BAGEN: Are LLM Agents Budget-Aware?

While agents are increasingly spending more resources, today agent cost is mostly measured only after execution. A Budget-Aware Agent (BAGEN) should treat budget as an active control signal, rather than a passive cost metric. We first systematically define budget estimation as internal budgets (from agent computation) and external budgets (from agent actions). We then formalize budget-awareness as progressive interval estimation: at each step of a plan, an agent should predict an upper and lower bound on remaining budget, and alert when completion is unlikely. Scoring with a rollout-replay protocol, we find consistent failure patterns on four environments and five frontier agents: (1) strong agents do not necessarily have strong budget-awareness, with correlation r=0.35. (2) frontier models are consistently over-optimistic, continue spending on tasks that are unlikely to succeed, instead of alerting the user early. (3) budget-aware signal is actionable and trainable. Early stop saves 28-64% tokens on failed trajectories, and SFT+RL strengthens early stop and alert behavior. Optimus: Elastic Decoding for Efficient Diffusion LLM Serving

Large language model (LLM) serving is fundamentally limited by inefficient hardware utilization. Autoregressive (AR) decoding underutilizes GPUs due to its strictly sequential execution, while diffusion LLMs (DLLMs) improve throughput by decoding multiple tokens per iteration. However, fixed block-size diffusion decoding exhibits strong load sensitivity: large blocks exploit idle GPU resources under low load, but saturate early and incur substantial redundant computation under high load. As a result, throughput gains vanish beyond saturation, and no single decoding granularity performs well across dynamic serving workloads. We present Optimus, a serving system that enables elastic decoding for diffusion LLMs by dynamically adapting decoding granularity to runtime load. The key idea is to treat decoding granularity as a runtime control variable, balancing GPU utilization and token efficiency. Optimus combines chunked decoding, which enables fine-grained execution without retraining, with saturation-aware scheduling, a closed-loop mechanism that selects chunk sizes based on runtime conditions. Together with system-level optimizations and customized attention kernels, Optimus achieves significant performance improvements while preserving model accuracy. Experiments show that Optimus delivers up to 6.1x throughput improvement over AR decoding and 4.3x improvement over fixed-block diffusion LLM, while maintaining stable performance across diverse load regimes and improving end-to-end serving capacity under latency constraints. FlashFPS: Efficient Farthest Point Sampling for Large-Scale Point Clouds via Pruning and Caching

Point-based Neural Networks (PNNs) have become a key approach for point cloud processing. However, a core operation in these models, Farthest Point Sampling (FPS), often introduces significant inference latency, especially for large-scale processing. Despite existing CUDA- and hardware-level optimizations, FPS remains a major bottleneck due to exhaustive computations across multiple network layers in PNNs, which hinders scalability. Through systematic analysis, we identify three substantial redundancies in FPS, including unnecessary full-cloud computations, redundant late-stage iterations, and predictable inter-layer outputs that make later FPS computations avoidable. To address these, we propose \textbf{\textit{FlashFPS}}, a hardware-agnostic, plug-and-play framework for FPS acceleration, composed of \textit{FPS-Prune} and \textit{FPS-Cache}. \textit{FPS-Prune} introduces candidate pruning and iteration pruning to reduce redundant computations in FPS while preserving sampling quality, and \textit{FPS-Cache} eliminates layer-wise redundancy via cache-and-reuse. Integrated into existing CUDA libraries and state-of-the-art PNN accelerators, \textit{FlashFPS} achieves 5.16$\times$ speedup over the standard CUDA baseline on GPU and 2.69$\times$ on PNN accelerators, with negligible accuracy loss, enabling efficient and scalable PNN inference. AutoEDA: Enabling EDA Flow Automation through Microservice-Based LLM Agents

Modern Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workflows, especially the RTL-to-GDSII flow, require heavily manual scripting and demonstrate a multitude of tool-specific interactions which limits scalability and efficiency. While LLMs introduces strides for automation, existing LLM solutions require expensive fine-tuning and do not contain standardized frameworks for integration and evaluation. We introduce AutoEDA, a framework for EDA automation that leverages paralleled learning through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) specific for standardized and scalable natural language experience across the entire RTL-to-GDSII flow. AutoEDA limits fine-tuning through structured prompt engineering, implements intelligent parameter extraction and task decomposition, and provides an extended CodeBLEU metric to evaluate the quality of TCL scripts. Results from experiments over five previously curated benchmarks show improvements in automation accuracy and efficiency, as well as script quality when compared to existing methods. The Practicality of Normalizing Flow Test-Time Training in Bayesian Inference for Agent-Based Models

Agent-Based Models (ABMs) are gaining great popularity in economics and social science because of their strong flexibility to describe the realistic and heterogeneous decisions and interaction rules between individual agents. In this work, we investigate for the first time the practicality of test-time training (TTT) of deep models such as normalizing flows, in the parameters posterior estimations of ABMs. We propose several practical TTT strategies for fine-tuning the normalizing flow against distribution shifts. Our numerical study demonstrates that TTT schemes are remarkably effective, enabling real-time adjustment of flow-based inference for ABM parameters.

Improving Routability Prediction via NAS Using a Smooth One-shot Augmented Predictor

Routability optimization in modern EDA tools has benefited greatly from using machine learning (ML) models. Constructing and optimizing the performance of ML models continues to be a challenge. Neural Architecture Search (NAS) serves as a tool to aid in the construction and improvement of these models. Traditional NAS techniques struggle to perform well on routability prediction as a result of two primary factors. First, the separation between the training objective and the search objective adds noise to the NAS process. Secondly, the increased variance of the search objective further complicates performing NAS. We craft a novel NAS technique, coined SOAP-NAS, to address these challenges through novel data augmentation techniques and a novel combination of one-shot and predictor-based NAS. Results show that our technique outperforms existing solutions by 40% closer to the ideal performance measured by ROC-AUC (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve) in DRC hotspot detection. SOAPNet is able to achieve an ROC-AUC of 0.9802 and a query time of only 0.461 ms.

Trust-aware Control for Intelligent Transportation Systems

Many intelligent transportation systems are multi-agent systems, i.e., both the traffic participants and the subsystems within the transportation infrastructure can be modeled as interacting agents. The use of AI-based methods to achieve coordination among the different agents systems can provide greater safety over transportation systems containing only human-operated vehicles, and also improve the system efficiency in terms of traffic throughput, sensing range, and enabling collaborative tasks. However, increased autonomy makes the transportation infrastructure vulnerable to compromised vehicular agents or infrastructure. This paper proposes a new framework by embedding the trust authority into transportation infrastructure to systematically quantify the trustworthiness of agents using an epistemic logic known as subjective logic. In this paper, we make the following novel contributions: (i) We propose a framework for using the quantified trustworthiness of agents to enable trust-aware coordination and control. (ii) We demonstrate how to synthesize trust-aware controllers using an approach based on reinforcement learning. (iii) We comprehensively analyze an autonomous intersection management (AIM) case study and develop a trust-aware version called AIM-Trust that leads to lower accident rates in scenarios consisting of a mixture of trusted and untrusted agents.
