Video-Language Pretraining (VLP), which aims to learn transferable representation to advance a wide range of video-text downstream tasks, has recently received increasing attention. Best performing works rely on large-scale, 3rd-person video-text datasets, such as HowTo100M. In this work, we exploit the recently released Ego4D dataset to pioneer Egocentric VLP along three directions. (i) We create EgoClip, a 1st-person video-text pretraining dataset comprising 3.8M clip-text pairs well-chosen from Ego4D, covering a large variety of human daily activities. (ii) We propose a novel pretraining objective, dubbed EgoNCE, which adapts video-text contrastive learning to the egocentric domain by mining egocentric-aware positive and negative samples. (iii) We introduce EgoMCQ, a development benchmark that is close to EgoClip and hence can support effective validation and fast exploration of our design decisions in EgoClip and EgoNCE. Furthermore, we demonstrate strong performance on five egocentric downstream tasks across three datasets: video-text retrieval on EPIC-KITCHENS-100; action recognition on Charades-Ego; natural language query, moment query, and object state change classification on Ego4D challenge benchmarks. In this report, we propose a video-language pretraining (VLP) based solution \cite{kevin2022egovlp} for four Ego4D challenge tasks, including Natural Language Query (NLQ), Moment Query (MQ), Object State Change Classification (OSCC), and PNR Localization (PNR). Especially, we exploit the recently released Ego4D dataset \cite{grauman2021ego4d} to pioneer Egocentric VLP from pretraining dataset, pretraining objective, and development set. Based on the above three designs, we develop a pretrained video-language model that is able to transfer its egocentric video-text representation or video-only representation to several video downstream tasks. Our Egocentric VLP achieves 10.46R@1&IoU @0.3 on NLQ, 10.33 mAP on MQ, 74% Acc on OSCC, 0.67 sec error on PNR. The code is available at https://github.com/showlab/EgoVLP.

In this report, we propose a video-language pretraining (VLP) based solution \cite{kevin2022egovlp} for the EPIC-KITCHENS-100 Multi-Instance Retrieval (MIR) challenge. Especially, we exploit the recently released Ego4D dataset \cite{grauman2021ego4d} to pioneer Egocentric VLP from pretraining dataset, pretraining objective, and development set. Based on the above three designs, we develop a pretrained video-language model that is able to transfer its egocentric video-text representation to MIR benchmark. Furthermore, we devise an adaptive multi-instance max-margin loss to effectively fine-tune the model and equip the dual-softmax technique for reliable inference. Our best single model obtains strong performance on the challenge test set with 47.39% mAP and 61.44% nDCG. The code is available at https://github.com/showlab/EgoVLP.

Baton: Explicit Semantic Blueprints for Joint Video-Audio GenerationShuyuan Tu, Qi Tian, Zihan Yang et al.
Current open-source diffusion models struggle to generate stable and synchronized audio-visual content, particularly in scenarios demanding complex semantic reasoning. The root cause is that existing methods rely on coarse text embeddings from off-the-shelf encoders to guide audio-video denoising, which discards fine-grained semantics and, critically, lacks a shared long-horizon plan, leading to uncoordinated denoising trajectories and fragile cross-modal alignment. We propose Baton, the first framework that introduces explicit semantic planning into joint video-audio generation. Our key insight is that complementing coarse text guidance with semantically rich, modality-aware planned tokens, jointly reasoned and mutually aligned before denoising, can simultaneously restore fine-grained semantic detail and establish a shared blueprint that coordinates both audio and video denoising trajectories. Concretely, Baton first introduces the VA-Planner, a multimodal language model equipped with dual semantic alignment towers, where learnable queries cross-attend to both video and audio features to produce a pair of semantically aligned video and audio planned tokens as keyframe-level blueprints. These planned tokens are injected into the diffusion backbone via cross-attention layers, providing temporally grounded guidance complementary to coarse text embeddings. Since planned tokens do not share one-to-one spatial-temporal correspondence with diffusion latents, we further propose Relative Semantic RoPE, a relative positional encoding that maps planned tokens and latents into a shared spatial-temporal coordinate frame, enabling each latent to accurately attend to its positionally corresponding semantic cues. Experiments on benchmarks show the effectiveness of Baton both qualitatively and quantitatively.

