GaitMM: Multi-Granularity Motion Sequence Learning for Gait Recognition

Lei Wang, Bo Liu, Bincheng Wang et al.

Gait recognition aims to identify individual-specific walking patterns by observing the different periodic movements of each body part. However, most existing methods treat each part equally and fail to account for the data redundancy caused by the different step frequencies and sampling rates of gait sequences. In this study, we propose a multi-granularity motion representation network (GaitMM) for gait sequence learning. In GaitMM, we design a combined full-body and fine-grained sequence learning module (FFSL) to explore part-independent spatio-temporal representations. Moreover, we utilize a frame-wise compression strategy, referred to as multi-scale motion aggregation (MSMA), to capture discriminative information in the gait sequence. Experiments on two public datasets, CASIA-B and OUMVLP, show that our approach reaches state-of-the-art performances.

Practical Applications of Advanced Cloud Services and Generative AI Systems in Medical Image Analysis

Jingyu Xu, Binbin Wu, Jiaxin Huang et al.

The medical field is one of the important fields in the application of artificial intelligence technology. With the explosive growth and diversification of medical data, as well as the continuous improvement of medical needs and challenges, artificial intelligence technology is playing an increasingly important role in the medical field. Artificial intelligence technologies represented by computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning have been widely penetrated into diverse scenarios such as medical imaging, health management, medical information, and drug research and development, and have become an important driving force for improving the level and quality of medical services. The article explores the transformative potential of generative AI in medical imaging, emphasizing its ability to generate syntheticACM-2 data, enhance images, aid in anomaly detection, and facilitate image-to-image translation. Despite challenges like model complexity, the applications of generative models in healthcare, including Med-PaLM 2 technology, show promising results. By addressing limitations in dataset size and diversity, these models contribute to more accurate diagnoses and improved patient outcomes. However, ethical considerations and collaboration among stakeholders are essential for responsible implementation. Through experiments leveraging GANs to augment brain tumor MRI datasets, the study demonstrates how generative AI can enhance image quality and diversity, ultimately advancing medical diagnostics and patient care.

Data-Free Model-Related Attacks: Unleashing the Potential of Generative AI

Dayong Ye, Tianqing Zhu, Shang Wang et al.

Generative AI technology has become increasingly integrated into our daily lives, offering powerful capabilities to enhance productivity. However, these same capabilities can be exploited by adversaries for malicious purposes. While existing research on adversarial applications of generative AI predominantly focuses on cyberattacks, less attention has been given to attacks targeting deep learning models. In this paper, we introduce the use of generative AI for facilitating model-related attacks, including model extraction, membership inference, and model inversion. Our study reveals that adversaries can launch a variety of model-related attacks against both image and text models in a data-free and black-box manner, achieving comparable performance to baseline methods that have access to the target models' training data and parameters in a white-box manner. This research serves as an important early warning to the community about the potential risks associated with generative AI-powered attacks on deep learning models.

Adaptive Graph Convolutional Network with Attention Graph Clustering for Co-saliency Detection

Kaihua Zhang, Tengpeng Li, Shiwen Shen et al.

Co-saliency detection aims to discover the common and salient foregrounds from a group of relevant images. For this task, we present a novel adaptive graph convolutional network with attention graph clustering (GCAGC). Three major contributions have been made, and are experimentally shown to have substantial practical merits. First, we propose a graph convolutional network design to extract information cues to characterize the intra- and interimage correspondence. Second, we develop an attention graph clustering algorithm to discriminate the common objects from all the salient foreground objects in an unsupervised fashion. Third, we present a unified framework with encoder-decoder structure to jointly train and optimize the graph convolutional network, attention graph cluster, and co-saliency detection decoder in an end-to-end manner. We evaluate our proposed GCAGC method on three cosaliency detection benchmark datasets (iCoseg, Cosal2015 and COCO-SEG). Our GCAGC method obtains significant improvements over the state-of-the-arts on most of them.

Video Saliency Prediction Using Enhanced Spatiotemporal Alignment Network

Jin Chen, Huihui Song, Kaihua Zhang et al.

Due to a variety of motions across different frames, it is highly challenging to learn an effective spatiotemporal representation for accurate video saliency prediction (VSP). To address this issue, we develop an effective spatiotemporal feature alignment network tailored to VSP, mainly including two key sub-networks: a multi-scale deformable convolutional alignment network (MDAN) and a bidirectional convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-ConvLSTM) network. The MDAN learns to align the features of the neighboring frames to the reference one in a coarse-to-fine manner, which can well handle various motions. Specifically, the MDAN owns a pyramidal feature hierarchy structure that first leverages deformable convolution (Dconv) to align the lower-resolution features across frames, and then aggregates the aligned features to align the higher-resolution features, progressively enhancing the features from top to bottom. The output of MDAN is then fed into the Bi-ConvLSTM for further enhancement, which captures the useful long-time temporal information along forward and backward timing directions to effectively guide attention orientation shift prediction under complex scene transformation. Finally, the enhanced features are decoded to generate the predicted saliency map. The proposed model is trained end-to-end without any intricate post processing. Extensive evaluations on four VSP benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method achieves favorable performance against state-of-the-art methods. The source codes and all the results will be released.
