Human2Humanoid: Physics-Aware Cross-Morphology Motion Retargeting for Humanoid RobotsTianchen Huang, Feiyang Yuan, Junchi Gu et al.
Retargeting human motion to humanoid robots is critical for teleoperation, imitation learning and human-robot interaction. However, it remains challenging because of substantial morphological discrepancies between humans and robots, including differences in skeletal topology, limb proportions and degrees of freedom, as well as the scarcity of paired motion data. This paper presents Human2Humanoid, an unsupervised motion retargeting framework that transfers human motions to humanoid robot behaviors with high fidelity. To bridge the domain gap under unpaired data, we adopt a CycleGAN-based architecture equipped with a skeleton-aware graph convolutional network to capture topology-dependent motion features. To address cross-domain scale mismatches, we introduce a morphology-invariant end-effector consistency loss that aligns normalized end-effector trajectories to preserve motion semantics across embodiments. To improve physical plausibility and reduce contact artifacts, we impose explicit physics-aware feasibility constraints to encourage reproduction of the contact patterns in the source motion. Experimental results show that the proposed method successfully retargets human motion to the Unitree G1 humanoid robot without paired data, and outperforms existing methods in both downstream controllability and physical feasibility.

Self-Supervised Arbitrary-Scale Point Clouds Upsampling via Implicit Neural RepresentationWenbo Zhao, Xianming Liu, Zhiwei Zhong et al.
Point clouds upsampling is a challenging issue to generate dense and uniform point clouds from the given sparse input. Most existing methods either take the end-to-end supervised learning based manner, where large amounts of pairs of sparse input and dense ground-truth are exploited as supervision information; or treat up-scaling of different scale factors as independent tasks, and have to build multiple networks to handle upsampling with varying factors. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that achieves self-supervised and magnification-flexible point clouds upsampling simultaneously. We formulate point clouds upsampling as the task of seeking nearest projection points on the implicit surface for seed points. To this end, we define two implicit neural functions to estimate projection direction and distance respectively, which can be trained by two pretext learning tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that our self-supervised learning based scheme achieves competitive or even better performance than supervised learning based state-of-the-art methods. Towards Green AI in Fine-tuning Large Language Models via Adaptive BackpropagationKai Huang, Hanyun Yin, Heng Huang et al.
Fine-tuning is the most effective way of adapting pre-trained large language models (LLMs) to downstream applications. With the fast growth of LLM-enabled AI applications and democratization of open-souced LLMs, fine-tuning has become possible for non-expert individuals, but intensively performed LLM fine-tuning worldwide could result in significantly high energy consumption and carbon footprint, which may bring large environmental impact. Mitigating such environmental impact towards Green AI directly correlates to reducing the FLOPs of fine-tuning, but existing techniques on efficient LLM fine-tuning can only achieve limited reduction of such FLOPs, due to their ignorance of the backpropagation cost in fine-tuning. To address this limitation, in this paper we present GreenTrainer, a new LLM fine-tuning technique that adaptively evaluates different tensors' backpropagation costs and contributions to the fine-tuned model accuracy, to minimize the fine-tuning cost by selecting the most appropriate set of tensors in training. Such selection in GreenTrainer is made based on a given objective of FLOPs reduction, which can flexibly adapt to the carbon footprint in energy supply and the need in Green AI. Experiment results over multiple open-sourced LLM models and abstractive summarization datasets show that, compared to fine-tuning the whole LLM model, GreenTrainer can save up to 64% FLOPs in fine-tuning without any noticeable model accuracy loss. Compared to the existing fine-tuning techniques such as LoRa, GreenTrainer can achieve up to 4% improvement on model accuracy with on-par FLOPs reduction.

Bionic Human-Motion Style Transfer for Physically Executable Whole-Body Control of Humanoid RobotsTianchen Huang, Mingkuan Zhao, Yang Gao et al.
Expressive whole-body motion is important for humanoid robots operating in human environments, where robots are expected to move stably while presenting readable and adjustable body behaviors. However, most expressive motions are still obtained from fixed demonstrations or manually designed scripts, making it difficult to reuse a demonstrated style across different motion contents. Inspired by the way human motion styles convey affective and intentional cues through gait rhythm, posture, arm swing and body sway, this paper proposes a bionic generation-to-control framework for exemplar-driven style transfer on humanoid robots. Given a short human style exemplar and a target content motion, the proposed framework generates a stylized whole-body reference that preserves the intended motion content while transferring the demonstrated style. A physics-aware multi-condition latent diffusion model is developed to fuse style, content and trajectory conditions, and classifier-free guidance is used to adjust the style intensity without retraining. To improve hardware executability, contact-consistency and temporal-smoothness regularization are imposed on decoded motions during training. The generated references are then converted into G1-compatible robot references and executed by a preview-based whole-body tracking policy trained with a cluster-and-distill strategy. Simulation and Unitree G1 experiments show that the proposed method can transfer short human style exemplars to diverse robot motion contents, reduce contact and jitter artifacts compared with animation-oriented style-transfer baselines, and achieve a 96.0% success rate over 125 reported real-robot trials. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using short human motion exemplars as reusable bionic sources for physically executable expressive humanoid motion.

