neural networks (DNN) have achieved great success in image restoration. However, most DNN methods are designed as a black box, lacking transparency and interpretability. Although some methods are proposed to combine traditional optimization algorithms with DNN, they usually demand pre-defined degradation processes or handcrafted assumptions, making it difficult to deal with complex and real-world applications. In this paper, we propose a Deep Generalized Unfolding Network (DGUNet) for image restoration. Concretely, without loss of interpretability, we integrate a gradient estimation strategy into the gradient descent step of the Proximal Gradient Descent (PGD) algorithm, driving it to deal with complex and real-world image degradation. In addition, we design inter-stage information pathways across proximal mapping in different PGD iterations to rectify the intrinsic information loss in most deep unfolding networks (DUN) through a multi-scale and spatial-adaptive way. By integrating the flexible gradient descent and informative proximal mapping, we unfold the iterative PGD algorithm into a trainable DNN. Extensive experiments on various image restoration tasks demonstrate the superiority of our method in terms of state-of-the-art performance, interpretability, and generalizability. Generalizable Decision Boundaries: Dualistic Meta-Learning for Open Set Domain GeneralizationXiran Wang, Jian Zhang, Lei Qi et al.
Domain generalization (DG) is proposed to deal with the issue of domain shift, which occurs when statistical differences exist between source and target domains. However, most current methods do not account for a common realistic scenario where the source and target domains have different classes. To overcome this deficiency, open set domain generalization (OSDG) then emerges as a more practical setting to recognize unseen classes in unseen domains. An intuitive approach is to use multiple one-vs-all classifiers to define decision boundaries for each class and reject the outliers as unknown. However, the significant class imbalance between positive and negative samples often causes the boundaries biased towards positive ones, resulting in misclassification for known samples in the unseen target domain. In this paper, we propose a novel meta-learning-based framework called dualistic MEta-learning with joint DomaIn-Class matching (MEDIC), which considers gradient matching towards inter-domain and inter-class splits simultaneously to find a generalizable boundary balanced for all tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that MEDIC not only outperforms previous methods in open set scenarios, but also maintains competitive close set generalization ability at the same time. DomainAdaptor: A Novel Approach to Test-time AdaptationJian Zhang, Lei Qi, Yinghuan Shi et al.
To deal with the domain shift between training and test samples, current methods have primarily focused on learning generalizable features during training and ignore the specificity of unseen samples that are also critical during the test. In this paper, we investigate a more challenging task that aims to adapt a trained CNN model to unseen domains during the test. To maximumly mine the information in the test data, we propose a unified method called DomainAdaptor for the test-time adaptation, which consists of an AdaMixBN module and a Generalized Entropy Minimization (GEM) loss. Specifically, AdaMixBN addresses the domain shift by adaptively fusing training and test statistics in the normalization layer via a dynamic mixture coefficient and a statistic transformation operation. To further enhance the adaptation ability of AdaMixBN, we design a GEM loss that extends the Entropy Minimization loss to better exploit the information in the test data. Extensive experiments show that DomainAdaptor consistently outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on four benchmarks. SSPFusion: A Semantic Structure-Preserving Approach for Infrared and Visible Image FusionQiao Yang, Yu Zhang, Yutong Chen et al.
Most existing learning-based multi-modality image fusion (MMIF) methods suffer from significant structure inconsistency due to their inappropriate usage of structural features at the semantic level. To alleviate these issues, we propose a semantic structure-preserving fusion approach for MMIF, namely SSPFusion. At first, we design a structural feature extractor (SFE) to extract the prominent structural features from multiple input images. Concurrently, we introduce a transformation function with Sobel operator to generate self-supervised structural signals in these extracted features. Subsequently, we design a multi-scale structure-preserving fusion (SPF) module, guided by the generated structural signals, to merge the structural features of input images. This process ensures the preservation of semantic structure consistency between the resultant fusion image and the input images. Through the synergy of these two robust modules of SFE and SPF, our method can generate high-quality fusion images and demonstrate good generalization ability. Experimental results, on both infrared-visible image fusion and medical image fusion tasks, demonstrate that our method outperforms nine state-of-the-art methods in terms of both qualitative and quantitative evaluations. Content-aware Scalable Deep Compressed SensingBin Chen, Jian Zhang
