Image-Pointcloud Fusion based Anomaly Detection using PD-REAL DatasetJianjian Qin, Chunzhi Gu, Jun Yu et al.
We present PD-REAL, a novel large-scale dataset for unsupervised anomaly detection (AD) in the 3D domain. It is motivated by the fact that 2D-only representations in the AD task may fail to capture the geometric structures of anomalies due to uncertainty in lighting conditions or shooting angles. PD-REAL consists entirely of Play-Doh models for 15 object categories and focuses on the analysis of potential benefits from 3D information in a controlled environment. Specifically, objects are first created with six types of anomalies, such as dent, crack, or perforation, and then photographed under different lighting conditions to mimic real-world inspection scenarios. To demonstrate the usefulness of 3D information, we use a commercially available RealSense camera to capture RGB and depth images. Compared to the existing 3D dataset for AD tasks, the data acquisition of PD-REAL is significantly cheaper, easily scalable and easier to control variables. Extensive evaluations with state-of-the-art AD algorithms on our dataset demonstrate the benefits as well as challenges of using 3D information. Hierarchical Visual Interface for Lecture Video Retrieval and SummarizationJiaohao Weng, Chao Zhang, Xi Yang et al.
With the emergence of large-scale open online courses and online academic conferences, it has become increasingly feasible and convenient to access online educational resources. However, it is time consuming and challenging to effectively retrieve and present numerous lecture videos for common users. In this work, we propose a hierarchical visual interface for retrieving and summarizing lecture videos. Users can utilize the proposed interface to effectively explore the required video information through the results of the video summary generation in different layers. We retrieve the input keywords with the corresponding video layer with timestamps, a frame layer with slides, and the poster layer with summarization of the lecture videos. We verified the proposed interface with our user study by comparing it with other conventional interfaces. The results from our user study confirmed that the proposed interface can achieve high retrieval accuracy and good user experience.see video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrnejwsOVpc .

FrameRank: A Text Processing Approach to Video SummarizationZhuo Lei, Chao Zhang, Qian Zhang et al.
Video summarization has been extensively studied in the past decades. However, user-generated video summarization is much less explored since there lack large-scale video datasets within which human-generated video summaries are unambiguously defined and annotated. Toward this end, we propose a user-generated video summarization dataset - UGSum52 - that consists of 52 videos (207 minutes). In constructing the dataset, because of the subjectivity of user-generated video summarization, we manually annotate 25 summaries for each video, which are in total 1300 summaries. To the best of our knowledge, it is currently the largest dataset for user-generated video summarization. Based on this dataset, we present FrameRank, an unsupervised video summarization method that employs a frame-to-frame level affinity graph to identify coherent and informative frames to summarize a video. We use the Kullback-Leibler(KL)-divergence-based graph to rank temporal segments according to the amount of semantic information contained in their frames. We illustrate the effectiveness of our method by applying it to three datasets SumMe, TVSum and UGSum52 and show it achieves state-of-the-art results.
