Imagine Before You Predict: Interleaved Latent Visual Reasoning for Video Event Prediction

Video event prediction (VEP) requires models to infer unobserved future states from partial video evidence. Existing video MLLMs usually verbalize intermediate future reasoning in text space: once visual evidence is verbalized, fine-grained motion, geometry, and interaction cues can be lost, leading to plausible but visually ungrounded hallucinations. We introduce Future-L1, an interleaved latent visual reasoning framework that lets an MLLM alternate between language tokens and continuous latent visual spans during autoregressive decoding. To train this capability, we construct Future-L1-50K by selecting examples where future visual hints help prediction and align latent states to future-frame embeddings, then further optimize sampled latent trajectories with LA-DAPO, a latent-aware RL objective with outcome-contrastive and temporal-diversity rewards. Future-L1 achieves new state-of-the-art results on both benchmarks: on FutureBench, it improves Qwen3-VL-8B from 61.0 to 85.4 and exceeds the previous best Video-CoE by 10.4 points; on TwiFF-Bench, it improves the average score from 2.44 to 3.04. These results suggest that future-oriented video reasoning benefits from preserving intermediate visual semantics in latent space rather than translating every reasoning step into text.

Generic Lithography Modeling with Dual-band Optics-Inspired Neural Networks

Lithography simulation is a critical step in VLSI design and optimization for manufacturability. Existing solutions for highly accurate lithography simulation with rigorous models are computationally expensive and slow, even when equipped with various approximation techniques. Recently, machine learning has provided alternative solutions for lithography simulation tasks such as coarse-grained edge placement error regression and complete contour prediction. However, the impact of these learning-based methods has been limited due to restrictive usage scenarios or low simulation accuracy. To tackle these concerns, we introduce an dual-band optics-inspired neural network design that considers the optical physics underlying lithography. To the best of our knowledge, our approach yields the first published via/metal layer contour simulation at 1nm^2/pixel resolution with any tile size. Compared to previous machine learning based solutions, we demonstrate that our framework can be trained much faster and offers a significant improvement on efficiency and image quality with 20X smaller model size. We also achieve 85X simulation speedup over traditional lithography simulator with 1% accuracy loss.

PRISM: Photonics-Informed Inverse Lithography for Manufacturable Inverse-Designed Photonic Integrated Circuits

Recent advances in photonic inverse design have demonstrated the ability to automatically synthesize compact, high-performance photonic components that surpass conventional, hand-designed structures, offering a promising path toward scalable and functionality-rich photonic hardware. However, the practical deployment of inverse-designed PICs is bottlenecked by manufacturability: their irregular, subwavelength geometries are highly sensitive to fabrication variations, leading to large performance degradation, low yield, and a persistent gap between simulated optimality and fabricated performance. Unlike electronics, photonics lacks a systematic, flexible mask optimization flow. Fabrication deviations in photonic components cause large optical response drift and compounding error in cascaded circuits, while calibrating fabrication models remains costly and expertise-heavy, often requiring repeated fabrication cycles that are inaccessible to most designers. To bridge this gap, we introduce PRISM, a photonics-informed inverse lithography workflow that makes photonic mask optimization data-efficient, reliable, and optics-informed. PRISM (i) synthesizes compact, informative calibration patterns to minimize required fabrication data, (ii) trains a physics-grounded differentiable fabrication model, enabling gradient-based optimization, and (iii) performs photonics-informed inverse mask optimization that prioritizes performance-critical features beyond geometry matching. Across multiple inverse-designed components with both electron-beam lithography and deep ultra-violet photolithography processes, PRISM significantly boosts post-fabrication performance and yield while reducing calibration area and turnaround time, enabling and democratizing manufacturable and high-yield inverse-designed photonic hardware at scale.

Large Scale Mask Optimization Via Convolutional Fourier Neural Operator and Litho-Guided Self Training

Machine learning techniques have been extensively studied for mask optimization problems, aiming at better mask printability, shorter turnaround time, better mask manufacturability, and so on. However, most of these researches are focusing on the initial solution generation of small design regions. To further realize the potential of machine learning techniques on mask optimization tasks, we present a Convolutional Fourier Neural Operator (CFNO) that can efficiently learn layout tile dependencies and hence promise stitch-less large-scale mask optimization with the limited intervention of legacy tools. We discover the possibility of litho-guided self-training (LGST) through a trained machine learning model when solving non-convex optimization problems, which allows iterative model and dataset update and brings significant model performance improvement. Experimental results show that, for the first time, our machine learning-based framework outperforms state-of-the-art academic numerical mask optimizers with an order of magnitude speedup.

An Adversarial Active Sampling-based Data Augmentation Framework for Manufacturable Chip Design

Lithography modeling is a crucial problem in chip design to ensure a chip design mask is manufacturable. It requires rigorous simulations of optical and chemical models that are computationally expensive. Recent developments in machine learning have provided alternative solutions in replacing the time-consuming lithography simulations with deep neural networks. However, the considerable accuracy drop still impedes its industrial adoption. Most importantly, the quality and quantity of the training dataset directly affect the model performance. To tackle this problem, we propose a litho-aware data augmentation (LADA) framework to resolve the dilemma of limited data and improve the machine learning model performance. First, we pretrain the neural networks for lithography modeling and a gradient-friendly StyleGAN2 generator. We then perform adversarial active sampling to generate informative and synthetic in-distribution mask designs. These synthetic mask images will augment the original limited training dataset used to finetune the lithography model for improved performance. Experimental results demonstrate that LADA can successfully exploits the neural network capacity by narrowing down the performance gap between the training and testing data instances.

