LLM-Twin: Mini-Giant Model-driven Beyond 5G Digital Twin Networking Framework with Semantic Secure Communication and Computation

Yang Hong, Jun Wu, Rosario Morello

Beyond 5G networks provide solutions for next-generation communications, especially digital twins networks (DTNs) have gained increasing popularity for bridging physical space and digital space. However, current DTNs networking frameworks pose a number of challenges especially when applied in scenarios that require high communication efficiency and multimodal data processing. First, current DTNs frameworks are unavoidable regarding high resource consumption and communication congestion because of original bit-level communication and high-frequency computation, especially distributed learning-based DTNs. Second, current machine learning models for DTNs are domain-specific (e.g. E-health), making it difficult to handle DT scenarios with multimodal data processing requirements. Last but not least, current security schemes for DTNs, such as blockchain, introduce additional overheads that impair the efficiency of DTNs. To address the above challenges, we propose a large language model (LLM) empowered DTNs networking framework, LLM-Twin. First, we design the mini-giant model collaboration scheme to achieve efficient deployment of LLM in DTNs, since LLM are naturally conducive to processing multimodal data. Then, we design a semantic-level high-efficiency, and secure communication model for DTNs. The feasibility of LLM-Twin is demonstrated by numerical experiments and case studies. To our knowledge, this is the first to propose LLM-based semantic-level digital twin networking framework.

A Right Invariant Extended Kalman Filter for Object based SLAM

Yang Song, Zhuqing Zhang, Jun Wu et al.

With the recent advance of deep learning based object recognition and estimation, it is possible to consider object level SLAM where the pose of each object is estimated in the SLAM process. In this paper, based on a novel Lie group structure, a right invariant extended Kalman filter (RI-EKF) for object based SLAM is proposed. The observability analysis shows that the proposed algorithm automatically maintains the correct unobservable subspace, while standard EKF (Std-EKF) based SLAM algorithm does not. This results in a better consistency for the proposed algorithm comparing to Std-EKF. Finally, simulations and real world experiments validate not only the consistency and accuracy of the proposed algorithm, but also the practicability of the proposed RI-EKF for object based SLAM problem. The MATLAB code of the algorithm is made publicly available.

Leveraging AI and Intelligent Reflecting Surface for Energy-Efficient Communication in 6G IoT

Qianqian Pan, Jun Wu, Xi Zheng et al.

The ever-increasing data traffic, various delay-sensitive services, and the massive deployment of energy-limited Internet of Things (IoT) devices have brought huge challenges to the current communication networks, motivating academia and industry to move to the sixth-generation (6G) network. With the powerful capability of data transmission and processing, 6G is considered as an enabler for IoT communication with low latency and energy cost. In this paper, we propose an artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) empowered energy-efficiency communication system for 6G IoT. First, we design a smart and efficient communication architecture including the IRS-aided data transmission and the AI-driven network resource management mechanisms. Second, an energy efficiency-maximizing model under given transmission latency for 6G IoT system is formulated, which jointly optimizes the settings of all communication participants, i.e. IoT transmission power, IRS-reflection phase shift, and BS detection matrix. Third, a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) empowered network resource control and allocation scheme is proposed to solve the formulated optimization model. Based on the network and channel status, the DRL-enabled scheme facilities the energy-efficiency and low-latency communication. Finally, experimental results verified the effectiveness of our proposed communication system for 6G IoT.

An Efficient Encryption Scheme with Verifiable Outsourced Decryption in Mobile Cloud Computing

Jing Li, Zhitao Guan, Xiaojiang Du et al.

With the increasing number of mobile applications and the popularity of cloud computing, the combination of these two techniques that named mobile cloud computing (MCC) attracts great attention in recent years. A promising public key encryption scheme, Attribute-Based Encryption (ABE), especially the Ciphertext Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE), has been used for realizing fine-grained access control on encrypted data stored in MCC. However, the computational overhead of encryption and decryption grow with the complexity of the access policy. Thus, maintaining data security as well as efficiency of data processing in MCC are important and challenging issues. In this paper, we propose an efficient encryption method based on CP-ABE, which can lower the overhead on data owners. To further reduce the decryption overhead on data receivers, we additionally propose a verifiable outsourced decryption scheme. By security analysis and performance evaluation, the proposed scheme is proved to be secure as well as efficient.

Achieving Efficient and Secure Data Acquisition for Cloud-supported Internet of Things in Smart Grid

Zhitao Guan, Jing Li, Longfei Wu et al.

Cloud-supported Internet of Things (Cloud-IoT) has been broadly deployed in smart grid systems. The IoT front-ends are responsible for data acquisition and status supervision, while the substantial amount of data is stored and managed in the cloud server. Achieving data security and system efficiency in the data acquisition and transmission process are of great significance and challenging, because the power grid-related data is sensitive and in huge amount. In this paper, we present an efficient and secure data acquisition scheme based on CP-ABE (Ciphertext Policy Attribute Based Encryption). Data acquired from the terminals will be partitioned into blocks and encrypted with its corresponding access sub-tree in sequence, thereby the data encryption and data transmission can be processed in parallel. Furthermore, we protect the information about the access tree with threshold secret sharing method, which can preserve the data privacy and integrity from users with the unauthorized sets of attributes. The formal analysis demonstrates that the proposed scheme can fulfill the security requirements of the Cloud-supported IoT in smart grid. The numerical analysis and experimental results indicate that our scheme can effectively reduce the time cost compared with other popular approaches.
