Zero-Shot Video Editing Using Off-The-Shelf Image Diffusion Models

Wen Wang, Yan Jiang, Kangyang Xie et al.

Large-scale text-to-image diffusion models achieve unprecedented success in image generation and editing. However, how to extend such success to video editing is unclear. Recent initial attempts at video editing require significant text-to-video data and computation resources for training, which is often not accessible. In this work, we propose vid2vid-zero, a simple yet effective method for zero-shot video editing. Our vid2vid-zero leverages off-the-shelf image diffusion models, and doesn't require training on any video. At the core of our method is a null-text inversion module for text-to-video alignment, a cross-frame modeling module for temporal consistency, and a spatial regularization module for fidelity to the original video. Without any training, we leverage the dynamic nature of the attention mechanism to enable bi-directional temporal modeling at test time. Experiments and analyses show promising results in editing attributes, subjects, places, etc., in real-world videos. Code is made available at \url{https://github.com/baaivision/vid2vid-zero}.

TGRMPT: A Head-Shoulder Aided Multi-Person Tracker and a New Large-Scale Dataset for Tour-Guide Robot

Wen Wang, Shunda Hu, Shiqiang Zhu et al.

A service robot serving safely and politely needs to track the surrounding people robustly, especially for Tour-Guide Robot (TGR). However, existing multi-object tracking (MOT) or multi-person tracking (MPT) methods are not applicable to TGR for the following reasons: 1. lacking relevant large-scale datasets; 2. lacking applicable metrics to evaluate trackers. In this work, we target the visual perceptual tasks for TGR and present the TGRDB dataset, a novel large-scale multi-person tracking dataset containing roughly 5.6 hours of annotated videos and over 450 long-term trajectories. Besides, we propose a more applicable metric to evaluate trackers using our dataset. As part of our work, we present TGRMPT, a novel MPT system that incorporates information from head shoulder and whole body, and achieves state-of-the-art performance. We have released our codes and dataset in https://github.com/wenwenzju/TGRMPT.

AutoStory: Generating Diverse Storytelling Images with Minimal Human Effort

Wen Wang, Canyu Zhao, Hao Chen et al.

Story visualization aims to generate a series of images that match the story described in texts, and it requires the generated images to satisfy high quality, alignment with the text description, and consistency in character identities. Given the complexity of story visualization, existing methods drastically simplify the problem by considering only a few specific characters and scenarios, or requiring the users to provide per-image control conditions such as sketches. However, these simplifications render these methods incompetent for real applications. To this end, we propose an automated story visualization system that can effectively generate diverse, high-quality, and consistent sets of story images, with minimal human interactions. Specifically, we utilize the comprehension and planning capabilities of large language models for layout planning, and then leverage large-scale text-to-image models to generate sophisticated story images based on the layout. We empirically find that sparse control conditions, such as bounding boxes, are suitable for layout planning, while dense control conditions, e.g., sketches and keypoints, are suitable for generating high-quality image content. To obtain the best of both worlds, we devise a dense condition generation module to transform simple bounding box layouts into sketch or keypoint control conditions for final image generation, which not only improves the image quality but also allows easy and intuitive user interactions. In addition, we propose a simple yet effective method to generate multi-view consistent character images, eliminating the reliance on human labor to collect or draw character images.

Aligning Knowledge Graph with Visual Perception for Object-goal Navigation

Nuo Xu, Wen Wang, Rong Yang et al.

Object-goal navigation is a challenging task that requires guiding an agent to specific objects based on first-person visual observations. The ability of agent to comprehend its surroundings plays a crucial role in achieving successful object finding. However, existing knowledge-graph-based navigators often rely on discrete categorical one-hot vectors and vote counting strategy to construct graph representation of the scenes, which results in misalignment with visual images. To provide more accurate and coherent scene descriptions and address this misalignment issue, we propose the Aligning Knowledge Graph with Visual Perception (AKGVP) method for object-goal navigation. Technically, our approach introduces continuous modeling of the hierarchical scene architecture and leverages visual-language pre-training to align natural language description with visual perception. The integration of a continuous knowledge graph architecture and multimodal feature alignment empowers the navigator with a remarkable zero-shot navigation capability. We extensively evaluate our method using the AI2-THOR simulator and conduct a series of experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our navigator. AniDoc: Animation Creation Made Easier

Yihao Meng, Hao Ouyang, Hanlin Wang et al.