Physics-Informed Optical Kernel Regression Using Complex-valued Neural Fields

Lithography is fundamental to integrated circuit fabrication, necessitating large computation overhead. The advancement of machine learning (ML)-based lithography models alleviates the trade-offs between manufacturing process expense and capability. However, all previous methods regard the lithography system as an image-to-image black box mapping, utilizing network parameters to learn by rote mappings from massive mask-to-aerial or mask-to-resist image pairs, resulting in poor generalization capability. In this paper, we propose a new ML-based paradigm disassembling the rigorous lithographic model into non-parametric mask operations and learned optical kernels containing determinant source, pupil, and lithography information. By optimizing complex-valued neural fields to perform optical kernel regression from coordinates, our method can accurately restore lithography system using a small-scale training dataset with fewer parameters, demonstrating superior generalization capability as well. Experiments show that our framework can use 31% of parameters while achieving 69$\times$ smaller mean squared error with 1.3$\times$ higher throughput than the state-of-the-art.

Transfer learning for process design with reinforcement learning

Process design is a creative task that is currently performed manually by engineers. Artificial intelligence provides new potential to facilitate process design. Specifically, reinforcement learning (RL) has shown some success in automating process design by integrating data-driven models that learn to build process flowsheets with process simulation in an iterative design process. However, one major challenge in the learning process is that the RL agent demands numerous process simulations in rigorous process simulators, thereby requiring long simulation times and expensive computational power. Therefore, typically short-cut simulation methods are employed to accelerate the learning process. Short-cut methods can, however, lead to inaccurate results. We thus propose to utilize transfer learning for process design with RL in combination with rigorous simulation methods. Transfer learning is an established approach from machine learning that stores knowledge gained while solving one problem and reuses this information on a different target domain. We integrate transfer learning in our RL framework for process design and apply it to an illustrative case study comprising equilibrium reactions, azeotropic separation, and recycles, our method can design economically feasible flowsheets with stable interaction with DWSIM. Our results show that transfer learning enables RL to economically design feasible flowsheets with DWSIM, resulting in a flowsheet with an 8% higher revenue. And the learning time can be reduced by a factor of 2.

Entity Aware Modelling: A Survey

Personalized prediction of responses for individual entities caused by external drivers is vital across many disciplines. Recent machine learning (ML) advances have led to new state-of-the-art response prediction models. Models built at a population level often lead to sub-optimal performance in many personalized prediction settings due to heterogeneity in data across entities (tasks). In personalized prediction, the goal is to incorporate inherent characteristics of different entities to improve prediction performance. In this survey, we focus on the recent developments in the ML community for such entity-aware modeling approaches. ML algorithms often modulate the network using these entity characteristics when they are readily available. However, these entity characteristics are not readily available in many real-world scenarios, and different ML methods have been proposed to infer these characteristics from the data. In this survey, we have organized the current literature on entity-aware modeling based on the availability of these characteristics as well as the amount of training data. We highlight how recent innovations in other disciplines, such as uncertainty quantification, fairness, and knowledge-guided machine learning, can improve entity-aware modeling.

GPU-accelerated Matrix Cover Algorithm for Multiple Patterning Layout Decomposition

Multiple patterning lithography (MPL) is regarded as one of the most promising ways of overcoming the resolution limitations of conventional optical lithography due to the delay of next-generation lithography technology. As the feature size continues to decrease, layout decomposition for multiple patterning lithography (MPLD) technology is becoming increasingly crucial for improving the manufacturability in advanced nodes. The decomposition process refers to assigning the layout features to different mask layers according to the design rules and density requirements. When the number of masks $k \geq 3$, the MPLD problems are NP-hard and thus may suffer from runtime overhead for practical designs. However, the number of layout patterns is increasing exponentially in industrial layouts, which hinders the runtime performance of MPLD models. In this research, we substitute the CPU's dance link data structure with parallel GPU matrix operations to accelerate the solution for exact cover-based MPLD algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that our system is capable of full-scale, lightning-fast layout decomposition, which can achieve more than 10$\times$ speed-up without quality degradation compared to state-of-the-art layout decomposition methods.

LaViT: Aligning Latent Visual Thoughts for Multi-modal Reasoning

Current multimodal latent reasoning often relies on external supervision (e.g., auxiliary images), ignoring intrinsic visual attention dynamics. In this work, we identify a critical Perception Gap in distillation: student models frequently mimic a teacher's textual output while attending to fundamentally divergent visual regions, effectively relying on language priors rather than grounded perception. To bridge this, we propose LaViT, a framework that aligns latent visual thoughts rather than static embeddings. LaViT compels the student to autoregressively reconstruct the teacher's visual semantics and attention trajectories prior to text generation, employing a curriculum sensory gating mechanism to prevent shortcut learning. Extensive experiments show that LaViT significantly enhances visual grounding, achieving up to +16.9% gains on complex reasoning tasks and enabling a compact 3B model to outperform larger open-source variants and proprietary models like GPT-4o.