Deep Learning Workload Scheduling in GPU Datacenters: Taxonomy, Challenges and VisionWei Gao, Qinghao Hu, Zhisheng Ye et al.
Deep learning (DL) shows its prosperity in a wide variety of fields. The development of a DL model is a time-consuming and resource-intensive procedure. Hence, dedicated GPU accelerators have been collectively constructed into a GPU datacenter. An efficient scheduler design for such GPU datacenter is crucially important to reduce the operational cost and improve resource utilization. However, traditional approaches designed for big data or high performance computing workloads can not support DL workloads to fully utilize the GPU resources. Recently, substantial schedulers are proposed to tailor for DL workloads in GPU datacenters. This paper surveys existing research efforts for both training and inference workloads. We primarily present how existing schedulers facilitate the respective workloads from the scheduling objectives and resource consumption features. Finally, we prospect several promising future research directions. Tackling Intertwined Data and Device Heterogeneities in Federated Learning with Unlimited StalenessHaoming Wang, Wei Gao
Federated Learning (FL) can be affected by data and device heterogeneities, caused by clients' different local data distributions and latencies in uploading model updates (i.e., staleness). Traditional schemes consider these heterogeneities as two separate and independent aspects, but this assumption is unrealistic in practical FL scenarios where these heterogeneities are intertwined. In these cases, traditional FL schemes are ineffective, and a better approach is to convert a stale model update into a unstale one. In this paper, we present a new FL framework that ensures the accuracy and computational efficiency of this conversion, hence effectively tackling the intertwined heterogeneities that may cause unlimited staleness in model updates. Our basic idea is to estimate the distributions of clients' local training data from their uploaded stale model updates, and use these estimations to compute unstale client model updates. In this way, our approach does not require any auxiliary dataset nor the clients' local models to be fully trained, and does not incur any additional computation or communication overhead at client devices. We compared our approach with the existing FL strategies on mainstream datasets and models, and showed that our approach can improve the trained model accuracy by up to 25% and reduce the number of required training epochs by up to 35%. BCS-Net: Boundary, Context and Semantic for Automatic COVID-19 Lung Infection Segmentation from CT ImagesRunmin Cong, Haowei Yang, Qiuping Jiang et al.
The spread of COVID-19 has brought a huge disaster to the world, and the automatic segmentation of infection regions can help doctors to make diagnosis quickly and reduce workload. However, there are several challenges for the accurate and complete segmentation, such as the scattered infection area distribution, complex background noises, and blurred segmentation boundaries. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel network for automatic COVID-19 lung infection segmentation from CT images, named BCS-Net, which considers the boundary, context, and semantic attributes. The BCS-Net follows an encoder-decoder architecture, and more designs focus on the decoder stage that includes three progressively Boundary-Context-Semantic Reconstruction (BCSR) blocks. In each BCSR block, the attention-guided global context (AGGC) module is designed to learn the most valuable encoder features for decoder by highlighting the important spatial and boundary locations and modeling the global context dependence. Besides, a semantic guidance (SG) unit generates the semantic guidance map to refine the decoder features by aggregating multi-scale high-level features at the intermediate resolution. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms the existing competitors both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Mug-STAN: Adapting Image-Language Pretrained Models for General Video UnderstandingRuyang Liu, Jingjia Huang, Wei Gao et al.
Large-scale image-language pretrained models, e.g., CLIP, have demonstrated remarkable proficiency in acquiring general multi-modal knowledge through web-scale image-text data. Despite the impressive performance of image-language models on various image tasks, how to effectively expand them on general video understanding remains an area of ongoing exploration. In this paper, we investigate the image-to-video transferring from the perspective of the model and the data, unveiling two key obstacles impeding the adaptation of image-language models: non-generalizable temporal modeling and partially misaligned video-text data. To address these challenges, we propose Spatial-Temporal Auxiliary Network with Mutual-guided alignment module (Mug-STAN), a simple yet effective framework extending image-text model to diverse video tasks and video-text data.Specifically, STAN adopts a branch structure with decomposed spatial-temporal modules to enable generalizable temporal modeling, while Mug suppresses misalignment by introducing token-wise feature aggregation of either modality from the other. Extensive experimental results verify Mug-STAN significantly improves adaptation of language-image pretrained models such as CLIP and CoCa at both video-text post-pretraining and finetuning stages. With our solution, state-of-the-art zero-shot and finetuning results on various downstream datasets, including MSR-VTT, DiDeMo, LSMDC, Kinetics-400, Something-Something-2, HMDB-51, UCF- 101, and AVA, are achieved. PUFA-GAN: A Frequency-Aware Generative Adversarial Network for 3D Point Cloud UpsamplingHao Liu, Hui Yuan, Junhui Hou et al.
We propose a generative adversarial network for point cloud upsampling, which can not only make the upsampled points evenly distributed on the underlying surface but also efficiently generate clean high frequency regions. The generator of our network includes a dynamic graph hierarchical residual aggregation unit and a hierarchical residual aggregation unit for point feature extraction and upsampling, respectively. The former extracts multiscale point-wise descriptive features, while the latter captures rich feature details with hierarchical residuals. To generate neat edges, our discriminator uses a graph filter to extract and retain high frequency points. The generated high resolution point cloud and corresponding high frequency points help the discriminator learn the global and high frequency properties of the point cloud. We also propose an identity distribution loss function to make sure that the upsampled points remain on the underlying surface of the input low resolution point cloud. To assess the regularity of the upsampled points in high frequency regions, we introduce two evaluation metrics. Objective and subjective results demonstrate that the visual quality of the upsampled point clouds generated by our method is better than that of the state-of-the-art methods.

In this article, we study the free vibration and the mechanical buckling of plates using a three dimensional consistent approach based on the scaled boundary finite element method. The in-plane dimensions of the plate are modeled by two-dimensional higher order spectral element. The solution through the thickness is expressed analytically with Pade expansion. The stiffness matrix is derived directly from the three dimensional solutions and by employing the spectral element, a diagonal mass matrix is obtained. The formulation does not require ad hoc shear correction factors and no numerical locking arises. The material properties are assumed to be temperature independent and graded only in the in-plane direction by a simple power law. The effective material properties are estimated using the rule of mixtures. The influence of the material gradient index, the boundary conditions and the geometry of the plate on the fundamental frequencies and critical buckling load are numerically investigated.

StreamFlow: Streamlined Multi-Frame Optical Flow Estimation for Video SequencesShangkun Sun, Jiaming Liu, Thomas H. Li et al.
Occlusions between consecutive frames have long posed a significant challenge in optical flow estimation. The inherent ambiguity introduced by occlusions directly violates the brightness constancy constraint and considerably hinders pixel-to-pixel matching. To address this issue, multi-frame optical flow methods leverage adjacent frames to mitigate the local ambiguity. Nevertheless, prior multi-frame methods predominantly adopt recursive flow estimation, resulting in a considerable computational overlap. In contrast, we propose a streamlined in-batch framework that eliminates the need for extensive redundant recursive computations while concurrently developing effective spatio-temporal modeling approaches under in-batch estimation constraints. Specifically, we present a Streamlined In-batch Multi-frame (SIM) pipeline tailored to video input, attaining a similar level of time efficiency to two-frame networks. Furthermore, we introduce an efficient Integrative Spatio-temporal Coherence (ISC) modeling method for effective spatio-temporal modeling during the encoding phase, which introduces no additional parameter overhead. Additionally, we devise a Global Temporal Regressor (GTR) that effectively explores temporal relations during decoding. Benefiting from the efficient SIM pipeline and effective modules, StreamFlow not only excels in terms of performance on the challenging KITTI and Sintel datasets, with particular improvement in occluded areas but also attains a remarkable $63.82\%$ enhancement in speed compared with previous multi-frame methods. MultiPhishGuard: An Explainable and Adaptive Multi-Agent LLM System for Phishing Email DetectionYinuo Xue, Eric Spero, Meng Wai Woo et al.
Phishing email detection faces significant challenges due to evolving adversarial tactics and heterogeneous attack patterns. Traditional approaches, such as rule-based filters and denylists, often struggle to keep pace, leading to missed detections and security risks. While machine learning methods have improved detection performance, they remain limited in adapting to novel and rapidly changing phishing strategies. We present MultiPhishGuard, an LLM-based multi-agent detection framework with learned coordination across specialized agents. The system consists of five cooperative agents (text, URL, metadata, explanation simplifier, and adversarial agents), with agent contributions dynamically weighted using Proximal Policy Optimization. To address emerging threats, the framework incorporates an adversarial training loop in which an LLM-based agent generates subtle, context-aware email variants to expose potential model weaknesses and improve robustness to ambiguous phishing cases. Experimental evaluations on public datasets show that MultiPhishGuard achieves stronger performance than established baselines, including Chain-of-Thought prompting and single-agent variants, as supported by ablation studies and comparative analyses. The system achieves an accuracy of 97.89%, with a false positive rate of 2.73% and a false negative rate of 0.20%. In addition, an explanation simplifier agent transforms technical model outputs into plain-language rationales intended for human users. Overall, these results suggest that multi-agent LLM architectures with adaptive coordination and adversarial training represent a promising direction for phishing email detection.

