Results of the Survey: Failures in Robotics and Intelligent Systems
This work addresses the problem of understanding and mitigating failures in robotics for researchers, but it is incremental as it primarily reports survey results without introducing new methods or broad solutions.
The authors conducted an online survey in 2015 to investigate types, origins, monitoring, and debugging of failures in robotics and intelligent systems, focusing on performance bugs, and summarized the findings without reporting specific numerical results.
In January 2015 we distributed an online survey about failures in robotics and intelligent systems across robotics researchers. The aim of this survey was to find out which types of failures currently exist, what their origins are, and how systems are monitored and debugged - with a special focus on performance bugs. This report summarizes the findings of the survey.