GLM-4.5: Agentic, Reasoning, and Coding (ARC) Foundation Models

We present GLM-4.5, an open-source Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) large language model with 355B total parameters and 32B activated parameters, featuring a hybrid reasoning method that supports both thinking and direct response modes. Through multi-stage training on 23T tokens and comprehensive post-training with expert model iteration and reinforcement learning, GLM-4.5 achieves strong performance across agentic, reasoning, and coding (ARC) tasks, scoring 70.1% on TAU-Bench, 91.0% on AIME 24, and 64.2% on SWE-bench Verified. With much fewer parameters than several competitors, GLM-4.5 ranks 3rd overall among all evaluated models and 2nd on agentic benchmarks. We release both GLM-4.5 (355B parameters) and a compact version, GLM-4.5-Air (106B parameters), to advance research in reasoning and agentic AI systems. Differentiable Edge-based OPC

Optical proximity correction (OPC) is crucial for pushing the boundaries of semiconductor manufacturing and enabling the continued scaling of integrated circuits. While pixel-based OPC, termed as inverse lithography technology (ILT), has gained research interest due to its flexibility and precision. Its complexity and intricate features can lead to challenges in mask writing, increased defects, and higher costs, hence hindering widespread industrial adoption. In this paper, we propose DiffOPC, a differentiable OPC framework that enjoys the virtue of both edge-based OPC and ILT. By employing a mask rule-aware gradient-based optimization approach, DiffOPC efficiently guides mask edge segment movement during mask optimization, minimizing wafer error by propagating true gradients from the cost function back to the mask edges. Our approach achieves lower edge placement error while reducing manufacturing cost by half compared to state-of-the-art OPC techniques, bridging the gap between the high accuracy of pixel-based OPC and the practicality required for industrial adoption, thus offering a promising solution for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

Intelligent OPC Engineer Assistant for Semiconductor Manufacturing

Advancements in chip design and manufacturing have enabled the processing of complex tasks such as deep learning and natural language processing, paving the way for the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI). AI, on the other hand, can be leveraged to innovate and streamline semiconductor technology from planning and implementation to manufacturing. In this paper, we present \textit{Intelligent OPC Engineer Assistant}, an AI/LLM-powered methodology designed to solve the core manufacturing-aware optimization problem known as optical proximity correction (OPC). The methodology involves a reinforcement learning-based OPC recipe search and a customized multi-modal agent system for recipe summarization. Experiments demonstrate that our methodology can efficiently build OPC recipes on various chip designs with specially handled design topologies, a task that typically requires the full-time effort of OPC engineers with years of experience.

Robust Domain Generalization for Multi-modal Object Recognition

In multi-label classification, machine learning encounters the challenge of domain generalization when handling tasks with distributions differing from the training data. Existing approaches primarily focus on vision object recognition and neglect the integration of natural language. Recent advancements in vision-language pre-training leverage supervision from extensive visual-language pairs, enabling learning across diverse domains and enhancing recognition in multi-modal scenarios. However, these approaches face limitations in loss function utilization, generality across backbones, and class-aware visual fusion. This paper proposes solutions to these limitations by inferring the actual loss, broadening evaluations to larger vision-language backbones, and introducing Mixup-CLIPood, which incorporates a novel mix-up loss for enhanced class-aware visual fusion. Our method demonstrates superior performance in domain generalization across multiple datasets.

End-to-End Physical Design Automation Flow for Yield-Optimized Inverse-Designed Large-Scale Electronic-Photonic Integrated Circuits

As AI systems scale to multi-chiplet and wafer-level architectures, the demand for ultra-high bandwidth and system scalability has outpaced the capabilities of electrical interconnects and computing units. Large-scale heterogeneous electronic-photonic integrated chiplets (EPICs) provide a promising solution, but their practical adoption is limited by the lack of a unified, fabrication-aware physical design automation stack. At the same time, inverse-designed ultra-compact photonic devices offer orders-of-magnitude improvements in spatial and spectral density, yet remain constrained by insufficient design-for-manufacturing support and yield optimization. In this work, we present OptoSynthesizer, an end-to-end physical design automation flow for yield-optimized, inverse-designed EPICs. It integrates three key components across the physical design pipeline: (1) OptoSynthesizer-InvDes, a physical-AI-augmented, digital-twin-assisted photonic inverse design and photonics-aware inverse lithography framework; (2) OptoSynthesizer-Place, a GPU-accelerated routing-informed EPIC placer for large-scale routability-optimized layout; and (3) OptoSynthesizer-Route, a hierarchical curvy-aware waveguide router with global-planning-assisted electrical-optical co-routing. Together, these toolkits form a seamless flow from EPIC netlists to fabrication-ready, yield-robust GDS layouts. We demonstrate how this framework enables compact large-scale photonic tensor cores and high-bandwidth interconnect fabrics for heterogeneous EPIC platforms, providing a practical foundation for manufacturable large-scale EPICs in next-generation AI systems.

MAPS: Multi-Fidelity AI-Augmented Photonic Simulation and Inverse Design Infrastructure

Inverse design has emerged as a transformative approach for photonic device optimization, enabling the exploration of high-dimensional, non-intuitive design spaces to create ultra-compact devices and advance photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in computing and interconnects. However, practical challenges, such as suboptimal device performance, limited manufacturability, high sensitivity to variations, computational inefficiency, and lack of interpretability, have hindered its adoption in commercial hardware. Recent advancements in AI-assisted photonic simulation and design offer transformative potential, accelerating simulations and design generation by orders of magnitude over traditional numerical methods. Despite these breakthroughs, the lack of an open-source, standardized infrastructure and evaluation benchmark limits accessibility and cross-disciplinary collaboration. To address this, we introduce MAPS, a multi-fidelity AI-augmented photonic simulation and inverse design infrastructure designed to bridge this gap. MAPS features three synergistic components: (1) MAPS-Data: A dataset acquisition framework for generating multi-fidelity, richly labeled devices, providing high-quality data for AI-for-optics research. (2) MAPS-Train: A flexible AI-for-photonics training framework offering a hierarchical data loading pipeline, customizable model construction, support for data- and physics-driven losses, and comprehensive evaluations. (3) MAPS-InvDes: An advanced adjoint inverse design toolkit that abstracts complex physics but exposes flexible optimization steps, integrates pre-trained AI models, and incorporates fabrication variation models. This infrastructure MAPS provides a unified, open-source platform for developing, benchmarking, and advancing AI-assisted photonic design workflows, accelerating innovation in photonic hardware optimization and scientific machine learning.