OpenMedIA: Open-Source Medical Image Analysis Toolbox and Benchmark under Heterogeneous AI Computing PlatformsJia-Xin Zhuang, Xiansong Huang, Yang Yang et al.
In this paper, we present OpenMedIA, an open-source toolbox library containing a rich set of deep learning methods for medical image analysis under heterogeneous Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing platforms. Various medical image analysis methods, including 2D/3D medical image classification, segmentation, localisation, and detection, have been included in the toolbox with PyTorch and/or MindSpore implementations under heterogeneous NVIDIA and Huawei Ascend computing systems. To our best knowledge, OpenMedIA is the first open-source algorithm library providing compared PyTorch and MindSpore implementations and results on several benchmark datasets. Dexterity-BEV: Aligning 3D World and Actions for Generalizable Robot Policies LearningHuayi Zhou, Wei Gao, Dekun Lu et al.
End-to-end manipulation policies, combined with web-scale pretrained Vision-Language Models (VLMs), show the promise for generalizable and dexterous robotic manipulation. However, they inherit two key limitations from 2D foundation models: 1) the reliance on 2D RGB inputs that ignores the intrinsically 3D nature of manipulation; and 2) the lack of spatial 3D alignment between input-output spaces as well as across diverse robot embodiments, camera setups, and trajectory datasets. In this paper, we present a series of contributions to address these issues. First, we introduce aligned vertex map and vertex spectrum -- a pixel-wise 3D representation that elevates 2D visual inputs to 3D, using camera calibration and optional depth. This novel input representation marries 3D awareness with the generalization of 2D large VLMs. Then, we propose to align the inputs and outputs of manipulation policies by expressing per-pixel 3D information of each camera view and robot actions to a shared coordinate. Based on this, we designate a canonical Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) alignment frame and innovatively propose to construct BEV images, producing a view-invariant representation robust to camera pose variations. To enable training and evaluation at scale, we develop a comprehensive data processing pipeline to perform such alignments; we also introduce a novel temporal alignment scheme for trajectories across diverse robots, human operators, and datasets. These contributions collectively mitigate input and output spatial-temporal misalignments, improving the consistency and generalization for real-world manipulation. Improving Conversational Recommender System via Contextual and Time-Aware Modeling with Less Domain-Specific KnowledgeLingzhi Wang, Shafiq Joty, Wei Gao et al.
Conversational Recommender Systems (CRS) has become an emerging research topic seeking to perform recommendations through interactive conversations, which generally consist of generation and recommendation modules. Prior work on CRS tends to incorporate more external and domain-specific knowledge like item reviews to enhance performance. Despite the fact that the collection and annotation of the external domain-specific information needs much human effort and degenerates the generalizability, too much extra knowledge introduces more difficulty to balance among them. Therefore, we propose to fully discover and extract internal knowledge from the context. We capture both entity-level and contextual-level representations to jointly model user preferences for the recommendation, where a time-aware attention is designed to emphasize the recently appeared items in entity-level representations. We further use the pre-trained BART to initialize the generation module to alleviate the data scarcity and enhance the context modeling. In addition to conducting experiments on a popular dataset (ReDial), we also include a multi-domain dataset (OpenDialKG) to show the effectiveness of our model. Experiments on both datasets show that our model achieves better performance on most evaluation metrics with less external knowledge and generalizes well to other domains. Additional analyses on the recommendation and generation tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of our model in different scenarios.

Receding Horizon Inverse Reinforcement LearningYiqing Xu, Wei Gao, David Hsu
Inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) seeks to infer a cost function that explains the underlying goals and preferences of expert demonstrations. This paper presents receding horizon inverse reinforcement learning (RHIRL), a new IRL algorithm for high-dimensional, noisy, continuous systems with black-box dynamic models. RHIRL addresses two key challenges of IRL: scalability and robustness. To handle high-dimensional continuous systems, RHIRL matches the induced optimal trajectories with expert demonstrations locally in a receding horizon manner and 'stitches' together the local solutions to learn the cost; it thereby avoids the 'curse of dimensionality'. This contrasts sharply with earlier algorithms that match with expert demonstrations globally over the entire high-dimensional state space. To be robust against imperfect expert demonstrations and control noise, RHIRL learns a state-dependent cost function 'disentangled' from system dynamics under mild conditions. Experiments on benchmark tasks show that RHIRL outperforms several leading IRL algorithms in most instances. We also prove that the cumulative error of RHIRL grows linearly with the task duration.

Diagnosing LLM Arbitration Behavior over Pre-evidence Epistemic States in RAG-based Fact-CheckingYuxi Sun, Wenbo Shang, Wei Gao et al.
In RAG-based fact-checking, LLMs are increasingly used as verifiers to check given claims against retrieved evidence. Their parametric knowledge can induce pre-evidence tendencies that may conflict with the retrieved context, yet existing evaluation frameworks do not characterize such prior-context discrepancy or measure how verifiers arbitrate between parametric and contextual signals. We introduce \textsc{PAVE} (\emph{Prior-Aware Verifier Evaluation}), a diagnostic testbed that stratifies an LLM verifier into four epistemic states based on the correctness and confidence of its pre-evidence prior and evaluates its arbitration behavior on this new benchmark, i.e., whether it persists in correct prior under misleading evidence, and whether it corrects wrong prior when accurate evidence is provided. Experiments across seven LLMs reveal unreliable and highly model-dependent prior-context arbitration, highlighting the importance of verifier selection for real-world RAG-based fact-checking applications. Based on these findings, we propose a lightweight JSD-based test-time arbitration method that improves factual reliability without modifying the underlying model, achieving competitive performance across diverse LLM families.

Let It Flow: Agentic Crafting on Rock and Roll, Building the ROME Model within an Open Agentic Learning EcosystemWeixun Wang, XiaoXiao Xu, Wanhe An et al.
Agentic crafting requires LLMs to operate in real-world environments over multiple turns by taking actions, observing outcomes, and iteratively refining artifacts. Despite its importance, the open-source community lacks a principled, end-to-end ecosystem to streamline agent development. We introduce the Agentic Learning Ecosystem (ALE), a foundational infrastructure that optimizes the production pipeline for agentic model. ALE consists of three components: ROLL, a post-training framework for weight optimization; ROCK, a sandbox environment manager for trajectory generation; and iFlow CLI, an agent framework for efficient context engineering. We release ROME, an open-source agent grounded by ALE and trained on over one million trajectories. Our approach includes data composition protocols for synthesizing complex behaviors and a novel policy optimization algorithm, Interaction-Perceptive Agentic Policy Optimization (IPA), which assigns credit over semantic interaction chunks rather than individual tokens to improve long-horizon training stability. Empirically, we evaluate ROME within a structured setting and introduce Terminal Bench Pro, a benchmark with improved scale and contamination control. ROME demonstrates strong performance across benchmarks like SWE-bench Verified and Terminal Bench, proving the effectiveness of ALE.