OmniWeaving: Towards Unified Video Generation with Free-form Composition and ReasoningKaihang Pan, Qi Tian, Jianwei Zhang et al.
While proprietary systems such as Seedance-2.0 have achieved remarkable success in omni-capable video generation, open-source alternatives significantly lag behind. Most academic models remain heavily fragmented, and the few existing efforts toward unified video generation still struggle to seamlessly integrate diverse tasks within a single framework. To bridge this gap, we propose OmniWeaving, an omni-level video generation model featuring powerful multimodal composition and reasoning-informed capabilities. By leveraging a massive-scale pretraining dataset that encompasses diverse compositional and reasoning-augmented scenarios, OmniWeaving learns to temporally bind interleaved text, multi-image, and video inputs while acting as an intelligent agent to infer complex user intentions for sophisticated video creation. Furthermore, we introduce IntelligentVBench, the first comprehensive benchmark designed to rigorously assess next-level intelligent unified video generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OmniWeaving achieves SoTA performance among open-source unified models. The codes and model will be made publicly available soon. Tencent Text-Video Retrieval: Hierarchical Cross-Modal Interactions with Multi-Level RepresentationsJie Jiang, Shaobo Min, Weijie Kong et al.
Text-Video Retrieval plays an important role in multi-modal understanding and has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Most existing methods focus on constructing contrastive pairs between whole videos and complete caption sentences, while overlooking fine-grained cross-modal relationships, e.g., clip-phrase or frame-word. In this paper, we propose a novel method, named Hierarchical Cross-Modal Interaction (HCMI), to explore multi-level cross-modal relationships among video-sentence, clip-phrase, and frame-word for text-video retrieval. Considering intrinsic semantic frame relations, HCMI performs self-attention to explore frame-level correlations and adaptively cluster correlated frames into clip-level and video-level representations. In this way, HCMI constructs multi-level video representations for frame-clip-video granularities to capture fine-grained video content, and multi-level text representations at word-phrase-sentence granularities for the text modality. With multi-level representations for video and text, hierarchical contrastive learning is designed to explore fine-grained cross-modal relationships, i.e., frame-word, clip-phrase, and video-sentence, which enables HCMI to achieve a comprehensive semantic comparison between video and text modalities. Further boosted by adaptive label denoising and marginal sample enhancement, HCMI achieves new state-of-the-art results on various benchmarks, e.g., Rank@1 of 55.0%, 58.2%, 29.7%, 52.1%, and 57.3% on MSR-VTT, MSVD, LSMDC, DiDemo, and ActivityNet, respectively.

Seeing What You Miss: Vision-Language Pre-training with Semantic Completion LearningYatai Ji, Rongcheng Tu, Jie Jiang et al.
Cross-modal alignment is essential for vision-language pre-training (VLP) models to learn the correct corresponding information across different modalities. For this purpose, inspired by the success of masked language modeling (MLM) tasks in the NLP pre-training area, numerous masked modeling tasks have been proposed for VLP to further promote cross-modal interactions. The core idea of previous masked modeling tasks is to focus on reconstructing the masked tokens based on visible context for learning local-to-local alignment. However, most of them pay little attention to the global semantic features generated for the masked data, resulting in a limited cross-modal alignment ability of global representations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel Semantic Completion Learning (SCL) task, complementary to existing masked modeling tasks, to facilitate global-to-local alignment. Specifically, the SCL task complements the missing semantics of masked data by capturing the corresponding information from the other modality, promoting learning more representative global features which have a great impact on the performance of downstream tasks. Moreover, we present a flexible vision encoder, which enables our model to perform image-text and video-text multimodal tasks simultaneously. Experimental results show that our proposed method obtains state-of-the-art performance on various vision-language benchmarks, such as visual question answering, image-text retrieval, and video-text retrieval.

Global and Local Semantic Completion Learning for Vision-Language Pre-trainingRong-Cheng Tu, Yatai Ji, Jie Jiang et al.
Cross-modal alignment plays a crucial role in vision-language pre-training (VLP) models, enabling them to capture meaningful associations across different modalities. For this purpose, numerous masked modeling tasks have been proposed for VLP to further promote cross-modal interactions. The core idea of previous masked modeling tasks is to focus on reconstructing the masked tokens based on visible context for learning local-local alignment. However, most of them pay little attention to the global semantic features generated for the masked data, resulting in a limited cross-modal alignment ability of global representations to local features of the other modality. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel Global and Local Semantic Completion Learning (GLSCL) task to facilitate global-local alignment and local-local alignment simultaneously. Specifically, the GLSCL task complements the missing semantics of masked data and recovers global and local features by cross-modal interactions. Our GLSCL consists of masked global semantic completion (MGSC) and masked local token completion (MLTC). MGSC promotes learning more representative global features, which have a great impact on the performance of downstream tasks, while MLTC reconstructs modal-fusion local tokens, further enhancing accurate comprehension of multimodal data. To evaluate the proposed approaches on cross-modal alignment, we develop a validation benchmark called ALIGN-BENCH. Moreover, we present a flexible vision encoder, enabling our model to simultaneously perform image-text and video-text multimodal tasks. Experimental results show that our proposed method obtains state-of-the-art performance on various vision-language benchmarks, such as visual question answering, image-text retrieval, and video-text retrieval.