The production of 2D animation follows an industry-standard workflow, encompassing four essential stages: character design, keyframe animation, in-betweening, and coloring. Our research focuses on reducing the labor costs in the above process by harnessing the potential of increasingly powerful generative AI. Using video diffusion models as the foundation, AniDoc emerges as a video line art colorization tool, which automatically converts sketch sequences into colored animations following the reference character specification. Our model exploits correspondence matching as an explicit guidance, yielding strong robustness to the variations (e.g., posture) between the reference character and each line art frame. In addition, our model could even automate the in-betweening process, such that users can easily create a temporally consistent animation by simply providing a character image as well as the start and end sketches. Our code is available at: https://yihao-meng.github.io/AniDoc_demo.

HoloCine: Holistic Generation of Cinematic Multi-Shot Long Video Narratives

Yihao Meng, Hao Ouyang, Yue Yu et al.

State-of-the-art text-to-video models excel at generating isolated clips but fall short of creating the coherent, multi-shot narratives, which are the essence of storytelling. We bridge this "narrative gap" with HoloCine, a model that generates entire scenes holistically to ensure global consistency from the first shot to the last. Our architecture achieves precise directorial control through a Window Cross-Attention mechanism that localizes text prompts to specific shots, while a Sparse Inter-Shot Self-Attention pattern (dense within shots but sparse between them) ensures the efficiency required for minute-scale generation. Beyond setting a new state-of-the-art in narrative coherence, HoloCine develops remarkable emergent abilities: a persistent memory for characters and scenes, and an intuitive grasp of cinematic techniques. Our work marks a pivotal shift from clip synthesis towards automated filmmaking, making end-to-end cinematic creation a tangible future. Our code is available at: https://holo-cine.github.io/.

Framer: Interactive Frame Interpolation

Wen Wang, Qiuyu Wang, Kecheng Zheng et al.

We propose Framer for interactive frame interpolation, which targets producing smoothly transitioning frames between two images as per user creativity. Concretely, besides taking the start and end frames as inputs, our approach supports customizing the transition process by tailoring the trajectory of some selected keypoints. Such a design enjoys two clear benefits. First, incorporating human interaction mitigates the issue arising from numerous possibilities of transforming one image to another, and in turn enables finer control of local motions. Second, as the most basic form of interaction, keypoints help establish the correspondence across frames, enhancing the model to handle challenging cases (e.g., objects on the start and end frames are of different shapes and styles). It is noteworthy that our system also offers an "autopilot" mode, where we introduce a module to estimate the keypoints and refine the trajectory automatically, to simplify the usage in practice. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the appealing performance of Framer on various applications, such as image morphing, time-lapse video generation, cartoon interpolation, etc. The code, the model, and the interface will be released to facilitate further research.

GenDeF: Learning Generative Deformation Field for Video Generation

Wen Wang, Kecheng Zheng, Qiuyu Wang et al.

We offer a new perspective on approaching the task of video generation. Instead of directly synthesizing a sequence of frames, we propose to render a video by warping one static image with a generative deformation field (GenDeF). Such a pipeline enjoys three appealing advantages. First, we can sufficiently reuse a well-trained image generator to synthesize the static image (also called canonical image), alleviating the difficulty in producing a video and thereby resulting in better visual quality. Second, we can easily convert a deformation field to optical flows, making it possible to apply explicit structural regularizations for motion modeling, leading to temporally consistent results. Third, the disentanglement between content and motion allows users to process a synthesized video through processing its corresponding static image without any tuning, facilitating many applications like video editing, keypoint tracking, and video segmentation. Both qualitative and quantitative results on three common video generation benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of our GenDeF method.

Attention: A Big Surprise for Cross-Domain Person Re-Identification

Haijun Liu, Jian Cheng, Shiguang Wang et al.

In this paper, we focus on model generalization and adaptation for cross-domain person re-identification (Re-ID). Unlike existing cross-domain Re-ID methods, leveraging the auxiliary information of those unlabeled target-domain data, we aim at enhancing the model generalization and adaptation by discriminative feature learning, and directly exploiting a pre-trained model to new domains (datasets) without any utilization of the information from target domains. To address the discriminative feature learning problem, we surprisingly find that simply introducing the attention mechanism to adaptively extract the person features for every domain is of great effectiveness. We adopt two popular type of attention mechanisms, long-range dependency based attention and direct generation based attention. Both of them can perform the attention via spatial or channel dimensions alone, even the combination of spatial and channel dimensions. The outline of different attentions are well illustrated. Moreover, we also incorporate the attention results into the final output of model through skip-connection to improve the features with both high and middle level semantic visual information. In the manner of directly exploiting a pre-trained model to new domains, the attention incorporation method truly could enhance the model generalization and adaptation to perform the cross-domain person Re-ID. We conduct extensive experiments between three large datasets, Market-1501, DukeMTMC-reID and MSMT17. Surprisingly, introducing only attention can achieve state-of-the-art performance, even much better than those cross-domain Re-ID methods utilizing auxiliary information from the target domain.