Wearing Masks Implies Refuting Trump?: Towards Target-specific User Stance Prediction across Events in COVID-19 and US Election 2020Hong Zhang, Haewoon Kwak, Wei Gao et al.
People who share similar opinions towards controversial topics could form an echo chamber and may share similar political views toward other topics as well. The existence of such connections, which we call connected behavior, gives researchers a unique opportunity to predict how one would behave for a future event given their past behaviors. In this work, we propose a framework to conduct connected behavior analysis. Neural stance detection models are trained on Twitter data collected on three seemingly independent topics, i.e., wearing a mask, racial equality, and Trump, to detect people's stance, which we consider as their online behavior in each topic-related event. Our results reveal a strong connection between the stances toward the three topical events and demonstrate the power of past behaviors in predicting one's future behavior.

A Weakly Supervised Propagation Model for Rumor Verification and Stance Detection with Multiple Instance LearningRuichao Yang, Jing Ma, Hongzhan Lin et al.
The diffusion of rumors on microblogs generally follows a propagation tree structure, that provides valuable clues on how an original message is transmitted and responded by users over time. Recent studies reveal that rumor detection and stance detection are two different but relevant tasks which can jointly enhance each other, e.g., rumors can be debunked by cross-checking the stances conveyed by their relevant microblog posts, and stances are also conditioned on the nature of the rumor. However, most stance detection methods require enormous post-level stance labels for training, which are labor-intensive given a large number of posts. Enlightened by Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) scheme, we first represent the diffusion of claims with bottom-up and top-down trees, then propose two tree-structured weakly supervised frameworks to jointly classify rumors and stances, where only the bag-level labels concerning claim's veracity are needed. Specifically, we convert the multi-class problem into a multiple MIL-based binary classification problem where each binary model focuses on differentiating a target stance or rumor type and other types. Finally, we propose a hierarchical attention mechanism to aggregate the binary predictions, including (1) a bottom-up or top-down tree attention layer to aggregate binary stances into binary veracity; and (2) a discriminative attention layer to aggregate the binary class into finer-grained classes. Extensive experiments conducted on three Twitter-based datasets demonstrate promising performance of our model on both claim-level rumor detection and post-level stance classification compared with state-of-the-art methods.

RollArt: Scaling Agentic RL Training via Disaggregated InfrastructureWei Gao, Yuheng Zhao, Tianyuan Wu et al.
Agentic Reinforcement Learning (RL) enables Large Language Models (LLMs) to perform autonomous decision-making and long-term planning. Unlike standard LLM post-training, agentic RL workloads are highly heterogeneous, combining compute-intensive prefill phases, bandwidth-bound decoding, and stateful, CPU-heavy environment simulations. We argue that efficient agentic RL training requires disaggregated infrastructure to leverage specialized, best-fit hardware. However, naive disaggregation introduces substantial synchronization overhead and resource underutilization due to the complex dependencies between stages. We present RollArc, a distributed system designed to maximize throughput for multi-task agentic RL on disaggregated infrastructure. RollArc is built on three core principles: (1) hardware-affinity workload mapping, which routes compute-bound and bandwidth-bound tasks to bestfit GPU devices, (2) fine-grained asynchrony, which manages execution at the trajectory level to mitigate resource bubbles, and (3) statefulness-aware computation, which offloads stateless components (e.g., reward models) to serverless infrastructure for elastic scaling. Our results demonstrate that RollArc effectively improves training throughput and achieves 1.35-2.05\(\times\) end-to-end training time reduction compared to monolithic and synchronous baselines. We also evaluate RollArc by training a hundreds-of-billions-parameter MoE model for Qoder product on an Alibaba cluster with more than 3,000 GPUs, further demonstrating RollArc scalability and robustness. $AutoDrive\text{-}P^3$: Unified Chain of Perception-Prediction-Planning Thought via Reinforcement Fine-TuningYuqi Ye, Zijian Zhang, Junhong Lin et al.
Vision-language models (VLMs) are increasingly being adopted for end-to-end autonomous driving systems due to their exceptional performance in handling long-tail scenarios. However, current VLM-based approaches suffer from two major limitations: 1) Some VLMs directly output planning results without chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, bypassing crucial perception and prediction stages which creates a significant domain gap and compromises decision-making capability; 2) Other VLMs can generate outputs for perception, prediction, and planning tasks but employ a fragmented decision-making approach where these modules operate separately, leading to a significant lack of synergy that undermines true planning performance. To address these limitations, we propose ${AutoDrive\text{-}P^3}$, a novel framework that seamlessly integrates $\textbf{P}$erception, $\textbf{P}$rediction, and $\textbf{P}$lanning through structured reasoning. We introduce the ${P^3\text{-}CoT}$ dataset to facilitate coherent reasoning and propose ${P^3\text{-}GRPO}$, a hierarchical reinforcement learning algorithm that provides progressive supervision across all three tasks. Specifically, ${AutoDrive\text{-}P^3}$ progressively generates CoT reasoning and answers for perception, prediction, and planning, where perception provides essential information for subsequent prediction and planning, while both perception and prediction collectively contribute to the final planning decisions, enabling safer and more interpretable autonomous driving. Additionally, to balance inference efficiency with performance, we introduce dual thinking modes: detailed thinking and fast thinking. Extensive experiments on both open-loop (nuScenes) and closed-loop (NAVSIMv1/v2) benchmarks demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance in planning tasks. VE-Bench: Subjective-Aligned Benchmark Suite for Text-Driven Video Editing Quality AssessmentShangkun Sun, Xiaoyu Liang, Songlin Fan et al.
Text-driven video editing has recently experienced rapid development. Despite this, evaluating edited videos remains a considerable challenge. Current metrics tend to fail to align with human perceptions, and effective quantitative metrics for video editing are still notably absent. To address this, we introduce VE-Bench, a benchmark suite tailored to the assessment of text-driven video editing. This suite includes VE-Bench DB, a video quality assessment (VQA) database for video editing. VE-Bench DB encompasses a diverse set of source videos featuring various motions and subjects, along with multiple distinct editing prompts, editing results from 8 different models, and the corresponding Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) from 24 human annotators. Based on VE-Bench DB, we further propose VE-Bench QA, a quantitative human-aligned measurement for the text-driven video editing task. In addition to the aesthetic, distortion, and other visual quality indicators that traditional VQA methods emphasize, VE-Bench QA focuses on the text-video alignment and the relevance modeling between source and edited videos. It proposes a new assessment network for video editing that attains superior performance in alignment with human preferences. To the best of our knowledge, VE-Bench introduces the first quality assessment dataset for video editing and an effective subjective-aligned quantitative metric for this domain. Deep Geometry Post-Processing for Decompressed Point CloudsXiaoqing Fan, Ge Li, Dingquan Li et al.
Point cloud compression plays a crucial role in reducing the huge cost of data storage and transmission. However, distortions can be introduced into the decompressed point clouds due to quantization. In this paper, we propose a novel learning-based post-processing method to enhance the decompressed point clouds. Specifically, a voxelized point cloud is first divided into small cubes. Then, a 3D convolutional network is proposed to predict the occupancy probability for each location of a cube. We leverage both local and global contexts by generating multi-scale probabilities. These probabilities are progressively summed to predict the results in a coarse-to-fine manner. Finally, we obtain the geometry-refined point clouds based on the predicted probabilities. Different from previous methods, we deal with decompressed point clouds with huge variety of distortions using a single model. Experimental results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the quality of the decompressed point clouds, achieving 9.30dB BDPSNR gain on three representative datasets on average.