An LLM-based Quantitative Framework for Evaluating High-Stealthy Backdoor Risks in OSS Supply Chains

In modern software development workflows, the open-source software supply chain contributes significantly to efficient and convenient engineering practices. With increasing system complexity, using open-source software as third-party dependencies has become a common practice. However, the lack of maintenance for underlying dependencies and insufficient community auditing create challenges in ensuring source code security and the legitimacy of repository maintainers, especially under high-stealthy backdoor attacks exemplified by the XZ-Util incident. To address these problems, we propose a fine-grained project evaluation framework for backdoor risk assessment in open-source software. The framework models stealthy backdoor attacks from the viewpoint of the attacker and defines targeted metrics for each attack stage. In addition, to overcome the limitations of static analysis in assessing the reliability of repository maintenance activities such as irregular committer privilege escalation and limited participation in reviews, the framework uses large language models (LLMs) to conduct semantic evaluation of code repositories without relying on manually crafted patterns. The framework is evaluated on sixty six high-priority packages in the Debian ecosystem. The experimental results indicate that the current open-source software supply chain is exposed to various security risks.

TAGRPO: Boosting GRPO on Image-to-Video Generation with Direct Trajectory Alignment

Recent studies have demonstrated the efficacy of integrating Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) into flow matching models, particularly for text-to-image and text-to-video generation. However, we find that directly applying these techniques to image-to-video (I2V) models often fails to yield consistent reward improvements. To address this limitation, we present TAGRPO, a robust post-training framework for I2V models inspired by contrastive learning. Our approach is grounded in the observation that rollout videos generated from identical initial noise provide superior guidance for optimization. Leveraging this insight, we propose a novel GRPO loss applied to intermediate latents, encouraging direct alignment with high-reward trajectories while maximizing distance from low-reward counterparts. Furthermore, we introduce a memory bank for rollout videos to enhance diversity and reduce computational overhead. Despite its simplicity, TAGRPO achieves significant improvements over DanceGRPO in I2V generation.

TK-Mamba: Marrying KAN with Mamba for Text-Driven 3D Medical Image Segmentation

3D medical image segmentation is vital for clinical diagnosis and treatment but is challenged by high-dimensional data and complex spatial dependencies. Traditional single-modality networks, such as CNNs and Transformers, are often limited by computational inefficiency and constrained contextual modeling in 3D settings. We introduce a novel multimodal framework that leverages Mamba and Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN) as an efficient backbone for long-sequence modeling. Our approach features three key innovations: First, an EGSC (Enhanced Gated Spatial Convolution) module captures spatial information when unfolding 3D images into 1D sequences. Second, we extend Group-Rational KAN (GR-KAN), a Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks variant with rational basis functions, into 3D-Group-Rational KAN (3D-GR-KAN) for 3D medical imaging - its first application in this domain - enabling superior feature representation tailored to volumetric data. Third, a dual-branch text-driven strategy leverages CLIP's text embeddings: one branch swaps one-hot labels for semantic vectors to preserve inter-organ semantic relationships, while the other aligns images with detailed organ descriptions to enhance semantic alignment. Experiments on the Medical Segmentation Decathlon (MSD) and KiTS23 datasets show our method achieving state-of-the-art performance, surpassing existing approaches in accuracy and efficiency. This work highlights the power of combining advanced sequence modeling, extended network architectures, and vision-language synergy to push forward 3D medical image segmentation, delivering a scalable solution for clinical use. PIC2O-Sim: A Physics-Inspired Causality-Aware Dynamic Convolutional Neural Operator for Ultra-Fast Photonic Device FDTD Simulation

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, which is important in photonic hardware design flow, is widely adopted to solve time-domain Maxwell equations. However, FDTD is known for its prohibitive runtime cost, taking minutes to hours to simulate a single device. Recently, AI has been applied to realize orders-of-magnitude speedup in partial differential equation (PDE) solving. However, AI-based FDTD solvers for photonic devices have not been clearly formulated. Directly applying off-the-shelf models to predict the optical field dynamics shows unsatisfying fidelity and efficiency since the model primitives are agnostic to the unique physical properties of Maxwell equations and lack algorithmic customization. In this work, we thoroughly investigate the synergy between neural operator designs and the physical property of Maxwell equations and introduce a physics-inspired AI-based FDTD prediction framework PIC2O-Sim which features a causality-aware dynamic convolutional neural operator as its backbone model that honors the space-time causality constraints via careful receptive field configuration and explicitly captures the permittivity-dependent light propagation behavior via an efficient dynamic convolution operator. Meanwhile, we explore the trade-offs among prediction scalability, fidelity, and efficiency via a multi-stage partitioned time-bundling technique in autoregressive prediction. Multiple key techniques have been introduced to mitigate iterative error accumulation while maintaining efficiency advantages during autoregressive field prediction. Extensive evaluations on three challenging photonic device simulation tasks have shown the superiority of our PIC2O-Sim method, showing 51.2% lower roll-out prediction error, 23.5 times fewer parameters than state-of-the-art neural operators, providing 300-600x higher simulation speed than an open-source FDTD numerical solver.

