AGConv: Adaptive Graph Convolution on 3D Point CloudsMingqiang Wei, Zeyong Wei, Haoran Zhou et al.
Convolution on 3D point clouds is widely researched yet far from perfect in geometric deep learning. The traditional wisdom of convolution characterises feature correspondences indistinguishably among 3D points, arising an intrinsic limitation of poor distinctive feature learning. In this paper, we propose Adaptive Graph Convolution (AGConv) for wide applications of point cloud analysis. AGConv generates adaptive kernels for points according to their dynamically learned features. Compared with the solution of using fixed/isotropic kernels, AGConv improves the flexibility of point cloud convolutions, effectively and precisely capturing the diverse relations between points from different semantic parts. Unlike the popular attentional weight schemes, AGConv implements the adaptiveness inside the convolution operation instead of simply assigning different weights to the neighboring points. Extensive evaluations clearly show that our method outperforms state-of-the-arts of point cloud classification and segmentation on various benchmark datasets.Meanwhile, AGConv can flexibly serve more point cloud analysis approaches to boost their performance. To validate its flexibility and effectiveness, we explore AGConv-based paradigms of completion, denoising, upsampling, registration and circle extraction, which are comparable or even superior to their competitors. GeoSegNet: Point Cloud Semantic Segmentation via Geometric Encoder-Decoder ModelingChen Chen, Yisen Wang, Honghua Chen et al.
Semantic segmentation of point clouds, aiming to assign each point a semantic category, is critical to 3D scene understanding.Despite of significant advances in recent years, most of existing methods still suffer from either the object-level misclassification or the boundary-level ambiguity. In this paper, we present a robust semantic segmentation network by deeply exploring the geometry of point clouds, dubbed GeoSegNet. Our GeoSegNet consists of a multi-geometry based encoder and a boundary-guided decoder. In the encoder, we develop a new residual geometry module from multi-geometry perspectives to extract object-level features. In the decoder, we introduce a contrastive boundary learning module to enhance the geometric representation of boundary points. Benefiting from the geometric encoder-decoder modeling, our GeoSegNet can infer the segmentation of objects effectively while making the intersections (boundaries) of two or more objects clear. Experiments show obvious improvements of our method over its competitors in terms of the overall segmentation accuracy and object boundary clearness. Joint Depth Estimation and Mixture of Rain Removal From a Single ImageYongzhen Wang, Xuefeng Yan, Yanbiao Niu et al.
Rainy weather significantly deteriorates the visibility of scene objects, particularly when images are captured through outdoor camera lenses or windshields. Through careful observation of numerous rainy photos, we have found that the images are generally affected by various rainwater artifacts such as raindrops, rain streaks, and rainy haze, which impact the image quality from both near and far distances, resulting in a complex and intertwined process of image degradation. However, current deraining techniques are limited in their ability to address only one or two types of rainwater, which poses a challenge in removing the mixture of rain (MOR). In this study, we propose an effective image deraining paradigm for Mixture of rain REmoval, called DEMore-Net, which takes full account of the MOR effect. Going beyond the existing deraining wisdom, DEMore-Net is a joint learning paradigm that integrates depth estimation and MOR removal tasks to achieve superior rain removal. The depth information can offer additional meaningful guidance information based on distance, thus better helping DEMore-Net remove different types of rainwater. Moreover, this study explores normalization approaches in image deraining tasks and introduces a new Hybrid Normalization Block (HNB) to enhance the deraining performance of DEMore-Net. Extensive experiments conducted on synthetic datasets and real-world MOR photos fully validate the superiority of the proposed DEMore-Net. Code is available at https://github.com/yz-wang/DEMore-Net.

UTOPIC: Uncertainty-aware Overlap Prediction Network for Partial Point Cloud RegistrationZhilei Chen, Honghua Chen, Lina Gong et al.
High-confidence overlap prediction and accurate correspondences are critical for cutting-edge models to align paired point clouds in a partial-to-partial manner. However, there inherently exists uncertainty between the overlapping and non-overlapping regions, which has always been neglected and significantly affects the registration performance. Beyond the current wisdom, we propose a novel uncertainty-aware overlap prediction network, dubbed UTOPIC, to tackle the ambiguous overlap prediction problem; to our knowledge, this is the first to explicitly introduce overlap uncertainty to point cloud registration. Moreover, we induce the feature extractor to implicitly perceive the shape knowledge through a completion decoder, and present a geometric relation embedding for Transformer to obtain transformation-invariant geometry-aware feature representations. With the merits of more reliable overlap scores and more precise dense correspondences, UTOPIC can achieve stable and accurate registration results, even for the inputs with limited overlapping areas. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments on synthetic and real benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of our approach over state-of-the-art methods.

Completing Partial Point Clouds with Outliers by Collaborative Completion and SegmentationChangfeng Ma, Yang Yang, Jie Guo et al.
Most existing point cloud completion methods are only applicable to partial point clouds without any noises and outliers, which does not always hold in practice. We propose in this paper an end-to-end network, named CS-Net, to complete the point clouds contaminated by noises or containing outliers. In our CS-Net, the completion and segmentation modules work collaboratively to promote each other, benefited from our specifically designed cascaded structure. With the help of segmentation, more clean point cloud is fed into the completion module. We design a novel completion decoder which harnesses the labels obtained by segmentation together with FPS to purify the point cloud and leverages KNN-grouping for better generation. The completion and segmentation modules work alternately share the useful information from each other to gradually improve the quality of prediction. To train our network, we build a dataset to simulate the real case where incomplete point clouds contain outliers. Our comprehensive experiments and comparisons against state-of-the-art completion methods demonstrate our superiority. We also compare with the scheme of segmentation followed by completion and their end-to-end fusion, which also proves our efficacy.

Local-to-Global Panorama Inpainting for Locale-Aware Indoor Lighting PredictionJiayang Bai, Zhen He, Shan Yang et al.
Predicting panoramic indoor lighting from a single perspective image is a fundamental but highly ill-posed problem in computer vision and graphics. To achieve locale-aware and robust prediction, this problem can be decomposed into three sub-tasks: depth-based image warping, panorama inpainting and high-dynamic-range (HDR) reconstruction, among which the success of panorama inpainting plays a key role. Recent methods mostly rely on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to fill the missing contents in the warped panorama. However, they usually achieve suboptimal performance since the missing contents occupy a very large portion in the panoramic space while CNNs are plagued by limited receptive fields. The spatially-varying distortion in the spherical signals further increases the difficulty for conventional CNNs. To address these issues, we propose a local-to-global strategy for large-scale panorama inpainting. In our method, a depth-guided local inpainting is first applied on the warped panorama to fill small but dense holes. Then, a transformer-based network, dubbed PanoTransformer, is designed to hallucinate reasonable global structures in the large holes. To avoid distortion, we further employ cubemap projection in our design of PanoTransformer. The high-quality panorama recovered at any locale helps us to capture spatially-varying indoor illumination with physically-plausible global structures and fine details.