The design of robots that are light, soft, powerful is a grand challenge. Since they can easily adapt to dynamic environments, soft robotic systems have the potential of changing the status-quo of bulky robotics. A crucial component of soft robotics is a soft actuator that is activated by external stimuli to generate desired motions. Unfortunately, there is a lack of powerful soft actuators that operate through lightweight power sources. To that end, we recently designed a highly scalable, flexible, biocompatible Electromagnetic Soft Actuator (ESA). With ESAs, artificial muscles can be designed by integrating a network of ESAs. The main research gap addressed in this work is in the absence of system-theoretic understanding of the impact of the realtime control and actuator selection algorithms on the performance of networked soft-body actuators and ESAs. The objective of this paper is to establish a framework that guides the analysis and robust control of networked ESAs. A novel ESA is described, and a configuration of soft actuator matrix to resemble artificial muscle fiber is presented. A mathematical model which depicts the physical network is derived, considering the disturbances due to external forces and linearization errors as an integral part of this model. Then, a robust control and minimal actuator selection problem with logistic constraints and control input bounds is formulated, and tractable computational routines are proposed with numerical case studies.

Early Rumor Detection Using Neural Hawkes Process with a New Benchmark DatasetFengzhu Zeng, Wei Gao
Little attention has been paid on \underline{EA}rly \underline{R}umor \underline{D}etection (EARD), and EARD performance was evaluated inappropriately on a few datasets where the actual early-stage information is largely missing. To reverse such situation, we construct BEARD, a new \underline{B}enchmark dataset for \underline{EARD}, based on claims from fact-checking websites by trying to gather as many early relevant posts as possible. We also propose HEARD, a novel model based on neural \underline{H}awkes process for \underline{EARD}, which can guide a generic rumor detection model to make timely, accurate and stable predictions. Experiments show that HEARD achieves effective EARD performance on two commonly used general rumor detection datasets and our BEARD dataset.

A Large-Scale Multimodal Dataset and Benchmarks for Human Activity Scene Understanding and ReasoningSiyang Jiang, Mu Yuan, Xiang Ji et al.
Multimodal human action recognition (HAR) leverages complementary sensors for activity classification. Beyond recognition, recent advances in large language models (LLMs) enable detailed descriptions and causal reasoning, motivating new tasks: human action understanding (HAU) and human action reasoning (HARn). However, most LLMs, especially large vision language models (LVLMs), struggle with non-RGB modalities such as depth, IMU, and mmWave due to the lack of large-scale data-caption resources. Existing HAR datasets mainly provide coarse data-label annotations, which are insufficient to capture fine-grained action dynamics needed for HAU and HARn. We consider two ground-truth pair types: (1) data label (discrete category) and (2) data caption (textual description). Naively generating captions from labels often lacks logical and spatiotemporal consistency. We introduce CUHK-X, a large-scale multimodal dataset and benchmark suite for HAR, HAU, and HARn. CUHK-X contains 58,445 samples covering 40 actions performed by 30 participants across two indoor environments. To improve caption consistency, we propose a prompt-based scene creation method that leverages LLMs to generate logically connected activity sequences, followed by human validation. CUHK-X includes three benchmarks with six evaluation tasks. Experiments report average accuracies of 76.52% (HAR), 40.76% (HAU), and 70.25% (HARn). CUHK-X aims to enable the community to apply and develop data-intensive learning methods for robust, multimodal human activity analysis. Salient Object Detection for Point CloudsSonglin Fan, Wei Gao, Ge Li
This paper researches the unexplored task-point cloud salient object detection (SOD). Differing from SOD for images, we find the attention shift of point clouds may provoke saliency conflict, i.e., an object paradoxically belongs to salient and non-salient categories. To eschew this issue, we present a novel view-dependent perspective of salient objects, reasonably reflecting the most eye-catching objects in point cloud scenarios. Following this formulation, we introduce PCSOD, the first dataset proposed for point cloud SOD consisting of 2,872 in-/out-door 3D views. The samples in our dataset are labeled with hierarchical annotations, e.g., super-/sub-class, bounding box, and segmentation map, which endows the brilliant generalizability and broad applicability of our dataset verifying various conjectures. To evidence the feasibility of our solution, we further contribute a baseline model and benchmark five representative models for a comprehensive comparison. The proposed model can effectively analyze irregular and unordered points for detecting salient objects. Thanks to incorporating the task-tailored designs, our method shows visible superiority over other baselines, producing more satisfactory results. Extensive experiments and discussions reveal the promising potential of this research field, paving the way for further study.

DialogConv: A Lightweight Fully Convolutional Network for Multi-view Response SelectionYongkang Liu, Shi Feng, Wei Gao et al.
Current end-to-end retrieval-based dialogue systems are mainly based on Recurrent Neural Networks or Transformers with attention mechanisms. Although promising results have been achieved, these models often suffer from slow inference or huge number of parameters. In this paper, we propose a novel lightweight fully convolutional architecture, called DialogConv, for response selection. DialogConv is exclusively built on top of convolution to extract matching features of context and response. Dialogues are modeled in 3D views, where DialogConv performs convolution operations on embedding view, word view and utterance view to capture richer semantic information from multiple contextual views. On the four benchmark datasets, compared with state-of-the-art baselines, DialogConv is on average about 8.5x smaller in size, and 79.39x and 10.64x faster on CPU and GPU devices, respectively. At the same time, DialogConv achieves the competitive effectiveness of response selection.

Learning Robust 3D Representation from CLIP via Dual DenoisingShuqing Luo, Bowen Qu, Wei Gao
In this paper, we explore a critical yet under-investigated issue: how to learn robust and well-generalized 3D representation from pre-trained vision language models such as CLIP. Previous works have demonstrated that cross-modal distillation can provide rich and useful knowledge for 3D data. However, like most deep learning models, the resultant 3D learning network is still vulnerable to adversarial attacks especially the iterative attack. In this work, we propose Dual Denoising, a novel framework for learning robust and well-generalized 3D representations from CLIP. It combines a denoising-based proxy task with a novel feature denoising network for 3D pre-training. Additionally, we propose utilizing parallel noise inference to enhance the generalization of point cloud features under cross domain settings. Experiments show that our model can effectively improve the representation learning performance and adversarial robustness of the 3D learning network under zero-shot settings without adversarial training. DisagFusion: Asynchronous Pipeline Parallelism and Elastic Scheduling for Disaggregated Diffusion ServingHantian Zha, Teng Ma, Yang Yong et al.
Diffusion-based generation is increasingly powering production content pipelines; however, deploying these models at scale remains a significant challenge. Model weights frequently exceed the memory capacity of commodity GPUs, while the encoder, diffusion transformer (DiT), and decoder stages exhibit highly imbalanced computational and memory footprints. A natural remedy is disaggregated serving-running stages as separate services on heterogeneous GPUs-yet this introduces new bottlenecks, including stage handoff overheads and fast-changing workloads that make cross-stage provisioning and scheduling brittle. This paper presents DisagFusion, enabling asynchronous pipeline parallelism and elastic scheduling for disaggregated diffusion serving. First, DisagFusion introduces asynchronous pipeline parallelism that overlaps computation and stage-to-stage communication to reduce pipeline bubbles and mitigate network jitter. Second, DisagFusion employs a hybrid instance scheduling strategy that combines lightweight performance prediction with runtime feedback to continuously rebalance instance ratio across stages under workload shifts. We implement DisagFusion and evaluate it with modern diffusion models. Compared to a monolithic baseline, DisagFusion improves throughput by 3.4x-20.5x and reduces end-to-end latency by 18.5x, while enabling flexible, cost-efficient deployment across heterogeneous GPUs.