HunyuanVideo: A Systematic Framework For Large Video Generative ModelsWeijie Kong, Qi Tian, Zijian Zhang et al. · tencent-ai, tsinghua
Recent advancements in video generation have significantly impacted daily life for both individuals and industries. However, the leading video generation models remain closed-source, resulting in a notable performance gap between industry capabilities and those available to the public. In this report, we introduce HunyuanVideo, an innovative open-source video foundation model that demonstrates performance in video generation comparable to, or even surpassing, that of leading closed-source models. HunyuanVideo encompasses a comprehensive framework that integrates several key elements, including data curation, advanced architectural design, progressive model scaling and training, and an efficient infrastructure tailored for large-scale model training and inference. As a result, we successfully trained a video generative model with over 13 billion parameters, making it the largest among all open-source models. We conducted extensive experiments and implemented a series of targeted designs to ensure high visual quality, motion dynamics, text-video alignment, and advanced filming techniques. According to evaluations by professionals, HunyuanVideo outperforms previous state-of-the-art models, including Runway Gen-3, Luma 1.6, and three top-performing Chinese video generative models. By releasing the code for the foundation model and its applications, we aim to bridge the gap between closed-source and open-source communities. This initiative will empower individuals within the community to experiment with their ideas, fostering a more dynamic and vibrant video generation ecosystem. Precise: SDE-Consistent Stochastic Sampling for RL Post-Training of Flow-Matching ModelsJade Zou, Tao Huang, Weijie Kong et al.
Reinforcement learning (RL) has become an effective way to improve prompt alignment and perceptual quality in diffusion and flow-matching generators. A critical step for applying online RL to flow matching is turning the deterministic sampling trajectory into a stochastic policy, typically by replacing the reverse-time Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) with a Stochastic Differential Equation (SDE). The stochastic sampler, controlling the exploration behavior and denoising dynamics, is thus part of the policy, and its design can significantly affect the reward optimization performance. We break down the sampler design into two interdependent components: choosing the right amount of stochastic exploration, and discretizing the resulting SDE faithfully at the small step counts used in RL. To address the first component, we analyze the inherent tension between exploration and stability in denoising and derive an SDE schedule that balances the two. Turning to the discretization challenge, we use a toy example to show that existing samplers can deviate from the flow-matching process, either by introducing excessive discretization noise or by relying on heuristic rules that do not guarantee convergence to the data distribution. To address these issues, we propose Precise, a new stochastic sampler that balances effective exploration with stability. Crucially, Precise keeps the denoising trajectory SDE-consistent through a novel approximation that freezes the clean-latent posterior mean, resolving the excess noise issue in standard samplers. Extensive experiments demonstrate that this formulation leads to significantly faster and more stable reward optimization via reinforcement learning, achieving state-of-the-art alignment scores (e.g., PickScore, HPSv2.1) while requiring 13.1-53.2% less wall-clock training time to match the best in-domain performance of prior samplers.

AffordVLA: Injecting Affordance Representations into Vision-Language-Action Models via Implicit Feature AlignmentWeijie Kong, Zhian Su, Wei Yu et al.
Recent advances in Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have shown strong potential for general-purpose robotic manipulation. However, the visual representations of most VLA models are often dominated by global object appearance and struggle to focus on task-relevant functional interaction regions, which limits their robustness in unstructured environments. Existing affordance-based methods typically rely on explicit mask injection or external perception modules, requiring additional annotations while introducing cascading perception errors and inference overhead. To address these limitations, we propose AffordVLA, an affordance-enhanced VLA framework that internalizes manipulation-centric affordance perception into VLA visual representations through implicit representation alignment. Specifically, we construct a zero-shot affordance teacher to extract task-conditioned affordance visual representations from RGB observations and language instructions. AffordVLA aligns the intermediate visual representations of the VLA with the affordance visual representations extracted by the teacher, thereby implicitly injecting manipulation-centric affordance perception into VLA visual representations and improving action accuracy. Extensive simulation and real-world experiments demonstrate that AffordVLA and its affordance teacher achieve state-of-the-art performance and outperform strong baselines. Ablation analyses show that AffordVLA effectively reshapes VLA visual representations while preserving inference efficiency, leading to improved manipulation success rates and training efficiency.