Rotate Your Character: Revisiting Video Diffusion Models for High-Quality 3D Character Generation

Generating high-quality 3D characters from single images remains a significant challenge in digital content creation, particularly due to complex body poses and self-occlusion. In this paper, we present RCM (Rotate your Character Model), an advanced image-to-video diffusion framework tailored for high-quality novel view synthesis (NVS) and 3D character generation. Compared to existing diffusion-based approaches, RCM offers several key advantages: (1) transferring characters with any complex poses into a canonical pose, enabling consistent novel view synthesis across the entire viewing orbit, (2) high-resolution orbital video generation at 1024x1024 resolution, (3) controllable observation positions given different initial camera poses, and (4) multi-view conditioning supporting up to 4 input images, accommodating diverse user scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RCM outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both novel view synthesis and 3D generation quality.

OMG-Agent: Toward Robust Missing Modality Generation with Decoupled Coarse-to-Fine Agentic Workflows

Data incompleteness severely impedes the reliability of multimodal systems. Existing reconstruction methods face distinct bottlenecks: conventional parametric/generative models are prone to hallucinations due to over-reliance on internal memory, while retrieval-augmented frameworks struggle with retrieval rigidity. Critically, these end-to-end architectures are fundamentally constrained by Semantic-Detail Entanglement -- a structural conflict between logical reasoning and signal synthesis that compromises fidelity. In this paper, we present \textbf{\underline{O}}mni-\textbf{\underline{M}}odality \textbf{\underline{G}}eneration Agent (\textbf{OMG-Agent}), a novel framework that shifts the paradigm from static mapping to a dynamic coarse-to-fine Agentic Workflow. By mimicking a \textit{deliberate-then-act} cognitive process, OMG-Agent explicitly decouples the task into three synergistic stages: (1) an MLLM-driven Semantic Planner that resolves input ambiguity via Progressive Contextual Reasoning, creating a deterministic structured semantic plan; (2) a non-parametric Evidence Retriever that grounds abstract semantics in external knowledge; and (3) a Retrieval-Injected Executor that utilizes retrieved evidence as flexible feature prompts to overcome rigidity and synthesize high-fidelity details. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmarks demonstrate that OMG-Agent consistently surpasses state-of-the-art methods, maintaining robustness under extreme missingness, e.g., a $2.6$-point gain on CMU-MOSI at $70$\% missing rates.

CAMO: Correlation-Aware Mask Optimization with Modulated Reinforcement Learning

Optical proximity correction (OPC) is a vital step to ensure printability in modern VLSI manufacturing. Various OPC approaches based on machine learning have been proposed to pursue performance and efficiency, which are typically data-driven and hardly involve any particular considerations of the OPC problem, leading to potential performance or efficiency bottlenecks. In this paper, we propose CAMO, a reinforcement learning-based OPC system that specifically integrates important principles of the OPC problem. CAMO explicitly involves the spatial correlation among the movements of neighboring segments and an OPC-inspired modulation for movement action selection. Experiments are conducted on both via layer patterns and metal layer patterns. The results demonstrate that CAMO outperforms state-of-the-art OPC engines from both academia and industry.

GPU-Accelerated Inverse Lithography Towards High Quality Curvy Mask Generation

Inverse Lithography Technology (ILT) has emerged as a promising solution for photo mask design and optimization. Relying on multi-beam mask writers, ILT enables the creation of free-form curvilinear mask shapes that enhance printed wafer image quality and process window. However, a major challenge in implementing curvilinear ILT for large-scale production is mask rule checking, an area currently under development by foundries and EDA vendors. Although recent research has incorporated mask complexity into the optimization process, much of it focuses on reducing e-beam shots, which does not align with the goals of curvilinear ILT. In this paper, we introduce a GPU-accelerated ILT algorithm that improves not only contour quality and process window but also the precision of curvilinear mask shapes. Our experiments on open benchmarks demonstrate a significant advantage of our algorithm over leading academic ILT engines.

Hunyuan-Game: Industrial-grade Intelligent Game Creation Model

Intelligent game creation represents a transformative advancement in game development, utilizing generative artificial intelligence to dynamically generate and enhance game content. Despite notable progress in generative models, the comprehensive synthesis of high-quality game assets, including both images and videos, remains a challenging frontier. To create high-fidelity game content that simultaneously aligns with player preferences and significantly boosts designer efficiency, we present Hunyuan-Game, an innovative project designed to revolutionize intelligent game production. Hunyuan-Game encompasses two primary branches: image generation and video generation. The image generation component is built upon a vast dataset comprising billions of game images, leading to the development of a group of customized image generation models tailored for game scenarios: (1) General Text-to-Image Generation. (2) Game Visual Effects Generation, involving text-to-effect and reference image-based game visual effect generation. (3) Transparent Image Generation for characters, scenes, and game visual effects. (4) Game Character Generation based on sketches, black-and-white images, and white models. The video generation component is built upon a comprehensive dataset of millions of game and anime videos, leading to the development of five core algorithmic models, each targeting critical pain points in game development and having robust adaptation to diverse game video scenarios: (1) Image-to-Video Generation. (2) 360 A/T Pose Avatar Video Synthesis. (3) Dynamic Illustration Generation. (4) Generative Video Super-Resolution. (5) Interactive Game Video Generation. These image and video generation models not only exhibit high-level aesthetic expression but also deeply integrate domain-specific knowledge, establishing a systematic understanding of diverse game and anime art styles.