Towards LLM-based Fact Verification on News Claims with a Hierarchical Step-by-Step Prompting MethodXuan Zhang, Wei Gao
While large pre-trained language models (LLMs) have shown their impressive capabilities in various NLP tasks, they are still under-explored in the misinformation domain. In this paper, we examine LLMs with in-context learning (ICL) for news claim verification, and find that only with 4-shot demonstration examples, the performance of several prompting methods can be comparable with previous supervised models. To further boost performance, we introduce a Hierarchical Step-by-Step (HiSS) prompting method which directs LLMs to separate a claim into several subclaims and then verify each of them via multiple questions-answering steps progressively. Experiment results on two public misinformation datasets show that HiSS prompting outperforms state-of-the-art fully-supervised approach and strong few-shot ICL-enabled baselines.

WSDMS: Debunk Fake News via Weakly Supervised Detection of Misinforming Sentences with Contextualized Social WisdomRuichao Yang, Wei Gao, Jing Ma et al.
In recent years, we witness the explosion of false and unconfirmed information (i.e., rumors) that went viral on social media and shocked the public. Rumors can trigger versatile, mostly controversial stance expressions among social media users. Rumor verification and stance detection are different yet relevant tasks. Fake news debunking primarily focuses on determining the truthfulness of news articles, which oversimplifies the issue as fake news often combines elements of both truth and falsehood. Thus, it becomes crucial to identify specific instances of misinformation within the articles. In this research, we investigate a novel task in the field of fake news debunking, which involves detecting sentence-level misinformation. One of the major challenges in this task is the absence of a training dataset with sentence-level annotations regarding veracity. Inspired by the Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) approach, we propose a model called Weakly Supervised Detection of Misinforming Sentences (WSDMS). This model only requires bag-level labels for training but is capable of inferring both sentence-level misinformation and article-level veracity, aided by relevant social media conversations that are attentively contextualized with news sentences. We evaluate WSDMS on three real-world benchmarks and demonstrate that it outperforms existing state-of-the-art baselines in debunking fake news at both the sentence and article levels.

Reasoning Path and Latent State Analysis for Multi-view Visual Spatial Reasoning: A Cognitive Science PerspectiveQiyao Xue, Weichen Liu, Shiqi Wang et al.
Spatial reasoning is a core aspect of human intelligence that allows perception, inference and planning in 3D environments. However, current vision-language models (VLMs) struggle to maintain geometric coherence and cross-view consistency for spatial reasoning in multi-view settings. We attribute this gap to the lack of fine-grained benchmarks that isolate multi-view reasoning from single-view perception and temporal factors. To address this, we present ReMindView-Bench, a cognitively grounded benchmark for evaluating how VLMs construct, align and maintain spatial mental models across complementary viewpoints. ReMindView-Bench systematically varies viewpoint spatial pattern and query type to probe key factors of spatial cognition. Evaluations of 15 current VLMs reveals consistent failures in cross-view alignment and perspective-taking in multi-view spatial reasoning, motivating deeper analysis on the reasoning process. Explicit phase-wise analysis using LLM-as-a-judge and self-consistency prompting shows that VLMs perform well on in-frame perception but degrade sharply when integrating information across views. Implicit analysis, including linear probing and entropy dynamics, further show progressive loss of task-relevant information and uncertainty separation between correct and incorrect trajectories. These results provide a cognitively grounded diagnosis of VLM spatial reasoning and reveal how multi-view spatial mental models are formed, degraded and destabilized across reasoning phases. Reinforcement Learning (RL) has emerged as a powerful paradigm for training LLM-based agents, yet remains limited by low sample efficiency, stemming not only from sparse outcome feedback but also from the agent's inability to leverage prior experience across episodes. While augmenting agents with historical experience offers a promising remedy, existing approaches suffer from a critical weakness: the experience distilled from history is either stored statically or fail to coevolve with the improving actor, causing a progressive misalignment between the experience and the actor's evolving capability that diminishes its utility over the course of training. Inspired by complementary learning systems in neuroscience, we present Complementary RL to achieve seamless co-evolution of an experience extractor and a policy actor within the RL optimization loop. Specifically, the actor is optimized via sparse outcome-based rewards, while the experience extractor is optimized according to whether its distilled experiences demonstrably contribute to the actor's success, thereby evolving its experience management strategy in lockstep with the actor's growing capabilities. Empirically, Complementary RL outperforms outcome-based agentic RL baselines that do not learn from experience, achieving 10% performance improvement in single-task scenarios and exhibits robust scalability in multi-task settings. These results establish Complementary RL as a paradigm for efficient experience-driven agent learning.

Uncovering and Shaping the Latent Representation of 3D Scene Topology in Vision-Language ModelsHaoming Wang, Wei Gao
Decades of cognitive science establish that humans navigate environments by forming cognitive maps, defined as allocentric and topology-preserving representations of 3D space. While modern Vision-Language Models (VLMs) demonstrate emergent spatial reasoning from 2D egocentric inputs, it remains unclear whether they construct an analogous 3D internal representation. In this paper, we demonstrate that current VLMs do possess a latent topological map of 3D scenes, but it is heavily overshadowed by non-geometric visual semantics, such as color and shape. By isolating this spatial subspace through cross-scene linear feature extraction, we extract a clean spatial subspace that causally controls the model's spatial outputs. We mathematically shape this latent representation and prove its correspondence to the Laplacian eigenmaps of the scene's 3D Gaussian-kernel graph, converging to the physical 3D space in the continuous limit. Motivated by this geometric identification, we further introduce a mathematically principled latent regularization method for VLMs, based on Dirichlet energy. Applying this single-term regularizer to a minimal 500-step supervised VLM fine-tuning (SFT) on simple synthetic data yields significant improvements on real-world spatial benchmarks, outperforming standard SFT and competitive baselines by up to 12.1\% in spatial tasks involving scene topology understanding. Joint Link Adaptation and Device Scheduling Approach for URLLC Industrial IoT Network: A DRL-based Method with Bayesian OptimizationWei Gao, Paul Zheng, Peng Wu et al.
In this article, we consider an industrial internet of things (IIoT) network supporting multi-device dynamic ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) while the channel state information (CSI) is imperfect. A joint link adaptation (LA) and device scheduling (including the order) design is provided, aiming at maximizing the total transmission rate under strict block error rate (BLER) constraints. In particular, a Bayesian optimization (BO) driven Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) method is proposed, which determines the device served order sequence and the corresponding modulation and coding scheme (MCS) adaptively based on the imperfect CSI. Note that the imperfection of CSI, error sample imbalance in URLLC networks, as well as the parameter sensitivity nature of the TD3 algorithm likely diminish the algorithm's convergence speed and reliability. To address such an issue, we proposed a BO based training mechanism for the convergence speed improvement, which provides a more reliable learning direction and sample selection method to track the imbalance sample problem. Via extensive simulations, we show that the proposed algorithm achieves faster convergence and higher sum-rate performance compared to existing solutions.