We present HunyuanImage 3.0, a native multimodal model that unifies multimodal understanding and generation within an autoregressive framework, with its image generation module publicly available. The achievement of HunyuanImage 3.0 relies on several key components, including meticulous data curation, advanced architecture design, a native Chain-of-Thoughts schema, progressive model pre-training, aggressive model post-training, and an efficient infrastructure that enables large-scale training and inference. With these advancements, we successfully trained a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model comprising over 80 billion parameters in total, with 13 billion parameters activated per token during inference, making it the largest and most powerful open-source image generative model to date. We conducted extensive experiments and the results of automatic and human evaluation of text-image alignment and visual quality demonstrate that HunyuanImage 3.0 rivals previous state-of-the-art models. By releasing the code and weights of HunyuanImage 3.0, we aim to enable the community to explore new ideas with a state-of-the-art foundation model, fostering a dynamic and vibrant multimodal ecosystem. Manifold-Aware Exploration for Reinforcement Learning in Video GenerationMingzhe Zheng, Weijie Kong, Yue Wu et al.
Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) methods for video generation like FlowGRPO remain far less reliable than their counterparts for language models and images. This gap arises because video generation has a complex solution space, and the ODE-to-SDE conversion used for exploration can inject excess noise, lowering rollout quality and making reward estimates less reliable, which destabilizes post-training alignment. To address this problem, we view the pre-trained model as defining a valid video data manifold and formulate the core problem as constraining exploration within the vicinity of this manifold, ensuring that rollout quality is preserved and reward estimates remain reliable. We propose SAGE-GRPO (Stable Alignment via Exploration), which applies constraints at both micro and macro levels. At the micro level, we derive a precise manifold-aware SDE with a logarithmic curvature correction and introduce a gradient norm equalizer to stabilize sampling and updates across timesteps. At the macro level, we use a dual trust region with a periodic moving anchor and stepwise constraints so that the trust region tracks checkpoints that are closer to the manifold and limits long-horizon drift. We evaluate SAGE-GRPO on HunyuanVideo1.5 using the original VideoAlign as the reward model and observe consistent gains over previous methods in VQ, MQ, TA, and visual metrics (CLIPScore, PickScore), demonstrating superior performance in both reward maximization and overall video quality. We present HunyuanVideo 1.5, a lightweight yet powerful open-source video generation model that achieves state-of-the-art visual quality and motion coherence with only 8.3 billion parameters, enabling efficient inference on consumer-grade GPUs. This achievement is built upon several key components, including meticulous data curation, an advanced DiT architecture featuring selective and sliding tile attention (SSTA), enhanced bilingual understanding through glyph-aware text encoding, progressive pre-training and post-training, and an efficient video super-resolution network. Leveraging these designs, we developed a unified framework capable of high-quality text-to-video and image-to-video generation across multiple durations and resolutions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that this compact and proficient model establishes a new state-of-the-art among open-source video generation models. By releasing the code and model weights, we provide the community with a high-performance foundation that lowers the barrier to video creation and research, making advanced video generation accessible to a broader audience. F1: A Vision-Language-Action Model Bridging Understanding and Generation to ActionsQi Lv, Weijie Kong, Hao Li et al.
Executing language-conditioned tasks in dynamic visual environments remains a central challenge in embodied AI. Existing Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models predominantly adopt reactive state-to-action mappings, often leading to short-sighted behaviors and poor robustness in dynamic scenes. In this paper, we introduce F1, a pretrained VLA framework which integrates the visual foresight generation into decision-making pipeline. F1 adopts a Mixture-of-Transformer architecture with dedicated modules for perception, foresight generation, and control, thereby bridging understanding, generation, and actions. At its core, F1 employs a next-scale prediction mechanism to synthesize goal-conditioned visual foresight as explicit planning targets. By forecasting plausible future visual states, F1 reformulates action generation as a foresight-guided inverse dynamics problem, enabling actions that implicitly achieve visual goals. To endow F1 with robust and generalizable capabilities, we propose a three-stage training recipe on an extensive dataset comprising over 330k trajectories across 136 diverse tasks. This training scheme enhances modular reasoning and equips the model with transferable visual foresight, which is critical for complex and dynamic environments. Extensive evaluations on real-world tasks and simulation benchmarks demonstrate F1 consistently outperforms existing approaches, achieving substantial gains in both task success rate and generalization ability.

