CurriFlow: Curriculum-Guided Depth Fusion with Optical Flow-Based Temporal Alignment for 3D Semantic Scene Completion

Jinzhou Lin, Jie Zhou, Wenhao Xu et al.

Semantic Scene Completion (SSC) aims to infer complete 3D geometry and semantics from monocular images, serving as a crucial capability for camera-based perception in autonomous driving. However, existing SSC methods relying on temporal stacking or depth projection often lack explicit motion reasoning and struggle with occlusions and noisy depth supervision. We propose CurriFlow, a novel semantic occupancy prediction framework that integrates optical flow-based temporal alignment with curriculum-guided depth fusion. CurriFlow employs a multi-level fusion strategy to align segmentation, visual, and depth features across frames using pre-trained optical flow, thereby improving temporal consistency and dynamic object understanding. To enhance geometric robustness, a curriculum learning mechanism progressively transitions from sparse yet accurate LiDAR depth to dense but noisy stereo depth during training, ensuring stable optimization and seamless adaptation to real-world deployment. Furthermore, semantic priors from the Segment Anything Model (SAM) provide category-agnostic supervision, strengthening voxel-level semantic learning and spatial consistency. Experiments on the SemanticKITTI benchmark demonstrate that CurriFlow achieves state-of-the-art performance with a mean IoU of 16.9, validating the effectiveness of our motion-guided and curriculum-aware design for camera-based 3D semantic scene completion.

Structured Prediction using cGANs with Fusion Discriminator

Faisal Mahmood, Wenhao Xu, Nicholas J. Durr et al.

We propose the fusion discriminator, a single unified framework for incorporating conditional information into a generative adversarial network (GAN) for a variety of distinct structured prediction tasks, including image synthesis, semantic segmentation, and depth estimation. Much like commonly used convolutional neural network -- conditional Markov random field (CNN-CRF) models, the proposed method is able to enforce higher-order consistency in the model, but without being limited to a very specific class of potentials. The method is conceptually simple and flexible, and our experimental results demonstrate improvement on several diverse structured prediction tasks.

A Fast Algorithm for Cosine Transform Based Tensor Singular Value Decomposition

Wen-Hao Xu, Xi-Le Zhao, Michael Ng

Recently, there has been a lot of research into tensor singular value decomposition (t-SVD) by using discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix. The main aims of this paper are to propose and study tensor singular value decomposition based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) matrix. The advantages of using DCT are that (i) the complex arithmetic is not involved in the cosine transform based tensor singular value decomposition, so the computational cost required can be saved; (ii) the intrinsic reflexive boundary condition along the tubes in the third dimension of tensors is employed, so its performance would be better than that by using the periodic boundary condition in DFT. We demonstrate that the tensor product between two tensors by using DCT can be equivalent to the multiplication between a block Toeplitz-plus-Hankel matrix and a block vector. Numerical examples of low-rank tensor completion are further given to illustrate that the efficiency by using DCT is two times faster than that by using DFT and also the errors of video and multispectral image completion by using DCT are smaller than those by using DFT.