Optimizing Predictive AI in Physical Design Flows with Mini Pixel Batch Gradient Descent

Exploding predictive AI has enabled fast yet effective evaluation and decision-making in modern chip physical design flows. State-of-the-art frameworks typically include the objective of minimizing the mean square error (MSE) between the prediction and the ground truth. We argue the averaging effect of MSE induces limitations in both model training and deployment, and good MSE behavior does not guarantee the capability of these models to assist physical design flows which are likely sabotaged due to a small portion of prediction error. To address this, we propose mini-pixel batch gradient descent (MPGD), a plug-and-play optimization algorithm that takes the most informative entries into consideration, offering probably faster and better convergence. Experiments on representative benchmark suits show the significant benefits of MPGD on various physical design prediction tasks using CNN or Graph-based models.

Pushing the Limits of Inverse Lithography with Generative Reinforcement Learning

Inverse lithography (ILT) is critical for modern semiconductor manufacturing but suffers from highly non-convex objectives that often trap optimization in poor local minima. Generative AI has been explored to warm-start ILT, yet most approaches train deterministic image-to-image translators to mimic sub-optimal datasets, providing limited guidance for escaping non-convex traps during refinement. We reformulate mask synthesis as conditional sampling: a generator learns a distribution over masks conditioned on the design and proposes multiple candidates. The generator is first pretrained with WGAN plus a reconstruction loss, then fine-tuned using Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) with an ILT-guided imitation loss. At inference, we sample a small batch of masks, run fast batched ILT refinement, evaluate lithography metrics (e.g., EPE, process window), and select the best candidate. On \texttt{LithoBench} dataset, the proposed hybrid framework reduces EPE violations under a 3\,nm tolerance and roughly doubles throughput versus a strong numerical ILT baseline, while improving final mask quality. We also present over 20\% EPE improvement on \texttt{ICCAD13} contest cases with 3$\times$ speedup over the SOTA numerical ILT solver. By learning to propose ILT-friendly initializations, our approach mitigates non-convexity and advances beyond what traditional solvers or GenAI can achieve.

Hunyuan-GameCraft-2: Instruction-following Interactive Game World Model

Recent advances in generative world models have enabled remarkable progress in creating open-ended game environments, evolving from static scene synthesis toward dynamic, interactive simulation. However, current approaches remain limited by rigid action schemas and high annotation costs, restricting their ability to model diverse in-game interactions and player-driven dynamics. To address these challenges, we introduce Hunyuan-GameCraft-2, a new paradigm of instruction-driven interaction for generative game world modeling. Instead of relying on fixed keyboard inputs, our model allows users to control game video contents through natural language prompts, keyboard, or mouse signals, enabling flexible and semantically rich interaction within generated worlds. We formally defined the concept of interactive video data and developed an automated process to transform large-scale, unstructured text-video pairs into causally aligned interactive datasets. Built upon a 14B image-to-video Mixture-of-Experts(MoE) foundation model, our model incorporates a text-driven interaction injection mechanism for fine-grained control over camera motion, character behavior, and environment dynamics. We introduce an interaction-focused benchmark, InterBench, to evaluate interaction performance comprehensively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our model generates temporally coherent and causally grounded interactive game videos that faithfully respond to diverse and free-form user instructions such as "open the door", "draw a torch", or "trigger an explosion".

Multimodal Chip Physical Design Engineer Assistant

Modern chip physical design relies heavily on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, which often struggle to provide interpretable feedback or actionable guidance for improving routing congestion. In this work, we introduce a Multimodal Large Language Model Assistant (MLLMA) that bridges this gap by not only predicting congestion but also delivering human-interpretable design suggestions. Our method combines automated feature generation through MLLM-guided genetic prompting with an interpretable preference learning framework that models congestion-relevant tradeoffs across visual, tabular, and textual inputs. We compile these insights into a "Design Suggestion Deck" that surfaces the most influential layout features and proposes targeted optimizations. Experiments on the CircuitNet benchmark demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing models on both accuracy and explainability. Additionally, our design suggestion guidance case study and qualitative analyses confirm that the learned preferences align with real-world design principles and are actionable for engineers. This work highlights the potential of MLLMs as interactive assistants for interpretable and context-aware physical design optimization.

FaceSleuth-R: Adaptive Orientation-Aware Attention for Robust Micro-Expression Recognition

Micro-expression recognition (MER) has achieved impressive accuracy in controlled laboratory settings. However, its real-world applicability faces a significant generalization cliff, severely hindering practical deployment due to poor performance on unseen data and susceptibility to domain shifts. Existing attention mechanisms often overfit to dataset-specific appearance cues or rely on fixed spatial priors, making them fragile in diverse environments. We posit that robust MER requires focusing on quasi-invariant motion orientations inherent to micro-expressions, rather than superficial pixel-level features. To this end, we introduce \textbf{FaceSleuth-R}, a framework centered on our novel \textbf{Single-Orientation Attention (SOA)} module. SOA is a lightweight, differentiable operator that enables the network to learn layer-specific optimal orientations, effectively guiding attention towards these robust motion cues. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that SOA consistently discovers a universal near-vertical motion prior across diverse datasets. More critically, FaceSleuth-R showcases superior generalization in rigorous Leave-One-Dataset-Out (LODO) protocols, significantly outperforming baselines and state-of-the-art methods when confronted with domain shifts. Furthermore, our approach establishes \textbf{state-of-the-art results} across several benchmarks. This work highlights adaptive orientation-aware attention as a key paradigm for developing truly generalized and high-performing MER systems.

