Marmara Turkish Coreference Corpus and Coreference Resolution Baseline
This work addresses the lack of coreference resolution resources for Turkish, providing a new corpus and baseline for researchers in natural language processing, but it is incremental as it builds on existing treebanks and standard methods.
The authors introduced the Marmara Turkish Coreference Corpus by annotating the METU-Sabanci Turkish Treebank with mentions and coreference chains, using independent annotations for automatic adjudication, and provided a baseline system for Turkish mention detection and coreference resolution, evaluating it on the corpus.
We describe the Marmara Turkish Coreference Corpus, which is an annotation of the whole METU-Sabanci Turkish Treebank with mentions and coreference chains. Collecting eight or more independent annotations for each document allowed for fully automatic adjudication. We provide a baseline system for Turkish mention detection and coreference resolution and evaluate it on the corpus.