To more efficiently address image compressed sensing (CS) problems, we present a novel content-aware scalable network dubbed CASNet which collectively achieves adaptive sampling rate allocation, fine granular scalability and high-quality reconstruction. We first adopt a data-driven saliency detector to evaluate the importances of different image regions and propose a saliency-based block ratio aggregation (BRA) strategy for sampling rate allocation. A unified learnable generating matrix is then developed to produce sampling matrix of any CS ratio with an ordered structure. Being equipped with the optimization-inspired recovery subnet guided by saliency information and a multi-block training scheme preventing blocking artifacts, CASNet jointly reconstructs the image blocks sampled at various sampling rates with one single model. To accelerate training convergence and improve network robustness, we propose an SVD-based initialization scheme and a random transformation enhancement (RTE) strategy, which are extensible without introducing extra parameters. All the CASNet components can be combined and learned end-to-end. We further provide a four-stage implementation for evaluation and practical deployments. Experiments demonstrate that CASNet outperforms other CS networks by a large margin, validating the collaboration and mutual supports among its components and strategies. Dynamic Path-Controllable Deep Unfolding Network for Compressive SensingJiechong Song, Bin Chen, Jian Zhang
Deep unfolding network (DUN) that unfolds the optimization algorithm into a deep neural network has achieved great success in compressive sensing (CS) due to its good interpretability and high performance. Each stage in DUN corresponds to one iteration in optimization. At the test time, all the sampling images generally need to be processed by all stages, which comes at a price of computation burden and is also unnecessary for the images whose contents are easier to restore. In this paper, we focus on CS reconstruction and propose a novel Dynamic Path-Controllable Deep Unfolding Network (DPC-DUN). DPC-DUN with our designed path-controllable selector can dynamically select a rapid and appropriate route for each image and is slimmable by regulating different performance-complexity tradeoffs. Extensive experiments show that our DPC-DUN is highly flexible and can provide excellent performance and dynamic adjustment to get a suitable tradeoff, thus addressing the main requirements to become appealing in practice. Recently, using diffusion models for zero-shot image restoration (IR) has become a new hot paradigm. This type of method only needs to use the pre-trained off-the-shelf diffusion models, without any finetuning, and can directly handle various IR tasks. The upper limit of the restoration performance depends on the pre-trained diffusion models, which are in rapid evolution. However, current methods only discuss how to deal with fixed-size images, but dealing with images of arbitrary sizes is very important for practical applications. This paper focuses on how to use those diffusion-based zero-shot IR methods to deal with any size while maintaining the excellent characteristics of zero-shot. A simple way to solve arbitrary size is to divide it into fixed-size patches and solve each patch independently. But this may yield significant artifacts since it neither considers the global semantics of all patches nor the local information of adjacent patches. Inspired by the Range-Null space Decomposition, we propose the Mask-Shift Restoration to address local incoherence and propose the Hierarchical Restoration to alleviate out-of-domain issues. Our simple, parameter-free approaches can be used not only for image restoration but also for image generation of unlimited sizes, with the potential to be a general tool for diffusion models. NVIDIA Nemotron Nano 2: An Accurate and Efficient Hybrid Mamba-Transformer Reasoning ModelAarti Basant, Abhijit Khairnar, Abhijit Paithankar et al. · nvidia
We introduce Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2, a hybrid Mamba-Transformer language model designed to increase throughput for reasoning workloads while achieving state-of-the-art accuracy compared to similarly-sized models. Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2 builds on the Nemotron-H architecture, in which the majority of the self-attention layers in the common Transformer architecture are replaced with Mamba-2 layers, to achieve improved inference speed when generating the long thinking traces needed for reasoning. We create Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2 by first pre-training a 12-billion-parameter model (Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2-Base) on 20 trillion tokens using an FP8 training recipe. After aligning Nemotron-Nano-12B-v2-Base, we employ the Minitron strategy to compress and distill the model with the goal of enabling inference on up to 128k tokens on a single NVIDIA A10G GPU (22GiB of memory, bfloat16 precision). Compared to existing similarly-sized models (e.g., Qwen3-8B), we show that Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2 achieves on-par or better accuracy on reasoning benchmarks while achieving up to 6x higher inference throughput in reasoning settings like 8k input and 16k output tokens. We are releasing Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2, Nemotron-Nano12B-v2-Base, and Nemotron-Nano-9B-v2-Base checkpoints along with the majority of our pre- and post-training datasets on Hugging Face.

T2I-Adapter: Learning Adapters to Dig out More Controllable Ability for Text-to-Image Diffusion ModelsChong Mou, Xintao Wang, Liangbin Xie et al.
The incredible generative ability of large-scale text-to-image (T2I) models has demonstrated strong power of learning complex structures and meaningful semantics. However, relying solely on text prompts cannot fully take advantage of the knowledge learned by the model, especially when flexible and accurate controlling (e.g., color and structure) is needed. In this paper, we aim to ``dig out" the capabilities that T2I models have implicitly learned, and then explicitly use them to control the generation more granularly. Specifically, we propose to learn simple and lightweight T2I-Adapters to align internal knowledge in T2I models with external control signals, while freezing the original large T2I models. In this way, we can train various adapters according to different conditions, achieving rich control and editing effects in the color and structure of the generation results. Further, the proposed T2I-Adapters have attractive properties of practical value, such as composability and generalization ability. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our T2I-Adapter has promising generation quality and a wide range of applications.