Deep Generative Prior for First Order Inverse Optimization

Inverse design optimization aims to infer system parameters from observed solutions, posing critical challenges across domains such as semiconductor manufacturing, structural engineering, materials science, and fluid dynamics. The lack of explicit mathematical representations in many systems complicates this process and makes the first order optimization impossible. Mainstream approaches, including generative AI and Bayesian optimization, address these challenges but have limitations. Generative AI is computationally expensive, while Bayesian optimization, relying on surrogate models, suffers from scalability, sensitivity to priors, and noise issues, often leading to suboptimal solutions. This paper introduces Deep Physics Prior (DPP), a novel method enabling first-order gradient-based inverse optimization with surrogate machine learning models. By leveraging pretrained auxiliary Neural Operators, DPP enforces prior distribution constraints to ensure robust and meaningful solutions. This approach is particularly effective when prior data and observation distributions are unknown.

Genetics-Driven Personalized Disease Progression Model

Modeling disease progression through multiple stages is critical for clinical decision-making for chronic diseases, e.g., cancer, diabetes, chronic kidney diseases, and so on. Existing approaches often model the disease progression as a uniform trajectory pattern at the population level. However, chronic diseases are highly heterogeneous and often have multiple progression patterns depending on a patient's individual genetics and environmental effects due to lifestyles. We propose a personalized disease progression model to jointly learn the heterogeneous progression patterns and groups of genetic profiles. In particular, an end-to-end pipeline is designed to simultaneously infer the characteristics of patients from genetic markers using a variational autoencoder and how it drives the disease progressions using an RNN-based state-space model based on clinical observations. Our proposed model shows improvement on real-world and synthetic clinical data.

SuperMerge: An Approach For Gradient-Based Model Merging

Large language models, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or LLaMA, are gigantic, monolithic, and possess the superpower to simultaneously support thousands of tasks. However, high-throughput applications often prefer smaller task-specific models because of their lower latency and cost. One challenge of using task-specific models is the incremental need for solving newer tasks after the model is already deployed for existing tasks. A straightforward solution requires fine-tuning the model again for both existing and new tasks, which is computationally expensive and time-consuming. To address this issue, we propose a model merging based approach called SUPERMERGE. SUPERMERGE is a gradient-based method to systematically merge several fine-tuned models trained on existing and new tasks. SUPERMERGE is designed to be lightweight and fast, and the merged model achieves similar performance to fully fine-tuned models on all tasks. Furthermore, we proposed a hierarchical model merging strategy to reduce the peak space requirement without sacrificing the performance of the merged model. We experimentally demonstrate that SUPERMERGE outperforms existing model merging methods on common natural language processing and computer vision tasks.

ILILT: Implicit Learning of Inverse Lithography Technologies

Lithography, transferring chip design masks to the silicon wafer, is the most important phase in modern semiconductor manufacturing flow. Due to the limitations of lithography systems, Extensive design optimizations are required to tackle the design and silicon mismatch. Inverse lithography technology (ILT) is one of the promising solutions to perform pre-fabrication optimization, termed mask optimization. Because of mask optimization problems' constrained non-convexity, numerical ILT solvers rely heavily on good initialization to avoid getting stuck on sub-optimal solutions. Machine learning (ML) techniques are hence proposed to generate mask initialization for ILT solvers with one-shot inference, targeting faster and better convergence during ILT. This paper addresses the question of \textit{whether ML models can directly generate high-quality optimized masks without engaging ILT solvers in the loop}. We propose an implicit learning ILT framework: ILILT, which leverages the implicit layer learning method and lithography-conditioned inputs to ground the model. Trained to understand the ILT optimization procedure, ILILT can outperform the state-of-the-art machine learning solutions, significantly improving efficiency and quality.

Modeling Reservoir Release Using Pseudo-Prospective Learning and Physical Simulations to Predict Water Temperature

This paper proposes a new data-driven method for predicting water temperature in stream networks with reservoirs. The water flows released from reservoirs greatly affect the water temperature of downstream river segments. However, the information of released water flow is often not available for many reservoirs, which makes it difficult for data-driven models to capture the impact to downstream river segments. In this paper, we first build a state-aware graph model to represent the interactions amongst streams and reservoirs, and then propose a parallel learning structure to extract the reservoir release information and use it to improve the prediction. In particular, for reservoirs with no available release information, we mimic the water managers' release decision process through a pseudo-prospective learning method, which infers the release information from anticipated water temperature dynamics. For reservoirs with the release information, we leverage a physics-based model to simulate the water release temperature and transfer such information to guide the learning process for other reservoirs. The evaluation for the Delaware River Basin shows that the proposed method brings over 10\% accuracy improvement over existing data-driven models for stream temperature prediction when the release data is not available for any reservoirs. The performance is further improved after we incorporate the release data and physical simulations for a subset of reservoirs.

ROS-X-Habitat: Bridging the ROS Ecosystem with Embodied AI

We introduce ROS-X-Habitat, a software interface that bridges the AI Habitat platform for embodied learning-based agents with other robotics resources via ROS. This interface not only offers standardized communication protocols between embodied agents and simulators, but also enables physically and photorealistic simulation that benefits the training and/or testing of vision-based embodied agents. With this interface, roboticists can evaluate their own Habitat RL agents in another ROS-based simulator or use Habitat Sim v2 as the test bed for their own robotic algorithms. Through in silico experiments, we demonstrate that ROS-X-Habitat has minimal impact on the navigation performance and simulation speed of a Habitat RGBD agent; that a standard set of ROS mapping, planning and navigation tools can run in Habitat Sim v2; and that a Habitat agent can run in the standard ROS simulator Gazebo.

