Explainability and the Fourth AI Revolution
This work tackles the problem of human-AI collaboration for researchers and practitioners, but it is incremental as it builds on existing discussions of explainability.
The chapter addresses the need for explainability in AI to transition from systems where humans annotate data to those where humans collaborate with AI, highlighting its role in advancing to the next generation of AI.
This chapter discusses AI from the prism of an automated process for the organization of data, and exemplifies the role that explainability has to play in moving from the current generation of AI systems to the next one, where the role of humans is lifted from that of data annotators working for the AI systems to that of collaborators working with the AI systems.