Intelligent game creation represents a transformative advancement in game development, utilizing generative artificial intelligence to dynamically generate and enhance game content. Despite notable progress in generative models, the comprehensive synthesis of high-quality game assets, including both images and videos, remains a challenging frontier. To create high-fidelity game content that simultaneously aligns with player preferences and significantly boosts designer efficiency, we present Hunyuan-Game, an innovative project designed to revolutionize intelligent game production. Hunyuan-Game encompasses two primary branches: image generation and video generation. The image generation component is built upon a vast dataset comprising billions of game images, leading to the development of a group of customized image generation models tailored for game scenarios: (1) General Text-to-Image Generation. (2) Game Visual Effects Generation, involving text-to-effect and reference image-based game visual effect generation. (3) Transparent Image Generation for characters, scenes, and game visual effects. (4) Game Character Generation based on sketches, black-and-white images, and white models. The video generation component is built upon a comprehensive dataset of millions of game and anime videos, leading to the development of five core algorithmic models, each targeting critical pain points in game development and having robust adaptation to diverse game video scenarios: (1) Image-to-Video Generation. (2) 360 A/T Pose Avatar Video Synthesis. (3) Dynamic Illustration Generation. (4) Generative Video Super-Resolution. (5) Interactive Game Video Generation. These image and video generation models not only exhibit high-level aesthetic expression but also deeply integrate domain-specific knowledge, establishing a systematic understanding of diverse game and anime art styles.

Graph Convolutional Label Noise Cleaner: Train a Plug-and-play Action Classifier for Anomaly DetectionJia-Xing Zhong, Nannan Li, Weijie Kong et al.
Video anomaly detection under weak labels is formulated as a typical multiple-instance learning problem in previous works. In this paper, we provide a new perspective, i.e., a supervised learning task under noisy labels. In such a viewpoint, as long as cleaning away label noise, we can directly apply fully supervised action classifiers to weakly supervised anomaly detection, and take maximum advantage of these well-developed classifiers. For this purpose, we devise a graph convolutional network to correct noisy labels. Based upon feature similarity and temporal consistency, our network propagates supervisory signals from high-confidence snippets to low-confidence ones. In this manner, the network is capable of providing cleaned supervision for action classifiers. During the test phase, we only need to obtain snippet-wise predictions from the action classifier without any extra post-processing. Extensive experiments on 3 datasets at different scales with 2 types of action classifiers demonstrate the efficacy of our method. Remarkably, we obtain the frame-level AUC score of 82.12% on UCF-Crime.

BLP -- Boundary Likelihood Pinpointing Networks for Accurate Temporal Action LocalizationWeijie Kong, Nannan Li, Shan Liu et al.
Despite tremendous progress achieved in temporal action detection, state-of-the-art methods still suffer from the sharp performance deterioration when localizing the starting and ending temporal action boundaries. Although most methods apply boundary regression paradigm to tackle this problem, we argue that the direct regression lacks detailed enough information to yield accurate temporal boundaries. In this paper, we propose a novel Boundary Likelihood Pinpointing (BLP) network to alleviate this deficiency of boundary regression and improve the localization accuracy. Given a loosely localized search interval that contains an action instance, BLP casts the problem of localizing temporal boundaries as that of assigning probabilities on each equally divided unit of this interval. These generated probabilities provide useful information regarding the boundary location of the action inside this search interval. Based on these probabilities, we introduce a boundary pinpointing paradigm to pinpoint the accurate boundaries under a simple probabilistic framework. Compared with other C3D feature based detectors, extensive experiments demonstrate that BLP significantly improves the localization performance of recent state-of-the-art detectors, and achieves competitive detection mAP on both THUMOS' 14 and ActivityNet datasets, particularly when the evaluation tIoU is high.

Step-by-step Erasion, One-by-one Collection: A Weakly Supervised Temporal Action DetectorJia-Xing Zhong, Nannan Li, Weijie Kong et al.
Weakly supervised temporal action detection is a Herculean task in understanding untrimmed videos, since no supervisory signal except the video-level category label is available on training data. Under the supervision of category labels, weakly supervised detectors are usually built upon classifiers. However, there is an inherent contradiction between classifier and detector; i.e., a classifier in pursuit of high classification performance prefers top-level discriminative video clips that are extremely fragmentary, whereas a detector is obliged to discover the whole action instance without missing any relevant snippet. To reconcile this contradiction, we train a detector by driving a series of classifiers to find new actionness clips progressively, via step-by-step erasion from a complete video. During the test phase, all we need to do is to collect detection results from the one-by-one trained classifiers at various erasing steps. To assist in the collection process, a fully connected conditional random field is established to refine the temporal localization outputs. We evaluate our approach on two prevailing datasets, THUMOS'14 and ActivityNet. The experiments show that our detector advances state-of-the-art weakly supervised temporal action detection results, and even compares with quite a few strongly supervised methods.