Self-NeRF: A Self-Training Pipeline for Few-Shot Neural Radiance FieldsJiayang Bai, Letian Huang, Wen Gong et al.
Recently, Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) have emerged as a potent method for synthesizing novel views from a dense set of images. Despite its impressive performance, NeRF is plagued by its necessity for numerous calibrated views and its accuracy diminishes significantly in a few-shot setting. To address this challenge, we propose Self-NeRF, a self-evolved NeRF that iteratively refines the radiance fields with very few number of input views, without incorporating additional priors. Basically, we train our model under the supervision of reference and unseen views simultaneously in an iterative procedure. In each iteration, we label unseen views with the predicted colors or warped pixels generated by the model from the preceding iteration. However, these expanded pseudo-views are afflicted by imprecision in color and warping artifacts, which degrades the performance of NeRF. To alleviate this issue, we construct an uncertainty-aware NeRF with specialized embeddings. Some techniques such as cone entropy regularization are further utilized to leverage the pseudo-views in the most efficient manner. Through experiments under various settings, we verified that our Self-NeRF is robust to input with uncertainty and surpasses existing methods when trained on limited training data.

Deep Point Cloud Simplification for High-quality Surface ReconstructionYuanqi Li, Jianwei Guo, Xinran Yang et al.
The growing size of point clouds enlarges consumptions of storage, transmission, and computation of 3D scenes. Raw data is redundant, noisy, and non-uniform. Therefore, simplifying point clouds for achieving compact, clean, and uniform points is becoming increasingly important for 3D vision and graphics tasks. Previous learning based methods aim to generate fewer points for scene understanding, regardless of the quality of surface reconstruction, leading to results with low reconstruction accuracy and bad point distribution. In this paper, we propose a novel point cloud simplification network (PCS-Net) dedicated to high-quality surface mesh reconstruction while maintaining geometric fidelity. We first learn a sampling matrix in a feature-aware simplification module to reduce the number of points. Then we propose a novel double-scale resampling module to refine the positions of the sampled points, to achieve a uniform distribution. To further retain important shape features, an adaptive sampling strategy with a novel saliency loss is designed. With our PCS-Net, the input non-uniform and noisy point cloud can be simplified in a feature-aware manner, i.e., points near salient features are consolidated but still with uniform distribution locally. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and show that we outperform previous simplification or reconstruction-oriented upsampling methods.

FINER++: Building a Family of Variable-periodic Functions for Activating Implicit Neural RepresentationHao Zhu, Zhen Liu, Qi Zhang et al.
Implicit Neural Representation (INR), which utilizes a neural network to map coordinate inputs to corresponding attributes, is causing a revolution in the field of signal processing. However, current INR techniques suffer from the "frequency"-specified spectral bias and capacity-convergence gap, resulting in imperfect performance when representing complex signals with multiple "frequencies". We have identified that both of these two characteristics could be handled by increasing the utilization of definition domain in current activation functions, for which we propose the FINER++ framework by extending existing periodic/non-periodic activation functions to variable-periodic ones. By initializing the bias of the neural network with different ranges, sub-functions with various frequencies in the variable-periodic function are selected for activation. Consequently, the supported frequency set can be flexibly tuned, leading to improved performance in signal representation. We demonstrate the generalization and capabilities of FINER++ with different activation function backbones (Sine, Gauss. and Wavelet) and various tasks (2D image fitting, 3D signed distance field representation, 5D neural radiance fields optimization and streamable INR transmission), and we show that it improves existing INRs. Manifold Path Guiding for Importance Sampling Specular ChainsZhimin Fan, Pengpei Hong, Jie Guo et al.
Complex visual effects such as caustics are often produced by light paths containing multiple consecutive specular vertices (dubbed specular chains), which pose a challenge to unbiased estimation in Monte Carlo rendering. In this work, we study the light transport behavior within a sub-path that is comprised of a specular chain and two non-specular separators. We show that the specular manifolds formed by all the sub-paths could be exploited to provide coherence among sub-paths. By reconstructing continuous energy distributions from historical and coherent sub-paths, seed chains can be generated in the context of importance sampling and converge to admissible chains through manifold walks. We verify that importance sampling the seed chain in the continuous space reaches the goal of importance sampling the discrete admissible specular chain. Based on these observations and theoretical analyses, a progressive pipeline, manifold path guiding, is designed and implemented to importance sample challenging paths featuring long specular chains. To our best knowledge, this is the first general framework for importance sampling discrete specular chains in regular Monte Carlo rendering. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art unbiased solutions with up to 40x variance reduction, especially in typical scenes containing long specular chains and complex visibility.

Spectral-GS: Taming 3D Gaussian Splatting with Spectral EntropyLetian Huang, Jie Guo, Jialin Dan et al.
Recently, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) has achieved impressive results in novel view synthesis, demonstrating high fidelity and efficiency. However, it easily exhibits needle-like artifacts, especially when increasing the sampling rate. Mip-Splatting tries to remove these artifacts with a 3D smoothing filter for frequency constraints and a 2D Mip filter for approximated supersampling. Unfortunately, it tends to produce over-blurred results, and sometimes needle-like Gaussians still persist. Our spectral analysis of the covariance matrix during optimization and densification reveals that current 3D-GS lacks shape awareness, relying instead on spectral radius and view positional gradients to determine splitting. As a result, needle-like Gaussians with small positional gradients and low spectral entropy fail to split and overfit high-frequency details. Furthermore, both the filters used in 3D-GS and Mip-Splatting reduce the spectral entropy and increase the condition number during zooming in to synthesize novel view, causing view inconsistencies and more pronounced artifacts. Our Spectral-GS, based on spectral analysis, introduces 3D shape-aware splitting and 2D view-consistent filtering strategies, effectively addressing these issues, enhancing 3D-GS's capability to represent high-frequency details without noticeable artifacts, and achieving high-quality photorealistic rendering.

UMo: Unified Sparse Motion Modeling for Real-Time Co-Speech AvatarsXiaoyu Zhan, Xinyu Fu, Chenghao Yang et al.
Speech-driven gestures and facial animations are fundamental to expressive digital avatars in games, virtual production, and interactive media. However, existing methods are either limited to a single modality for audio motion alignment, failing to fully utilize the potential of massive human motion data, or are constrained by the representation ability and throughput of multimodal models, which makes it difficult to achieve high-quality motion generation or real-time performance. We present UMo, a unified sparse motion modeling architecture for real-time co-speech avatars, which processes text, audio, and motion tokens within a unified formulation. Leveraging a spatially sparse Mixture-of-Experts framework and a temporally sparse, keyframe-centric design, UMo efficiently performs real-time dense reconstruction, enabling temporally coherent and high-fidelity animation generation for both facial expressions and gestures. Furthermore, we implement a multi-stage training strategy with targeted audio augmentation to enhance acoustic diversity and semantic consistency. Consequently, UMo preserves fine-grained speech-motion alignment even under strict latency constraints. Extensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations show that UMo achieves better output quality under low latency and real-time performance constraints, offering a practical solution for high-fidelity real-time co-speech avatars.