PhyT2V: LLM-Guided Iterative Self-Refinement for Physics-Grounded Text-to-Video GenerationQiyao Xue, Xiangyu Yin, Boyuan Yang et al.
Text-to-video (T2V) generation has been recently enabled by transformer-based diffusion models, but current T2V models lack capabilities in adhering to the real-world common knowledge and physical rules, due to their limited understanding of physical realism and deficiency in temporal modeling. Existing solutions are either data-driven or require extra model inputs, but cannot be generalizable to out-of-distribution domains. In this paper, we present PhyT2V, a new data-independent T2V technique that expands the current T2V model's capability of video generation to out-of-distribution domains, by enabling chain-of-thought and step-back reasoning in T2V prompting. Our experiments show that PhyT2V improves existing T2V models' adherence to real-world physical rules by 2.3x, and achieves 35% improvement compared to T2V prompt enhancers. Overview and Comparison of AVS Point Cloud Compression StandardWei Gao, Wenxu Gao, Xingming Mu et al.
Point cloud is a prevalent 3D data representation format with significant application values in immersive media, autonomous driving, digital heritage protection, etc. However, the large data size of point clouds poses challenges to transmission and storage, which influences the wide deployments. Therefore, point cloud compression plays a crucial role in practical applications for both human and machine perception optimization. To this end, the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) has established two standards for point cloud compression, including Geometry-based Point Cloud Compression (G-PCC) and Video-based Point Cloud Compression (V-PCC). In the meantime, the Audio Video coding Standard (AVS) Workgroup of China also have launched and completed the development for its first generation point cloud compression standard, namely AVS PCC. This new standardization effort has adopted many new coding tools and techniques, which are different from the other counterpart standards. This paper reviews the AVS PCC standard from two perspectives, i.e., the related technologies and performance comparisons.

Probabilistic Concept Graph Reasoning for Multimodal Misinformation DetectionRuichao Yang, Wei Gao, Xiaobin Zhu et al.
Multimodal misinformation poses an escalating challenge that often evades traditional detectors, which are opaque black boxes and fragile against new manipulation tactics. We present Probabilistic Concept Graph Reasoning (PCGR), an interpretable and evolvable framework that reframes multimodal misinformation detection (MMD) as structured and concept-based reasoning. PCGR follows a build-then-infer paradigm, which first constructs a graph of human-understandable concept nodes, including novel high-level concepts automatically discovered and validated by multimodal large language models (MLLMs), and then applies hierarchical attention over this concept graph to infer claim veracity. This design produces interpretable reasoning chains linking evidence to conclusions. Experiments demonstrate that PCGR achieves state-of-the-art MMD accuracy and robustness to emerging manipulation types, outperforming prior methods in both coarse detection and fine-grained manipulation recognition.

Margin has played an important role on the design and analysis of learning algorithms during the past years, mostly working with the maximization of the minimum margin. Recent years have witnessed the increasing empirical studies on the optimization of margin distribution according to different statistics such as medium margin, average margin, margin variance, etc., whereas there is a relative paucity of theoretical understanding. In this work, we take one step on this direction by providing a new generalization error bound, which is heavily relevant to margin distribution by incorporating ingredients such as average margin and semi-variance, a new margin statistics for the characterization of margin distribution. Inspired by the theoretical findings, we propose the MSVMAv, an efficient approach to achieve better performance by optimizing margin distribution in terms of its empirical average margin and semi-variance. We finally conduct extensive experiments to show the superiority of the proposed MSVMAv approach.

Screen-based 3D Subjective Experiment SoftwareSonglin Fan, Wei Gao
Recently, widespread 3D graphics (e.g., point clouds and meshes) have drawn considerable efforts from academia and industry to assess their perceptual quality by conducting subjective experiments. However, lacking a handy software for 3D subjective experiments complicates the construction of 3D graphics quality assessment datasets, thus hindering the prosperity of relevant fields. In this paper, we develop a powerful platform with which users can flexibly design their 3D subjective methodologies and build high-quality datasets, easing a broad spectrum of 3D graphics subjective quality study. To accurately illustrate the perceptual quality differences of 3D stimuli, our software can simultaneously render the source stimulus and impaired stimulus and allows both stimuli to respond synchronously to viewer interactions. Compared with amateur 3D visualization tool-based or image/video rendering-based schemes, our approach embodies typical 3D applications while minimizing cognitive overload during subjective experiments. We organized a subjective experiment involving 40 participants to verify the validity of the proposed software. Experimental analyses demonstrate that subjective tests on our software can produce reasonable subjective quality scores of 3D models. Bringing Textual Prompt to AI-Generated Image Quality AssessmentBowen Qu, Haohui Li, Wei Gao
AI-Generated Images (AGIs) have inherent multimodal nature. Unlike traditional image quality assessment (IQA) on natural scenarios, AGIs quality assessment (AGIQA) takes the correspondence of image and its textual prompt into consideration. This is coupled in the ground truth score, which confuses the unimodal IQA methods. To solve this problem, we introduce IP-IQA (AGIs Quality Assessment via Image and Prompt), a multimodal framework for AGIQA via corresponding image and prompt incorporation. Specifically, we propose a novel incremental pretraining task named Image2Prompt for better understanding of AGIs and their corresponding textual prompts. An effective and efficient image-prompt fusion module, along with a novel special [QA] token, are also applied. Both are plug-and-play and beneficial for the cooperation of image and its corresponding prompt. Experiments demonstrate that our IP-IQA achieves the state-of-the-art on AGIQA-1k and AGIQA-3k datasets. Code will be available at https://github.com/Coobiw/IP-IQA.

Multimodal Misinformation Detection by Learning from Synthetic Data with Multimodal LLMsFengzhu Zeng, Wenqian Li, Wei Gao et al.
Detecting multimodal misinformation, especially in the form of image-text pairs, is crucial. Obtaining large-scale, high-quality real-world fact-checking datasets for training detectors is costly, leading researchers to use synthetic datasets generated by AI technologies. However, the generalizability of detectors trained on synthetic data to real-world scenarios remains unclear due to the distribution gap. To address this, we propose learning from synthetic data for detecting real-world multimodal misinformation through two model-agnostic data selection methods that match synthetic and real-world data distributions. Experiments show that our method enhances the performance of a small MLLM (13B) on real-world fact-checking datasets, enabling it to even surpass GPT-4V~\cite{GPT-4V}.