EditHF-1M: A Million-Scale Rich Human Preference Feedback for Image EditingZitong Xu, Huiyu Duan, Zhongpeng Ji et al.
Recent text-guided image editing (TIE) models have achieved remarkable progress, while many edited images still suffer from issues such as artifacts, unexpected editings, unaesthetic contents. Although some benchmarks and methods have been proposed for evaluating edited images, scalable evaluation models are still lacking, which limits the development of human feedback reward models for image editing. To address the challenges, we first introduce \textbf{EditHF-1M}, a million-scale image editing dataset with over 29M human preference pairs and 148K human mean opinion ratings, both evaluated from three dimensions, \textit{i.e.}, visual quality, instruction alignment, and attribute preservation. Based on EditHF-1M, we propose \textbf{EditHF}, a multimodal large language model (MLLM) based evaluation model, to provide human-aligned feedback from image editing. Finally, we introduce \textbf{EditHF-Reward}, which utilizes EditHF as the reward signal to optimize the text-guided image editing models through reinforcement learning. Extensive experiments show that EditHF achieves superior alignment with human preferences and demonstrates strong generalization on other datasets. Furthermore, we fine-tune the Qwen-Image-Edit using EditHF-Reward, achieving significant performance improvements, which demonstrates the ability of EditHF to serve as a reward model to scale-up the image editing. FreeDoM: Training-Free Energy-Guided Conditional Diffusion ModelJiwen Yu, Yinhuai Wang, Chen Zhao et al.
Recently, conditional diffusion models have gained popularity in numerous applications due to their exceptional generation ability. However, many existing methods are training-required. They need to train a time-dependent classifier or a condition-dependent score estimator, which increases the cost of constructing conditional diffusion models and is inconvenient to transfer across different conditions. Some current works aim to overcome this limitation by proposing training-free solutions, but most can only be applied to a specific category of tasks and not to more general conditions. In this work, we propose a training-Free conditional Diffusion Model (FreeDoM) used for various conditions. Specifically, we leverage off-the-shelf pre-trained networks, such as a face detection model, to construct time-independent energy functions, which guide the generation process without requiring training. Furthermore, because the construction of the energy function is very flexible and adaptable to various conditions, our proposed FreeDoM has a broader range of applications than existing training-free methods. FreeDoM is advantageous in its simplicity, effectiveness, and low cost. Experiments demonstrate that FreeDoM is effective for various conditions and suitable for diffusion models of diverse data domains, including image and latent code domains.

Learning Weighting Map for Bit-Depth Expansion within a Rational RangeYuqing Liu, Qi Jia, Jian Zhang et al.
Bit-depth expansion (BDE) is one of the emerging technologies to display high bit-depth (HBD) image from low bit-depth (LBD) source. Existing BDE methods have no unified solution for various BDE situations, and directly learn a mapping for each pixel from LBD image to the desired value in HBD image, which may change the given high-order bits and lead to a huge deviation from the ground truth. In this paper, we design a bit restoration network (BRNet) to learn a weight for each pixel, which indicates the ratio of the replenished value within a rational range, invoking an accurate solution without modifying the given high-order bit information. To make the network adaptive for any bit-depth degradation, we investigate the issue in an optimization perspective and train the network under progressive training strategy for better performance. Moreover, we employ Wasserstein distance as a visual quality indicator to evaluate the difference of color distribution between restored image and the ground truth. Experimental results show our method can restore colorful images with fewer artifacts and false contours, and outperforms state-of-the-art methods with higher PSNR/SSIM results and lower Wasserstein distance. Panini-Net: GAN Prior Based Degradation-Aware Feature Interpolation for Face RestorationYinhuai Wang, Yujie Hu, Jian Zhang
Emerging high-quality face restoration (FR) methods often utilize pre-trained GAN models (\textit{i.e.}, StyleGAN2) as GAN Prior. However, these methods usually struggle to balance realness and fidelity when facing various degradation levels. Besides, there is still a noticeable visual quality gap compared with pre-trained GAN models. In this paper, we propose a novel GAN Prior based degradation-aware feature interpolation network, dubbed Panini-Net, for FR tasks by explicitly learning the abstract representations to distinguish various degradations. Specifically, an unsupervised degradation representation learning (UDRL) strategy is first developed to extract degradation representations (DR) of the input degraded images. Then, a degradation-aware feature interpolation (DAFI) module is proposed to dynamically fuse the two types of informative features (\textit{i.e.}, features from input images and features from GAN Prior) with flexible adaption to various degradations based on DR. Ablation studies reveal the working mechanism of DAFI and its potential for editable FR. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our Panini-Net achieves state-of-the-art performance for multi-degradation face restoration and face super-resolution. Position Embedding Needs an Independent Layer NormalizationRunyi Yu, Zhennan Wang, Yinhuai Wang et al. · pku