AnchorRoute: Human Motion Synthesis with Interval-Routed Sparse ControPengcheng Fang, Tengjiao Sun, Dongjie Fu et al.
Sparse anchors provide a compact interface for human motion authoring: users specify a few root positions, planar trajectory samples, or body-point targets, while the system synthesizes the full-body motion that completes the under-specified intent. We present AnchorRoute, a sparse-anchor motion synthesis framework that uses anchors as a shared scaffold for both generation and refinement. Before generation, AnchorRoute converts sparse anchors into anchor-condition features and injects the resulting condition memory into a frozen Transition Masked Diffusion prior through AnchorKV and dual-context conditioning. This preserves the generation quality of the pretrained text-to-motion prior while learning sparse spatial control. After generation, the same anchors are evaluated as residuals: their timestamps define refinement intervals, and their residuals determine where correction should be concentrated. RouteSolver then refines the motion by projecting soft-token updates onto anchor-defined piecewise-affine interval bases. This couples generation-time anchor conditioning with residual-routed refinement under one anchor scaffold. AnchorRoute supports root-3D, planar-root, and body-point control within the same formulation. In benchmark evaluations, AnchorRoute outperforms prior sparse-control methods under the sparse keyjoint protocol and consistently improves anchor adherence across control families. The results show that the learned anchor-conditioned generator and RouteSolver refinement are complementary: the generator preserves text-motion quality, while RouteSolver provides a controllable path toward stronger anchor adherence.

BrepGaussian: CAD reconstruction from Multi-View Images with Gaussian SplattingJiaxing Yu, Dongyang Ren, Hangyu Xu et al.
The boundary representation (B-rep) models a 3D solid as its explicit boundaries: trimmed corners, edges, and faces. Recovering B-rep representation from unstructured data is a challenging and valuable task of computer vision and graphics. Recent advances in deep learning have greatly improved the recovery of 3D shape geometry, but still depend on dense and clean point clouds and struggle to generalize to novel shapes. We propose B-rep Gaussian Splatting (BrepGaussian), a novel framework that learns 3D parametric representations from 2D images. We employ a Gaussian Splatting renderer with learnable features, followed by a specific fitting strategy. To disentangle geometry reconstruction and feature learning, we introduce a two-stage learning framework that first captures geometry and edges and then refines patch features to achieve clean geometry and coherent instance representations. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our approach to state-of-the-art methods. We will release our code and datasets upon acceptance.

LoG3D: Ultra-High-Resolution 3D Shape Modeling via Local-to-Global PartitioningXinran Yang, Shuichang Lai, Jiangjing Lyu et al.
Generating high-fidelity 3D contents remains a fundamental challenge due to the complexity of representing arbitrary topologies-such as open surfaces and intricate internal structures-while preserving geometric details. Prevailing methods based on signed distance fields (SDFs) are hampered by costly watertight preprocessing and struggle with non-manifold geometries, while point-cloud representations often suffer from sampling artifacts and surface discontinuities. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel 3D variational autoencoder (VAE) framework built upon unsigned distance fields (UDFs)-a more robust and computationally efficient representation that naturally handles complex and incomplete shapes. Our core innovation is a local-to-global (LoG) architecture that processes the UDF by partitioning it into uniform subvolumes, termed UBlocks. This architecture couples 3D convolutions for capturing local detail with sparse transformers for enforcing global coherence. A Pad-Average strategy further ensures smooth transitions at subvolume boundaries during reconstruction. This modular design enables seamless scaling to ultra-high resolutions up to $2048^3$-a regime previously unattainable for 3D VAEs. Experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art performance in both reconstruction accuracy and generative quality, yielding superior surface smoothness and geometric flexibility.

Actial: Activate Spatial Reasoning Ability of Multimodal Large Language ModelsXiaoyu Zhan, Wenxuan Huang, Hao Sun et al.
Recent advances in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have significantly improved 2D visual understanding, prompting interest in their application to complex 3D reasoning tasks. However, it remains unclear whether these models can effectively capture the detailed spatial information required for robust real-world performance, especially cross-view consistency, a key requirement for accurate 3D reasoning. Considering this issue, we introduce Viewpoint Learning, a task designed to evaluate and improve the spatial reasoning capabilities of MLLMs. We present the Viewpoint-100K dataset, consisting of 100K object-centric image pairs with diverse viewpoints and corresponding question-answer pairs. Our approach employs a two-stage fine-tuning strategy: first, foundational knowledge is injected to the baseline MLLM via Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) on Viewpoint-100K, resulting in significant improvements across multiple tasks; second, generalization is enhanced through Reinforcement Learning using the Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) algorithm on a broader set of questions. Additionally, we introduce a hybrid cold-start initialization method designed to simultaneously learn viewpoint representations and maintain coherent reasoning thinking. Experimental results show that our approach significantly activates the spatial reasoning ability of MLLM, improving performance on both in-domain and out-of-domain reasoning tasks. Our findings highlight the value of developing foundational spatial skills in MLLMs, supporting future progress in robotics, autonomous systems, and 3D scene understanding.

Affinity Fusion Graph-based Framework for Natural Image SegmentationYang Zhang, Moyun Liu, Jingwu He et al.
This paper proposes an affinity fusion graph framework to effectively connect different graphs with highly discriminating power and nonlinearity for natural image segmentation. The proposed framework combines adjacency-graphs and kernel spectral clustering based graphs (KSC-graphs) according to a new definition named affinity nodes of multi-scale superpixels. These affinity nodes are selected based on a better affiliation of superpixels, namely subspace-preserving representation which is generated by sparse subspace clustering based on subspace pursuit. Then a KSC-graph is built via a novel kernel spectral clustering to explore the nonlinear relationships among these affinity nodes. Moreover, an adjacency-graph at each scale is constructed, which is further used to update the proposed KSC-graph at affinity nodes. The fusion graph is built across different scales, and it is partitioned to obtain final segmentation result. Experimental results on the Berkeley segmentation dataset and Microsoft Research Cambridge dataset show the superiority of our framework in comparison with the state-of-the-art methods. Consequently, the supported frequency set of FINER can be flexibly tuned, leading to improved performance in signal representation. We demonstrate the capabilities of FINER in the contexts of 2D image fitting, 3D signed distance field representation, and 5D neural radiance fields optimization, and we show that it outperforms existing INRs.

