ScratchR: Sharing User-generated Programmable Media
This addresses the need for an online community platform for creative learners, such as middle-school students, to share and inspire each other with programmable media, though it appears incremental as it builds on existing concepts of user-generated content platforms.
The paper tackles the problem of enabling sharing and community engagement for programmable media by introducing ScratchR, a web platform that supports various participation states from consumption to creation, and it is being evaluated with middle-school students and beta testers.
In this paper, I describe a platform for sharing programmable media on the web called ScratchR. As the backbone of an on-line community of creative learners, ScratchR will give members access to an audience and inspirational ideas from each other. ScratchR seeks to support different states of participation: from passive consumption to active creation. This platform is being evaluated with a group of middle-school students and a larger community of beta testers.