The Position Embedding (PE) is critical for Vision Transformers (VTs) due to the permutation-invariance of self-attention operation. By analyzing the input and output of each encoder layer in VTs using reparameterization and visualization, we find that the default PE joining method (simply adding the PE and patch embedding together) operates the same affine transformation to token embedding and PE, which limits the expressiveness of PE and hence constrains the performance of VTs. To overcome this limitation, we propose a simple, effective, and robust method. Specifically, we provide two independent layer normalizations for token embeddings and PE for each layer, and add them together as the input of each layer's Muti-Head Self-Attention module. Since the method allows the model to adaptively adjust the information of PE for different layers, we name it as Layer-adaptive Position Embedding, abbreviated as LaPE. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LaPE can improve various VTs with different types of PE and make VTs robust to PE types. For example, LaPE improves 0.94% accuracy for ViT-Lite on Cifar10, 0.98% for CCT on Cifar100, and 1.72% for DeiT on ImageNet-1K, which is remarkable considering the negligible extra parameters, memory and computational cost brought by LaPE. TransCL: Transformer Makes Strong and Flexible Compressive LearningChong Mou, Jian Zhang
Compressive learning (CL) is an emerging framework that integrates signal acquisition via compressed sensing (CS) and machine learning for inference tasks directly on a small number of measurements. It can be a promising alternative to classical image-domain methods and enjoys great advantages in memory saving and computational efficiency. However, previous attempts on CL are not only limited to a fixed CS ratio, which lacks flexibility, but also limited to MNIST/CIFAR-like datasets and do not scale to complex real-world high-resolution (HR) data or vision tasks. In this paper, a novel transformer-based compressive learning framework on large-scale images with arbitrary CS ratios, dubbed TransCL, is proposed. Specifically, TransCL first utilizes the strategy of learnable block-based compressed sensing and proposes a flexible linear projection strategy to enable CL to be performed on large-scale images in an efficient block-by-block manner with arbitrary CS ratios. Then, regarding CS measurements from all blocks as a sequence, a pure transformer-based backbone is deployed to perform vision tasks with various task-oriented heads. Our sufficient analysis presents that TransCL exhibits strong resistance to interference and robust adaptability to arbitrary CS ratios. Extensive experiments for complex HR data demonstrate that the proposed TransCL can achieve state-of-the-art performance in image classification and semantic segmentation tasks. In particular, TransCL with a CS ratio of $10\%$ can obtain almost the same performance as when operating directly on the original data and can still obtain satisfying performance even with an extremely low CS ratio of $1\%$. Unsupervised Deep Probabilistic Approach for Partial Point Cloud RegistrationGuofeng Mei, Hao Tang, Xiaoshui Huang et al.
Deep point cloud registration methods face challenges to partial overlaps and rely on labeled data. To address these issues, we propose UDPReg, an unsupervised deep probabilistic registration framework for point clouds with partial overlaps. Specifically, we first adopt a network to learn posterior probability distributions of Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) from point clouds. To handle partial point cloud registration, we apply the Sinkhorn algorithm to predict the distribution-level correspondences under the constraint of the mixing weights of GMMs. To enable unsupervised learning, we design three distribution consistency-based losses: self-consistency, cross-consistency, and local contrastive. The self-consistency loss is formulated by encouraging GMMs in Euclidean and feature spaces to share identical posterior distributions. The cross-consistency loss derives from the fact that the points of two partially overlapping point clouds belonging to the same clusters share the cluster centroids. The cross-consistency loss allows the network to flexibly learn a transformation-invariant posterior distribution of two aligned point clouds. The local contrastive loss facilitates the network to extract discriminative local features. Our UDPReg achieves competitive performance on the 3DMatch/3DLoMatch and ModelNet/ModelLoNet benchmarks.

The Devil is in the Statistics: Mitigating and Exploiting Statistics Difference for Generalizable Semi-supervised Medical Image SegmentationMuyang Qiu, Jian Zhang, Lei Qi et al.