On the Error Analysis of 3D Gaussian Splatting and an Optimal Projection StrategyLetian Huang, Jiayang Bai, Jie Guo et al.
3D Gaussian Splatting has garnered extensive attention and application in real-time neural rendering. Concurrently, concerns have been raised about the limitations of this technology in aspects such as point cloud storage, performance, and robustness in sparse viewpoints, leading to various improvements. However, there has been a notable lack of attention to the fundamental problem of projection errors introduced by the local affine approximation inherent in the splatting itself, and the consequential impact of these errors on the quality of photo-realistic rendering. This paper addresses the projection error function of 3D Gaussian Splatting, commencing with the residual error from the first-order Taylor expansion of the projection function. The analysis establishes a correlation between the error and the Gaussian mean position. Subsequently, leveraging function optimization theory, this paper analyzes the function's minima to provide an optimal projection strategy for Gaussian Splatting referred to Optimal Gaussian Splatting, which can accommodate a variety of camera models. Experimental validation further confirms that this projection methodology reduces artifacts, resulting in a more convincingly realistic rendering.

360-GS: Layout-guided Panoramic Gaussian Splatting For Indoor RoamingJiayang Bai, Letian Huang, Jie Guo et al.
3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) has recently attracted great attention with real-time and photo-realistic renderings. This technique typically takes perspective images as input and optimizes a set of 3D elliptical Gaussians by splatting them onto the image planes, resulting in 2D Gaussians. However, applying 3D-GS to panoramic inputs presents challenges in effectively modeling the projection onto the spherical surface of ${360^\circ}$ images using 2D Gaussians. In practical applications, input panoramas are often sparse, leading to unreliable initialization of 3D Gaussians and subsequent degradation of 3D-GS quality. In addition, due to the under-constrained geometry of texture-less planes (e.g., walls and floors), 3D-GS struggles to model these flat regions with elliptical Gaussians, resulting in significant floaters in novel views. To address these issues, we propose 360-GS, a novel $360^{\circ}$ Gaussian splatting for a limited set of panoramic inputs. Instead of splatting 3D Gaussians directly onto the spherical surface, 360-GS projects them onto the tangent plane of the unit sphere and then maps them to the spherical projections. This adaptation enables the representation of the projection using Gaussians. We guide the optimization of 360-GS by exploiting layout priors within panoramas, which are simple to obtain and contain strong structural information about the indoor scene. Our experimental results demonstrate that 360-GS allows panoramic rendering and outperforms state-of-the-art methods with fewer artifacts in novel view synthesis, thus providing immersive roaming in indoor scenarios.

Semantic Human Mesh Reconstruction with TexturesXiaoyu Zhan, Jianxin Yang, Yuanqi Li et al.
The field of 3D detailed human mesh reconstruction has made significant progress in recent years. However, current methods still face challenges when used in industrial applications due to unstable results, low-quality meshes, and a lack of UV unwrapping and skinning weights. In this paper, we present SHERT, a novel pipeline that can reconstruct semantic human meshes with textures and high-precision details. SHERT applies semantic- and normal-based sampling between the detailed surface (e.g. mesh and SDF) and the corresponding SMPL-X model to obtain a partially sampled semantic mesh and then generates the complete semantic mesh by our specifically designed self-supervised completion and refinement networks. Using the complete semantic mesh as a basis, we employ a texture diffusion model to create human textures that are driven by both images and texts. Our reconstructed meshes have stable UV unwrapping, high-quality triangle meshes, and consistent semantic information. The given SMPL-X model provides semantic information and shape priors, allowing SHERT to perform well even with incorrect and incomplete inputs. The semantic information also makes it easy to substitute and animate different body parts such as the face, body, and hands. Quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that SHERT is capable of producing high-fidelity and robust semantic meshes that outperform state-of-the-art methods.

TransparentGS: Fast Inverse Rendering of Transparent Objects with GaussiansLetian Huang, Dongwei Ye, Jialin Dan et al.
The emergence of neural and Gaussian-based radiance field methods has led to considerable advancements in novel view synthesis and 3D object reconstruction. Nonetheless, specular reflection and refraction continue to pose significant challenges due to the instability and incorrect overfitting of radiance fields to high-frequency light variations. Currently, even 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS), as a powerful and efficient tool, falls short in recovering transparent objects with nearby contents due to the existence of apparent secondary ray effects. To address this issue, we propose TransparentGS, a fast inverse rendering pipeline for transparent objects based on 3D-GS. The main contributions are three-fold. Firstly, an efficient representation of transparent objects, transparent Gaussian primitives, is designed to enable specular refraction through a deferred refraction strategy. Secondly, we leverage Gaussian light field probes (GaussProbe) to encode both ambient light and nearby contents in a unified framework. Thirdly, a depth-based iterative probes query (IterQuery) algorithm is proposed to reduce the parallax errors in our probe-based framework. Experiments demonstrate the speed and accuracy of our approach in recovering transparent objects from complex environments, as well as several applications in computer graphics and vision.

GlossyGS: Inverse Rendering of Glossy Objects with 3D Gaussian SplattingShuichang Lai, Letian Huang, Jie Guo et al.
Reconstructing objects from posed images is a crucial and complex task in computer graphics and computer vision. While NeRF-based neural reconstruction methods have exhibited impressive reconstruction ability, they tend to be time-comsuming. Recent strategies have adopted 3D Gaussian Splatting (3D-GS) for inverse rendering, which have led to quick and effective outcomes. However, these techniques generally have difficulty in producing believable geometries and materials for glossy objects, a challenge that stems from the inherent ambiguities of inverse rendering. To address this, we introduce GlossyGS, an innovative 3D-GS-based inverse rendering framework that aims to precisely reconstruct the geometry and materials of glossy objects by integrating material priors. The key idea is the use of micro-facet geometry segmentation prior, which helps to reduce the intrinsic ambiguities and improve the decomposition of geometries and materials. Additionally, we introduce a normal map prefiltering strategy to more accurately simulate the normal distribution of reflective surfaces. These strategies are integrated into a hybrid geometry and material representation that employs both explicit and implicit methods to depict glossy objects. We demonstrate through quantitative analysis and qualitative visualization that the proposed method is effective to reconstruct high-fidelity geometries and materials of glossy objects, and performs favorably against state-of-the-arts.