Routing Towards Discriminative Power of Class Capsules

Capsule networks are recently proposed as an alternative to modern neural network architectures. Neurons are replaced with capsule units that represent specific features or entities with normalized vectors or matrices. The activation of lower layer capsules affects the behavior of the following capsules via routing links that are constructed during training via certain routing algorithms. We discuss the routing-by-agreement scheme in dynamic routing algorithm which, in certain cases, leads the networks away from optimality. To obtain better and faster convergence, we propose a routing algorithm that incorporates a regularized quadratic programming problem which can be solved efficiently. Particularly, the proposed routing algorithm targets directly on the discriminative power of class capsules making the correct decision on input instances. We conduct experiments on MNIST, MNIST-Fashion, and CIFAR-10 and show competitive classification results compared to existing capsule networks.

Incorporating Causal Effects into Deep Learning Predictions on EHR Data

Electronic Health Records (EHR) data analysis plays a crucial role in healthcare system quality. Because of its highly complex underlying causality and limited observable nature, causal inference on EHR is quite challenging. Deep Learning (DL) achieved great success among the advanced machine learning methodologies. Nevertheless, it is still obstructed by the inappropriately assumed causal conditions. This work proposed a novel method to quantify clinically well-defined causal effects as a generalized estimation vector that is simply utilizable for causal models. We incorporated it into DL models to achieve better predictive performance and result interpretation. Furthermore, we also proved the existence of causal information blink spots that regular DL models cannot reach.

Attacking Split Manufacturing from a Deep Learning Perspective

The notion of integrated circuit split manufacturing which delegates the front-end-of-line (FEOL) and back-end-of-line (BEOL) parts to different foundries, is to prevent overproduction, piracy of the intellectual property (IP), or targeted insertion of hardware Trojans by adversaries in the FEOL facility. In this work, we challenge the security promise of split manufacturing by formulating various layout-level placement and routing hints as vector- and image-based features. We construct a sophisticated deep neural network which can infer the missing BEOL connections with high accuracy. Compared with the publicly available network-flow attack [1], for the same set of ISCAS-85 benchmarks, we achieve 1.21X accuracy when splitting on M1 and 1.12X accuracy when splitting on M3 with less than 1% running time.

VLSI Mask Optimization: From Shallow To Deep Learning

Recent researches have shown prominent advantages of machine learning techniques dealing with complicated and big data problems, which bring potential of dedicated machine learning solution for DFM problems and facilitate the VLSI design cycle. In this paper, we focus on a heterogeneous OPC framework that assists mask layout optimization. Preliminary results show the efficiency and effectiveness of proposed frameworks that have the potential to be alternatives to existing EDA solutions.

Automatic Layout Generation with Applications in Machine Learning Engine Evaluation

Machine learning-based lithography hotspot detection has been deeply studied recently, from varies feature extraction techniques to efficient learning models. It has been observed that such machine learning-based frameworks are providing satisfactory metal layer hotspot prediction results on known public metal layer benchmarks. In this work, we seek to evaluate how these machine learning-based hotspot detectors generalize to complicated patterns. We first introduce a automatic layout generation tool that can synthesize varies layout patterns given a set of design rules. The tool currently supports both metal layer and via layer generation. As a case study, we conduct hotspot detection on the generated via layer layouts with representative machine learning-based hotspot detectors, which shows that continuous study on model robustness and generality is necessary to prototype and integrate the learning engines in DFM flows. Are Adversarial Perturbations a Showstopper for ML-Based CAD? A Case Study on CNN-Based Lithographic Hotspot Detection

There is substantial interest in the use of machine learning (ML) based techniques throughout the electronic computer-aided design (CAD) flow, particularly those based on deep learning. However, while deep learning methods have surpassed state-of-the-art performance in several applications, they have exhibited intrinsic susceptibility to adversarial perturbations --- small but deliberate alterations to the input of a neural network, precipitating incorrect predictions. In this paper, we seek to investigate whether adversarial perturbations pose risks to ML-based CAD tools, and if so, how these risks can be mitigated. To this end, we use a motivating case study of lithographic hotspot detection, for which convolutional neural networks (CNN) have shown great promise. In this context, we show the first adversarial perturbation attacks on state-of-the-art CNN-based hotspot detectors; specifically, we show that small (on average 0.5% modified area), functionality preserving and design-constraint satisfying changes to a layout can nonetheless trick a CNN-based hotspot detector into predicting the modified layout as hotspot free (with up to 99.7% success). We propose an adversarial retraining strategy to improve the robustness of CNN-based hotspot detection and show that this strategy significantly improves robustness (by a factor of ~3) against adversarial attacks without compromising classification accuracy.

Bridging the Gap Between Layout Pattern Sampling and Hotspot Detection via Batch Active Learning

Layout hotpot detection is one of the main steps in modern VLSI design. A typical hotspot detection flow is extremely time consuming due to the computationally expensive mask optimization and lithographic simulation. Recent researches try to facilitate the procedure with a reduced flow including feature extraction, training set generation and hotspot detection, where feature extraction methods and hotspot detection engines are deeply studied. However, the performance of hotspot detectors relies highly on the quality of reference layout libraries which are costly to obtain and usually predetermined or randomly sampled in previous works. In this paper, we propose an active learning-based layout pattern sampling and hotspot detection flow, which simultaneously optimizes the machine learning model and the training set that aims to achieve similar or better hotspot detection performance with much smaller number of training instances. Experimental results show that our proposed method can significantly reduce lithography simulation overhead while attaining satisfactory detection accuracy on designs under both DUV and EUV lithography technologies.