Despite the recent success of domain generalization in medical image segmentation, voxel-wise annotation for all source domains remains a huge burden. Semi-supervised domain generalization has been proposed very recently to combat this challenge by leveraging limited labeled data along with abundant unlabeled data collected from multiple medical institutions, depending on precisely harnessing unlabeled data while improving generalization simultaneously. In this work, we observe that domain shifts between medical institutions cause disparate feature statistics, which significantly deteriorates pseudo-label quality due to an unexpected normalization process. Nevertheless, this phenomenon could be exploited to facilitate unseen domain generalization. Therefore, we propose 1) multiple statistics-individual branches to mitigate the impact of domain shifts for reliable pseudo-labels and 2) one statistics-aggregated branch for domain-invariant feature learning. Furthermore, to simulate unseen domains with statistics difference, we approach this from two aspects, i.e., a perturbation with histogram matching at image level and a random batch normalization selection strategy at feature level, producing diverse statistics to expand the training distribution. Evaluation results on three medical image datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method compared with recent SOTA methods. The code is available at https://github.com/qiumuyang/SIAB.

Exploring Flat Minima for Domain Generalization with Large Learning RatesJian Zhang, Lei Qi, Yinghuan Shi et al.
Domain Generalization (DG) aims to generalize to arbitrary unseen domains. A promising approach to improve model generalization in DG is the identification of flat minima. One typical method for this task is SWAD, which involves averaging weights along the training trajectory. However, the success of weight averaging depends on the diversity of weights, which is limited when training with a small learning rate. Instead, we observe that leveraging a large learning rate can simultaneously promote weight diversity and facilitate the identification of flat regions in the loss landscape. However, employing a large learning rate suffers from the convergence problem, which cannot be resolved by simply averaging the training weights. To address this issue, we introduce a training strategy called Lookahead which involves the weight interpolation, instead of average, between fast and slow weights. The fast weight explores the weight space with a large learning rate, which is not converged while the slow weight interpolates with it to ensure the convergence. Besides, weight interpolation also helps identify flat minima by implicitly optimizing the local entropy loss that measures flatness. To further prevent overfitting during training, we propose two variants to regularize the training weight with weighted averaged weight or with accumulated history weight. Taking advantage of this new perspective, our methods achieve state-of-the-art performance on both classification and semantic segmentation domain generalization benchmarks. Infrastructure Crack Segmentation: Boundary Guidance Method and Benchmark DatasetZhili He, Wang Chen, Jian Zhang et al.
Cracks provide an essential indicator of infrastructure performance degradation, and achieving high-precision pixel-level crack segmentation is an issue of concern. Unlike the common research paradigms that adopt novel artificial intelligence (AI) methods directly, this paper examines the inherent characteristics of cracks so as to introduce boundary features into crack identification and then builds a boundary guidance crack segmentation model (BGCrack) with targeted structures and modules, including a high frequency module, global information modeling module, joint optimization module, etc. Extensive experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed designs and the effectiveness of the edge information in improving segmentation results. In addition, considering that notable open-source datasets mainly consist of asphalt pavement cracks because of ease of access, there is no standard and widely recognized dataset yet for steel structures, one of the primary structural forms in civil infrastructure. This paper provides a steel crack dataset that establishes a unified and fair benchmark for the identification of steel cracks.

EFLNet: Enhancing Feature Learning for Infrared Small Target DetectionBo Yang, Xinyu Zhang, Jian Zhang et al.
Single-frame infrared small target detection is considered to be a challenging task, due to the extreme imbalance between target and background, bounding box regression is extremely sensitive to infrared small target, and target information is easy to lose in the high-level semantic layer. In this article, we propose an enhancing feature learning network (EFLNet) to address these problems. First, we notice that there is an extremely imbalance between the target and the background in the infrared image, which makes the model pay more attention to the background features rather than target features. To address this problem, we propose a new adaptive threshold focal loss (ATFL) function that decouples the target and the background, and utilizes the adaptive mechanism to adjust the loss weight to force the model to allocate more attention to target features. Second, we introduce the normalized Gaussian Wasserstein distance (NWD) to alleviate the difficulty of convergence caused by the extreme sensitivity of the bounding box regression to infrared small target. Finally, we incorporate a dynamic head mechanism into the network to enable adaptive learning of the relative importance of each semantic layer. Experimental results demonstrate our method can achieve better performance in the detection performance of infrared small target compared to the state-of-the-art (SOTA) deep-learning-based methods. We introduce Nemotron 3 Nano Omni, the latest model in the Nemotron multimodal series and the first to natively support audio inputs alongside text, images, and video. Nemotron 3 Nano Omni delivers consistent accuracy improvements over its predecessor, Nemotron Nano V2 VL, across all modalities, enabled by advances in architecture, training data and recipes. In particular, Nemotron 3 delivers leading results in real-world document understanding, long audio-video comprehension, and agentic computer use. Built on the highly efficient Nemotron 3 Nano 30B-A3B backbone, Nemotron 3 Nano Omni further incorporates innovative multimodal token-reduction techniques to deliver substantially lower inference latency and higher throughput than other models of similar size. We are releasing model checkpoints in BF16, FP8, and FP4 formats, along with portions of the training data and codebase to facilitate further research and development.