P3-SAM: Native 3D Part SegmentationChangfeng Ma, Yang Li, Xinhao Yan et al.
Segmenting 3D assets into their constituent parts is crucial for enhancing 3D understanding, facilitating model reuse, and supporting various applications such as part generation. However, current methods face limitations such as poor robustness when dealing with complex objects and cannot fully automate the process. In this paper, we propose a native 3D point-promptable part segmentation model termed P$^3$-SAM, designed to fully automate the segmentation of any 3D objects into components. Inspired by SAM, P$^3$-SAM consists of a feature extractor, multiple segmentation heads, and an IoU predictor, enabling interactive segmentation for users. We also propose an algorithm to automatically select and merge masks predicted by our model for part instance segmentation. Our model is trained on a newly built dataset containing nearly 3.7 million models with reasonable segmentation labels. Comparisons show that our method achieves precise segmentation results and strong robustness on any complex objects, attaining state-of-the-art performance. GaRe: Relightable 3D Gaussian Splatting for Outdoor Scenes from Unconstrained Photo CollectionsHaiyang Bai, Jiaqi Zhu, Songru Jiang et al.
We propose a 3D Gaussian splatting-based framework for outdoor relighting that leverages intrinsic image decomposition to precisely integrate sunlight, sky radiance, and indirect lighting from unconstrained photo collections. Unlike prior methods that compress the per-image global illumination into a single latent vector, our approach enables simultaneously diverse shading manipulation and the generation of dynamic shadow effects. This is achieved through three key innovations: (1) a residual-based sun visibility extraction method to accurately separate direct sunlight effects, (2) a region-based supervision framework with a structural consistency loss for physically interpretable and coherent illumination decomposition, and (3) a ray-tracing-based technique for realistic shadow simulation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our framework synthesizes novel views with competitive fidelity against state-of-the-art relighting solutions and produces more natural and multifaceted illumination and shadow effects.

Flatten The Complex: Joint B-Rep Generation via Compositional $k$-Cell ParticlesJunran Lu, Yuanqi Li, Hengji Li et al.
Boundary Representation (B-Rep) is the widely adopted standard in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and manufacturing. However, generative modeling of B-Reps remains a formidable challenge due to their inherent heterogeneity as geometric cell complexes, which entangles topology with geometry across cells of varying orders (i.e., $k$-cells such as vertices, edges, faces). Previous methods typically rely on cascaded sequences to handle this hierarchy, which fails to fully exploit the geometric relationships between cells, such as adjacency and sharing, limiting context awareness and error recovery. To fill this gap, we introduce a novel paradigm that reformulates B-Reps into sets of compositional $k$-cell particles. Our approach encodes each topological entity as a composition of particles, where adjacent cells share identical latents at their interfaces, thereby promoting geometric coupling along shared boundaries. By decoupling the rigid hierarchy, our representation unifies vertices, edges, and faces, enabling the joint generation of topology and geometry with global context awareness. We synthesize these particle sets using a multi-modal flow matching framework to handle unconditional generation as well as precise conditional tasks, such as 3D reconstruction from single-view or point cloud. Furthermore, the explicit and localized nature of our representation naturally extends to downstream tasks like local in-painting and enables the direct synthesis of non-manifold structures (e.g., wireframes). Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method produces high-fidelity CAD models with superior validity and editability compared to state-of-the-art methods.

DOGE: Differentiable Bezier Graph Optimization for Road Network ExtractionJiahui Sun, Junran Lu, Jinhui Yin et al.
Automatic extraction of road networks from aerial imagery is a fundamental task, yet prevailing methods rely on polylines that struggle to model curvilinear geometry. We maintain that road geometry is inherently curve-based and introduce the Bézier Graph, a differentiable parametric curve-based representation. The primary obstacle to this representation is to obtain the difficult-to-construct vector ground-truth (GT). We sidestep this bottleneck by reframing the task as a global optimization problem over the Bézier Graph. Our framework, DOGE, operationalizes this paradigm by learning a parametric Bézier Graph directly from segmentation masks, eliminating the need for curve GT. DOGE holistically optimizes the graph by alternating between two complementary modules: DiffAlign continuously optimizes geometry via differentiable rendering, while TopoAdapt uses discrete operators to refine its topology. Our method sets a new state-of-the-art on the large-scale SpaceNet and CityScale benchmarks, presenting a new paradigm for generating high-fidelity vector maps of road networks. MatMart: Material Reconstruction of 3D Objects via DiffusionXiuchao Wu, Pengfei Zhu, Jiangjing Lyu et al.
Applying diffusion models to physically-based material estimation and generation has recently gained prominence. In this paper, we propose \ttt, a novel material reconstruction framework for 3D objects, offering the following advantages. First, \ttt\ adopts a two-stage reconstruction, starting with accurate material prediction from inputs and followed by prior-guided material generation for unobserved views, yielding high-fidelity results. Second, by utilizing progressive inference alongside the proposed view-material cross-attention (VMCA), \ttt\ enables reconstruction from an arbitrary number of input images, demonstrating strong scalability and flexibility. Finally, \ttt\ achieves both material prediction and generation capabilities through end-to-end optimization of a single diffusion model, without relying on additional pre-trained models, thereby exhibiting enhanced stability across various types of objects. Extensive experiments demonstrate that \ttt\ achieves superior performance in material reconstruction compared to existing methods.

InternSVG: Towards Unified SVG Tasks with Multimodal Large Language ModelsHaomin Wang, Jinhui Yin, Qi Wei et al.
General SVG modeling remains challenging due to fragmented datasets, limited transferability of methods across tasks, and the difficulty of handling structural complexity. In response, we leverage the strong transfer and generalization capabilities of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to achieve unified modeling for SVG understanding, editing, and generation. We present the InternSVG family, an integrated data-benchmark-model suite. At its core is SAgoge, the largest and most comprehensive multimodal dataset for SVG tasks, encompassing both static graphics and dynamic animations. It covers icons, long-sequence illustrations, scientific diagrams, and dynamic animations, supporting tasks of varied difficulty levels and providing deeper hierarchies with richer attributes compared to previous datasets. Based on this resource, we introduce SArena, a companion benchmark with comprehensive task definitions and standardized evaluation that aligns with the domains and difficulty spectrum covered by SAgoge. Building on these foundations, we propose InternSVG, a unified MLLM for SVG understanding, editing, and generation with SVG-specific special tokens, subword-based embedding initialization, and a two-stage training strategy that progresses from short static SVGs to long-sequence illustrations and complex animations. This unified formulation induces positive transfer and improves overall performance. Experiments on SArena and prior benchmark confirm that InternSVG achieves substantial gains and consistently outperforms leading open and proprietary counterparts.

