Enhancing BiGRU with a KAN Block for Legal Document Classification and Summarization

Ahmed Faizul Haque Dhrubo, Souvik Pramanik, Most. Aysha Siddika Sumona et al.

This study introduces a novel architecture of KAN-based BiGRU model for the task of classification and summarization of legal documents in a low-resource multilingual setup. In order to tackle problems associated with domain language, the usage of different languages, long dependencies within context, and class imbalance, we employ the dataset composed of legal documents from Bangladesh and taken from Manupatra, which include Bengali, English, and transliterated Bengali languages. Our classification task involves BiGRU model, along with Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (KAN) module, while the summarization part utilizes attention-based GRU, combined with a KAN model head. Classification model yields 67.96% of accuracy and 0.65 F1 score; while ROUGE-1, ROUGE-2, and ROUGE-L measures for summarization yield 0.38, 0.23, and 0.31 F1 scores, correspondingly. Ablation study shows that the use of KAN increases classification accuracy from 57.34% to 67.96%. Moreover, our proposed technique is compared to several baselines, including classical ML algorithms and pretrained language models.

STM32-Based Smart Waste Bin for Hygienic Disposal Using Embedded Sensing and Automated Control

Mohammed Aman Bhuiyan, Aritra Islam Saswato, Md. Misbah Khan et al.

The increasing demand for hygienic and contactless solutions in public and private environments has encouraged the development of automated systems for everyday applications. This paper presents the design and implementation of a motion- sensing automatic waste bin using an STM32 microcontroller, ultrasonic sensors, and a servo motor. The system detects user presence through ultrasonic sensing and automatically opens the bin lid using a servo motor controlled by the microcontroller. An additional ultrasonic sensor is used to monitor the internal waste level of the bin, while an OLED display provides real- time feedback regarding system status. The proposed system offers a low-cost, reliable, and easily deployable solution for touch-free waste disposal. Experimental evaluation demonstrates fast response time, stable sensing performance, and smooth mechanical operation. The system can be effectively deployed in homes, educational institutions, hospitals, and public facilities to improve hygiene and user convenience.

Dynamic Sensitivity Filter Pruning using Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning For DCNN's

Iftekhar Haider Chowdhury, Zaed Ikbal Syed, Ahmed Faizul Haque Dhrubo et al.

Deep Convolutional Neural Networks have achieved state of the art performance across various computer vision tasks, however their practical deployment is limited by computational and memory overhead. This paper introduces Differential Sensitivity Fusion Pruning, a novel single shot filter pruning framework that focuses on evaluating the stability and redundancy of filter importance scores across multiple criteria. Differential Sensitivity Fusion Pruning computes a differential sensitivity score for each filter by fusing the discrepancies among gradient based sensitivity, first order Taylor expansion, and KL divergence of activation distributions. An exponential scaling mechanism is applied to emphasize filters with inconsistent importance across metrics, identifying candidates that are structurally unstable or less critical to the model performance. Unlike iterative or reinforcement learning based pruning strategies, Differential Sensitivity Fusion Pruning is efficient and deterministic, requiring only a single forward-backward pass for scoring and pruning. Extensive experiments across varying pruning rates between 50 to 70 percent demonstrate that Differential Sensitivity Fusion Pruning significantly reduces model complexity, achieving over 80 percent Floating point Operations Per Seconds reduction while maintaining high accuracy. For instance, at 70 percent pruning, our approach retains up to 98.23 percent of baseline accuracy, surpassing traditional heuristics in both compression and generalization. The proposed method presents an effective solution for scalable and adaptive Deep Convolutional Neural Networks compression, paving the way for efficient deployment on edge and mobile platforms.

Deep Learning-Driven Multimodal Detection and Movement Analysis of Objects in Culinary

Tahoshin Alam Ishat, Mohammad Abdul Qayum

This is a research exploring existing models and fine tuning them to combine a YOLOv8 segmentation model, a LSTM model trained on hand point motion sequence and a ASR (whisper-base) to extract enough data for a LLM (TinyLLaMa) to predict the recipe and generate text creating a step by step guide for the cooking procedure. All the data were gathered by the author for a robust task specific system to perform best in complex and challenging environments proving the extension and endless application of computer vision in daily activities such as kitchen work. This work extends the field for many more crucial task of our day to day life.