Multiple Instance Learning with Mixed Supervision in Gleason GradingHao Bian, Zhuchen Shao, Yang Chen et al.
With the development of computational pathology, deep learning methods for Gleason grading through whole slide images (WSIs) have excellent prospects. Since the size of WSIs is extremely large, the image label usually contains only slide-level label or limited pixel-level labels. The current mainstream approach adopts multi-instance learning to predict Gleason grades. However, some methods only considering the slide-level label ignore the limited pixel-level labels containing rich local information. Furthermore, the method of additionally considering the pixel-level labels ignores the inaccuracy of pixel-level labels. To address these problems, we propose a mixed supervision Transformer based on the multiple instance learning framework. The model utilizes both slide-level label and instance-level labels to achieve more accurate Gleason grading at the slide level. The impact of inaccurate instance-level labels is further reduced by introducing an efficient random masking strategy in the mixed supervision training process. We achieve the state-of-the-art performance on the SICAPv2 dataset, and the visual analysis shows the accurate prediction results of instance level. Horizontal and Vertical Attention in TransformersLitao Yu, Jian Zhang
Transformers are built upon multi-head scaled dot-product attention and positional encoding, which aim to learn the feature representations and token dependencies. In this work, we focus on enhancing the distinctive representation by learning to augment the feature maps with the self-attention mechanism in Transformers. Specifically, we propose the horizontal attention to re-weight the multi-head output of the scaled dot-product attention before dimensionality reduction, and propose the vertical attention to adaptively re-calibrate channel-wise feature responses by explicitly modelling inter-dependencies among different channels. We demonstrate the Transformer models equipped with the two attentions have a high generalization capability across different supervised learning tasks, with a very minor additional computational cost overhead. The proposed horizontal and vertical attentions are highly modular, which can be inserted into various Transformer models to further improve the performance. Self-Supervised Scalable Deep Compressed SensingBin Chen, Xuanyu Zhang, Shuai Liu et al.
Compressed sensing (CS) is a promising tool for reducing sampling costs. Current deep neural network (NN)-based CS methods face the challenges of collecting labeled measurement-ground truth (GT) data and generalizing to real applications. This paper proposes a novel $\mathbf{S}$elf-supervised s$\mathbf{C}$alable deep CS method, comprising a deep $\mathbf{L}$earning scheme called $\mathbf{SCL}$ and a family of $\mathbf{Net}$works named $\mathbf{SCNet}$, which does not require GT and can handle arbitrary sampling ratios and matrices once trained on a partial measurement set. Our SCL contains a dual-domain loss and a four-stage recovery strategy. The former encourages a cross-consistency on two measurement parts and a sampling-reconstruction cycle-consistency regarding arbitrary ratios and matrices to maximize data/information utilization. The latter can progressively leverage common signal prior in external measurements and internal characteristics of test samples and learned NNs to improve accuracy. SCNet combines both the explicit guidance from optimization algorithms with implicit regularization from advanced NN blocks to learn a collaborative signal representation. Our theoretical analyses and experiments on simulated and real captured data, covering 1-/2-/3-D natural and scientific signals, demonstrate the effectiveness, superior performance, flexibility, and generalization ability of our method over existing self-supervised methods and its significant potential in competing against state-of-the-art supervised methods. Hierarchical Dialogue Understanding with Special Tokens and Turn-level AttentionXiao Liu, Jian Zhang, Heng Zhang et al.
Compared with standard text, understanding dialogue is more challenging for machines as the dynamic and unexpected semantic changes in each turn. To model such inconsistent semantics, we propose a simple but effective Hierarchical Dialogue Understanding model, HiDialog. Specifically, we first insert multiple special tokens into a dialogue and propose the turn-level attention to learn turn embeddings hierarchically. Then, a heterogeneous graph module is leveraged to polish the learned embeddings. We evaluate our model on various dialogue understanding tasks including dialogue relation extraction, dialogue emotion recognition, and dialogue act classification. Furina: Fragmented Uncertainty-Driven Refusal Instability AttackTongxi Wu, Jian Zhang, Yang Gao
Safety alignment in large language models (LLMs) and multimodal large language models (MLLMs) is commonly assumed to operate as a near-binary threshold mechanism. We challenge this assumption by revealing that safety behavior is governed by an instability region where small perturbations induce stochastic refusal decisions rather than deterministic outcomes. We develop a multi-metric diagnostic framework combining external and internal signals to characterize this instability. Through systematic experiments, we identify a characteristic diagnostic signature: inputs in unstable regimes exhibit elevated output uncertainty yet decreased internal safety activation, a decoupling phenomenon that explains why detection-based defenses fail against sophisticated attacks. Building on this framework, we introduce Furina, a jailbreak attack that deliberately induces this signature through fragmented, scene-anchored prompts without model-specific optimization. Furina outperforms strong single-turn and multi-turn baselines on HarmBench and achieves competitive results on MM-SafetyBench, demonstrating that uncertainty amplification provides a principled and transferable mechanism for understanding safety vulnerabilities. OctoT2I: A Self-Evolving Agentic Text-to-Image RouterXu Jiang, Bin Chen, Gehui Li et al.