StableIntrinsic: Detail-preserving One-step Diffusion Model for Multi-view Material EstimationXiuchao Wu, Pengfei Zhu, Jiangjing Lyu et al.
Recovering material information from images has been extensively studied in computer graphics and vision. Recent works in material estimation leverage diffusion model showing promising results. However, these diffusion-based methods adopt a multi-step denoising strategy, which is time-consuming for each estimation. Such stochastic inference also conflicts with the deterministic material estimation task, leading to a high variance estimated results. In this paper, we introduce StableIntrinsic, a one-step diffusion model for multi-view material estimation that can produce high-quality material parameters with low variance. To address the overly-smoothing problem in one-step diffusion, StableIntrinsic applies losses in pixel space, with each loss designed based on the properties of the material. Additionally, StableIntrinsic introduces a Detail Injection Network (DIN) to eliminate the detail loss caused by VAE encoding, while further enhancing the sharpness of material prediction results. The experimental results indicate that our method surpasses the current state-of-the-art techniques by achieving a $9.9\%$ improvement in the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) of albedo, and by reducing the Mean Square Error (MSE) for metallic and roughness by $44.4\%$ and $60.0\%$, respectively.

Test-Time-Matching: Decouple Personality, Memory, and Linguistic Style in LLM-based Role-Playing Language AgentXiaoyu Zhan, Xinyu Fu, Hao Sun et al.
The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) has enabled role-playing language agents to demonstrate significant potential in various applications. However, relying solely on prompts and contextual inputs often proves insufficient for achieving deep immersion in specific roles, particularly well-known fictional or public figures. On the other hand, fine-tuning-based approaches face limitations due to the challenges associated with data collection and the computational resources required for training, thereby restricting their broader applicability. To address these issues, we propose Test-Time-Matching (TTM), a training-free role-playing framework through test-time scaling and context engineering. TTM uses LLM agents to automatically decouple a character's features into personality, memory, and linguistic style. Our framework involves a structured, three-stage generation pipeline that utilizes these features for controlled role-playing. It achieves high-fidelity role-playing performance, also enables seamless combinations across diverse linguistic styles and even variations in personality and memory. We evaluate our framework through human assessment, and the results demonstrate that our method achieves the outstanding performance in generating expressive and stylistically consistent character dialogues.

Parameterize Structure with Differentiable Template for 3D Shape GenerationChangfeng Ma, Pengxiao Guo, Shuangyu Yang et al.
Structural representation is crucial for reconstructing and generating editable 3D shapes with part semantics. Recent 3D shape generation works employ complicated networks and structure definitions relying on hierarchical annotations and pay less attention to the details inside parts. In this paper, we propose the method that parameterizes the shared structure in the same category using a differentiable template and corresponding fixed-length parameters. Specific parameters are fed into the template to calculate cuboids that indicate a concrete shape. We utilize the boundaries of three-view drawings of each cuboid to further describe the inside details. Shapes are represented with the parameters and three-view details inside cuboids, from which the SDF can be calculated to recover the object. Benefiting from our fixed-length parameters and three-view details, our networks for reconstruction and generation are simple and effective to learn the latent space. Our method can reconstruct or generate diverse shapes with complicated details, and interpolate them smoothly. Extensive evaluations demonstrate the superiority of our method on reconstruction from point cloud, generation, and interpolation.

Deep Graph Learning for Spatially-Varying Indoor Lighting PredictionJiayang Bai, Jie Guo, Chenchen Wan et al.
Lighting prediction from a single image is becoming increasingly important in many vision and augmented reality (AR) applications in which shading and shadow consistency between virtual and real objects should be guaranteed. However, this is a notoriously ill-posed problem, especially for indoor scenarios, because of the complexity of indoor luminaires and the limited information involved in 2D images. In this paper, we propose a graph learning-based framework for indoor lighting estimation. At its core is a new lighting model (dubbed DSGLight) based on depth-augmented Spherical Gaussians (SG) and a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) that infers the new lighting representation from a single LDR image of limited field-of-view. Our lighting model builds 128 evenly distributed SGs over the indoor panorama, where each SG encoding the lighting and the depth around that node. The proposed GCN then learns the mapping from the input image to DSGLight. Compared with existing lighting models, our DSGLight encodes both direct lighting and indirect environmental lighting more faithfully and compactly. It also makes network training and inference more stable. The estimated depth distribution enables temporally stable shading and shadows under spatially-varying lighting. Through thorough experiments, we show that our method obviously outperforms existing methods both qualitatively and quantitatively.

GLPanoDepth: Global-to-Local Panoramic Depth EstimationJiayang Bai, Shuichang Lai, Haoyu Qin et al.
In this paper, we propose a learning-based method for predicting dense depth values of a scene from a monocular omnidirectional image. An omnidirectional image has a full field-of-view, providing much more complete descriptions of the scene than perspective images. However, fully-convolutional networks that most current solutions rely on fail to capture rich global contexts from the panorama. To address this issue and also the distortion of equirectangular projection in the panorama, we propose Cubemap Vision Transformers (CViT), a new transformer-based architecture that can model long-range dependencies and extract distortion-free global features from the panorama. We show that cubemap vision transformers have a global receptive field at every stage and can provide globally coherent predictions for spherical signals. To preserve important local features, we further design a convolution-based branch in our pipeline (dubbed GLPanoDepth) and fuse global features from cubemap vision transformers at multiple scales. This global-to-local strategy allows us to fully exploit useful global and local features in the panorama, achieving state-of-the-art performance in panoramic depth estimation.

Attention-based Dual Supervised Decoder for RGBD Semantic SegmentationYang Zhang, Yang Yang, Chenyun Xiong et al.
Encoder-decoder models have been widely used in RGBD semantic segmentation, and most of them are designed via a two-stream network. In general, jointly reasoning the color and geometric information from RGBD is beneficial for semantic segmentation. However, most existing approaches fail to comprehensively utilize multimodal information in both the encoder and decoder. In this paper, we propose a novel attention-based dual supervised decoder for RGBD semantic segmentation. In the encoder, we design a simple yet effective attention-based multimodal fusion module to extract and fuse deeply multi-level paired complementary information. To learn more robust deep representations and rich multi-modal information, we introduce a dual-branch decoder to effectively leverage the correlations and complementary cues of different tasks. Extensive experiments on NYUDv2 and SUN-RGBD datasets demonstrate that our method achieves superior performance against the state-of-the-art methods.

A Transductive Maximum Margin Classifier for Few-Shot LearningFei Pan, Chunlei Xu, Jie Guo et al.
Few-shot learning aims to train a classifier that can generalize well when just a small number of labeled examples per class are given. We introduce a transductive maximum margin classifier for few-shot learning (FS-TMMC). The basic idea of the classical maximum margin classifier is to solve an optimal prediction function so that the training data can be correctly classified by the resulting classifer with the largest geometric margin. In few-shot learning, it is challenging to find such classifiers with good generalization ability due to the insufficiency of training data in the support set. FS-TMMC leverages the unlabeled query examples to adjust the separating hyperplane of the maximum margin classifier such that the prediction function is optimal on both the support and query sets. Furthermore, we use an efficient and effective quasi-Newton algorithm, the L-BFGS method for optimization. Experimental results on three standard few-shot learning benchmarks including miniImagenet, tieredImagenet and CUB show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Temporal Alignment Prediction for Few-Shot Video ClassificationFei Pan, Chunlei Xu, Jie Guo et al.
The goal of few-shot video classification is to learn a classification model with good generalization ability when trained with only a few labeled videos. However, it is difficult to learn discriminative feature representations for videos in such a setting. In this paper, we propose Temporal Alignment Prediction (TAP) based on sequence similarity learning for few-shot video classification. In order to obtain the similarity of a pair of videos, we predict the alignment scores between all pairs of temporal positions in the two videos with the temporal alignment prediction function. Besides, the inputs to this function are also equipped with the context information in the temporal domain. We evaluate TAP on two video classification benchmarks including Kinetics and Something-Something V2. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of TAP and show its superiority over state-of-the-art methods.