Exploring AIGC Video Quality: A Focus on Visual Harmony, Video-Text Consistency and Domain Distribution GapBowen Qu, Xiaoyu Liang, Shangkun Sun et al.
The recent advancements in Text-to-Video Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) have been remarkable. Compared with traditional videos, the assessment of AIGC videos encounters various challenges: visual inconsistency that defy common sense, discrepancies between content and the textual prompt, and distribution gap between various generative models, etc. Target at these challenges, in this work, we categorize the assessment of AIGC video quality into three dimensions: visual harmony, video-text consistency, and domain distribution gap. For each dimension, we design specific modules to provide a comprehensive quality assessment of AIGC videos. Furthermore, our research identifies significant variations in visual quality, fluidity, and style among videos generated by different text-to-video models. Predicting the source generative model can make the AIGC video features more discriminative, which enhances the quality assessment performance. The proposed method was used in the third-place winner of the NTIRE 2024 Quality Assessment for AI-Generated Content - Track 2 Video, demonstrating its effectiveness. Prompt to be Consistent is Better than Self-Consistent? Few-Shot and Zero-Shot Fact Verification with Pre-trained Language ModelsFengzhu Zeng, Wei Gao
Few-shot or zero-shot fact verification only relies on a few or no labeled training examples. In this paper, we propose a novel method called ProToCo, to \underline{Pro}mpt pre-trained language models (PLMs) \underline{To} be \underline{Co}nsistent, for improving the factuality assessment capability of PLMs in the few-shot and zero-shot settings. Given a claim-evidence pair, ProToCo generates multiple variants of the claim with different relations and frames a simple consistency mechanism as constraints for making compatible predictions across these variants. We update PLMs by using parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT), leading to more accurate predictions in few-shot and zero-shot fact verification tasks. Our experiments on three public verification datasets show that ProToCo significantly outperforms state-of-the-art few-shot fact verification baselines. With a small number of unlabeled instances, ProToCo also outperforms the strong zero-shot learner T0 on zero-shot verification. Compared to large PLMs using in-context learning (ICL) method, ProToCo outperforms OPT-30B and the Self-Consistency-enabled OPT-6.7B model in both few- and zero-shot settings.

MindGuard: Towards Accessible and Sitgma-free Mental Health First Aid via Edge LLMSijie Ji, Xinzhe Zheng, Jiawei Sun et al.
Mental health disorders are among the most prevalent diseases worldwide, affecting nearly one in four people. Despite their widespread impact, the intervention rate remains below 25%, largely due to the significant cooperation required from patients for both diagnosis and intervention. The core issue behind this low treatment rate is stigma, which discourages over half of those affected from seeking help. This paper presents MindGuard, an accessible, stigma-free, and professional mobile mental healthcare system designed to provide mental health first aid. The heart of MindGuard is an innovative edge LLM, equipped with professional mental health knowledge, that seamlessly integrates objective mobile sensor data with subjective Ecological Momentary Assessment records to deliver personalized screening and intervention conversations. We conduct a broad evaluation of MindGuard using open datasets spanning four years and real-world deployment across various mobile devices involving 20 subjects for two weeks. Remarkably, MindGuard achieves results comparable to GPT-4 and outperforms its counterpart with more than 10 times the model size. We believe that MindGuard paves the way for mobile LLM applications, potentially revolutionizing mental healthcare practices by substituting self-reporting and intervention conversations with passive, integrated monitoring within daily life, thus ensuring accessible and stigma-free mental health support.

AccelCIM: Systematic Dataflow Exploration for SRAM Compute-in-Memory AcceleratorChenhao Xue, Yukun Wang, An Guo et al.
SRAM-based compute-in-memory (CIM) offers high computational density and energy efficiency for deep neural network (DNN) accelerators, but its limited capacity causes on/off-chip data movement overhead for large DNN models. Existing CIM accelerator studies typically assume that DNN models fit entirely on-chip, leaving efficient dataflow design largely untapped. This paper introduces AccelCIM, a systematic dataflow exploration framework for SRAM CIM accelerator, which addresses two key limitations of prior work. (1) It formulates a systematic dataflow design space spanning CIM macro configurations and macro-array organizations. (2) It introduces rigorous design evaluation using cycle-accurate architectural simulation and post-layout PPA analysis. We conduct an extensive design space exploration and apply AccelCIM to representative LLM applications, providing practical insights for the principled design of CIM accelerators.

AI-assisted research is crossing a threshold: fully automated systems can now generate research papers for as little as $15, while long-horizon agents can execute experiments, draft manuscripts, and simulate critique with minimal human input. Yet this productivity frontier exposes a deeper integrity problem: under scientific pressure, even frontier LLMs still fabricate results, miss hidden errors, and fail to judge novelty reliably. Studying developments through April 2026, we present an end-to-end analysis of AI across the complete research lifecycle, organized into four epistemological phases: Creation (idea generation, literature review, coding & experiments, tables & figures), Writing (paper writing), Validation (peer review, rebuttal & revision), and Dissemination (posters, slides, videos, social media, project pages, and interactive agents). We identify a sharp, stage-dependent boundary between reliable assistance and unreliable autonomy: AI excels at structured, retrieval-grounded, and tool-mediated tasks, but remains fragile for genuinely novel ideas, research-level experiments, and scientific judgment. Generated ideas often degrade after implementation, research code lags far behind pattern-matching benchmarks, and end-to-end autonomous systems have not yet consistently reached major-venue acceptance standards. We further show that greater automation can obscure rather than eliminate failure modes, making human-governed collaboration the most credible deployment paradigm. Finally, we provide a structured taxonomy, benchmark suite, and tool inventory, cross-stage design principles, and a practitioner-oriented playbook, with resources maintained at our project page.

IE-Bench: Advancing the Measurement of Text-Driven Image Editing for Human Perception AlignmentShangkun Sun, Bowen Qu, Xiaoyu Liang et al.
Recent advances in text-driven image editing have been significant, yet the task of accurately evaluating these edited images continues to pose a considerable challenge. Different from the assessment of text-driven image generation, text-driven image editing is characterized by simultaneously conditioning on both text and a source image. The edited images often retain an intrinsic connection to the original image, which dynamically change with the semantics of the text. However, previous methods tend to solely focus on text-image alignment or have not aligned with human perception. In this work, we introduce the Text-driven Image Editing Benchmark suite (IE-Bench) to enhance the assessment of text-driven edited images. IE-Bench includes a database contains diverse source images, various editing prompts and the corresponding results different editing methods, and total 3,010 Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) provided by 25 human subjects. Furthermore, we introduce IE-QA, a multi-modality source-aware quality assessment method for text-driven image editing. To the best of our knowledge, IE-Bench offers the first IQA dataset and model tailored for text-driven image editing. Extensive experiments demonstrate IE-QA's superior subjective-alignments on the text-driven image editing task compared with previous metrics. We will make all related data and code available to the public.