The explosive growth of Text-to-Image (T2I) models, from large-scale versions to lightweight, real-time ones, now faces diminishing marginal returns from single-model scaling. Agentic T2I methods emerged to alleviate this bottleneck by using multiple models. However, existing agentic T2I methods suffer from three key challenges: reliance on expensive handcrafted priors or human annotations, rigid single-path decision mechanisms, and a neglect of inference efficiency. To address these challenges, we introduce OctoT2I, a novel agentic framework that reformulates the T2I task as a joint optimization of generation quality and inference efficiency. OctoT2I implements a stateful, multi-round routing strategy that adaptively selects the most suitable tool based on its knowledge and memory. This strategy is enabled by a knowledge base built from scratch by our novel Self-Evolving Mechanism. This mechanism, which requires no human supervision, first autonomously defines foundational Conceptual Dimensions (eg, style, color, count) and then intelligently explores their combinations via an iterative" Propose--Solve--Evaluate--Learn"(PSEL) loop. The PSEL loop efficiently discovers each tool's capability frontier, driving continuous improvement without external guidance. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OctoT2I achieves competitive performance (0.96) on GenEval while delivering a 90.3% inference speedup and a 56.6% energy-efficiency gain over the leading baseline (Flow-GRPO), striking an exceptional balance between performance and efficiency. Improving AlphaFlow for Efficient Protein Ensembles GenerationShaoning Li, Mingyu Li, Yusong Wang et al.
Investigating conformational landscapes of proteins is a crucial way to understand their biological functions and properties. AlphaFlow stands out as a sequence-conditioned generative model that introduces flexibility into structure prediction models by fine-tuning AlphaFold under the flow-matching framework. Despite the advantages of efficient sampling afforded by flow-matching, AlphaFlow still requires multiple runs of AlphaFold to finally generate one single conformation. Due to the heavy consumption of AlphaFold, its applicability is limited in sampling larger set of protein ensembles or the longer chains within a constrained timeframe. In this work, we propose a feature-conditioned generative model called AlphaFlow-Lit to realize efficient protein ensembles generation. In contrast to the full fine-tuning on the entire structure, we focus solely on the light-weight structure module to reconstruct the conformation. AlphaFlow-Lit performs on-par with AlphaFlow and surpasses its distilled version without pretraining, all while achieving a significant sampling acceleration of around 47 times. The advancement in efficiency showcases the potential of AlphaFlow-Lit in enabling faster and more scalable generation of protein ensembles.

D3C2-Net: Dual-Domain Deep Convolutional Coding Network for Compressive SensingWeiqi Li, Bin Chen, Shuai Liu et al.
By mapping iterative optimization algorithms into neural networks (NNs), deep unfolding networks (DUNs) exhibit well-defined and interpretable structures and achieve remarkable success in the field of compressive sensing (CS). However, most existing DUNs solely rely on the image-domain unfolding, which restricts the information transmission capacity and reconstruction flexibility, leading to their loss of image details and unsatisfactory performance. To overcome these limitations, this paper develops a dual-domain optimization framework that combines the priors of (1) image- and (2) convolutional-coding-domains and offers generality to CS and other inverse imaging tasks. By converting this optimization framework into deep NN structures, we present a Dual-Domain Deep Convolutional Coding Network (D3C2-Net), which enjoys the ability to efficiently transmit high-capacity self-adaptive convolutional features across all its unfolded stages. Our theoretical analyses and experiments on simulated and real captured data, covering 2D and 3D natural, medical, and scientific signals, demonstrate the effectiveness, practicality, superior performance, and generalization ability of our method over other competing approaches and its significant potential in achieving a balance among accuracy, complexity, and interpretability. NeRFocus: Neural Radiance Field for 3D Synthetic DefocusYinhuai Wang, Shuzhou Yang, Yujie Hu et al.