A Unified Light Framework for Real-time Fault Detection of Freight Train ImagesYang Zhang, Moyun Liu, Yang Yang et al.
Real-time fault detection for freight trains plays a vital role in guaranteeing the security and optimal operation of railway transportation under stringent resource requirements. Despite the promising results for deep learning based approaches, the performance of these fault detectors on freight train images, are far from satisfactory in both accuracy and efficiency. This paper proposes a unified light framework to improve detection accuracy while supporting a real-time operation with a low resource requirement. We firstly design a novel lightweight backbone (RFDNet) to improve the accuracy and reduce computational cost. Then, we propose a multi region proposal network using multi-scale feature maps generated from RFDNet to improve the detection performance. Finally, we present multi level position-sensitive score maps and region of interest pooling to further improve accuracy with few redundant computations. Extensive experimental results on public benchmark datasets suggest that our RFDNet can significantly improve the performance of baseline network with higher accuracy and efficiency. Experiments on six fault datasets show that our method is capable of real-time detection at over 38 frames per second and achieves competitive accuracy and lower computation than the state-of-the-art detectors.

Tensor Composition Net for Visual Relationship PredictionYuting Qiang, Yongxin Yang, Xueting Zhang et al.
We present a novel Tensor Composition Net (TCN) to predict visual relationships in images. Visual Relationship Prediction (VRP) provides a more challenging test of image understanding than conventional image tagging and is difficult to learn due to a large label-space and incomplete annotation. The key idea of our TCN is to exploit the low-rank property of the visual relationship tensor, so as to leverage correlations within and across objects and relations and make a structured prediction of all visual relationships in an image. To show the effectiveness of our model, we first empirically compare our model with Multi-Label Image Classification (MLIC) methods, eXtreme Multi-label Classification (XMC) methods, and VRD methods. We then show that thanks to our tensor (de)composition layer, our model can predict visual relationships which have not been seen in the training dataset. We finally show our TCN's image-level visual relationship prediction provides a simple and efficient mechanism for relation-based image-retrieval even compared with VRD methods.

Hierarchical Context Embedding for Region-based Object DetectionZhao-Min Chen, Xin Jin, Borui Zhao et al.
State-of-the-art two-stage object detectors apply a classifier to a sparse set of object proposals, relying on region-wise features extracted by RoIPool or RoIAlign as inputs. The region-wise features, in spite of aligning well with the proposal locations, may still lack the crucial context information which is necessary for filtering out noisy background detections, as well as recognizing objects possessing no distinctive appearances. To address this issue, we present a simple but effective Hierarchical Context Embedding (HCE) framework, which can be applied as a plug-and-play component, to facilitate the classification ability of a series of region-based detectors by mining contextual cues. Specifically, to advance the recognition of context-dependent object categories, we propose an image-level categorical embedding module which leverages the holistic image-level context to learn object-level concepts. Then, novel RoI features are generated by exploiting hierarchically embedded context information beneath both whole images and interested regions, which are also complementary to conventional RoI features. Moreover, to make full use of our hierarchical contextual RoI features, we propose the early-and-late fusion strategies (i.e., feature fusion and confidence fusion), which can be combined to boost the classification accuracy of region-based detectors. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our HCE framework is flexible and generalizable, leading to significant and consistent improvements upon various region-based detectors, including FPN, Cascade R-CNN and Mask R-CNN.

Image Stitching Based on Planar Region ConsensusAocheng Li, Jie Guo, Yanwen Guo
Image stitching for two images without a global transformation between them is notoriously difficult. In this paper, noticing the importance of planar structure under perspective geometry, we propose a new image stitching method which stitches images by allowing for the alignment of a set of matched dominant planar regions. Clearly different from previous methods resorting to plane segmentation, the key to our approach is to utilize rich semantic information directly from RGB images to extract planar image regions with a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). We specifically design a new module to make fully use of existing semantic segmentation networks to accommodate planar segmentation. To train the network, a dataset for planar region segmentation is contributed. With the planar region knowledge, a set of local transformations can be obtained by constraining matched regions, enabling more precise alignment in the overlapping area. We also use planar knowledge to estimate a transformation field over the whole image. The final mosaic is obtained by a mesh-based optimization framework which maintains high alignment accuracy and relaxes similarity transformation at the same time. Extensive experiments with quantitative comparisons show that our method can deal with different situations and outperforms the state-of-the-arts on challenging scenes.

FA-GANs: Facial Attractiveness Enhancement with Generative Adversarial Networks on Frontal FacesJingwu He, Chuan Wang, Yang Zhang et al.
Facial attractiveness enhancement has been an interesting application in Computer Vision and Graphics over these years. It aims to generate a more attractive face via manipulations on image and geometry structure while preserving face identity. In this paper, we propose the first Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for enhancing facial attractiveness in both geometry and appearance aspects, which we call "FA-GANs". FA-GANs contain two branches and enhance facial attractiveness in two perspectives: facial geometry and facial appearance. Each branch consists of individual GANs with the appearance branch adjusting the facial image and the geometry branch adjusting the facial landmarks in appearance and geometry aspects, respectively. Unlike the traditional facial manipulations learning from paired faces, which are infeasible to collect before and after enhancement of the same individual, we achieve this by learning the features of attractiveness faces through unsupervised adversarial learning. The proposed FA-GANs are able to extract attractiveness features and impose them on the enhancement results. To better enhance faces, both the geometry and appearance networks are considered to refine the facial attractiveness by adjusting the geometry layout of faces and the appearance of faces independently. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to enhance the facial attractiveness with GANs in both geometry and appearance aspects. The experimental results suggest that our FA-GANs can generate compelling perceptual results in both geometry structure and facial appearance and outperform current state-of-the-art methods.

