Theoretical Analysis of an XGBoost Framework for Product Cannibalization
This work addresses the problem of sales forecasting under product cannibalization for businesses, but it appears incremental as it focuses on theoretical justification of an existing method.
The authors extended their previous work on a three-stage XGBoost algorithm for forecasting sales in product cannibalization scenarios by providing mathematical reasoning behind its operation, though no new empirical results or performance metrics were reported.
This paper is an extension of our work where we presented a three-stage XGBoost algorithm for forecasting sales under product cannibalization scenario. Previously we developed the model based on our intuition and provided empirical evidence on its performance. In this study we would briefly go over the algorithm and then provide mathematical reasoning behind its working.