Neural radiance fields (NeRF) bring a new wave for 3D interactive experiences. However, as an important part of the immersive experiences, the defocus effects have not been fully explored within NeRF. Some recent NeRF-based methods generate 3D defocus effects in a post-process fashion by utilizing multiplane technology. Still, they are either time-consuming or memory-consuming. This paper proposes a novel thin-lens-imaging-based NeRF framework that can directly render various 3D defocus effects, dubbed NeRFocus. Unlike the pinhole, the thin lens refracts rays of a scene point, so its imaging on the sensor plane is scattered as a circle of confusion (CoC). A direct solution sampling enough rays to approximate this process is computationally expensive. Instead, we propose to inverse the thin lens imaging to explicitly model the beam path for each point on the sensor plane and generalize this paradigm to the beam path of each pixel, then use the frustum-based volume rendering to render each pixel's beam path. We further design an efficient probabilistic training (p-training) strategy to simplify the training process vastly. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our NeRFocus can achieve various 3D defocus effects with adjustable camera pose, focus distance, and aperture size. Existing NeRF can be regarded as our special case by setting aperture size as zero to render large depth-of-field images. Despite such merits, NeRFocus does not sacrifice NeRF's original performance (e.g., training and inference time, parameter consumption, rendering quality), which implies its great potential for broader application and further improvement. Nemotron 3 Nano: Open, Efficient Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Transformer Model for Agentic ReasoningAaron Blakeman, Aaron Grattafiori, Aarti Basant et al. · nvidia
We present Nemotron 3 Nano 30B-A3B, a Mixture-of-Experts hybrid Mamba-Transformer language model. Nemotron 3 Nano was pretrained on 25 trillion text tokens, including more than 3 trillion new unique tokens over Nemotron 2, followed by supervised fine tuning and large-scale RL on diverse environments. Nemotron 3 Nano achieves better accuracy than our previous generation Nemotron 2 Nano while activating less than half of the parameters per forward pass. It achieves up to 3.3x higher inference throughput than similarly-sized open models like GPT-OSS-20B and Qwen3-30B-A3B-Thinking-2507, while also being more accurate on popular benchmarks. Nemotron 3 Nano demonstrates enhanced agentic, reasoning, and chat abilities and supports context lengths up to 1M tokens. We release both our pretrained Nemotron 3 Nano 30B-A3B Base and post-trained Nemotron 3 Nano 30B-A3B checkpoints on Hugging Face.

We introduce the Nemotron 3 family of models - Nano, Super, and Ultra. These models deliver strong agentic, reasoning, and conversational capabilities. The Nemotron 3 family uses a Mixture-of-Experts hybrid Mamba-Transformer architecture to provide best-in-class throughput and context lengths of up to 1M tokens. Super and Ultra models are trained with NVFP4 and incorporate LatentMoE, a novel approach that improves model quality. The two larger models also include MTP layers for faster text generation. All Nemotron 3 models are post-trained using multi-environment reinforcement learning enabling reasoning, multi-step tool use, and support granular reasoning budget control. Nano, the smallest model, outperforms comparable models in accuracy while remaining extremely cost-efficient for inference. Super is optimized for collaborative agents and high-volume workloads such as IT ticket automation. Ultra, the largest model, provides state-of-the-art accuracy and reasoning performance. Nano is released together with its technical report and this white paper, while Super and Ultra will follow in the coming months. We will openly release the model weights, pre- and post-training software, recipes, and all data for which we hold redistribution rights.

OdysseyArena: Benchmarking Large Language Models For Long-Horizon, Active and Inductive InteractionsFangzhi Xu, Hang Yan, Qiushi Sun et al.
The rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) has catalyzed the development of autonomous agents capable of navigating complex environments. However, existing evaluations primarily adopt a deductive paradigm, where agents execute tasks based on explicitly provided rules and static goals, often within limited planning horizons. Crucially, this neglects the inductive necessity for agents to discover latent transition laws from experience autonomously, which is the cornerstone for enabling agentic foresight and sustaining strategic coherence. To bridge this gap, we introduce OdysseyArena, which re-centers agent evaluation on long-horizon, active, and inductive interactions. We formalize and instantiate four primitives, translating abstract transition dynamics into concrete interactive environments. Building upon this, we establish OdysseyArena-Lite for standardized benchmarking, providing a set of 120 tasks to measure an agent's inductive efficiency and long-horizon discovery. Pushing further, we introduce OdysseyArena-Challenge to stress-test agent stability across extreme interaction horizons (e.g., > 200 steps). Extensive experiments on 15+ leading LLMs reveal that even frontier models exhibit a deficiency in inductive scenarios, identifying a critical bottleneck in the pursuit of autonomous discovery in complex environments.