Open set recognition requires a classifier to detect samples not belonging to any of the classes in its training set. Existing methods fit a probability distribution to the training samples on their embedding space and detect outliers according to this distribution. The embedding space is often obtained from a discriminative classifier. However, such discriminative representation focuses only on known classes, which may not be critical for distinguishing the unknown classes. We argue that the representation space should be jointly learned from the inlier classifier and the density estimator (served as an outlier detector). We propose the OpenHybrid framework, which is composed of an encoder to encode the input data into a joint embedding space, a classifier to classify samples to inlier classes, and a flow-based density estimator to detect whether a sample belongs to the unknown category. A typical problem of existing flow-based models is that they may assign a higher likelihood to outliers. However, we empirically observe that such an issue does not occur in our experiments when learning a joint representation for discriminative and generative components. Experiments on standard open set benchmarks also reveal that an end-to-end trained OpenHybrid model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods and flow-based baselines.

Multi-Label Image Recognition with Graph Convolutional NetworksZhao-Min Chen, Xiu-Shen Wei, Peng Wang et al.
The task of multi-label image recognition is to predict a set of object labels that present in an image. As objects normally co-occur in an image, it is desirable to model the label dependencies to improve the recognition performance. To capture and explore such important dependencies, we propose a multi-label classification model based on Graph Convolutional Network (GCN). The model builds a directed graph over the object labels, where each node (label) is represented by word embeddings of a label, and GCN is learned to map this label graph into a set of inter-dependent object classifiers. These classifiers are applied to the image descriptors extracted by another sub-net, enabling the whole network to be end-to-end trainable. Furthermore, we propose a novel re-weighted scheme to create an effective label correlation matrix to guide information propagation among the nodes in GCN. Experiments on two multi-label image recognition datasets show that our approach obviously outperforms other existing state-of-the-art methods. In addition, visualization analyses reveal that the classifiers learned by our model maintain meaningful semantic topology.

Viewpoint Selection for Photographing ArchitecturesJingwu He, Linbo Wang, Wenzhe Zhou et al.
This paper studies the problem of how to choose good viewpoints for taking photographs of architectures. We achieve this by learning from professional photographs of world famous landmarks that are available on the Internet. Unlike previous efforts devoted to photo quality assessment which mainly rely on 2D image features, we show in this paper combining 2D image features extracted from images with 3D geometric features computed on the 3D models can result in more reliable evaluation of viewpoint quality. Specifically, we collect a set of photographs for each of 15 world famous architectures as well as their 3D models from the Internet. Viewpoint recovery for images is carried out through an image-model registration process, after which a newly proposed viewpoint clustering strategy is exploited to validate users' viewpoint preferences when photographing landmarks. Finally, we extract a number of 2D and 3D features for each image based on multiple visual and geometric cues and perform viewpoint recommendation by learning from both 2D and 3D features using a specifically designed SVM-2K multi-view learner, achieving superior performance over using solely 2D or 3D features. We show the effectiveness of the proposed approach through extensive experiments. The experiments also demonstrate that our system can be used to recommend viewpoints for rendering textured 3D models of buildings for the use of architectural design, in addition to viewpoint evaluation of photographs and recommendation of viewpoints for photographing architectures in practice.

A Data-driven Approach for Furniture and Indoor Scene ColorizationJie Zhu, Yanwen Guo, Han Ma
We present a data-driven approach that colorizes 3D furniture models and indoor scenes by leveraging indoor images on the internet. Our approach is able to colorize the furniture automatically according to an example image. The core is to learn image-guided mesh segmentation to segment the model into different parts according to the image object. Given an indoor scene, the system supports colorization-by-example, and has the ability to recommend the colorization scheme that is consistent with a user-desired color theme. The latter is realized by formulating the problem as a Markov random field model that imposes user input as an additional constraint. We contribute to the community a hierarchically organized image-model database with correspondences between each image and the corresponding model at the part-level. Our experiments and a user study show that our system produces perceptually convincing results comparable to those generated by interior designers.

Learning to Generate Posters of Scientific Papers by Probabilistic Graphical ModelsYu-ting Qiang, Yanwei Fu, Xiao Yu et al.
Researchers often summarize their work in the form of scientific posters. Posters provide a coherent and efficient way to convey core ideas expressed in scientific papers. Generating a good scientific poster, however, is a complex and time consuming cognitive task, since such posters need to be readable, informative, and visually aesthetic. In this paper, for the first time, we study the challenging problem of learning to generate posters from scientific papers. To this end, a data-driven framework, that utilizes graphical models, is proposed. Specifically, given content to display, the key elements of a good poster, including attributes of each panel and arrangements of graphical elements are learned and inferred from data. During the inference stage, an MAP inference framework is employed to incorporate some design principles. In order to bridge the gap between panel attributes and the composition within each panel, we also propose a recursive page splitting algorithm to generate the panel layout for a poster. To learn and validate our model, we collect and release a new benchmark dataset, called NJU-Fudan Paper-Poster dataset, which consists of scientific papers and corresponding posters with exhaustively labelled panels and attributes. Qualitative and quantitative results indicate the effectiveness of our approach.

Efficient Discriminative Nonorthogonal Binary Subspace with its Application to Visual TrackingAng Li, Feng Tang, Yanwen Guo et al.
One of the crucial problems in visual tracking is how the object is represented. Conventional appearance-based trackers are using increasingly more complex features in order to be robust. However, complex representations typically not only require more computation for feature extraction, but also make the state inference complicated. We show that with a careful feature selection scheme, extremely simple yet discriminative features can be used for robust object tracking. The central component of the proposed method is a succinct and discriminative representation of the object using discriminative non-orthogonal binary subspace (DNBS) which is spanned by Haar-like features. The DNBS representation inherits the merits of the original NBS in that it efficiently describes the object. It also incorporates the discriminative information to distinguish foreground from background. However, the problem of finding the DNBS bases from an over-complete dictionary is NP-hard. We propose a greedy algorithm called discriminative optimized orthogonal matching pursuit (D-OOMP) to solve this problem. An iterative formulation named iterative D-OOMP is further developed to drastically reduce the redundant computation between iterations and a hierarchical selection strategy is integrated for reducing the search space of features. The proposed DNBS representation is applied to object tracking through SSD-based template matching. We validate the effectiveness of our method through extensive experiments on challenging videos with comparisons against several state-of-the-art trackers and demonstrate its capability to track objects in clutter and moving background.

Multi-view Metric Learning for Multi-view Video SummarizationYanwei Fu, Lingbo Wang, Yanwen Guo
Traditional methods on video summarization are designed to generate summaries for single-view video records; and thus they cannot fully exploit the redundancy in multi-view video records. In this paper, we present a multi-view metric learning framework for multi-view video summarization that combines the advantages of maximum margin clustering with the disagreement minimization criterion. The learning framework thus has the ability to find a metric that best separates the data, and meanwhile to force the learned metric to maintain original intrinsic information between data points, for example geometric information. Facilitated by such a framework, a systematic solution to the multi-view video summarization problem is developed. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time to address multi-view video summarization from the viewpoint of metric learning. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by experiments.
